I'll admit it's a bit of strange perception check that if successful tells you that you don't see anything, but the lack of certain things may be telling -- hence the check.
Hmmm... A ship with no food in the galley or personal effects for the sailors.
If I was paranoid I would think that's a big clue. But Mirela missed it, so...

Devan Covarie |

Oops...I guess I was operating under the assumption that verbal communication would be extremely limited. Can we speak and be understood?

Twilight. |

I was going on the assumption that since none of us had ever done this before we were assuming that it couldn't be done =) Since Twilight just succeeded at casting a verbal spell, she figured she might as well give it a try.
I can ret-con the results of the attempt if we are indeed incapable of talking under water.

Mirela Wintrish |

I don't know if you have spent much time in pools or diving, but water actually carries sounds really well. (Think whale sounds heard 10 of miles away.)
That said the words a person uses under water are normally distorted as it transitions from Air to water so I've always used sound only to get someone's attention. But considering we are actually breathing water, it theoretically shouldn't have that problem, so you should be able to speak freely.
That is of course if Science has anything to do with a fantasy world where Magic can create mass and energy from nothing...

Devan Covarie |

I was thinking more the distortion effect of the water when I made my assumption. The sound would carry for sure, but it might just be “glub glub”. I’m running Ruins of Azlant in person, so as the adventure continues moving further towards under water I am curious as to everyone’s thoughts on the matter. I’ve been wrong before, surely. :)

The Gettysburg Address is an extremely short speech, but one of the more memorable ever given by an American President. It was given very shortly after the end of one of the decisive battles in the American Civil War to dedicate the graveyard for the fallen.
It was only about 2 minutes long, but conveys as much in those two minutes them most political speeches cover at 10x the length.

I have been busier than anticiapted during this trip, so apologies for lack of posting. Now, when I have time, I realize I left the Crimson Throne text back aat my home office. Will have to wait until tomorrow night to see what lies beyond inside the hold.
This is what I am guessing the entry order is or when single file is required.
Nargun -->Devan-->Mirela-->Twilight-->Professor
Let me know if that is incorrect.

DM DoctorEvil |

About the environment -
First, sorry, no good map available, so you'll have to deal with my line drawings and text boxes. Hopefully its clear. Since we are underwater, the map really needs to be in 3 dimensions - but that's fairly impossible to draw. The hold is 25' wide, so you have that much "elevation" to play with. I assume the characters are in the middle 5' so please indicate up or down movement using the + or - signs. That is, a character in the middle is at zero elevation. One on the bottom of the hold is at -10 and one along the top is at +10. Is that clear?
The mast is also center elevation, so it only blocks line of sight at that elevation. Lower or higher creatures can bypass without effect. Confused yet?
Also, recall that you can only swim 1/4 move speed per action, unless you have some kind of buff on. You do not need swim checks to move inside the hold as there is no measurable current.
You can see 30' from light source without penalty, but beyond that is considered dim light and has a 50% miss chance. The light source is on Nargun and Mirela presently. Farther than 60', which will be hard to do in the hold, will have 100% concealment.

Mirela Wintrish |

Dr. Evil, are we stuck?

DM DoctorEvil |

Yeah, about that. Kudos to AT&T for knocking out my internet service for nearly a full week. When it was up, it was too weak to do much, so the games languished.
I am should be up to full speed tomorrow, but am headed to bed early this evening.
Sorry for the delay, I am told the service should be reliable from here out, though it must not be if someone needs to tell me that...
More tomorrow!

Mirela Wintrish |

No worries Dr. Evil. I also am happy to hear it is just internet problems. Delays happen, I think we all understand.

Twilight. |

For sending a secret message the DC 15 bluff means the intended recipients understand what was meant.
The total roll is the DC for someone the message is not intended for to realize/understand what was really implied.

Mirela Wintrish |

Ahhh... I wondered about that. That's a feature of bluff, I've never really played with.

DM DoctorEvil |

I will have house guests in for the long weekend and HS graduation for my oldest. They are here through Tuesday AM. As such I am unlikely to be brave enough to face the wrath of my lovely wife and slink off to post while I should be playing host. Suffice to say my posting may be non-existent over the weekend until Tuesday night.
See you then.

Mirela Wintrish |

Congratulations to your Oldest.
And we completely understand...

Mirela Wintrish |

I'll be on the road traveling starting tomorrow and not returning until Tuesday of next week. I will try to post if I can, but I have no idea of internet access throughout all this trip. As such feel free to bot me for the next 6 days if I don't respond within 24 hours.

The Sea Hag - Post Combat Summary
Defeated: 1 sea hag druid 2 and 1 jigsaw shark animal companion. Combined these two are worth 400xp per player. This moves your cumulative total to 11,111 (!) out of 15,000. Or about 22% to level 6.
Injured:
Atticus - 1 DEX dmg;
Nargun 68/70 hp remaining
Devan 12/41hp remaining
Resources Used:
Atticus - cast shield
Mirela - cast bless
Nargun - 2 rage rounds used; 14 remain
Devan used 2 panache and 1 bardic performance
Twilight - cast blur, shield of faith, and spectral hand; used 3 bit of luck (2 remaining)

Mirela Wintrish |

Is anyone still wounded? I can still heal, and I would want everyone to be in fighting shape before we go to this inn.

