I am searching for 4 or 5 interesting souls to join me in Starfinder's fisrt AP, Dead Suns. Let's have some fun!

Step One Choose a race, theme, and a class then develop a character concept.

Step 4: work up crunch and submit. No need to choose an alias unless you are selected.

Expectation: Post daily during combat. RP as much as possible. Get along with your party members. Do your best to post when not in combat. I will roll Initiative. You will all of PCs other rolls. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION FEBRUARY 11, 2018, at midnight.

Me as GM:

I want to have fun and I want the players to have fun. I will consider any submissions that follow my requests. I am ideally looking for 4-5 players. I am beginning to start GMing a table top Dead Suns game and thought that it would be fun to run a PbP alongside of it.

Combat:

Combat will be held on either roll 20 or through Google drive, whichever wins the vote of players.

Any takers?

I'm interested as an operative of some sort. Is this your first DM on pbp? Doesn't change my interest, just curious.

Yes

I'll dot in here. I had a character in a group that was running this that was going strong and then fizzled out.

Would you be willing to allow me to try and convert the Kineticist class into Starfinder? It fills a niche that is (imo) currently lacking: a telekinetic. I know that there are a few different conversions for the kineticist floating around on the boards, and if you liked one of those I'd be happy to use it instead of making my own.

Sczarni

Two questions:

I'm currently GMing this AP, and we're on the 3rd Book, but I don't think I'll ever get a chance to actually play it. Would you take someone who already knows the plot?

And

Are you giving SFS credit?

Sczarni

I'd be happy to offer advice or assistance in running the AP, and as a player I'd be similarly content to fill any needed role.

While it would be nice to have some veteran players, I would like to have those who have never gone through the AP before.

Sczarni

Sure thing!

I am OK with Pathfinder classes being used here. I find it interesting to have Pathfinder race with a Starfinder class and vice versa.

I would be willing to submit something for this but I am in a Dead Suns game already.

mishima with my operative here. Submission complete. Story really came together oddly and I hope I get a chance to play him/her!

Dotting for interest as well. Will try to recycle this theme for it.

Okay, here's my first draft for my Kineticist conversion:

Kineticist:

HP 6
SP 6 + Con modifier
Key Ability Score: Constitution

Skill Points: +4 Int modifier

Acrobatics, Mysticism, Medicine, Intimidate, Perception, Profession, Stealth. Aether adds Engineering and Sleight of Hand

Class Features:
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Kineticists are proficient with all Basic Melee Weapons, Small Arms, and light armor.

Burn: Each point of burn costs 1 resolve.

Gather Power: Can take a move action to reduce the resolve cost of a blast by 1 or a full-round action to reduce the resolve cost of a blast for next round by 2. benefit goes away if not used by end of next round.

Elemental Overflow: at 3rd level, Kineticists add their Kineticist level to damage with Kinetic Blast. This bonus does not stack with Weapon Specialization. Additionally, for every point of burn taken, add +1 to hit with kinetic blast, to a maximum of +1 for every three Kineticist levels. At 6th level, if the Kineticist has at least 3 points of burn, they get a +2 size bonus to two physical ability scores of their choice. at 11th level, if they have at least 5 points of burn, they instead get a +4 size bonus to one physical ability score of their choice and a +2 size bonus to the other two physical ability scores. Once they reach at least 6th level in this class, the character can never benefit from Personal Upgrades, even if they later retrain to a different class.

Metakinesis: Empower - add 1/2 class level to damage; Maximize - double class level to damage; Quicken - Activate power as move action instead of standard

Internal Buffer: At 6th level, the Kineticist gets a point of Resolve that can only be spent on burn. At 11th and 16th levels, they get another point of Internal Buffer.

Infusion Specialization: Reduces Burn costs of Infusions

Supercharge: Improves Gather Power to -2 burn cost for a move action or -3 for a full round action.

