Idgethun |
Idgethun steps forward to let the long stream of Pathfinders and pets file into the room behind her. She finds Tseka to be a poor negotiator. "Why should we let you walk free? We have you both. Trapped." She smiles. "So I offer you a choice. Lay down your weapons, dismiss your spells, and come quietly -- and you will come to no harm. If you do not come quietly, well..." She hefts her falchion.
Also going to take this opportunity to refresh my active bull's strength spell.
DM Khel |
”Of course I am Tseka,” the ratfolk replies dismissively. ”And of course I have seen the world above, but I prefer the nice dark, hidden world of Deepmarket.” Turning to Idgethun, she studies him a moment, gazing at his holy symbol before saying, ”You think you’re a merchant, with Abadar’s key around your neck? I’ll make no deal on those terms. As for having us trapped - you’ll find it’s harder to trap a rat than you think.”

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Rakhshara sneers as his eidolon slithers forward, opening it's mouth to reveal a set of razor sharp fangs. Rakshara then says in a cold but measured tone, "While it may be hard to trap a rat, there is no better animal to do so than a snake."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Idgethun |
Idgethun points to the tattoo of Abadar's sacred key on her cheek and smiles softly. "You may live in Deepmarket, but my patron is no more fond of your disruptive and illegal business practices than I. No deal? No problem. We will just do this the hard way."
She prays to her god for might (cast Divine Favor) and advances to face-off with the ratfolk.
I am assuming that triggers combat? If not, Idgethun will smack her upside the head with the flat of her falchion...
DM Khel |
Hmm, my post got eaten this afternoon. No great loss, I suppose, since it only said I’d already rolled initiative but would have to make the first combat post later.
I also see that I failed to include one part of the room description, though not a hugely important one. A jumble of heavy furniture lies against the door in the northwest corner of the room, making it difficult terrain, and explaining why the door was so hard to open from the other side. That’s why there’s a little cartoon of a pile of furniture there.
As Idgethun makes clear that she aims to misbehave, a trap door flies open on the stage. A ratfolk head pops out, and then another next to it. One of the ratfolk takes aim at Igdethun and lets fly with a crossbow bolt!

Bodo is planning on casting Blessing of Fervor on the PC's. So, pic one at the beginning of each of your turns:
-Increase its speed by 30 feet.
-Stand up as a swift action without provoking an attack of opportunity.
-Make one extra attack as part of a full attack action, using its highest base attack bonus.
-Gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves.
-Cast a single spell of 2nd level or lower as if it were an enlarged, extended, silent, or still spell.
Bodo casts his spell and orders Smiley to attack.
He wants to move up, but there's no room. Will adjust as the hallway clears out... (Where the Badgerine is now)
Kevin "Drizz'n" Marshall |
Drizz'n steps in and throws a rime-bound gloom at the rat folk on the stage.
I"m not quite sure where the rat folk popped out at. The white icon beneath Tseka?
Gloom!: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 vs touch AC
Gloom Damage: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3) + 6 = 21
Frozen Shadow Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5
Gavin de Roche |
"I'll keep Makino occupied. Someone knock Tseka out. Alive!" Gavin calls out to the group. He then looks to Buster, points at the traitor, and says, "Fetch boy!" Swift Action to do Ferocious Fetch.
Turn to continue after Buster...
Buster, Gavin's Companion |
"Woof!" the faithful dog barks, rushing forward to drag Makino toward his master
Drag Maneuver: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
I'm going to assume that succeeds, and position accordingly
Buster grabs a leg and drags the former Pathfinder towards the group!
Gavin de Roche |
"Good boy!" Gavin compliments his dog, drawing his greatsword and moving while letting a controlled rage wash over him. "Now, to deal with a bad Pathfinder..."
Attack w/Greatsword (Rage, PA, Flank): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
Damage: 2d6 + 16 ⇒ (2, 3) + 16 = 21
DM Khel |
Wow, Gavin ninja’d the heck out of me, had to recraft a good chunk of that post!
Drizz’n – yes, there are two white icons below Tseka, one for each ratfolk. They are sharing a square, as rats do.
Buster charges forward, seizes Makino in his teeth like a traitorous rag doll and drags him towards the Pathfinders! Gavin then deals a powerful cut to the rogue Pathfinder agent, as Smiley advances into the room and gets behind Makino!
Drizz’n’s gloomy attack misses the nimble ratfolk leader, but his shot is still a lucky one, as it strikes the two ratfolk in the trap door! Their little whiskers freeze up a bit, and they glare at the gloom chymist fiercely!
Strangely, Tseka seems to not react to the cold, and simply stands in the freezing gloom it creates on the stage.
Drizz’n, give me a Will save, please.

