Rain manages to get you through the rocks and reefs, narrowly in some parts, almost as if she was possessed of ability beyond the ken of mortals in her sailing prowess. Breaking free of the rocks you make the turn south and race towards the rim of the Eye which is about a mile off through the storm you would guess.
As you head south a vicious lightning storm begins to coalesce around you, striking the water with frightening speed. A massive bolt strikes the mainmast causing massive damage to it.
10d8 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 3, 1, 8, 6, 8, 6, 3) = 49 damage to the sails and anyone on the Main mast.
After the lightning strike, a corona of baleful green energy collects near the strike, swirling with malevolence.

Seijiro |

does SEijiro get a reflex save vs that damage?

Horatio Flynn |

You can't see Harrigan's ship anywhere. Total concealment due to wind, rain, and sea beyond 30' from the ship.
Horatio rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Hmm... It seems all this wind that is blowing is making it really hard to see things...
As you head south a vicious lightning storm begins to coalesce around you, striking the water with frightening speed. A massive bolt strikes the mainmast causing massive damage to it.
Horatio looks aloft from his position near the guns to where Jiro had tied himself to the Crow's Nest as he sees the bolt slam into the Main Mast...
"Ahoy! Jiro-san - are you okay?" he calls out.
If Jiro needs help Horatio will do what he can to Heal him...

Wow, look at that storm! If I didn't know better, I'd think it was something more than just lighting... Luckily, I do know better, though - Clearly it's just a really bad bit of weather - I'm sure we'll get along... dare I say... swimmingly...?

"The Blue Rajah" |

He turns to Rajah, Amen-set and gives a quick glance toward Dhaavan, too.
"Be ready for anything, I can't believe that sod is going to let us keep the lead unmolested," he says with a fierce glow in his eyes.
Nodding, he keeps an eye out for said ship as best he can through the storm.
As the lightning strikes the ship, Rajah's eyes go wide. "Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. How does the Lookout fare! And what in the name of the Dawnflower is that green... 'mist' or whatever the devil it is?!" He then cuts his eyes back out to sea a moment, checking to see if he can catch sight of the competition and if they're any closer before looking back to the sails and the Crow's Nest. "Let me know if assistance is needed and I shall do what I can to help!" he yells through the storm to anyone who can hear.

Horatio Flynn |

As the lightning strikes the ship, Rajah's eyes go wide. "Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. How does the Lookout fare?"
Horatio's eyes flick to Rajah, then back to Jiro above -
"Hell if I know, but the storm's getting fierce..." he says, hoping that Jiro is not injured and wondering how anyone could manage to climb up to the Crow's Nest in the rain and wind if they cannot even walk across the deck without stumbling.
His mind suddenly tacks back to the girl he had aided who's below and he wonders how she is fairing as the ship rides up and down the waves.
"And what in the name of the Dawnflower is that green... 'mist' or whatever the devil it is?!"
Horatio turns and watches the waves and shrugs.
"Who knows - but unless I miss my guess, I'm betting it's just more of these damn storms... The Eye's known for this sort of weather," he says, completely confident in his earlier hunch about the lightning storm.

Amen-set Neitaker |

"Let me know if assistance is needed and I shall do what I can to help!" he yells through the storm to anyone who can hear.
Amen-set turns back and looks at Rajah.
"Assuredly thy assistance may be called on if it is our Fate; yet know that I shall aid thee as well, if I may," she responds with a loud and confident voice.
Horatio turns his gaze from the sea to look at her, then addresses Rajah as well even as he watches her out of the corner of his eye -
"Yes - I'm sure we'll all do what we can to aid each other, in a pinch," he says as he stares at her for a bit more, then shakes his head and turns his gaze aloft to see how Jiro is doing.

Variel barely has time to congratulate Rain on her expert sailing when the bolt of lightning strikes the mast and Jiro. At first it seemed the worst was over and all that was needed was some mending of the sails and have Jiro climb down and get some healing from Rajah, Adular, Amen or Horatio. That is until the lightning bolt seemed to stop and hover over the ship.

