My submission will be Jill Greenscales
Race: Changeling
Class: Barbarian/Alchemist (starting with Barbarian)
Alignment: Either CG or NG
Campaign Trait: Drug Addict (Personal Addiction)
Concept: Rage Juicer
Jill never knew her parents. Her earliest memories were of the orphanage of Sister Gloria's Home for Wayward Children. She was happy there with the other kids. However one day Gaedren Lamm came with some thugs and purchased a number of the kids. Some of the kids he made into his 'Little Lamms', however for the rest, including Jill, they became some of the first who were addicted to Shiver. Jill survived while many of her friends did not. She eventually escaped and longs for the day of revenge on Gaedren.
I have some previous experience with Crimson Throne, but the game derailed before we actually got into the adventure proper.

Lucius Baradain |

Sounds like something I'd like to sink my teeth into. For my concept, I'd be thinking a Ranger, likely wanting to become a Sable Company Marine. Lucius will likely be a ranged weapon Ranger as opposed to two-weapon.
Name: Lucius Taviskin
Class: Ranger (Sable Company Marine)
Role: Martial, ranged offense
Campaign Trait: Missing Sibling (sister)
Race: Human (Chelish)
Alignment: Neutral Good
Deity: Gozreh

Background to follow tomorrow. Haven't played this AP, but I have read the Player's Guide.

Absinthe Mooneyes |

I'd like to make a play for this game. Presenting my character, fluff and crunch completed. Please let me know what you think - I took the Prehensile Tail quality from the Advanced Race Guide, replacing Fiendish Sorcery. My Charisma doesn't support multiclassing into Sorcerer anyway, and even if it did, I wouldn't want to get involved in any of that mess. ;)

Description
Melianthe is a tall elven woman with sleek skin the color of grey ash, violet eyes that seem to burn red at the pupil, and blonde hair. Most of this is usually covered up, however; when she walks the streets of Korvosa, she is invariably in a doctor's mask and a deeply hooded cowl to keep the sunlight from burning her eyes, and to hide her from the eyes of those prejudiced against dark skinned elves--eyes she has hid from most of her life. She has piercings of ebon along the length of her long ears, and nose, and will chuckle unnervingly when asked if she has more. Among companions, out of her doctor's outfit, she wears considerably less.
She has three main faces to the world: alluring and uncomfortably sensual; a no-nonsense masked healer full of great compassion for the downtrodden; a former shiver addict haunted by past tragedies, still plagued by the occasional twitch in her weakest moments. None of them encapsulates her in the entirety. At her most confident and true, she possesses a rich, throaty laugh that shakes even the angriest bravo who dares to threaten her.
Background
Little is said of the elves of the night; some call them the dusk elves, or grey elves, and usually in a hissed whisper with a spat punctuation. Whether their blood is infused with drow, or if they are some other origin--one of many ancient races of elves, once mighty and now persecuted by drow and sun elf alike, and yet brooking with both in some quarters--few discuss the possibilities, possibly for fear of discovering flaws in the story of the race of elves, so well known for being haughty, xenophobic, and pure.
Melianthe is such an elf. Her small tribe in the Churlwood slain by daylight elves, she fled to from town to town, always harrassed and despised. After some years, she found Korvosa and descended into darkness. Dusk elves are despised, as many consider them kin to drow, and thus her attempts to honestly integrate into society were met with scorn, and the scorching sun. She soon drifted into Lamm's clutches. Discovering her ability to send messages in dreams, he convinced her that shiver would increase her powers...but instead used her to send messages from her hallucinatory dreams to him and his cronies in order for idle amusement. She was used like this for a nightmarish period of time.
Finally breaking free, she huddled under docks and in sewers out of sight, sick with withdrawal, but determined to be herself again. After long months of living in the bowels of Korvosa, shaking off the effects of shiver, she found herself surrounded by crawling arachnid and insectile vermin, and given power by a mysterious dark form just beyond the clusters of arthropods. This form told her that revenge is not always evil, and deception is not always a lie, and unto her a great scorpion came, to be her guide and companion.
Melianthe returned to the streets of Korvosa with new resolve: to heal those who had been made ill by Lamm and others. Disguising her alien beauty beneath a doctor's mask, she treated the sick, found companions if not friends, and bided her time. Revenge is not always evil, but its patience can be matched by its bloodiness.