Was there a spell effect or anything?
Zirt Fzerkinkratzcher |
I moved Zirt and Benedict into starting positions in the entrance to the room (and then counted this turn's movement thence).
"Now you listen to me!" cries Zirt, her voice becoming a bit more shrill as her patience wears thin. "Were you even listening to me? Do you even have a mother? How could you not care what she thinks of you? Or maybe she already disowned you? Is that it??"
I'm mocking her! Will DC 18 or she is angered by the performance and seeks to harm the prankster. While Zirt maintains the mocking, Tseka Teksa –2 penalty on all attack rolls and skill checks until she has successfully attacked Zirt with a melee or ranged attack, or has harmed her with a spell that deals damage.
Benedict, sniffing prey, shuffles forward and bites at the rat experimentally.
Chomp: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
DM Khel |
Drizz’n studies the way his chymical gloom interacts with Tseka on the stage – and concludes she is an illuuuusion! Any real person would at least shiver with the biting cold, or put on a sweater, but Tseka seems not to react in any way – and no one could be so unmoved by Drizzn’s super-cool rimes!
Will vs mockery, DC 18: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Zirt successfully mocks Tseka as Benedict shuffles forward, looking nearly as deadly as a badger, and bites! He makes contact with something, which lets out a surprised yelp!
Benedict Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Bite Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
DM Khel |
The eidolon’s attack does not connect with the figure on the stage!
Makino yanks himself clear of Buster’s teeth and takes a step back, putting himself perilously close to Smiley’s jaw as he casts a spell. At almost the same moment, a figure steps from the shadows behind one of the columns! It is a female ratfolk with a shortsword in her hand and, strangely enough, her shadow seems to slip out from under her feet and stand by her side! The illusionary Tseka on the stage vanishes, only to reveal another armed ratfolk concealed behind it!

And just so it’s clear what happened – you guys were talking to an illusion of Tseka, with another ratfolk behind it who was actually doing the talking for the illusion. And now Tseka has appeared out of the shadows and vanished back into them, though her shadowy companion is still visible. Knowledge (religion) to recognize the shadowy companion.
Edit: and Benedict gets an AoO vs Tseka!
Zirt Fzerkinkratzcher |

I THINK that's 7! Been on nights this week my cognitive skills aren't great on a good day ;-)
DM Khel |
Did we figure out who gets BoF?
We did not. I think we can assume all melee characters have it, but I'd like Bodo to decide the rest.
Benedict snaps at the real Tseka, and draws first blood on the ratfolk leader! AoO was at Tseka as she ran by - the rapier-wielder took a 5-foot step.
Zirt recognizes the shadowy thing as a shadow, an incorporeal undead, though this one seems somehow more substantial than she expects, and to be working in close cooperation with Tseka.

Igdethun’s blade, enhanced with divine power to destroy creatures such as the shadow, does just that! His first strike seems to thin the shadow greatly, and the second scatters it into fading fragments of shadow that melt away!
The two ratfolk remaining on the stage scramble off it and out of the ice-cold shadow of Drizz'n's gloom. Leaping under and over each other, almost seeming to be in the same place at once, they dart towards Idgethun and strike at him!

Rakshara |
The eidolon hisses, and begins a full assault on the ratfolk that was masquerading as Tseka. When you quarry has gone to ground, leave no ground to go to. Idgethun's golden irises shine with a blinding sheen, and her burnished hair blazes like the golden sun. The shadows retreat beneath the stage and behind the pillars, trying to escape the cruel light that shouts from every corner.