Rain Taneththir |

Watching the lightning bolt strike the mainmast and sear through a good portion of it, Rain gritted her teeth. It was one thing after another in this race. "Jiro?" she called through their message link. "How hurt are you?"
To the riggers and any of the crew/officers skilled with mending sails she shouted out an order, "I need someone repairing the mainsail now!"
Upon Variel's warning of the large lightning elemental, she looked across to Dhaavan, "Summon forth your own monsters to fight the one forming as we speak! I do not know how fast I can push the ship with her sail ruined as it is."
Rain tried to keep the ship steady and moving as fast as possible with the rent/ruined sail.

Recognizing the glow from his studies Variel shouts above the wind. Prepare to attack. A lightning elemental is forming, and its a big one.
Horatio peers at the storm.
"A lightning elemental? On bloody hell..." he growls as his fist pounds the gunwale, realizing only now his hunch about the flashing light was completely wrong and it was something far more insidious.
Upon Variel's warning of the large lightning elemental, she looked across to Dhaavan, "Summon forth your own monsters to fight the one forming as we speak! I do not know how fast I can push the ship with her sail ruined as it is."
Horatio's eyes flick to Dhaavan, too, then he turns and looks at Amen-set.
"If you have to summon something to take care of things - do it. Also, keep your eyes on Jiro-san - if he's alright, good! If he needs healing, heal him. Meantime, don't get yourself killed," he adds as she bows her head in salute to him.
Jiro - I still don't know if you can get a Reflex Save while you are tied in the Crow's Nest - and even if you do, I don't know how that will turn out. Depending on when the GM tells us we'll do what we can to heal you, no worries.
"I need someone repairing the mainsail now!"
Rain's words remind Horatio that they're not out of this yet...
He looks up at the mainsail and frowns.
"Damnation," he growls as he sees the extent of the damage...
Taking the magical crafting tool from Amen-set's outstretched hand, he takes does what he can to move up into the rigging to fix the damage.
Horatio is near the Main Mast, but he was standing by the side of the ship to watch for threats near the rigging. That said, I'm assuming that using a 5 Foot step to get to the rigging by the gunwale which leads to the mast above shouldn't require an Acrobatics Roll - but if it does, please let me know... Meantime, I'm sure it will require a Climb Check to get up so here that is (not sure how many checks I'll need as I don't know how high the damage is; anyway - let me know if I need more Climb Checks and I'll toss them up, too)...

It's cool - Amen-set can heal at Range, so worst case scenario she'll take care of you with that. Meantime, if the GM says you're cool, or if you have to make a Save and you succeed, then she'll probably use either Summon Monster or possibly something augment the siege guns.

Everyone casting spells I need a concentration check DC of 10+spell level due to the wind, rain, and vigorous motion of the ship.
The elemental is currently 40' up the main mast, hovering and seemingly unaffected by the swirling winds.
Dhaavan, where did you want to place the hell hounds? "I cannot answer that, Jiro. Mayhap the hooded new pilot of the Wormwood is responsible for calling forth such monsters. Do what you can to aid Variel in this fight. I must concentrate on keeping the ship steady as Flynn mends the mast and main sail." It was proving increasingly more difficult to keep the Lady true to course with the damage to the mast and sail, high winds and now the lightning elemental.
Immortal, do you require any other checks apart from Prof Sail at this time from Rain? I rolled the check in my last post to keep the ship steady even with the ruined mast and sail.