I am definitely interested in throwing my hat into this one. I have two character concepts once of them is a Sable Company Marine who is a member of the Endrin family.
The other one is a "student" of Blackjack. He has never really met Blackjack but he has researched all of his exploits and has trained in a similar fighting style. He will be a rich scion by day ("rich parents"), and crime fighting badass by night. He will want to bring Lamm to justice for (insert Trait here).

Just a confirmation question. You do not need the FULL details of the characters. I submitted backstory, stats, class, feats, and traits racial traits. Would you prefer if those of us who have done similar filled it out with Gear and spells and the combat details? I am happy to if that is useful.
Edit: Thanks Nomad, that is what I thought, but wanted to make sure

Malcolm d'Varre |

..........
Let me know if I missed anyyone...
Just want to restate that Malcolm is far more fighter than divine. Think more a fighter who traded one BAB for some minor magical abilities.
I'm thinking of trying two weapon fighting with sword and fist. With snapping turtle style to help the empty hand.
That's the idea anyway. Looks like a tough choice.
Good luck everyone.

flykiller RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32 |
Presenting the background for Vraesh Mardan, my CG Tiefling Staff Magus. He will have the Framed (Dropout) campaign trait. I'll do the crunch by tomorrow.
Vraesh Mardan should be happy to live in Korvosa. That's what his father used to say often. Vraesh knew that his parents arrived to Korvosa as refugees from Cheliax, where the people cursed with the abyssal heritage were seen as good only for slavery. Father rarely spoke about his days in Cheliax, and when he did, he spoke slowly and with big pauses, as if carefully choosing what can be said and what was best left unspoken.
However, Vraesh himself had nothing to compare Korvosa to, and he wouldn't call it particularly tolerant. Since childhood he was a constant object of attacks and insults, but he soon noticed that at the root of this aggression lies fear. As if people expected him to turn into a Balor any time of the day.
Vraesh's temper was not as fiery as his appearance might have suggested, and he has grown as a quiet outcast. His heritage primarily manifested in his innate gift for magic, and he spent most of his time studying intensely to prepare for the entry exams to the Acadamae. Inside him, though, resentment and despise towards the so-called civilized races were building up. It could have led him to a woeful end, if not for Amanda.
Amanda was a half-orc girl he met at his first year of the Acadamae. It was a match made in heavens - they both were shunned by the society, they both had non-traditional appearance, and Amanda had a golden heart. Vraesh quickly noticed that her approach to magic was much more intuitive and spontaneous - she was training to become a sorcerer. These different approaches to the mutual interest have become their favourite conversation subject, and they spent hours on end talking about it during their evening promenades on Korvosa's quays and docksides.
It was there when he learned that Amanda had a family. Particularly, an older brother. Her brother Kadran was working at the docks, and he was everything Amanda wasn't - proud, brutish, and ill-tempered. Amanda has kept their relationship hidden from her brother, rightfully fearing his wrath. When he spotted them together, he made a very rude scene and threatened Vraesh.
At first, Vraesh was afraid, and even stopped dating Amanda for a while. But the more he thought about it, the more stupid this situation seemed to him and he felt more and more confident about himself. After all, he was a budding wizard with a mastery of the forces beyond that which the thug could even comprehend. Next time, he'll just turn him into a toad!
He made amends to Amanda and before long, her brother has somehow learned of it. One night, he met Vraesh in a dark alley. Vraesh was alone. Kadran brought friends. Vraesh raised his quarterstaff - a wizardly possession most students had - and invoked the most powerful spell he has recently learned. The thugs immediately fell asleep, but Kadran just blinked.
”Give me your walking stick, maggot. You can’t even use it propery anyway. I’ll show you how it’s done.”
The first strike has dissected the skin on his forehead. The blood filled his eyes and he didn’t see the second swing breaking his forearm. When a powerful jab with the staff’s end hit him in the solar plexus, he has finally lost consciousness.
When he awoke, broken and barely alive, the medic was working on him. He thought he was in a hospital, but it was not a hospital. It was a prison. He, was accused of murder, even as he had just almost become a victim of murder himself.
As Vraesh later learned, Kadran and his gang worked for a crimelord named Gaedren Lamm. Lamm has killed a man that night, and Kadran was tasked with finding a scapegoat for the crime. Vraesh turned up just at that time. They planted a ring belonging to the victim on his senseless body, and called the guards themselves, claiming to be witnesses of the murder who have detained the dangerous criminal. Vraesh was facing a sure sentence, if not for Amanda’s help, who has witnessed against her own brother and exposed the plot. Shortly after, she mysteriously disappeared, never to be seen again.
Even though Vraesh was now a free man, his life was broken. His wounds took months to heal and his fingers never fully regained the finesse befitting a wizard. While he was under trial, he was discharged from the Acadamae. But most of all, he has lost the sense of superiority that he nurtured in himself. It turned out any common thug could hurt him and his loved ones, and break his life. This will not do. He will become stronger, learn to defend himself, and he will make Lamm pay for what he and his cronies did to himself and must have done to Amanda.

