Right then, its settled. Leiaf looks around at his siblings' quiet and impassive faces.
Aundrak has graciously volunteered to stay behind and command the army. The rest of us will depart immediately for the hidden cache, and he will follow 10 days later. We'll rendezvous here, he marks a point on his dirt scratch map at a tunnel crossroads roughly a days travel from the gnome village.
The siblings move off to gather their gear and depart for the cache within the hour, trusting Aundrak to handle arrangements with Y'dress.

With your course plotted, the six of you head off into the underdark. After a half day travel you come to the end of the Dark Road. After opening the magnificently engineered secret door, you go out into the underdark proper. location 0413
After taking a short rest you continue on your journey. About midday you come to a small cavern where a carrion stench slowly wafts your way.
Location: 0414.
Everyone make perception checks DC 12.
I'm going to have everyone proceed in posting order. Those who got the perception check can take a single move or standard action for the surprise round. You can put your surprise round action (if you have one) and your first round actions in one post if you like. LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!
Liante
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Liante summons dancing lights above the sneaking and strange looking drow' heads and points.
DM Gray
tunnel is 20' wide and 20' tall at its highest. there is some stalagtites that the creatures were using to hide behind. they are 30' down the tunnel.
Quin fires a bolt of webbing at one of the creatures but it is too fast as it dodges the bolt. Vrek outlines the other in faerie fire making it noticeable to the rest of the party. Liante lightens up the area drawing attention to the other creature.
DM rolls:
Status:
Creature 1: faerie fire
Creature 2: Dancing Lights around it.
Quin: (used web bolt spell)
Vrek: (used faerie fire)
Liante: (used dancing lights)

Waiting on Leiaf & Shelquet
Leiafosaith the Runt
Sorry looks like my post from last night vanished
Leiaf starts in surprise at the two shambling things and reflexively fires an acid dart at the closest.
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
acid dart, ranged touch: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Shelquet
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Shelquet does not notice the strange creatures until one of her siblings until the glow of her siblings Fairy Fire engulfs them. Well played beasts, well played. You will be fine specimens indeed...
She draws her dagger but keeps her hand ready to reach for some of her bottled blood if need be. If her siblings weapons don't work, she'll douse them in flames.
DM Gray
Leiaf shoots a ray of acid at the creature surrounded by faerie fire and it eats a whole in the creatures chests. Undeterred, the creatures cry out with a raspy screech before charging. The one surrounded by faerie fire charges and bites down on Leaif's shoulder causes immense pain. 5 damage, make 2 fort saves The other one springs onto Argent but only sinks its teeth in a little before Argent shrugs him off. 3 damage, make 2 fort saves.
DM rolls

Leiafosaith the Runt
Fort Save 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Fort Save 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Assuming he's standing after the fort saves...
Leiaf lets out a panicked shriek Get it off! Get it off! and scrambles away from the thing waving his hands franticly.
5' step backwards. Cast flare (DC15). Draw spear.
Argent Drowson
Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Likewise on the saves...
Argent grunts in pain and retaliates, activating his arcane reserves of energy, his sword crackles slightly as magic hums through it.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Vrek
"Ugh," Vrek wrinkles his nose, "Honest combat. I hate honest combat."
Vrek's weak arms draw the string of his bow with shaky hands, and he fires at the one on Leiaf
to hit, -4 for firing into melee counted in: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Dmg if that hits: 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2
"That was terrible," He admits, "I should have opened with a song."
EDIT: *Facepalm* I forgot I was playing a bard. I'll start inspire courage next round when I can. Sorry
DM Gray
Liante fires an arrow at the creature attacking Leiaf but it goes wide bouncing off the cavern wall. Quin causes a burst of sickly grease to appear under the creature attacking Argent causing it to fall to the ground. didn't specify so I rolled randomly Leiaf steps back while drawing his spear and causes a burst of light to appear before the creature attacking him; however, it does not appear to have affected it. Argent brings his sword down hard on the creature before him. not sure where you are getting the +6 to damage. with a +1 weapon and wielding your sword with two hands it's only +5 Vrek fires his bow at the creature near Leiaf striking the beast. 2 damage. Leiaf stepped back and is no longer in melee
DM rolls:
Shelquet is up

Quin, nice flavour on the grease spell!
DM Gray. no immediate effect from the failed saves?
Leiaf cowers behind his spear, hoping the thing doesn't press the attack.
next round, readied action to stab one of the creatures if it approaches
readied spear: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
damage: 1d8 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7
DM Gray
Shelquet focuses and outlines the creature before Argent in faerie fire.
The creature before Argent lashes out at Argent and while he is able to dodge the creatures claws, its teeth sink into him again. 5 damage, make 2 fort saves The other creature stands up and moves out of the grease area in pursuit of Leiaf.

