I am still confused as to where we are going. I thought that Red and Thordak were flying on Lulu while Bofus and I were going to use fly spells to get us all out to the giants.

My actions will be very different if we are going to fight our way through a herd of bladebearers versus flying behind them to take out the giants.

With the hobgoblins and giants spread out that wide, my spells are pretty ineffective, at most I can only catch 1-3 hobgoblins. On the other hand, the Brindol guards, and Thordak, should be pummeling the giants with arrows from this distance.

The plan changed, Mantooth charged up the guts and into melee so that kinda scotched the old plan - we are now committed to the melee. Start working on a new plan :)

I am averse to leaving party members stranded out the front of a combat and leaving them out there solo - especially when they outrun the rest of the army they are supposed to be attached to - it was a bit Leeroy Jenkins but hey, I'm still inside the wall. We can always pick up and move.

Sorry to act like a cavalier, guys. I was not reading the plan carefully enough. Here are some revised actions.

Round 2

Mantooth with withdraw back inside the wall and let the Brindol guards fire their ranged weapons at any hobgoblins entering behind him.

"Watch out, men, here come the hobgoblins!"

Turning to Thordak, he says, "Wait for me, Dwarf! Do you have any room on that hippogriff for a guest such as myself? We need to get to those giants and fast!"

If Mantooth and Thordak are riding Lulu, then I will cast another Fly on Red instead of Haste. Burning through my level 3 spells, but I can always use a level 4 slot if I need more Haste.

Ok folks, so you are flying across to meet the giants. Please let me know where you wish to land. Do you wish to fly directly above the hobgoblins or take a longer but safer way around them? I have fly spell giving a move of 60 feet and Lulu can reach speeds up to 100.

We should be able to double move, not sure about flying charges and whether the trees would hinder a charge.

Round 1
Red flies to G/-17, if a charge is allowed, then charge to G/-16 and attack the hill giant.
Bofus flies to D/-18 to get flanking on the giant. Once again not sure if a charge is allowed while flying, and whether the trees are tall enough to hinder a charge.

Lulu/Thordak & Mantooth - fly behind the giant and attack from F/-19.

Tirion will remain behind the wall at present, but high enough to see the others. Once I can see them, I will cast Haste using the Rod of Reach. This should get Mantooth, Thordak, Red, Bofus and Lulu in its area of effect. The Rod of Reach should extend the range to 150', well more than needed.

I would prefer hitting one of the end giants, but with our movement, we can all reach this one in a single round, and possibly with charges. Also, this way, you are all close together to get within the radius of my haste spell.

• Red flies up over the wall to G-17 and charges the giant. (I see no reason you cannot charge with a fly spell. You may attack.)
• Poppy flies up and accompanies red.
• Thordak mounts Lulu and leads his hippogriff over the wall to land behind the giants.
• Tirion casts haste on his companions with his Rod of Reach.

Bofus flies to the opposite side of the giant behind him, deftly dodging his clumsy blow (and too high for the hobgoblin to even try to hit), and waits for Mantooth to close so he can stab the Giant with alacrity.

• Bofus flies to the opposite side of the giant (A19). He manages to avoid being attacked by the massive creature, but is unable to land an attack on it.
• Mantooth moves to D-19 and attacks the BC giant in a flanked position with Bofus. He delivers a massive amount of damage with a series of deadly attacks.
• Red slices up the hobgoblin like he was serving cheese!
• Poppy moves to F-17.
• Thordak moves to I19 and takes down a bladebearer hobgoblin. (+1 Haste has been added).
• Tirion flies to J-16 and casts Enlarge on Red.
• Giants continue to throw rocks at the wall and two continue their attack against the heroes.

I've done this in my fencing days, particularly when point control is off and I miss for no apparent reason
