Welcome everybody to Kingmaker! I hope we have a very interesting, fun and creative game. I would like every player to make a little introduction of his character (both story and stats wise) so we all know what we're playing for.
I hope it's not asking for too much but please post always in alias to make it less confusing and please have the stats and backstory in the alias profile so I have easy access to it.
Welcome once again! Let's get ready for the adventure!

Lysa Arianna |

Hello all, this is Lysa Arianna.
She is a half-elf Witch with the Bastard campaign trait. Arianna is the name of her elven mother's family since she is currently unacknowledged by her human father and his family. Her reason for going on this mission is to try to prove herself worthy of her father's name and to hopefully earn his love and respect.
I still need to work up my gear list. My least favorite thing to do so I always wait until I know if I've gotten in to do it. :)
Weight: 115
Hair: Shoulder length and a black so deep it has blue highlights.
Eyes: Dark indigo that shift towards red when she casts her hexes.

Hexes
Healing: A witch can soothe the wounds of those she touches. This acts as a cure light wounds spell, using the witch's caster level. Once a creature has benefited from the healing hex, it cannot benefit from it again for 24 hours. At 5th level, this hex acts like cure moderate wounds.
Slumber: A witch can cause a creature within 30 feet to fall into a deep, magical sleep, as per the spell sleep. The creature receives a Will save to negate the effect. If the save fails, the creature falls asleep for a number of rounds equal to the witch’s level. This hex can affect a creature of any HD. The creature will not wake due to noise or light, but others can rouse it with a standard action.

Tudan Davken |

Thank you! This is my first PbP game, and in fact my first Pathfinder game, as a 2e player rediscovering the hobby.
The long version is in my profile. The short version is that Tudan is a half-celestial aasimar raised by halflings, because the combination of metallic golden hair and incurably twisted legs -- both blessed and cursed by the gods -- scared off his own mother, let alone most potential adoptive parents. He learned how to handle different kinds of people gracefully, working in his parents' taverns as they moved around Brevoy and the River Kingdoms; then learned how to get along in the wilderness as he got older and felt drawn to the outdoors.
After developing an instinctive talent for divine magic, he reluctantly took his leave to figure himself out, and they gave him a horse so that he could do it as quickly as possible and come back faster (they joked). When he heard the call for adventurers to tame the Stolen Lands, it sounded like a great way to do that.
Technically, Tudan is a healer-buffer: an oracle of life who can channel positive energy, cast bless and "cure" spells, and give +4 with Aid Another. Despite (or perhaps because of) his distinctive appearance, he prefers to stand back and help other people shine. Let's see... he isn't even trained in Diplomacy yet and he's already good at it. Also, he has lots of oil and no lantern, because he can see in the dark and has light spells, but he can't afford the acid and alchemist's fire that he'd rather have for dealing with things like swarms and trolls that older woodsmen have told him about. Oh, and he can channel to heal you without healing your opponent, thanks to Selective Channeling.

Hathin De'Lark |

Greetings all, this will be a little short as I've a full day at work today but should give you a flavour. Profile will be updated by latest tonight.
Hathin is an Elven Druid, with the Menhir Savant archetype and Eagle domain instead of an animal companion. The domain gets him an increased level of spellcasting (through the domain slots) compared to an average Druid. Although he will have an Eagle familiar - it won't be of much use in combat.
He will be providing ranged support with a longbow, as well as spellcaster support. Early spells are mainly controlling (like entangle) - but as he grows into power they will start getting more destructive in bent. Will also provide off-healing as well.
From a RP perspective Hathin is a follower of the Green Faith, which finds divinity in all the natural world. Personality will be a little barren at first, though he'll get animated if animals or nature are involved. As the profile pic suggests he is fairly insular as a start - though will blossom out as we adventure.
Email is sweetmanmark at hotmail.com

Geoffrey Whittaker |

Salutations!
I will be bringing Geoffrey Whittaker, a NG Half-Elven Rogue, and follower of Erastil, to the table.
Geoffrey is lean and lightly muscled, with pale skin, short-cropped black with a pronounced widow’s peak, and piercing blue eyes. He usually dresses simply in a chain shirt, covered with a tabard dyed black and crimson. Generally, he moves with an almost cat-like grace, the sound of his passage being only the merest whisper, and he continually shifts his gaze, trying to take in everything around him.
Geoffrey is, at least at level 1, primarily a skill monkey (covering Acrobatics, Appraise, Disable Device, Escape Artist, Knowledge(Local), Linguistics, Perception, Sense Motive, Sleight of Hand, and Stealth) and trap-finder, but once he hits level 2 and picks-up Weapon Finesse, he will start to be much more effective in close combat.
My e-mail address is spoilered on Geoffrey's profile.