Jekara |

I'd like to throw my name into the hat. I'd like to create a Human Summoner named Jekara. He has an Eidolon with the following stats: Biped Base Form, Unnatural Aura, Undead Appearance. I would like to give him the Reactionary and Unhappy Childhood[Tortured] traits.
He was kidnapped as a child, stolen into slavery. Abused for years, he nevertheless developed a loving relationship with a half-elven woman, Jessira.
Shortly after his 23rd birthday, he was forced to witness the brutal rape and murder of his love. Broken inside, an unknown power surged forth and an otherworldly Jessira tore into the world. A spitting image of his love, including the wounds that killed her, Jessira turned her violent attentions to the man who brutalized her.
Jekara watched as his love destroyed his master, making him a free man for the first time in his life. His joy, however, turned slowly into sadness as he realized that although this was indeed Jessira, she was a slave to his will.
Desperate for a way to end her enslavement, Jekara has traveled to many cities and seen many wizards and priests. His journey has brought him now to this new city and a man associated to his dead master, Gaedran Lamm. This man may know magical lords who might be able to help him end the enslavement of his love; Gaedran will help or die trying!

She grew up as yet another unwanted child among many, and not a terribly obedient or respectful one either. The matron frequently had to admonish her and tell her how grateful Hana should be for how much worse it could have been.
Then one day, it got worse -- her father died in an accident with his work crew while still in Debtor's Prison, and the stipend the orphanage drew from his 'pay' dried up. The matron spent quite some time savoring each word as she explained to the eight-year-old girl how the orphanage could no longer afford to waste its 'generosity' on an ungrateful, disrespectful girl when there were so many other children who would certainly appreciate it much more. 'Luckily', she knew of a man who had 'generously' decided to take her in and give her a chance to become a productive member of society...
Sarcasm aside, Hana did live better under Lamm's 'care' than she had in the strict regimen of the orphanage. Lamm quickly discovered that her agility and quick fingers had the makings of a very talented pickpocket and burglar, and as long as she brought him his due, he didn't care what else she did...
... Until the day she slipped up and was almost caught while lifting a lady's precious gems. She got away and managed to shake off pursuit, but one of the guards had recognized her as one of Lamm's Lambs, and the Korvosan Guard was dispatched to search for her at his home.
Lamm had managed to talk and bribe his way out of being accused of anything, as usual -- but by the time Hana arrived home empty-handed he was in a mood to set an example to all of his little lambs as to what happened when they let him down.
Hana doesn't remember much of the beating that followed. She vaguely remembers begging him to stop, and the realization dawning that he wouldn't. She doesn't remember how she got away, either, but the priestess of Calistria that found a thirteen-year-old girl unconscious and on the brink of death in an alcove in the temple proper (despite the fact that the temple had supposedly been locked down for the night) insists that she only found one knife concealed in her clothes when she treated her injuries when Hana distinctly remembers never carrying less than two.
Calistria, as a rule, isn't known for Her generosity either, but She does have a soft spot for those who hold vengeance in their hearts. And from her part, Hana found Calistria's honest selfishness a refreshing change from the orphanage's for-your-own-good hypocritical benevolence, and the concept of personal freedom appealed a great deal -- as did the notion of one day exacting suitable vengeance on Lamm...
Nowadays she's still an excellent pickpocket and burglar, although since the temple doesn't really need the money she is more likely to be asked to recover embarrassing information or blackmail material. At eighteen, she recently became old enough to do service... And discovered with mixed feelings that Lamm never even recognized her -- rage because he obviously didn't even remember the girl he nearly beat to death, and delight because the lack of recognition will make revenge that much easier to carry out.
In many ways she's a consummate Calistrian: Pretty, clever, and selfish... And nurturing dreams of the vengeance she'll mete out on old Lamm.
Soon.

