So, I am just being curious; but, was showing him the letter something they expected the pcs to do?
I feel like it would be; because he is shown to be an honorable (if evil) man, taking duty seriously under his command.
I am surprised he isn't organizing for a witch hunt amongst his troops, officers, servants that may lead back to a connection to Cordona.
Politics and intrigued are really fun stuff!
DM Fang Dragon
I wasn't expecting you to show it, that's for sure!
In the module if you didn't remove the bit about sending back your heads then they would have tried to kill you while you slept after the meal. There's a lot of them so it would have been a nasty battle! However the module supported a peaceful resolution which you found.
DM Fang Dragon
So I'm mulling over what the effects of the pool of radiance should be, does anyone have a strong opinion for or against mythic rules?
Ser Armithia-Seendren
Are we going to be fighting Tiamat at the end chapter? Then, yes. If it is only a lich than no.
I have played Mythic a few times. It can get a bit out of hand; although, battling a mythic lich would be epic!

The pool of radiance? It should turn us into Hulk. Hulk is green, orcs are green. Ishta approves.
"ISHTA SMASH!!!!!
DM Fang Dragon
Tiamat? Lol she'd be CR35 or so!
Agreed mythic can get out of hand but its just for the last mission of the module, I was thinking it could be a fun way to finish things.
Ser Armithia-Seendren
Back in our AD&D days, we took the Tour of the Gods adventure.
We had our 20th level characters at that time; decide to battle and conquer (absorbing and getting their powers/equipment) the various gods about all and any of the pantheons.
My character Kiros the Brave (we were young) defeated Thor. Another player's character defeated Tiamat. He wanted to turn into THE dragon.
Fun times!
Mythic would be fun for the last mission.
DM Fang Dragon
This encounter is another one from the module, will be interesting to see how things turn out!

Just to warn that I won't be able to post properly until tomorrow. If you don't want to wait, which is totally understandable, Ishta can always throw some magic missiles. That trick never gets old.
DM Fang Dragon
The Kobolds had mundane gear btw, nothing you'd likely care about at this stage.
Azarra
Yeah, not unless we can sell it. :)

My PC's hard drive (and possibly network port which would mean a new motherboard) has died so I'm stuck with this laptop for posting which means no photoshop until I can get things sorted. Fortunately I have a backup onto a nas so I've not lost any (significant) data.
I might still be able to cobble together a map with google docs.

Ishta isn't much of an Illusionist, but let's see...
LEVEL 1 (5)
-Shield
-Magic Missile
-Liberating Command
-Enlarge Person (so the Lizard Champion appears more fearsome)
-Any other (Charm Person, perhaps?)
LEVEL 2 (4)
-Glitterdust
-Invisibility
-Burst of Radiance
-Mirror Image
LEVEL 3 (3)
-Intensified Fireball
-Fly
-Slow
LEVEL 4 (2)
-Empowered Fireball
-Watcher's Wagon
She'll change the Wagon spell after casting to Greater Invisibility. I have to say, this Arcanist feature of being able to change spells is fantastic.
DM Fang Dragon
How is the Lizard Champion going to work? I have this picture in my mind of an enlarged Ser Armithia in makeup disguised to look vaguely lizard like.
Kardas with monsterous physique is probably better though. One of you speaks draconic right?
Ser Armithia-Seendren
Common, Elven, Celestial, draconic, fey, undercommon, giant, gnoll, orc, Aquan, aklo
I really need to go to work...lol.
Ishta Khosiv
My idea was that Kardas with Monstruous Physique is still a humanoid, so he can still be enlarged.
Kardas Rasalas
Per RAW, it should work since I'm not using Monstrous Physique to alter my size. Monstrous Physique into Enlarge Person should do the trick. What other spells are we missing/wanting?
Kardas can memorize 'Fly' twice. Alas, he can only turn himself invisible for a reliable amount of time. He does, however, speak Draconic *and* Fiendish. Can't be a Raumathar battlemage and not know the language of the beasts that destroyed your home country ;)
Azarra
I also speak Draconic, but can we get everyone up in the air?
Ser Armithia-Seendren
Anybody still have that eyestalk?
Ishta Khosiv
Probably Kardas, he likes to keep trinkets as disgusting as possible :p
Azarra
In story we chopped it to bits. We definitely do not have it anymore, sorry. It was creeping Azarra out.
Kardas Rasalas
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Keep trinkets? No, he will either pickle them, dry then crush them into dust or powder, or somehow marinade them with other disgusting ingredients so that they can function as ingredients for his homemade 'power' potions and concoctions.
DM Fang Dragon
Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you decide the next steps :)
Kardas Rasalas
I'm hoping Ishta can perform a divination spell to possibly find out what awaits us, but if that's not possible, I say we buff up and proceed.