Geoffrey Whittaker |

Alright, so, the party consists of:
Lysa Arinna, NG Half-Elf Witch
Tudan Davken, NG Aasimar Oracle of Life
Hathin De'lark, ?? Elf Druid(Menhir Savant) - Green Faith
Geoffrey Whittaker, NG Half-Elf Rogue - Erastil
Brennor Styvolich, LG Human Paladin - Erastil
Edmond Odravam, LG Human Fighter

Tudan Davken |

Hathin De'Lark |

To fill in the question marks, I'm going to start Hathin out as a True Neutral. He will definately have a 'good' bent to him, and won't be doing anything 'evil' but I'll be looking to explore the balance of nature aspects.

Edmond Odravam |

Here's Edmond Odravam, LG Fighter. He'll be making use of the Aldori Swordlord archtype, so we'll see how that goes. Personality wise Edmond is slightly grim, his background made sure of that. He is determined however and knows his morals now more than ever, and he'll be outspoken about them.
Still need to buy equipment, So i should get that done tonight or tomorrow.

Physical Description:
Edmond is tall and wiry. At 6'2, but weighing only about 160 pounds, he doesn't look like the classic swordsman, however, his steps are sure and graceful and he flows like a river with his chosen blade in hand. His armor and clothing are worn pristine, and his black hair is kept short. Edmond has sad eyes, and his gaunt face looks tired beyond his 28 years, cheeks sunken and covered in coarse stubble, he bears considerable bags beneath his eyes. He dresses often in tones of blue, orange, and greens.
Background:
Twenty Eight years ago, a crying babe was born to the young couple of Edmond and Johanna Odravam. The parents named the Boy after his Father, and so began Edmond the second's path. His parents had been born in Restov as had their parents and their parents before them. His father opened a small dueling school, utilizing a technique modeled after the Aldori Swordlords.
By the time Edmond was a teenager, the school had become a success. Although the boy displayed natural talent for the blade, and though his father had hoped his son would live as a swordsman, Edmond originally pursued a life as an engineer working for the city of Restov. He had always had a calculating mind, and displayed an aptitude for mathematical equations associated with his first career. He married the daughter of an Accomplished engineer on his 18th birthday and was taken under his father-in-law's wing. Life was good for the young man, and was as such for nearly half a decade.
Tragedy struck when Edmond and his wife Ava were in the Stolen Lands. The couple were staying in a small encampment while Edmond helped oversee the construction of a nearby bridge. The job was the largest he had been involved with, and Ava had recently discovered she was pregnant. Life was moving along smoothly for the ambitious couple. It wouldn't last however.
A group of bandits who made their living ambushing travelers further down the river feared the bridge would threaten their livelihood, took action, and burnt the bridge, and raided the encampment under the cover of night. Against his wife's protests, Edmond picked up his Aldori Dueling sword and rushed to fight back. Overwhelmed, brash, and overconfident, Edmond took a blow to the head from a club and was knocked unconscious early in the fight. The hired muscle of the camp were able to finally repel the attackers, but not before numerous lives were lost, and the bridge was damaged beyond repair. Edmond awoke to the smell of charred wood and the news that the life he had known had quickly been dismantled by this bandit attack. Ava, and his unborn child, had been murdered in cold blood, as she tried to pull his unconscious body to cover. So it goes.
In the weeks and months following the incident, Edmond fell into a deep depression. He felt ultimately responsible for the death of his family, had he not been so weak, he could have saved them, he told himself. His father invited the now 25 year old back to his Dueling School, and although Edmond took months to escape his self pity, eventually he accepted the offer, and began his martial training.
Edmond has displayed an unparallelled devotion to the Aldori Dueling blade in the last three years and has quickly became his father's star pupil. His father was asked to send his best student to the ball in Restov where several groups will be brought before being sent to tame the wild Stolen Lands, and Edmond was the obvious choice.

