With a crash and a groan the two ship come together. Over all lines. Calls out Mr. Plugg. The other ship remains surrounded by fog. But you can just make out some figures on the starboard side of their ship.
Options for boarding:
Grappling hook: Toss a grappling hook over (AC 5) and swing across on it then climb 15 feet up to the rails of the Man's Promise. DC 10 climb check to climb the rope. You will be flat footed for a turn unless you succeed at a dc 15 acrobatics check when coming over the rails. (Having actually done ship boardings, flatfooted is an understatement.) Full round action.
Jump: simply run and jump across, DC 20 (failure would be bad). You will not be flat footed. Move action.
Swing from mast: DC 10 Acrobatics check to get across. Beat a DC 15 to land on your feet. Landing on your feet will mean that you are not flat footed. Move action
Got a better idea: I am all for it, will definitely follow the rule of cool, if it sounds cinematic and you get a decent check I am all for it.
Calah Riptide
Calah looks at her animal companion and starts signalling it to follow her while she starts running for the other ship (effectively pushing the animal to carry her).
handle animal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Calah looks over her shoulder and sees that the bird is swooping towards her. She lifts her arms to grab the Roc's legs and jumps at the same time.
fly check Roc: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 (fly speed would drop to 55 due to heavy load)
Calah will let herself drop on the other ship.
Anything else i need to roll let me know. She might want to drop down shield first and bash the first pirate she sees, but I don't know how things play out visually. We getting a map?
MichaelCullen
So the Roc can't actually carry you unless you are a light load. (picking up some Muleback Cords will be a cheap way to make this happen.) But I can definitely see the Roc helping you get across almost hang glider style. So I am going to add its fly check to your acrobatics check to see if you can make it across. (Pretty Cinematic, don't worry we can have you pick up muleback cords in the next port, they are cheap and relatively common)
Calah's Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 1 + 14 = 26
Calah makes it across with the aid of her Roc. You see a couple figures in the mist perhaps five feet away. (you still have a standard action)
Calah Riptide
Cool cool :D
She readies an action to push her flame into the face of the first opponent that moves to attack her.
The Roc flies a little further up. He can't see anything with this mist.
.Suny.
"YIPEEE!" (^_^) Sunny hollers as she swings from her perch, aiming for the deck of the Aft-castle as per instructions/Orders.
Acrobatics:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Arcing through the air and alighting upon the deck.
"That were FUN! When can we do it agin?!" (^_^)
Calah Riptide
Were we ordered to land someplace specific?
Calah Riptide
Did Calah drop there as well? I missed that part oc :)
Calah Riptide
Nope that is fine, she won't go suicidal in another area :)
Noro the iron maiden
acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
not exactly the result I had hoped but it least its workable,
before the ships come together Noro grabs a hunk of reddish tobacco leaves and puts it in her mouth. the juices from the chew giving her a touch of euphoria and a readiness for battle. Her mouth blood red from the tobaccoo juices.
As the ships come together Noro grabs a rope swinging across gripping the rope with her legs and one hand putting her grappling experience to use holding the rope tight.
as she sails over the railing of the other ship she lands with a roll to her feet, and (hopefully) right in the face of whoever is manning the wheel.
letting hep saliva drool from her red mouth like the snarl of a blood crazed beast.
intimidation if it can be used: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Dimitrious Black
Now that Dimitri can make out the enemy, he unloads with MM on 1
MM: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 4) + 2 = 8
Arjun Srivastava
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Acrobatics 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30 Wow. Let's do something fun. :)
Arjun leaps off the mizzenmast for extra momentum, and swings through the air gracefully, like a serene bird of prey over the din of battle. Nearing the nadir of his arc, he snaps his legs forward to increase speed and releases near the apex. He somersaults several times in the air before reaching out and preternaturally grabbing a rope hanging from the enemy ship. He completes a second swing over the enemy deck, sailing over the stern castle railing and landing as sure-footed as a mountain goat behind the helmsman.
He scrapes the blades of his wakizashi together in a deadly hiss and takes an offensive stance. "Behold and despair, ye unfortunate souls! For death has come to visit you on black wings! Do not bother with prayers, for you will face your gods soon enough!"
Demoralize check.
Intimidate 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 Thank you, dice gods.
.Suny.
