Side Note: I will try to frequently repost the Battle Map link, just so players don't have to constantly scan through the forum to find it. For those with access to the Battle Map, feel free to move your own characters. For those without, I will move your characters based on info you type in the forum.
Foul Vaghdra |
Still whispering
Me no like stinkbugs. No badsouls Foul can eat.
To Quivrel:
Them keep shiny-shiny in belly? No shiny-shiny - Foul no like mess with stinkbugs. Them stupid.
Big ugly smile.
Bile Ratsear |
Bile will try to follow quietly stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
DM Kor |
As the group of 5 curious goblins carefully move forward to examine the bugs, their whispered discussion debating their next action seems to have been picked up by the insects. The mining beetles mandibles begin to scythe back and forth rapidly, as they prepare their attack.
You may act in any order, in your initiative group.
Initiative rolls:
Bile: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Dogdog 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Quivrel 1d12 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Jakka 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Foul 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Beetles 1d12 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Initiative order:
Group 1: Dogdog & Foul
Group 2: Bile, Quivrel & Jakka
Group 3: Beetles
Group 1 is up.
Bile Ratsear |
I am but I'm group 2
Dogdog |
Dogdog rolls his eyes at the other goblin's lack of understanding of his obvious hand gestures and decides that he's done waiting.
Turning around to see the advancing bugs, he and his trusty wolf both lunged forward on all fours at some unspoken signal between them. Dogdog dove at one of the skittering things and driving his wolf-skull hand-puppet forth like a snapping animal.
Charge, flanking: 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 + 2 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Current AC 17
Dogdog's dog, Dog |
Dog swept around to the other side as his little brother, catching the bug between them.
Attack, flanking: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Trip (if attack hits): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 = 12
Dog can't charge into Flanking position because charging has to be in a straight line.
Foul Vaghdra |
Gnaaaah! Dum bugs! Vaghdra squish you like stink!
Vaghdra calls on her deity to protect her, and then moves to join Dogdog and Dog.
Swift action: Resiliency judgment (DR1/Magic)
Move Action: As I'm not sure where Dogdog ended up - it depends on whether 11H or 11J is Vaghdra's final square.
Standard Action:
If move ends at 11H: Cast Shield of Faith on self. New AC 20.
If move ends at 11J: Attack Bug 8 with flail: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
(If Critical - Threat: 1d20 ⇒ 17)
Quivrel Licktoad |
Quivrel hops around the corner, and with an enthusiastic squeal, points at one of the bugs across the room. "I makes you fall into my mouth, bug-bug!" he croaks. Standing close, one can feel a hint of the ill-feeling the Goblin Witch hurls at his enemy. The effect for the target must be a hundred times worse.
Move to H-11, use Misfortune on Bug 1. DC 15 Will.
DM Kor |
Dogdog, currently there are not really any bugs you can easily flank. Could you please use the battle map references to tell me where you move to and which bug you attack (i.e. move to K12 and attack Bug2). I will just move you into the room to where I think you may have wanted to go to. Bug2 is in the center of the action so I have move you into it. I have moved Dogdog into flank position, however this means he is surrounded by foes now.

Round 1 - Group 1 Results
Dogdog and Dog dart into the room and flank a confused looking mining beetle. Dogdog strikes out at the beetle but finds his blow bouncing off the armored husk of the beetle's shell.
Dogdog takes a bit out of the bug, as his powerful jaws sink into, cracking through its carapace. The wolf shakes his head violently to try to uproot the beetle, but it easily resist the attempt to topple it. It looks grievously injured.
Foul Vaghdra then slips into the room and swings her flail at the first target she finds, but misses the agile bug.
DM Kor |
So Vaghdra is at J11, and Quivrel at H11?
Yes, I have updated the battle map now.
DM Kor |
Concerned about Dogdog's pet, Jakka runs into the room and thrusts her spear at one of the flanking bugs.
Jakka moves to I11, and attacks Bug5 with her longspear
Longspear attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Longspear damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
DM Kor |
Move to H-11, use Misfortune on Bug 1. DC 15 Will.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Surprisingly, the bug seems to shake off the effect.
Foul Vaghdra |
Umm, DM Kor, Vaghdra can only move 20' in hide armor, so J11 was the furthest she could reach. You have her at I11. But I don't really mind. Let's just roll with it...;p
Bile Ratsear |
Bile pulls out three stones from his pouch and casts a spell (magic stone)
"These rocks mess em up good"

I think you mean "Jakka". I forgot that Feral Gnasher removes the Fast Movement feature. Oh well... she managed to get an extra burst of speed somehow :)

Round 1 - Group 2 Results
Quivrel rounds the corner and tries to use some of his goblin mojo on a bug... it doesn't seem to phase it though.
Jakka comes running around the corner with an amazingly fast dash and attempts to spear a beetle, but misses.
Bile cast an enchantment on some stones.