Hathin De'Lark |

On spell selections, is Lysa happy to take the mantle of off-healer? - between Tudan and your healing hex we should be fairly well covered there?
Means that I would be able to slot in Shilleagh and Entangle alongside my domain spell Aspect of the Falcon (and not keep one open for Cure Light).
Oh and Brennor - do you have Faiths of Purity? - if not, would you like me to transcribe across the Paladin's code for Erastil?

Hathin De'Lark |

Excellent good - Hathin will of course always have the capability and once I get a few more spell slots will make sure to pick some up as back-ups.
Finally got around to equipment and now have to stretch 70gp a long way :)

Brennor Styvolich |

ooh could you please post that? I've just sort of been making it up in my head lol
Brennor is a jovial human in his early 20s who screams rugged traveler. He's quick to make friends and has the patience of a saint and while he's lawful good he seeks a more natural order; a balance between the wilds and between 'civilization' which he sees as an extension of nature. And still working on equipment; mostly just the camping gear

As requested - please find below:
My community comes first, and I will contribute to it all that I can. If I don't give back, who will?
I must offer the poor in my community assistance, but I may not do the work for them - instead, I must teach them to rely on themselves. It is only through cooperation that a community grows strong.
When danger threatens, I am not a fool. I seek first to make sure the weak and innocent are safe, and then quell the danger.
I keep to the old ways, the true ways. I am not seduced by the lure of money or power. I remember that true honor comes from within, not from the accolades of others.
I remember that reputation is everything. Mine is pure and upstanding, and I will repair it if it is broken or tarnished. I stand by my decisions, and live so that none shall have cause to blame me.
I show respect to my elders, for they have done much. I show respect to the young, for they have much left to do. I show respect to my peers, for they carry the load. And I shall carry it with them.
I am honest, trustworthy, and stable. If I must leave my lands and community, before I go, I ensure that they will be tended in my absence. Even when duty calls, my duries to my home come first - letting them lapse makes me a burden on my people.
As with everything it is a guideline - but it makes a nice framework to hang your belief structure and actions upon.

Hathin De'Lark |

Don't worry Lysa - the eagle will be friendly (and has more of a taste for rabbit :)
DM_Keddah - I know that the Pioneer trait grants a horse as a freebie, can I assume that includes a saddle, saddlebags and some feed? - currently squeezing as much as I can in under 70gp and the saddle is blowing the budget.

DM_Keddah |

I come back from taking the kids to school and find you've been planning things without the need of me insisting you do it. That's refreshing from some of the IRL groups I've had. The Pioneer Trait gives you only the horse but you can ride it without saddles (although if you come to a combat situation it wouldn't be easy. You won't be given horses for your mission, but you may buy them or maybe requisition them from some bandits.
Once you're ready, come over here

DM_Keddah |

About the rolls, I do most dice rolls in the open. I just keep for myself those for NPC's bluff checks and for those characters I don't want you to know their stats (main NPCs mostly) I also prefer to do your Sense Motive rolls if you don't mind, you just call for a roll and I make it and tell you if you find something out. I think this helps the mistery and makes for a more enjoyable experience but I'm open to suggestions.
About the combat encounters, I'm thinking about using maps hosted in google docs for the encounters but being my first PbP DMing I don't know how that will work, do any of you have experience or proposals for this?
I think the pace is good despite the fact I seem to get up when you're in your deepest sleep, I'm guessing all of you are in America.

Lysa Arianna |

Yep, and on east coast standard time. Though I work night shift and have two small children so you never know when I'm going to be awake and near a computer. What country are you in?
Another group I'm in uses google doc for maps and it works fine, though yet another group i'm in doesn't bother with maps at all and we do ok there too. It really depends on your players and what they prefer and how much visualization they need. I'm fine with whatever.

Geoffrey Whittaker |

I am based on the East Coast, but of Australia, not America ;-)
As to maps, I have no strong preference. Like Lysa, I have been in, and still am in, games that do not use maps, and games that do use maps. The former tend to adopt a little more of a 'free-form' approach to positioning in combat, but that is the only real difference :-)

Brennor Styvolich |

** spoiler omitted **
Darn fingers never typing what I want them too, Styvolich is the correct way.
Faith conflict-wise I think it'll be fine, Erastil isn't the most 'Fire and Damnation' sort of deity. Brennor sees the role that all gods play and even if one doesn't openly worship Erastil by tilling the field and helping their community they do so in action if not in words
Oh and Equipment is done.
And I'm in Montreal myself, very worldly game! Though my real life game is like that here, the group is one Canadian, one American, on Haitian, two Filipinos, and an Italian. We're like the UN!