Axolotl |

That Gaeden Lamm sure messes up a lot of people. The only question for those chosen is---how do they all take revenge at once?
Melianthe will be sure to have the Scar and Nightmare hexes learnt by the time they meet again. Fire burn, and cauldron bubble!
Nice characters, everyone---the back stories are enjoyably grim.

finally decided on a submission

Backstory
Sometimes, horror slaps you in the face not on thunderous nights, but by a sunny, pleasant afternoon.
Such was the case for Vaenia, daughter of Souadren Lothmatis and the late Corm Thelb,a human bard of small repute but exquisite charm when she heard the screams of anguish and pain from her sister Llerem, more than two years ago.
While she was in Korvosa for trade, she got robbed, beaten .. and worse, by a group of thugs near the docks. She could only remember clothes and partial faces, but no name.
Of course Llerem would be taken care of. But nearly every night after that was a torture for her, as she awoke to nightmanres, living the same dreadful encounter again and again.
This was enough to fill Vaenia with rage, and she pledged her soul and heart to Calistria, asking to be able to avenge her sister.
Vaenia learned prayers, learned spells, learned tradition and legends. But it wasn't enough for her, and she lacked patience and maybe even wisdom.
She learned how to use perfumes, and silks, and dances, to win the hearts and trust of people, if only temporary.
She learned to seduce and to lie.
She learned that all her hopes were for naught, that it was already too late: on a cold morning, Llerem has gone, leaving a letter to say she was going back to Korvosa to put an end to her sufferings, one way or the other.
She never came back.
She never gave any news.
She disappeared.
You'll go to this place
You'll find her.
Nothing will stop you.

Reteza Străpunge |

Behold, the sorceress Cyfle Anthea!
Background:
and Mwangi swallows, she was awed by the sites, sounds and smells of Korvosa and it's unique people. She befriended an elderly Gnome shopkeeper and offered her help in exchange for room and board. The
two became fast friends and later developed a pseudo mother/daughter relationship.
It was when her employer was accused of murder that the reality of the harsh laws of Korvosa opened Cyfle's eyes. Luckily, for her, but unluckily for the eyewitness, the case was eventually dropped against her adopted parent. However, the stigma remained causing long standing patrons to no longer patronize her establishment. She found out that before he died, that the eyewitness ratted out some jerk named Gaedren Lamm as the one that did both the murdering and the framing. If she can find this Lamm, she knows she can clear her mentor's reputation once and for all. So, with that, she sets off with her favorite tracking cat, Mr. Grumpy Bob, to bring Gaedren Lamm to justice.
Appearance:
Though Varisian, she tends to not wear flowing scarves common with those of other Varisians. Her clothing is a piece-meal smattering of different cultures, races and professions that constantly changes from day to day. (She may well wear the boot of an Elven ranger on one foot and adorn the other foot with a sturdy slipper of an Tian acrobat, while also wearing a bright red bodice matched with sailor breeches.)

Hi
I'd like to submit Jasper for this. He's a character I've really wanted to play for a while now, focussing mostly on illusion spells and creative means of resolving encounters.
I have completely done his stats but only written a very brief backstory (although I know where I'm going with it) for the sake of speed both of submitting and you reviewing him.
For myself, posting several times a day is not a problem and I'd also welcome a nice, gritty urban adventure!

Morvern |

I'd like to submit a half-elf conjurer.
Morvern Solari's mother was an ambitious young social climber who attached herself to the Korvosan diplomatic corps long enough
to find an exotic elven lover. When this union resulted in a child the father showed only a mild interest, and when he transferred away he left behind a polite letter and a modest stipend to aid the single mother in raising her child. The combination of heartbreak and
windfall led the young woman to begin a life time as a career alcoholic.
Morvern grew up ashamed of his mother's increasingly tawdry ways and longing to live up to the legacy he imagined for his distant father. He turned his natural intelligence towards magic, hoping to earn prestige by training at the Acadamae. He did well enough there, though he endured frequent teasing from his peers about his wastrel mother.
Eventually she drank through her remaining money and became indebted to the wrong sorts of people. Her inability to pay led thugs to come calling on Morvern at his Acadamae residence, suggesting that he should be the one to pay for his mother's debts. Angry words and well placed cantrips drove them off, but Morvern's anger and shame were evident to all.
When Morvern's mother turned up dead an eyewitness described an angry confrontation between a shamed Morvern and an unrepentant mother down by
the docks. A search of his dorm found a dagger still bearing traces of blood among his possessions. Some uncharitable authorities were willing
to believe a resentful half-elf could murder his own mother in a fit of rage, but a few other members of the Acadamae knew better. Their
interrogation of the witness revealed Morvern's innocence and extracted the name Gaedren Lamm. Morvern was freed but the incident cost him
his career at the Academae. and the recanted testimony soon cost the witness his life.
Now Morvern has nothing left of the life he hoped to lead, his past and future are gone. Gaedren Lamm has taken it all.
A straight up specialist wizard, no multi-classing planned. Probably with enchantment and necromancy as opposition schools. Planning on being Neutral Good. I think the way his background is set up I could choose one of several campaign traits, which might help to avoid overlapping traits among party members.