Suny claps her hands in appreciation of Arjun's awesome performance! (^_^)
MichaelCullen
The helmsman screams in terror before abandoning his post. As he runs forward on the ship Arjun and Noro get a chance to make good on their threats. The helmsman's fleeing provokes an attack of opportunity from both.
A sailor tries to skewer Calah on a short sword. Setting off her readied action. reflex save for the sailor: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
short sword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 101d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6partial concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 53
Another sailor attacks Kyranda while she is flat footed. short sword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 61d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7partial concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 2
Dimitrious can still make out figures in the mist.
Epic fail of a round for the other sailors, for percentile die, high is good, 1-20 miss.
Calah Riptide
Not sure if I hit the sailor with the produce flame? Its a touch attack which does 1d6+2 fire dmg
Dimitrious Black
Fire for Effect: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 3) + 2 = 9
Sniping one attacking Calah
Noro the iron maiden
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
miss?: 1d100 ⇒ 56 = hit
damage: 1d3 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
As the sailor tries to flee Noro growls as she does a quick flip and her foot slams onto the sailor (assuming a 16 is a hit).
she then turns to face the next enemy
.Suny.
At work
Sunny does her best to help Kyranda by making herself an obvious threat. Stepping closer she calls out warning-ly,
"Hey! I got a sword too!" *Waves Aldori deuling sword provocitavly in sailor's direction/face*
Please 'Bot' intimidate/bluff/etc as needed. (^_^)
Calah Riptide
Calah goes to the next pirate and puts a flame to his face
touchattack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
MichaelCullen
@ Calah, I was not sure what attack you were doing,I suppose I could have guessed, in the future feel free to roll your readied actions ;)
Calah's Produce Flame: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 41d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4Concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 9
Calah's hand wreathed in flame lashes out at the sailor in front of her, she misses but as she does the sailor takes a hit from Dimitrious's magic missile.
Noro connects hard with the helmsman as he runs away.
Sunny distracts the sailor who attacked Kyranda, the sailor turns her attention on Sunny.
MichaelCullen
For right now I am unable to post a map. I would like to but the network I am on blocks that ability so we are going narrative style, the results are fairly cinematic so I am not too worried about it.
The Helmsman gets another gash from Arjun's sharp sword before he manages to run up forward and disappear into the mist.
The sailor who swung at Calah lies on the ground not moving a scorch mark across his face.
Three more sailors run up out of the fog.
A well dressed female officer attacks Arjun with a boarding pike.
Boarding Pike: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 121d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 88
Another Swings a sword at CalahShort Sword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 181d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 50
And the third tries to take a slice out of Sunny
Short Sword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 211d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 12
Calah Riptide
"Damn you landlubber! I'll teach you attacking me is a bad idea! Go swim with the sharks!"
Hydraulic maneuver: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Calah takes a step backward and starts speaking in Aquan. She summons a large splash of water that circles around her while she is waving her arms. Calah has an upset glare in her eyes and gathers the water around. She makes a circle and pushes all the water out in one strong jet, pushing the poor pirate overboard.
think waterbender meets kamehameha
.Suny.
At work
Suny continues to grin, even as asecond person materializes out of the fog and swings at her.
The DM's rolls indicate a miss because of the mists, right?
The tanned Elf does not counter attack immediately. Instead she draws a short 'L' shaped stick from its sheath across the small of her back with her 'off' hand. Deftly flipping it so as to lie along the edge of her forearm. So equiped she continues to help.
keep foes from hurting Kyranda as she regains her footing.
"I in't had a work out like this in ages!" She gleefuly exclaims. (^_^)
Fighting defensivly for Suny at the moment with two against one. Please 'Bot' as needed.
Jax Kraven
|
Jax will magic missile the closest person to him that is trying to board our ship with a grappling hook, hopefull it will cause him to fall. damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
MichaelCullen
The pirate who attacked Calah is hit with a gush of water, looses his footing and falls overboard, a splash and a scream follow.
Jax fires bolts of force at the one who took a stab at Sunny. None of them are trying to board your boat, they are simply trying to defend theirs, so I had you target one of the sailors you could see.
Two sailors remain at the stern of the ship. The female officer and the one Jax just hit with his magic missile.