DM DoctorEvil |

I have Devan down 29hp (at 12/41) and Nargun down 2hp at 68/70. I may have missed a healing on Devan however.
BTW, for finding out the name Andaisin, and figuring out her history and possible connection to what's happening in Korvosa, the players all earn another Story Aware of 300xp per person. That moves your cumulative total to 11.811/15,000 or about 36% to level 6.

Devan Covarie |

[dice=religion]1d20 + 8
Urgathoa... that do make sense. Mirela nods as Devan explains.
Seeing Devan in pain she starts to swim over. As she does she says:
Someone want to be getting the wands and spear from that thing? Then when she arrives at her lover she focuses for a moment and then allows the healing power of Erathis to flow into him.
[dice=Convert Diagnose Disease to Cure Light Wounds]1d8 + 5
[dice=Convert Remove Sickness to Cure Light Wounds]1d8 + 5Better? She asks looking at him with concern?
These came right after the hag fight. And yay, more XP!

Mirela Wintrish |

Yep, I did heal him for 18 points in that post.
So Devan is down 10 and Nargun is down 2.
Devan if I forget make sure to remind me to heal you before we end the day.
Also, I'm assuming that the group is all good helping the wererats?
And yes, Dr. Evil I think you see what I'm getting at. I'm thinking something like our version of the Baker Street Irregulars. (For any of you who are a Sherlock Homes fan) Since they have clearly been watching us already as I'm assuming Devan just noticed.

DMDE, would I be able to find a sunsilver rapier for sale? Total sales price would be 350 gp. It's basically just a MW weapon made of silver that can be used to attempt to blind people (DC 12) in bright light. That being said, it's 40 gp less than just a regular alchemical silver weapon, and it's all shiny and stuff.

I will give you the same chance as a simple magic item, which during this time is 75% likely to find. Low is good to find.
75%likely: 1d100 ⇒ 7
So yes, you can find and purchase one. Korvosa's base value for that same % of magic item varies according to the situation but right now is 7200gp.

Mirela Wintrish |

Ok, we have a mithral dagger from Trinia, that counts as a silvered weapon, does anyone want to use that?
We also have a magical short-spear and a wand that I don't think we ever successfully identified (but we should know is a healing wand from seeing the hag use it.)
Does anyone want any of those items?
I am going to need to go back to Fletcher and buy the rest of those silver arrows he had in stock, as I only have 5 silver arrows right now. I should also probably have a silver melee weapon for backup, so I could use the mithral dagger, but I would only take it the others do not want it.
If anyone else wants this I might try to find a silvered mace or morning star. (Question, does a silvered morning start take the -1 to damage as it is Bludgeoning and Piercing?)

Twilight. |

As we are going to rest for the evening, Twilight can attempt to identify that wand again. If Atticus is willing, we could ask madam Zellara about it as she can identify stuff through her harrow deck.
I have a wand of cure light at the moment, it might be good to have a wand with Mirella as well. If she isn't interested and nobody else can UMD it, I can add it to my wand collection.

Mirela Wintrish |

Twilight I would obviously take the wand if nobody else can use it.
It’s party healing, it’s always good to have two sources.

Nargun Firehelm |

Silly me…
I wanted to pay for a silvered axe, and was intrigued when I saw I had only less than 40 GP,while you were between 500 to 2000 GP each .
So I checked the loot tracker… and saw I bought a magical armor and upgraded my msw favorite axe to a +1 axe.(3200 gp total)
In september 2018.
I totally forgot to update my Equipment since.
Silly.
Silly.
Silly.
Silly stupid me.

DM DoctorEvil |

I just assumed you would ID the wand and shortspear +1 and didn't go through the motions. They were listed on the loot log fully identified.
I assume from the talk that Mirela will take the wand of cure moderate wounds (18 charges). Are you also taking the mithril dagger that was given by Trinia or is that being assigned to someone else?
I upgraded Nargun' armor and weapon, but there hasn't been a ton of fighting since then.
There are few other things on the loot tracker which someone may want to equip. Remember the have to be equipped to a PC to use during combaat. Loot Tracker items can be used out of combat normally.

Mirela Wintrish |

Doctor Evil.
I'm going to change my spells around this morning.
I can't do it now, as I'm at work, but will post up my list of different spells memorized within the next real life 24 hours. I assume that won't be a problem?
I just wanted to get that in the record as I know we passed the morning spell memorization period in game time.

Mirela Wintrish |

I'll take Diagnose Disease, don't worry Twilight.

Mirela Wintrish |

New Spells Memorized:
. . 3rd—magic circle against evil[D], remove disease
. . 2nd—aid, align weapon (good only)[D], calm emotions (DC 14), lesser restoration
. . 1st—bless, calm animals[D] (DC 13), detect evil, diagnose disease[UM], shield of faith
. . 0 (at will)—detect magic, light, purify food and drink (DC 12), stabilize