I'd like to submit Maliya Mogarin, Half Orc Oracle of the Outer Rifts and signifier armiger on temporary leave.
Maliya is a young Half Orc haunted by a history that isn't her own. Her powers as oracle of the outer rifts defined her youth and she joined the Hellknights in an attempt to get a grip on her powers. In combat she'll function as a combination of blaster and, to a lesser extent, enabler and controller. Outside of combat she's a social character with a lot of knowledge on planar dealings. If at all possible I'd like to eventually go for the Hellknight Signifier PrC
Str: 14 Int: 10
Dex: 10 Wis: 8
Con: 12 Cha: 18
Gear: Long Sword, Buckler, Scale Mail, Spear, Light Crossbow, Pathfinder's Kit
Some odds and ends beyond that probably
The daughter of one of Lady Eliasia Laroung's bodyguards and the master of the manor's stables, most of Maliya's youth took place in and around the Laroung manor. As a little girl she was trained both in the combat arts of her mother and her father's work as master of the stables. It looked as if she'd eventually take the place of one of her parents.
When her visions first manifested to her Maliya woke up screaming, babbling in a strange tongue that one of the Lady's apprentices recognised as Abyssal, the language of demons. The young man translated her words for her worried parents. In her visions she had seen dark realms were masses of fiends writhed and fought. She saw scenes of battles, both one fiend against another, against mortals and even against angels. When she stopped talking Maliya fell back into her bed and immediately went back to sleep.
Initially this whole episode was dismissed as a fevered dream, probably brought on by bad food but as the scenes started to repeat themselves, each visions described with more gory details, Maliya was moved to the University for study. There they came to the conclusion that Maliya's dreams were in fact visions of the Abyss and from battles the demons living there fought in the past, fight now or will fight in the future. They were, however, convinced that it would never move beyond these visions and that it simply would be something she had to learn to live with and that it could be a great asset if she decided to learn more on the matter.
For several years Maliya spent time at the university, both as a curiosity for students to study and to learn more about her connection to the abyss. Eventually it was discovered through complicated scrying of the past that one of her father's ancestor's had been a powerful demonologist and that somehow the taint he had placed on his bloodline surfaced in Maliya.
In addition she was still schooled in the arts of combat by her mother, but the horses had become skittish around her ever since the first vision and it took too much time to win the trust of every new horse. It was during sword training that her further abilities first showed as her weapon suddenly wavered as surrounded by hot air and when Maliya raised her weapon to attack the practice target it burst into flame. At this point the people at the university no longer knew what to do with er and considered her to be too dangerous to allow her entry within their walls again. Lady Leroung, who took pity on the little girl, used her connections to secure a place for her amongst the hellknights as a signifier armiger. Her parents, not knowing what other options remained, consented.
Her education amongst the Hellknights was harsh and unforgiving, but with their help she managed to control her abilities and finally get a grip on her visions as well. She still only spoke Abyssal during times of distress but at least she controlled her visions and powers instead of the other way around.
Her education continued and while on leave in Korvosa she met Marn, a young Half Orc who had recently joined the city guard. The two of them fell in love and soon they were engaged. They decided they would marry once Maliya had secured her place as a Signifier since He would have to stop as a city guard by then in order to prevent conflicts of interest for the both of them. It never came that far though, as within a few months of deciding on their engagement Marn was found dead in an alley. He had been on his way back to the barracks from patrol duty in Old Korvosa. The engagement ring both of them wore had been stolen from his body.
While the guard couldn't manage to track down the killer nor the ring, Maliya's mentor had more luck using divination. With it, he traced the ring to a shopkeeper in Midland. Sadly her pay as an armiger was to small to afford the ring and the shopkeeper either didn't believe her claims of being a hellknight or wasn't impressed by it and as such he wouldn't give her the ring. He did, however, tell her who sold it to him. Since then she's been on the hunt for a man called Gaedran Lamm.