Free Action to Check on Rajah -
"Oye - you still breathing?" he calls out, not sure if Rajah is unconscious or just knocked flat...
His eyes flick aft at the others for a moment and then he turns back to face the creature.
Okay… First; as a Free Action Horatio Rages and Activates Archeologists Luck; he also is adding in the effect of the Prayer Spell and Cat’s Grace (already cast). Meantime, I’ll be tweaking the stuff for what I’m about to do as necessary…
He’s using Quick Draw to draw his Enchanted Revolver as well as his MW Pistol and firing two shots at the same time with Two Weapon Fighting, then he’s dropping his MW Pistol and using his Second Attack for the Round to fire another shot with his Magical Revolver – this includes all the bonuses from the Feats and stuff…
Revolver on Elemental –
1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 - 2 = 34
IF it hits –
1d8 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 6 = 12
Plus 1d6 Fire Damage
1d6 ⇒ 2
MW on Elemental –
1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 - 2 = 15
IF it hits –
1d8 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 + 2 + 6 = 14
Second Attack on Elemental –
1d20 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 = 26
IF it hits –
1d8 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 6 = 16
Plus 1d6 Fire Damage
1d6 ⇒ 4
EDIT: Interesting…
So it looks like the 20 may convert and the natural 1 probably failed, even though it hits a "Touch Attack" of 15...
Roll for Revolver to convert:
1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 - 2 = 25
EDIT: As the Firearms are against Touch AC then I'm hoping it converted, but if it did that did a total of 52 Damage; if the second shot with the Revolver hits it does an additional 20 Damage.
GM - I'm not sure what will happen with the MW pistol gets the natural 1 - I guess that’s up to you… If it does somehow manage to hit, too, it does an additional 14 Damage (though it may not hit, I suppose we shall see). Meantime, depending on how you rule via the MW Pistol will probably effect what Amen-set will likely do, too...

EDIT: Here's hoping that doesn't fail...

Ok so here is how this will go. Typically Elementals are immune to crits but I am going to allow crit cards only but not the extra damage to things immune to crits, essentially they won't take extra damage but will potentially take status effects.
Horatio's first shot strikes through the wind and rain against all odds and manages to tag the creature, the force of the blow knocking the elemental back and away from Rajah. Crit Card...Knockback target is pushed 1d6 ⇒ 3 squares away

As her companions worked together against the formidable lightning elemental, Rain concentrated on moving the ship, attempting to thwart the precision of its attacks and endeavours with cleverly made movements with the ship. The rolling of the ship could prove hard for the crew, but the repeated impact of the hull slamming into the troughs between the waves was worse.
The Elven pilot scanned the ocean before and around her, keeping an eye on anything they might crash into. Being surrounded by large, dark, thunder clouds did not help sight, but with her low-light vision she attempted to do her best. She also employed her honed instincts and long experience to guide them through this treacherous section of the course; made worse by the attacking elemental.
Perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21
Survival: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (19) + 18 = 37
She kept the ship moving forward, using the Wheel to steer the Lady rather than be pushed wildly by wind and wave alike. She deliberately kept the bow pointing into the waves to plow through them safely, in hopes of waylaying the enlarged waves from striking the side of the vessel and rolling her over. Sinking was not an option, if she could help it.
The first of her manoeuvres proved easy and clean and she was satisfied, but as she progressed and kept the ship's swift speed, she found the strong, hurricane winds and waves trickier to outwit although not entirely impossible to overcome. The muscles in her arms and body began to ache with her pure determination as she turned the Wheel and kept her wings furled tight about her body; the rope securing her in place rubbing roughly against her. She called commands to those of the crew heroically manning the sails. She was glad that Neko was below deck, as safe as she could be.

Awesome Rain!!!
Rain's incredible piloting sends you darting towards the eye's edge. What would have been minutes of travel to reach she has turned into seconds as you see snatches of daylight through the wind and rain.
You originally had 8 rounds before reaching the edge of the eye but Rain has shaved that down to 2 rounds with her awesome piloting.

Amen-set Neitaker |

I’m just going to toss up Amen-set at this point; I really don’t want to have to bot people that haven’t asked me to, so I'll give them a bit more and then we’ll see what happens…
Amen-set sees that the creature is off of Rajah and she calls out to him as a Free Action –

Given the fact that the enemy is off the ship she will us her Perception Check to see if she can locate it –
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29
Right, so first, here's hoping the Perception Check is good enough to see the creature (it's roughly 25 feet from her, so I'm not sure if that counts as past the cut-off, or if it's just on the line, but anyway, the check is up). Assuming she is able to see the enemy, and given the fact is she’s not as good a shot as Horatio by far; however, GM – she does have Point Blank Shot, she also has the Prayer Spell and the other special boon she has you gave her… However, at this point uses as an Immediate Action to activate Hawkeye and then raises the musket and fires…

Not sure how much damage that will be, but here's hoping that it's at least 52...

After she fires the musket she watches the attack with grim satisfaction. Then she turns to Horatio, gives him a wicked smile and offers him a hearty "Thumbs-Up"...