Lysa Arianna |

We'll just have to nickname our game "Kingmaker International".
Too bad there's no voice chat on these forums to hear everyone's accents.
And I also think we'll be fine with faith conflicts. None of our deities so far are opposing each other and Lysa's is Shelyn and who doesn't love her? :)

Hathin De'Lark |

And I also think we'll be fine with faith conflicts. None of our deities so far are opposing each other and Lysa's is Shelyn and who doesn't love her? :)
I just checked in Jade Regent #2 (which has the Shelyn write-up) and wow, you are completely right. Shelyn even gets on well with Zon-Kuthon, Rovagug and Lamashtu!

Tudan Davken |

I'm in Oregon at GMT-8 myself, but I tend to stay up late, and starting tomorrow I'll be able to post during my breaks at work. (A co-worker told me the wrong password, and the network was down much of the day anyway; it just wasn't meant to be.)

Tudan Davken |

Raven smiles warmly at Hathin, with a twinkle in his eyes.
*cough*
And I apologize again, but I was once employed as a proofreader without any training whatsoever, because discrepancies just jump out at me. I can't help it. Sorry!

Geoffrey Whittaker |

I actually have no idea what you are trying to get at here, so I will simply file it under 'deeply suspicious' :-/
"Can't we all just get along?"
EDIT: Ah, your edit means that that makes more sense. I realise the expression normally refers to 'twinkle in his eye', but I made the deliberate choice to reference both eyes :-)

Tudan Davken |

What Hathin said. ;)
I think it'll be an interesting group dynamic, Erastil might be a favorite deity.
As for Edmond, he'll pay respect to the popular faith but his personal faith is closest to that of Iomedae.
Any thoughts?
After giving it some thought, I agree that it'll be interesting -- because Erastil has a plurality, but not a majority. Brennor, Geoffrey and you make at most 2.5 out of 6. Then, Hathin has the Green Faith, Lysa has Shelyn, if anything you favor Iomedae, and Tudan worships Life in the abstract (even abstracter than the Green Faith). I can't remember the last time I saw a party so close in philosophies, but sometimes the fiercest arguments are between brothers, so I wouldn't take it for granted.

Hathin De'Lark |

Just spent some time browsing through our relative profiles and had a few observations:
No-one has any ranks in Bluff or Intimidate; only Brennor has any in Diplomacy (for a nice +8 bonus though)
We have Knowledge gaps in Dungeoneering, History, Nobility and strangely enough Religion; though Nature and Geography are well covered so at least we shouldn't get lost
Only one of us is good at Riding (Edmond) and only Gregory can Stealth well
Four of us have Survival ranks - which means that if we travel at half speed, we should not need to use up any rations
Gregory and Hathin are the two Perceptive group members, while Tudan has darkvision. If we split into three watches I'd suggest Tudan holds down the middle watch, while Gregory and I split up between 1st and 3rd.
Collective Languages are: Common, Elven, Hallit, Skald, Sylvan, Giant, Celestial, Halfling, Draconic. Elven is understood by four of us (excluding Brennor and Tudan) and Sylvan by three (Edmond, Geoffrey, Lysa) - just in case we need a neutral language that the opposition doesn't know.
Melee vs Ranged split is interesting as our Paladin is a bow-wielder.

Lysa Arianna |

Regarding skill and language gaps: Lysa still needs to pick up too more languages, I've just been slow trying to figure out what else to pick.
Lysa has intimidate in class, she just doesn't have any ranks in it yet. I figured she'd learn to be intimidating along the way since she is a bit insecure and inexperienced to start out with it in mind.

Hathin De'Lark |

Definitely - Hathin will be looking at rounding out his skillset as well. And given his background should probably look at at least learning Sylvan :)
1st level is always a difficult fit with so many choices and so few skill points.

Hathin De'Lark |

Heh - we should be cool in the wide open spaces for you to plink away.
When we need to delve into closer environs Hathin has a set of hide armor, a shield and shilleagh :) - so we can still have three in the front line (Edmond, Geoffrey and myself). Therefore even when we get in close you can still plink away.