Lucius Baradain |

Sorry, meant to get this up yesterday but got delayed. As far as class goes, I think Sable Marine is either an archetype or a 4th level feat depending on the source you look at. For the purpose of this application, I've just assumed a base Ranger with those details to be worked out later.
Lucius was one of only two children born to Vatticus and Aurelia Taviskin in the outskirts of Korvosa. His father made a living as simple farmer, so Lucius grew up in outdoors along with his younger sister Julia (younger by two years). Life was idyllic in many ways, as Lucius and his sister loved the outdoors and were raised by loving parents.
Nevertheless, Lucius always harbored a secret desire for adventure that life on his father's farm would never provide. When just a boy, Vatticus had Lucius accompany him to the grand markets of Korvosa to sell some of the excess crop he had produced in a banner crop year. On a chance meeting, Vatticus introduced his small son to one of the Sable Marine's in town who was monitoring the peace in the markets that day. Lucius immediately was taken by the Ranger and his Hippogriff mount. From that moment forward, Lucius knew what he wanted in life.
As he grew older, his father began to grow frustrated with his son's obsession with joining the Sable Marine Corps. Vatticus tried in vain to draw Lucius' attention to work on the farm, as Lucius would inherit one day. As punishment on his eighteenth birthday for his day dreaming, Vatticus choose instead to take his younger sister Julia with him to the big city to sell the excess crop for the year. Sadly, this decision would result in tragedy, as Vatticus was mugged by the thugs of a local crime Lord named Lamm, and Julia abducted.
When Vatticus returned injured and broken for the loss of his only daughter, Lucius set his mind to achieving two great aims. The first was to hunt down Lamm and bring him to justice, as well as find his sister Julia; the second would be to join the Sable Marine Corps.
Without a word to his parents, Lucius grabbed his possessions and made his way Korvosa.
Lucius is a handsome and youthful looking young man. His hair is jet black, and his eyes are a pale greyish blue. Though wiry and quite athletic, Lucius is only of average height and not overly muscular. His expression is generally weary for someone of his age, though he always has a ready smile for friends and family.
Lucius tends to be cautious with strangers, and takes his time to warm and open to people. Initial impressions of Lucius usually range from a quiet reserved lad to perhaps a little on the cool and indifferent side. Nevertheless, those who count Lucius as a friend would note is inherent optimism and belief that there is always a better tomorrow.

Segang |

Greetings. This is the Urban Barbarian entry from Skorn.
Meet Segang. His crunch, background and detailed description are included in his alias. But here is his background for easy access.
Have you ever beeb sold? Can you imagine being taken from your family and your tribe at a young age and being dropped into an urban jungle, when all you have know are the open planes and hills and sea? Now imagine the cruelty of Gaedren Lamm. No love, no warmth; only the whip and the demand to bring in more coin and to "not get caught." LOng nights huddling with other unloved youth for warmth and never a full belly. This for 6 years. If you can imagine this then maybe you can understand what drives Sagang. Its not quite hatred. Hatred is too selfish, and Segang's drive is more focused on ending Lamm to make sure he can never steel another's childhood.
The young barbarian spend 6 years in the "care" of Master Lamm. At age 12 he was recognized as Shoanti by visiting riders on market day. He was spotted trying to remove a coin purse from a shopper. It happened so fast. They called to him in Shoanti and he responded instinctively, still remembering the tongue of his early years. The next thing he knew he was in tribal leathers and seated behind a great warrior on his mount. Sagang can still remember holding onto the Earthbreaker across the warrior' back as they left Korvosa. Freedom had been so simple. The guards did not even stop and question them.
Returned to the Shriikiri-Quah, Sagang was once again under the big sky. He had to lear to ride again. And to hunt, and to swim, and to climb. But it all came back. His grandmother was there on his marking day when he received the tribal totems in bright inks onto his face and back. His head was shaved and he was officially named a man. When it came time to make the blood vows, he listened to the others. Most vows were to regain lost land from the evil Cheliax. Some were to avenge a family member or to hunt a great beast, But for Sagang there could be only one vow. Gaedren Lamm must be made to pay for his crimes. Gaedren Lamm must die.