I'm not saying the beholder shouldn't die, mind you... only that I'd rather skip it and come back after we find the pool and have a way of taking down Jandark the Jerk. Then we could get the purified council to send us and get paid for it even... i mean hopefully, unless he had them all butchered.
Ser Armithia-Seendren
Couldn't Ishta just D door us? My PFS Arcanist seemed to be our party taxi after he got it. All the way to 20th...lol.

Once we're underneath/around the castle, afaik the mythal says no to any and all teleportation shenanigans.
Azarra
Yeah... I think that is the problem. Pretty sure we have to fight it, although would be happy to hear otherwise. Diplomacy doesn't work against someone who is spellbound like that, with no choice. You could always ask it if there is a non-lethal way to beat it, or overcome the spell. It likely has been thinking about that for decades.
DM Fang Dragon
I have a feeling we may have lost Ishta, the most recent post from Ishta's player I can find in any game is from Dec 14th :(
In terms of plot you're about 1/3 of the way through the final mission, so recruiting doesn't seem like an option at this stage. I'd prefer Ishta came back to be honest but if Ishta doesn't come back I think we've got two options:
1. I or one of you bots Ishta.
2. Ishta is given a fitting exit and the minions of hell grow weaker.
Thoughts?
Azarra
I am okay with either option... maybe #1 is preferable just in case she (well, her player) just hasn't gotten back to normal at the beginning of the year. I know it has been a long time, but what with holiday vacations (I just got off a 2 week one myself) and COVID (super prevalent right now), you never know.
However, that's a burden for someone to bot her, so possibly an exit that has an easy re-entry strategy? She could go back to make sure our allies are safe or to consult that guy we were supposed to consult or whatever, and then if the player does come back, she can show up with some additional helpful information or something?
Ser Armithia-Seendren
Agreed on both counts. I think that Ishta could do those things while we continue.
When Ishta returns she could meet us at a previously arranged place.
Kardas Rasalas
Pfffff :( this really sucks. I'm fine with stalling the character in limbo for now so that if the player returns, we can keep on trucking. I'm still sad by the fact Zane disappeared, and to have another player disappear when we're so close to the finish line is ... ugh.

Hi guys.
First of all, I'm sorry I vanished from sight. I've had some health problems which included, but were not limited to, having COVID-19, and I honestly thought I had left some word here letting you all know.
In any case, I'm not here to tell you sad stories. I just want to present you an apology, and to join back if you still accept me. Hopefully, with the holidays and all, the story hasn't advanced too much, and I'll catch up with it between today and tomorrow if that's fine for y'all.
Of course, if you've moved beyond that and the slot is already covered or whatever, I totally understand - it's actually my fault.
Azarra
Oh, no, we haven't done anything yet... you're totally welcome to pop back in. I think everyone has already expressed that we'd rather have you back than anything else. :)
Ser Armithia-Seendren
Ditto!
DM Fang Dragon
Yay Ishta is back! And yes Covid sucks, I managed to get it too despite being triple jabbed :<
Ser Armithia-Seendren
I keep forgetting that our Cleric is gone. May we say that Ser Armithia used the wand to top us off?
He is down 14. Anyone else? Your tag lines look full?
Azarra
I'm fine I believe unless I forgot to write down some damage, but I usually keep my tagline up to date.

Apologies for being slow, but I'm sinking my teeth into the mythic rules. Apparently, the magus class leans between the champion and the archmage, so I'm trying to make up my mind as to what I want. I'm probably overthinking it.
DM Fang Dragon
Choose which seems like the most fun. I'm expecting you to get to around mythic tier 2-3 by the end of the campaign if that helps.
Ishta Khosiv
Have a look at the Dual Path feat, Kardas.
By the way, I bet our beloved GM has put certain limitations on some broken stuff under the Mythic rules, am I right? Because there's some really broken stuff in there...
Edit: Uh... The Sage of Shadowdale is the one we don't want to name here, right? The one starting with an E?
DM Fang Dragon
Yes there's plenty of broken stuff in mythic, please don't go there unless you want monsters to start doing similar silly damage to you ;)
Kardas Rasalas
Pff, apologies for the lack of updates on my side. My sister's household caught corona, and I started developing flu symptoms over the weekend. Spent the majority of it in and around my bed, but covid tests kept coming back negative.
The worst seems to be behind me, but I still got a nasty headache.
DM Fang Dragon
Covid went through my household a week or so back, the new omicron variant is ridiculously infectious :(
Anyway get well soon! The dragon is eagerly awaiting your decision!
Kardas Rasalas
I'll go for archmage. It seems most fitting, has powers that are fun and interactive, and it lets me double-down on the whole Raumviran vs Nar thing.
I'll try to get the details onto my profile page soon.
I picked: Archmage - Arcane Surge - Mythic Spellcasting (Mirror Image - let me know if this is ok, if not, I'll take the 'Energy Conversion' power) - Great Fortitude (mythic).
Azarra
Uh, I didn't actually add a mythic tier yet. I just chose one, but didn't add it in. I thought we would have to do more first. Should I? Sorry if I am behind.
Ser Armithia-Seendren
I didn't either? Just picked?
