Bofus Beerswizzler |
Wow, why can't I roll like that lately???
Bofus glances up, trying to determine whether their resident Wyrmlord (or lady) has an unholy symbol about her...
Wyrmlord Ulwai Stormcaller |
"Sadly, my dear Bofus, that is going to require nothing less than the High Wyrmlord's own holy symbol. Unless of course, you are very good at disabling traps. However, I can tell you that the High Wyrmlord does not trust very many people. He certainly is not going to make it easy for a thief such as yourself."
Bofus Beerswizzler |
Bofus produces the Staff of Life, ready to use it on himself and Tomkin...unless other healing us forthcoming...
"Unless I'm very good at disarming traps?!?!" Good googly-moogley, don't you know to whom you're speaking?!?!
He touches himself with the staff, giving a low "whoop" at the healing power, then directs everyone out of the room. That way, he's the only one who fries if something goes wrong...
Bofus Beerswizzler |
Once everyone is out, he starts with the chest on the left most side, taking his time with sure confidence
Disable device Take 10 for 34, to see if I can do it...
DM Harpwizard |
Bofus works very carefully and precisely. In a short amount of time, he has disabled and unlocked all of the chests in the room. I am certain the halfling has a huge grin on his face right now as she shows his comrades this mighty treasure horde.
• The white chest contains 12,000 silver pieces, 4,500 gold pieces, and 360 platinum pieces.
• The black chest contains several bags of gemstones. Six of the bags contain fairly low-quality gemstones, with each bags contents worth 100 gp. The seventh bag contains somewhat higher-quality gems, worth 500 gp in all.
• The green chest contains a large amount of personal jewelry ad small works of art stolen from various victims and rival tribes over the past several years. There are twenty art objects in this chest, each of which is worth 200 gp.
• The red chest contains a small bag of black pearls (seven in all, each worth 500 gp), a tiny mithral box (itself worth 500 gp) containing three 1,000 gp emerals and a 5,000 gp diamond, and several potions: 6 potions of bull's strength, 14 potions of cure moderate wounds, 5 potions of lesser restoration, and 4 potions of shield of faith (+3).
• The blue chest contains several magic items Azarr Kul or his minions must have collected as trophies from various minions that either haven't been identified or haven't been assigned to members of the horde. This includes a +1 adamantine dwarven waraxe, a python rod, a ring of chameleon power, a rust bag of tricks, a minor circlet of blasting, a headband of alluring charisma +4, and a scabbard of keen edges.
Bofus Beerswizzler |
Ha! Nice haul! I think this scabbard would be most useful...any objections?.
Butterfly sting feat means when I get a crit, someone else actually makes it
and healing looks a bit better now too!
Tomkin the Doughty |
Tom gets frustrated at the delay.

"Tirion, headband fits you best-- take this rod of snakey goodness, you can use it when bordered with magic spells. Someone with a blade can take the scabbard, if not, I'll see if my glaive can benefit. Bofus, this ring is great for you. I'll take the rust bag--I'd like to find some helpers. All the fighters can grab these potions that make a shield of the faithful. We came to get the big dragon--let's do it."
Tom produces the massive diamond for the Wyrmlord. "If I get his set in a nice ring, would you accept a promise ring from me? I think you may be the one to accept the life of a crusader's wife or write my epitath."
Wyrmlord Ulwai Stormcaller |

The bardic wyrmlord blushes red as her eyes grow wide at the sight of the diamond. "My dear Tomkin," Ulwai replies, "I had no idea that you felt this way about me! You are the sweetest, kindest knight I have ever met! Now before you commit your life to me, are you sure that you know what you are getting into? I mean, have you considered the past that I bring with me into my every day life?!"

Bofus checks for traps on both doors and finds none. He does not hear anything at either door.
Upon opening the north door, he enters an empty room shaped like an elongated octagon. The ceiling arches to a dome twenty five feet above. The only thing of note in the chamber is a complex circular diagram ten feet in diameter inscribed in the floor in the center of the room. The circle seems to be made of an inlay of alchemical silver and cold iron.
Tomkin the Doughty |
Tom laughs at the Wyrmlord's concerns: "You would have a paladin to make sure you followed the straight and narrow. One would say a built in moral compass. That pretty much invalidates your past, but makes your present and future somewhat constrained. I would think you have the harder compromise to make. But then, the question was posed to you."
Tom replies to the Halfling: "Can we make it not work?? I don't like it being active."

Bofus shakes his head and rolls his eyes. Tomkin, friend...is this *really* the time and place for this discussion?!?! How about we wait until we're counting our coin over a nice pint?
Wyrmlord Ulwai Stormcaller |
"My dear Tomkin, I can see you leading me along that path of goodness and supporting me in my efforts to write my opera. However, you should know that the High Wyrmlord, Azarr Kul will not be pleased to hear that you have feelings for me. I am not sure that he will give you his permission to marry me. In fact, I suspect he will rather see you dead. If you can protect me from the tyrant, I will consider your offer."

Bofus still doesn't trust her...

Tirion Jörðhár |
Tirion looks to the others.
We could try to break the circle. It does not mean that someone could not repair it. But at least for the present it should render the summoning inoperable.
Tirion pauses looking at the circle.
We could simply attempt to destroy it physically, and probably have weapons that could do it. Or, I could attempt to dissolve parts with acid. That would use some of my magic for the day though.
He turns to the group.
Any thoughts?
DM Harpwizard |
Bofus checks the south door for traps, but does not find any.
Red opens the door into an exquisitely appointed chamber that is obviously the personal retreat of someone important. The floor is thickly carpeted, while the walls are adorned with colorful tapestries depicting a five-headed dragon rising triumphantly from the ashes of a burning city in one scene and looming over the bloodied and broken body of a platinum scaled dragon in another. A canopied four-poster bed sits to the southeast, and to the southwest is a large mound of cushions and furs, next to which stands a bejeweled water pipe crafted to look like a five-headed dragon, it appears that up to five people can partake of the pipe using the long flexible dragon-shaped pipes extending from the body.
Erinyes |
Two angelic looking servants with black stained wings turn toward the door as it opens.
"Well, it looks like we have company, Luchia!"
"I think they need a proper greeting, Franchesca." The other replies.
"Speak up now and declare yourself, mortal, or you will die!" The beautiful servant known as Franchesca declares as she reaches for a longsword. The one known as Luchia, who is in the four poster bed reaches for a composite longbow.

ROUND 1
Since Mister Red opened the door, Bofus takes advantage of his not being in plain sight. He mentally activates his new ring's camouflage power, and dissolves from view. He then casts Keen Edge from his new scabbard, then sneaks into the room, rapier drawn, for some stanbity goodness