Onto Round 2, Group 1 is up
Foul Vaghdra |
Ignoring her pitiful attempt to make meat out of the menacing bug, Vaghdra looks over to her companions further in the room. Seeing Dog and Dogdog fairly surrounded, Vaghdra yells a battlecry and moves to aid them...
"Diiiiiiieeeeee stinkgbugs!!!"
Move action: Move J11 to K10. (AoO from Bug 8?)
Standard Action: Attack Bug 1 with flail: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

DM Kor |
Move action: Move J11 to K10. (AoO from Bug 8?)
It's just a 5' step, so no AoO
[EDIT: Oh yay! Rolled a 1!]
Hurray, house rule time. Roll a REF save DC 5.
DM Kor |
Ooh, I like it! But do you mean 1d20 + Reflex save bonus, or just straight d20?If the former, my Reflex bonus is +6 - so unless I roll another 1 I'm safe?
Yes, 1d20 + Reflex save bonus. This means something bad will only happen to you if you roll a 1. Although I do like the possibility of serious fumbles occurring, I didn't want them to be a significant game changer. I have had a lot of "colorful" game moments occur in the past from bumbled attack rolls and skills checks (that's right, also rolling a 1 on a skill check does not guarantee success).
Bile Ratsear |
Bile slings a magic stone bullet at bug4 to avoid penalties for shooting into melee
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Bile Ratsear |
my 2 damage :(
DM Kor |
Dogdog continues his attack, angry at his brother's wounds.
Just a quick note - Dogdog was the one hit, not Dog.
DM Kor |
Round 2 - Combat Report
Dogdog and Dog continue to use their flank to their advantage to attempt to take down a bug Bug2. Dog goes in for another bite, but the beetle is too agile and wolf doesn't even touch it. With the bug's attention focused on Dog, Dogdog manages to land a blow between the chitinous plates of the beetle and drops it dead to the ground as it makes a high pitched squeal.
The fearless Vaghdra moves between two beetles in an attempt to help out her fellow gobo. While moving and attacking, she finds her foot being pulled out from under her as she steps in beetle excrement. Foul's quick reflexes allows her to recover her footing without breaking her stride, but her attack was clearly a miss.
Bile slings a stone at the furthest away beetle Bug4. The stone flies amazingly strait, as it glides through flailing goblins and skittering bugs to find it's mark. Bile's missile hits the beetle right between its mandibles. Its attention seems to be focused solely on him.
Quivrel was about to throw a curse at the flanked beetle Bug1, but it was slain, so he refocuses his mojo at the next nearest beetle, which quickly succumbs to the effect.
Jakka pokes her longspear at beetle Bug1 and his it solidly. Her spear easy slides through the innards of the bug's head, and it collapses to the floor instantly.
The bugs all continue to attack their previous targets, except for one annoyed bug Bug4 moves towards the hallway where the rest of the goblins are, however after drawing an attack from the wolf, it refocuses its attention on Dog.
The beetle Bug8 behind Vaghdra clamps down hard on her leg with its mandibles. Dog receives two bites from beetles Bug5 & Bug6 . The tough and hardy wolf is looking a little hurt now.

Jakka attacks Bug 1:
Longspear attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Longspear damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Dog can make an AoO on Bug4
Onto Round 3, Group 1 is up.
Foul Vaghdra |
Nyaaaaaargh! Stinkbug slime and stinkbug bite! Owwwww!
Vaghdra's body resists some of the damage of the insect's bite*, Hadregash once again protects his servant. Looking around quickly, Vaghdra decides Jakka and the others can deal with Bug 8. She moves again to aid the beleaguered Dogdog, whipping Meatmaker at the insect on Dogdog's flank.
*(Vagdra's Resiliency judgment reduces damage by 1)
5' step to L10. Attack Bug 3 with flail: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage:1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
(If Critical, Threat Roll:1d20 ⇒ 4)
Dogdog |

Lamesauce
Dogdog lashes out as the bug tries to move past him, then he follows it continuing his savage assault. 5' adjust to K11
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
DM Kor |
Dogdog lashes out as the bug tries to move past him, then he follows it continuing his savage assault.
Bug4 had moved around the side wall of the cave, only drawing an AoO from Dog. The attack roll is still fine, but damage needs to be re-rolled, so I will just do that now quickly:
1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
DM Kor |
Round 3 - Group 1 Results
As a bug tries to make its way around Dog, he snarls and lunges his head at it, grabbing it by its little bug head and shakes it violently until its carapace-covered body detaches from it and goes flying across the room.
The wolf then turns its attention to a beetle behind it, and bites at its leg, giving it a violent tug out of it's socket. Mortally wounded, Dogdog lashes out with his whip at it and drops the beetle.
Feeling inspired by the turn of events, Vaghdra strikes his flail at the bug behind him and connects solidly, greatly wounding the creature.
Bug3 and Bug4 are slain.
Bile Ratsear |
Bile will step forward while drawing his rusty dagger and stab at Bug8 from square I11.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2
DM Kor |
DM Kor - Vaghdra should be in L10 (my post said 5' step to L10) - as Bug 3 was in M10?!?!
I already forget where it was :) I've updated your position now.