-------------------------

Melee Attack Bonus for CMB: Con + Caster Level
Bonus to hit with Kinetic blast: BAB + Con modifier

Element: Aether

Basic Blasts: Telekinetic Blast: Targets KAC; does 1d6p damage, which increases at every odd level, to a max of 10d6p damage at 19th level

Composite Blasts: Force Blast

Defensive Talent: Force Ward

Infusion Talents:
1: Extended Range (Burn 1): Increase range of Infused blast to 120'
Kinetic Blade (Burn 1): can make a melee weapon out of element that looks like any melee weapon that works just like Infused blast
Pushing (Burn 1): Can make a Bull Rush combat maneuver against each target hit by blast.

2: Bowling (Burn 2): Can make a Trip combat maneuver against each target hit by blast.

3: Extreme Range (Burn 2): Increase range of Infused blast to 480'
Kinetic Whip (Burn 2): Make blast that works as reach weapon.
Snake (Burn 2): Can steer infused blast around obstacles up to 120' in distance

Aether Wild Talents:
1: Basic Telekinesis: Works like Psychokinetic Hand spell
Skilled Kineticist: add +1d6 Insight bonus to class skills from Elemental Focus (Sleight of Hand and Engineering for Aether)
Telekinetic Finesse: Changes duration of PK hand to 1 minute/level and allows Kineticist to perform complex operations using telekinesis.

2: Greater Skilled Kineticist: Add an additional class skill that benefits from Skilled Kineticist
Telekinetic Haul: Increase weight limit for Basic Telekinesis to 100 lbs/level. Can spend a burn to increase that to 1,000 lbs/level for 1 min/level.

3: Telekinetic Invisibility: Works as per Invisibility Spell

4: Self Telekinesis: Works like flight III (self only), upgrades to flight IV at 10th and Flight V at 14
Telekinetic Maneuvers: Works like the Combat Manuever option of Telekinesis

Thanks Peet, but looking for 1st timers.

Dataphiles

I'm definitely interested. I've submitted this character twice before but was never selected. She's an Ace Pilot Lashunta Ghost Operative.
I'll double check that it meets your requirements. I'll also try and beef up the backstory. Two questions.

1) Do you want me to use your template or is the character sheet found in my profile acceptable?

2) How long are you running recruitment for?

I'd prefer that you use my template.

Deadline is February 11, 2018. 11:59 pm

Backstory really did come together here. What personality does Blacklock have? How do they get along with others?

Ok. Are you open to changing the race?

I'd like to submit Alpha-83, an Android Technomancer. I haven't had the opportunity to play Starfinder yet, and have not played the AP at all. The alias is reused from another game.

Never!!!!! (joking)

I am going to look through the races now to see if there is one (available) that i can fit his background.... even if it's pounding a square box into a round hole with a rubber mallet.

Excellent backstory, but the campaign starts off in a transport on its way to Absalom Station.

I like your template. It is really streamlined, yet very efficient.

Gearhead is an interesting 3PP. What class are you thinking?

Is the Ysoki a playable race?

Looking at the Mechanic class to switch to.

Yes to both. In fact, they synergize really well.

Also, I am realizing that the character template didn’t transfer like I had it set up because of bbc code. I will set up a better one.

The best way to do this would be to set up a public google doc and put the share link here. That'll preserve the code.

Similar to this sheet for Pathfinder.

Thanks! I hate clutter and redundancy. Also used to making quick characters on 3.5x5 note cards with son for real life games, not a lot of real estate on those!

Nope not at all. :)

Backstory Draft:

I am changing this story to fit the character and setting. But this is a draft of the original backstory.