Dimitrious Black
I will continue to snipe the ones attacking Calah. She does have 2 on her correct
MM: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2) + 2 = 7 same one I hit before if he is still standing
Jax Kraven
|
Dimitrious, MM only does 1d4+1 damage at level 2, not till level 3 do you get the increased damage, so you dealt 4 damage.
Dimitrious Black
Dimitrious, MM only does 1d4+1 damage at level 2, not till level 3 do you get the increased damage, so you dealt 4 damage.
I have the "penumbra" cantrip and cast at 1 level higher when in dim or less light
Calah Riptide
Calah says to the officer "Ye might wanna be surrendrin' lass. there not be many of yer crew left. Ye be treated fairy if ye surrender."
Noro the iron maiden
Noro moves toward the one that looks like an officer. attempting to come up from behind. she zone in on that one target. practically ignoring the others.
attack w/rage: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 (+2 more for flank if she can get it)
Noro's rage becomes apparent, she lets the adrenaline flow and she becomes one with the battle her teeth blood red from the chew.
she comes up from behind the female officer and grabs her shoulder to spin her around to face Noro Pick on shomeone your own shize b+~~~ and Noro lays into her with a right hook.
damage if a hit: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Noro the iron maiden
Arjun, I might be able to help, if she attacked with a reach weapon you can get a full attack via a simple 5' step, if it works out right you will be getting flank with Noro, Sneak attack time. looks like that officer is stuck between a rock and a hard place (noro the rock, and you the hard place
Say goodnight lady...hehehe
Arjun Srivastava
Arjun slashes with his wakizashi at the ship's officer, his blades somewhat erring due to the smoke and haze.
wakizashi 1
attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
wakizashi 2
attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Noro the iron maiden
don't forget +2 to hit for flank so that second attack may hit also sneak attack as well, also burn ki point for an extra attack
Arjun Srivastava
I forgot about that, thanks.
DM, my attacks from earlier should be 9 and 16. Flanking should also give me sneak attack damage for each attack.
sneak attack 1
1d6 ⇒ 4 for wakizashi 1
sneak attack 2
1d6 ⇒ 2 for wakizashi 2
Per Noro's recommendation, I will burn a ki point for another attack.
wakizashi 3 w/ ki point
attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Critical confirmation
damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
sneak attack 3
1d6 ⇒ 1 for wakizashi 3
Rachel Riptide
NM found em
Calah walks up to the redheaded babe who winked at her earlier and says (loud enough for others to hear)"Well met, could you lead me to the Galley? I'm sure Mr. Scourge would not want me to be lost on the ship. I could walk in on the Captain while hes on the privy with my luck!"
sense motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Seeing as the cook is too drunk to do a thing Rachel will search the Galley to see if there is anything of use in there, for cooking and to defend herself should it be needed.
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
drunk: 1d2 ⇒ 2
job: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Calah will have to hunt for turtles and will have her Roc assist her in that.
survival: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 11 + 2 = 27
survival roc: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
profession cook: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Rachel cooks an incredible good turtle stew for everyone to enjoy. It is nice and spicey with some fresh fruit (purify water and food spell^^) and water with some cucumber flavor in it. Even the normally moldy and dry bread tastes fresh out of the oven.
Calah Riptide
Sorry about that post. It's the wrong S&S game :S. Can't delete it anymore :/. But I flagged it for removal, hope someone comes by to remove it.

Dang! Here I were hopin' it were tha' victory feastin' rolls. (^_^)
Calah Riptide
Will have some victory feast tonight ;)
MichaelCullen
@ Calah, I was like HUH?? In the middle of battle, that is dedication to the culinary arts.
concealment for Noro's attack: 1d100 ⇒ 47
concealment for Arjun's attacks: 1d100 ⇒ 571d100 ⇒ 331d100 ⇒ 70
No concealment misses.
The officer takes a hard hit from Noro, dodges a hit from Arjun only to be hit twice by him. Concealment negates sneak attack but not the flanking bonus. She does not look well off.
The officer takes a five foot step and stabs at Noro. boarding pike: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 171d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 71d100 ⇒ 67
The remaining other sailor tries to stab at Sunny.
boarding pike: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 171d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 31d100 ⇒ 28
As this happens the fog breaks and you can see up to the front of their ship. You can see Captain Harrigan about to enter a hatch about 30 feet in front of you. Behind him is a sailor running at him about to strike. Captain Harrigan seems unaware.
No concealment this round.