Vrek grins and begins a throaty song, "When I was just a lad, my mother said to me...
"My darling boy I don't hate you," and she cut into my flesh with glee.
Needles pierced into my skin, and my mother she advised with a grin
"There are many types of power lad, beyond strength and steel and size
the power of magic, the power of stealth, and the power of beautiful lies."
She taught me of treachery, the element of surprise, but she whispered as she wiped my blood from her hands, "The power wanted by the wise...
is the power of your enemies.
Make their strength your own.
Yoke their magic for your uses
twist their lore for your designs
Be cruel to them and make them think you're kind."
And with that last, she hurt me again, and kissed me on the brow
"See how I much I love you? Do the same to the world and be a drow."
So here I am, spreading mother's tale. Lessons learned by acid burns and knives that bled me pale. Oh mother taught me many things, like how to make folks scream, but the greatest thing she taught me was
Keep your eyes open while you dream."
Inspiring Courage, +1 to hit, and vs fear saves for allies
Shelquet
Now, let's see how well this creature holds up to the knife.
Shelquet maneuvers behind the creature attacking her brother Leiaf. She takes a small moment to remember her long nights dissecting captives, slaves and the cadavers of those who opposed Lady Satha. She thrusts her dagger towards the creature...
Attack and Damage Rolls: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 41d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 31d6 ⇒ 5
In her zeal to draw blood, she misses wildly. [i]Must reign in my desires, as it is proving to be inconvenient.
I do presume a 4 misses, yes?
Liante
Liante steps up to Leiaf and lays a hand on his shoulder. [b]"Be more careful little brother. She casts Infernal Healing on him. Fast Healing 1 for 10 rounds
DM Gray
Vrek: love the song.
Argent feels his limbs slowing and his thoughts become sluggish. you are slowed Shelquet maneuvers around the beast and tries to stab the creature; however, he seems to slip on some of Leiaf's blood. natural 1 always misses Liante steps behind Leiaf and invoking an infernal spell causes Leiaf's wounds to start to mend.

DM Gray
Quin fires a ray of cold energy at the creature but it goes wide. Argent swings his sword at the beast but gets his grip caught in his cloak turning the blade wide. One beast turns on Shelquet and bites on his forarm. 5 damage. make 2 fort saves The creature on Argent takes advantage of his weakened state and rakes him with his claws as he bites his shoulder. 6 damage

Round 3 everyone up!
Leiafosaith the Runt
Infernal healing restores 1 HP on Leiaf's turn. Current 7/11HP
Leiaf tries to maneuver over to Argent so that he can cast a spell without incurring an AoO, then cast cure light wounds
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
If that is not possible (I'm thinking only possible if someone else drops the creature near Leiaf and Shelquet before his turn), he stabs the creature he is flanking with Shelquet.
Spear: 1d20 - 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 + 2 + 1 = 7
Damage: 1d8 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Shelquet
Shelquet takes another swipe at the creature...
Shelquet's Attack and Damage Rolls: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 231d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 21d6 ⇒ 1
Obviously add a +2 ATK if still flanking, remove sneak attack die if not.
Whether the attack hits or not. Shelquet yells out to her siblings, "Everyone step back, let's see how they handle Hellfire!"
Will toss a bomb after 5 ft. stepping next turn if no one could be caught in the blast. Desperate times call for moderately-desperate measures!
DM Gray
Quin shoots another ray at the creature but it goes wide. Leiaf stabs at the creature but misses the beast. no way to move without AoO Shelquet feels her body slow as the creatures venom enters her blood stream. sorry about the gender confusion. hard to tell from the pictures. You are slowed Vrek and Liante fire their weapons with little effect. Shelquet stabs the beast landing a solid hit crit confirm1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 181d4 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1success! edit: just realized shelquet wasn't adding in the bardic bonuses so it took more damage The beast is barely standing but still no less dangerous.
Status:
Creature 1: faerie fire; 12 damage (attacking Leiaf & Shelquet)
Creature 2: faerie fire. 12 damage(attacking Argent)

Round 3 cont Argent up
Leiafosaith the Runt
Leiaf scowls at Quin's warning, I'd love to get away, but Mr. gruesome here seems intent on eating me! Despite his misgivings at abandoning Argent, he heeds Quin's warning and tries once again to back away from the creatures.
ROUND 4 Action
Infernal healing +1 HP (8/11)
Spear stab: 1d20 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 + 1 = 1[ooc]+2 if still flanking
damage: 1d8 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 + 1 = 4
5' step backwards and away from Quin
As he waves his spear around clumsily Leiaf yells back, Does anyone know what these things are? Will your spells even work?
tries to identify the creatures:
know:nature: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
know:dungeoneering: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Can someone else make some other knowledge checks? If these things are undead, colour spray, sleep, etc. won't work.
Vrek
What an abysmal showing. Did someone polymorph us into kobolds while we weren't looking? He chuckles and fires again, He steps back a bit and then fires once more not sure what else he can do. At least his voice is sounding fine
To hit:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
dmg 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
EDIT: Holy #$##. Okay, the dice hate me. I get it ;)
DM Gray
After Argent falls, the creature hesitates and then charges Shelquet but slips and misses. The other creature attacks Shelquet and scratches her with a claw. 5 damage Shelquet is rocked back and forth by the beast. Shelquet is staggered.
end round 3
Leiaf stabs at the beast with his spear but fails to make his mark before backing away. Vrek fires his bow but fails to hit either of the creatures.