Life used to be so simple back in the forest. I use to scurry in the trees, pick bugs out of my family and friends and even mess with the wild panthers of North America. Don't know the name of the land. Then the civilized monkeys came through the forest and laid down tracks and started to chug through it and make loud noises every so often. It was so loud that my family was talking about moving deeper into the forest. I was still young then and the big metal train captured my imagination, but they were too fast to catch and never stopped.
That is until one day, one stopped in the middle of our territory. My family watched as a horde of wild beasts attacked the train and were quickly dealt with. My family decided to leave the next day. While they were packing and getting things ready to go, I snuck away and was able to get into the head of the train.
It looked like one of those wild beasts got through and tore the inside of the head apart. There was one small, fat monkey in there. It looked like he was a Medicine Man, trying to heal this beast. I noticed him fumbling for some stick on the ground. He couldn't see where it was so I picked it up and handed it to him. He said something in his language that I didn't understand. Then he looked at me and I guess I scared him. He jumped and hit his head on the skull of the train. I moved back, tripping over a rock on the ground.
After a few minutes, he put the stick into the rock and sit down. He pulled out something from his pocket and took a bite and held out a piece for me. I looked at it and sniffed it. It smelled like old dead meat. Well, he was eating it, so I decided to give it a try. It wasn't bad. He soon went back to healing the train. I watched and it wasn't long until he had it fixed.
Then I saw this beast regain consciousness and start to slowly move. Before I knew it, he was pointing to things and trying to teach me his language. I didn't notice that we were leaving my home until we were already out of the forest and on a great plane.
After that, he took me back to his home. He lived in a forest with trees that didn't have leaves. There were some normal trees, but they were not many. I soon learned that these trees were called buildings and it wasn't a forest, but a town. The stick he was using on the Trains skull was a wrench and the rock was a toolbox.
Sanji Hancock taught me many things and I helped him out in his workshop since I came to the city. When we first met, he thought I was a monkey so he named me Chimp and it stuck.
Now, years later. We are still working in his workshop and business is good. I have learned many things from him and have started to tinker to make my own devices. That is until the earthquakes started. They tore through the workshop, knocking stuff off the wall, causing damages to the new home I have found.
When Sanji heard about the government sending out a party to investigate, he wanted to go. But Sanji is old, really old for a gnome and shouldn't be out exploring caves. I went in his stead.

Backstory:

Mei doesn't know where she was born, but she was raised on Kastrovel by a sect of Lashunta ascetics who were masters of the psionic arts. Even at a young age, Mei showed tremendous potential as a telekinetic. Being trained to harness her gift by the ascetics, it wasn't until more recently that she realized that she was being trained to be a killer, and after breaking into the Abbot's office, it was clear that they were training her to join the ranks of their order of assassins. Growing incredibly frightened, Mei fled Castrovel aboard a cargo ship.

While a stowaway on the ship, Mei was discovered by another passenger, a Starfinder agent by the name of Argent. Argent took her in after hearing her story and convinced her to join the Starfinder Society, where she could put her gifts and training to good use helping others.

@ Chimp, I can see where you are going with it. If you can modify it for the new character, it will work. Ysoki is a ratfolk. Is your character female? Also, I like the name Chimp Hancock, even for a Ysoki. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product.

@Vrog, I really like the write-up of this. Let me check to see if your submission OPs
the game down the road.

@ Phntm888, no need to change back story. I have a way for Breaker to meet the party while remaining on Absalom.

I'll be able to modify it. Chimp Hancock will be male. I was posting with Jane to see if her profile set up would be okay for you.

Yes. The template will work. Sorry for the confusion.

Dot Totally interested!

I'm thinking Elven or Lashuntan Envoy

Shows that I should have read the whole thread before beginning to update the character sheet. I just moved the entire backstory to Akiton.

I don't have the book, and the Wiki's setting information is incomplete. If Akiton doesn't work for the backstory, I'll move it back to Absalom Station.

Would love to have you, but you are in a Dead Suns game.

Okay. Back to Absalom Station it is.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Hey! I'm interested in playing this and this would be my first PbP, but I've lurked for a few weeks around here and have been interesting in getting in a Dead Suns game, so this seemed like a nice opportunity!

I know you've been particular about players not knowing the adventure though, so just wanted to ask since I did buy the first two books of the AP and have read about halfway into the first one, but haven't touched the second. Is that a deal breaker in terms of playing? I don't mind if it is, just wanted to let you know.

If I can play, I plan on creating a human or Lashunta envoy for this, though.
