Ok. Is that gonna be the way for most battles, or do the majority have maps? What size is the jelly, and how many squares are there adjacent to it that aren't in the sewage?
Kirzon |
Fortitude vs stench: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 Kirzon is nauseated by the smell of this jelly creature. But that doesn't stop him from entering the fray.
"Heat? I've got all the heat I need right here." Kirzon takes a step into the sewage and attacks ferociously at the slime creature.
Can Kirzon 5-foot step into the sewage? If so, he should be adjacent, and will dare a secondary bite attack against this slime. Nobody said he's smart.
Greatsword Attack: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 - 2 = 24; damage: 2d6 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 - 2 = 9
Crit?: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 - 2 = 7; crit damage: 2d6 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 - 2 = 6
Bite Attack: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (9) - 2 = 7; Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Fortitude vs. filth fever: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 - 2 = 10 And he has it! What is filth fever?
Captain Johnson |
Not sure we'd know what it is in game, but ooc: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/afflictions/diseases/filth-fever
R!Kktik |
R!Kktik is overcome by the stench of the ooze and juggles a flask in one hand, trying to judge the distance. Is it big enough that R!Kktik could drop a splash weapon onto it without damaging Kirzon, Johnson, or Shelai?
DC 19 Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
John Stout |
Theoretically, because the ooze is large, you could.
Zrair, most encounters have battlemaps. At the moment, there are no adjacent squares that are not in sewage.
Filth fever onset: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Two days shall pass before you suffer the full effects of filth fever. It can be removed through conventional means or two consecutive saves shall get rid of it too.
Effluvium jelly: 13/46
R!Kktik |
The ratfolk swallows bile and hurls a flask at the nauseating ooze, his experienced eye and the creature's size allowing him to hit it while avoiding his allies with the splash.
Alchemist's fire, ranged touch attack, incl. PBS and sickened: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 2 = 23
Base damage, incl. PBS: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7
John Stout |
The fire burns the jelly, causing a serious amount of damage.
Effluvium jelly: 3/46
Shelai Attack (greatsword): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Shelai Damage (greatsword): 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5) + 6 = 12
Fortitude Save 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Fortitude Save 2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Fortitude Save 3: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Not only does Shelai slay the effluvium jelly, she also manages to completely avoid any disease.
Onwards, ho!
Kirzon |
Those were some nice rolls! Glad they were for our team. :P
Kirzon steps out of the mucky water and cleans off the filth from his armor and sword as best he can. "Disgusting creatures, but easily slain."
"I'll take point from here. My eyes are better suited to these sewers."
Kirzon will take the lead position from Shelai going forward. Unless there's loot or something, I'm ready to move on.
Captain Johnson |
"You took a dip in that filthy water, can anyone apply a pultice to draw out any feaver that might result?"
Might be worth a heal check here, to prevent more stat damage...
Zrair |
Got the one antiplauge, if you want it Kirzon.
The alchemist stands up straight, having recovered from the wave of nausea brought on by the ooze's aura of stench.
"I have no desire to examine this foe," Zrair shakes his head. He consults the map again, but can make no more sense of it than before.
Kirzon |
Can save the antiplague for later if needed. If I understand the disease rules (which are new to me), I think with the heal check and a Remove Sickness scroll or spell will be good enough to give me a +8 to the next save which comes in two days, so I should make that. Then I need to make one more save and I'll be cured without any ill effect. Does that seem right?
Captain Johnson |
"Kirzon has got himself presentable again, so yes lets get a move on. But careful like, no telling what else is down here..."
Zrair |
"Couldn't have said it better," Zrair gripes.
Kirzon and Shelai swap positions this time?
Zrair |
Zrair squeezes in between Johnson and R!Kktik.
"Just like home, baldtail?" he nods facetiously to his fellow alchemist.
Captain Johnson |
Its been nearly two weeks now since our GM last posted. He's also AWOL in another game I'm playing in where we're used to him vanishing for a few days, but not this long. Judging by his posting history this isn't the first time where "life threw a curve ball", so I guess this probably over. Shame since the concept seemed pretty cool!
R!Kktik |
I was going to give him two weeks before I posted what the Captain did. It was fun while it lasted, and maybe I'll see you all around the boards. (Zrair, we'll have to find a longer-lived campaign to do the cat-and-rat schtick with. Baldtail...gotta remember that one.)
Zrair |
Darn. We didn't even get to see which of Zrair and R!K would die first. I hate to throw away what was shaping up to be a fun party dynamic, but I guess there's nothing for it. Ya'll take it easy.