Yep. A natural 20 on a crit confirm is an automatic crit. Too bad this thing doesn't take crit damage or that would just be awesome.

Amen-set sees that the creature is off of Rajah and she calls out to him as a Free Action –
”On thy feet sailor, on thy feet! Death is before thee…” and then her eyes narrow at the crackling enemy.

Amen-set watches Rajah move to the cannon and she turns her gaze to the others who are aft of their position. The ship would move forward in the storm, but the enemy was stunned off the starboard bow - when it had regained its wits it would surely advance to attack, but as the ship would have moved far forward then it would be likely it would assail them in the stern of their vessel, and this may be dangerous to the Pilot-Major who stood at the helm...
"This wretch is winded from the damage - Come! Let us slay it swiftly, then," she calls to the others.

DHaavan shrugs, considering his summons will be less than effective against the creature, and instead draws upon his Hellish ancestry to evoke pure fire and emolate the creature.
Amen-set sees the explosion of fire crash into the enemy and she lets out a cry of joy at the damage that is almost feral in her enthusiasm for Dhaavan's assault on their enemy.
"By fire and flame, thy hit it well!" she calls, her voice slicing through the storm like a knife, her energy inspired further by the harmony of Jiro's performance.
"May our enemies taste naught but ash and soot, even as they stumble forward into the small, dark place of death which has been prepared for them..." she adds, pausing a moment to incline her eyes to the heavens above even as she pounds the gunwale with excitement.
Well done with the fireball, Dhaavan! And Jiro, thanks for the buffs via your performance! Meantime, GM - I guess it's now your move :)

DM Immortal |

The elemental takes the fireball and shoots away up into the thick of the hurricane, a huge thunderclap shakes the ship as that happens. A moment later, Rain pulls the Dread Lady hard to port and you breach the wall of the storm. The brightness of day near blinds you despite the face that it is still overcast this close to the hurricane. The sea immediately begins to calm, although it remains quite rough and choppy it is nothing compared to what you endured in the Eye.
You breathe a sigh of relief for a moment before you spot two things. The first is that you can see the Master of Gales Xebec about half a mile to your west, apparently cruising and observing the race finish in person. For a brief moment you think that you may be in the lead but the Wormwood breaks the Eye wall 100 yards to your east. You are neck and neck with only the Wormwood to beat!

Rain scanned the ocean/surrounds and looked for the best way forward. She could not allow the Wormwood to win after all they had endured over the course of the regatta. It wasn't over yet and she silently wondered how the Wormwood had gained so much ground. They weren't beset by monsters.
Determined, she cast her mind to the task and steered the Lady forward, along the best route/path, hoping to show the Master of Gales they deserved to win the regatta.

Enlarged Variel returns to his wife to be's side as she coaxes all she can from the Lady. Following her commands he keeps his eyes peeled and aids her as best he can.
Automake aid check for prof sailor.
Calling out to the crew as he moves Well done all thus far. We have mastered 'The Eye' and have our goal in sight. We gave faced Sea Serpents, Dragon Turtles, Lightning Elementals, hurricane winds. All that is left is open water and that dog Harrigan. Show him who the real masters of this regatta are and finish first!

Horatio Flynn |

Horatio turns a glance at Variel, knowing that both Rain and the wheel are now closest to the storm, and the Lightning Elemental.
"Oye, Captain-General, do you see any threats approaching from the storm behind us?" he calls, knowing that if the Lightning Elemental has survived it may try one last ditch attempt on the rear of the ship as they were racing from the storm.
Then he sees that Rajah is manning the cannon even as Amen-set is reloading the musket.
"We've a pact not to fight that ship yonder," he says with a nod at The Wormwood "but her captain may not be as honorable as we are," he adds with a tight voice as he loads his own pistols.
"If she starts something with us, then we've a right to end it with her, but until that time stay frosty... We're not out of this yet," he adds.
Pausing a moment he calls to Adular -
"Padre, how's the lass doing below?"
GM - I'm just trying to make sure the officer from that ship we picked up earlier is okay given the craziness of the storm and her medical condition. Any news on that front?
