Hehe, yup. On top of my schedule shifting to 10 hour days Mon-Thur I've had to lead a group in one of my classes to get a presentation done and help the less tech savvy people figure out how to record their parts of the presentation and send them all to me so I could edit it all together into a cohesive video. In addition to that I have two case studies in my other classes I have to finish up by this weekend. Also some family drama thrown into the mix between it all.
Suffice it to say, probably for the next 5 weeks until my classes are over it is going to be pretty busy. I appreciate the ping though as it reminds me to check back in once everyone has posted. I will probably have a post up tonight.

I envision Nargun tossing aside his axe and charging in, tackling the jester sending both of them through the window and then landing on top of her after they fall two stories to the ground below.

As undead are harmed by positive energy, it makes some kind of sense. In another adventure, with another character, I used a wand of cure light wounds to fight off an undead, zombified, horse.
Maybe it's stretching the rules a little, or requires some outside the box thinking, but it has some kind of poetic justice in it, in roleplaying & storytelling terms, without harming anyone (except the zombie, of course, but that's the point)
Ahh, so my understanding of the rules was correct.
That said In this case if I was the GM, I would totally have let this go... For many years my home game has adopted a house rule to bring in the Savage world type Benies in place of 5E inspiration. So we bend the rules like this all the time. I thought for a moment that this was allowed by RAW.

I admit that I have never seen it done with a cure spell before, I have seen it done with other damaging touch spells.
I think that since touch spells can crit, nobody I have played with before has thought twice about it. That being said, however, reading the rules more closely it does seem like its not strictly RAW.
However, it was thematic and DM made a call so its all good =)
Dropping a note in all my games. Finished up with school yesterday, just waiting on the audit for me to officially be done and graduate even though there are no commencements with the whole virus thing. Wife is doing better after brief stint in the hospital. Looking at starting to get back into my games and get posting again sometime this week. My work is really crazy as first kids were coming back on the 17th but now everything is going to be virtual for an indeterminate amount of time, but teachers are coming back still and there is a lot of questions floating out there so bare with me as I ease into catching up on things and getting back into a regular posting routine again over the next week or so.

It's been crazy busy, but I'm missing interacting with you all. Hope you all are doing well!
Hey, I wanted to drop in and give all my games an update. I had asked someone to post in here about me being out but it looks like this game may have gotten missed. About 3 weeks ago I tested positive for COVID and I had been struggling with it for about a week before that. I'm still alive, obviously, and I've managed to stay out of the hospital and off a ventilator. However, I'm still not fully recovered. Even though I'm outside my two week symptomatic/infectious period by over a week there are some lingering issues that are still weighing on me (continued shortness of breath, getting light headed, overall fatigue). I doing my best to push through it but it is barely just enough to get me through work everyday and doesn't leave a lot of time for anything else. I would like to give a hard and fast "I'll be back and up to playing again by this time", but sadly at this point I can't. It could be a couple weeks or it could be a couple months for me to get used to this new (hopefully temporary) norm on top of a few other things going on.
All this to say, I'm ok, I'm trying my best to manage, but I can't give you a hard "this is when I will be back". I understand it has been awhile as it is, between this most recent struggle with COVID and my past slowness with finishing up my graduate stuff so if you need to move on without me I completely understand and I'm just sorry that right as I was getting back into things again this whole virus thing came along and knocked me back down again. I'll check in again once I feel I'm up to playing with everything else I am balancing.
Seriously take care of yourself GM Dak. Real life always comes first.
For everyone else, what would you like to do?
I'm enjoying what GM Dak has been putting out, so I"d Like to keep the seat held for him until he is ready.
With that said, I think we have two options.
1) We can continue to wait. It's been a month, and may be a while more before we can start up again.
2) I'm willing to fill the GM seat on a temporary basis. Some background: I've run DM/GMed D&D/Pathfinder campaigns for over 30 years now, so I've made most of the mistakes you can make, and come out the other side.
It would mean that Mirela steps back a bit for the next session, but that would allow the game to continue and GM Dak to take the time he needs to recover. I can't do this long term (as I normally work 60+ hours a week, plus take care of my family) but for a few months I'm willing to step in.
And of course I'm very willing to hand this back over to GM Dak when he is ready. It means I have to spoil myself a bit on the next portion of the AP, but I'm pretty good at segregating Player and PC knowledge after all these years of playing.

I'm glad to hear that you are ok and recovering GM Dak.
Mirela's suggestion is an interesting one.
I could also swap out with Mirella from time to time so that gm duties were shared and no one character disappeared for extended periods of time if we want to do this.
I don't know what the overall story structure is like, but so far it seems to be a series of mini missions for the guard. We could swap after each mini mission?
I have plenty of table top gm experience, but admittedly no pbp gm experience. I know there are some significant differences between the two formats that require different techniques, but I'm willing to give it a shot.
I was hoping that just one of the mini missions would be needed. But who knows.
My thought was for consistently Mirela wouldn't totally disappear, she would just act like an NPC. Tagging along and making roleplaying things happen but not being creative or pushing the party in a given direction.
If more then one mini mission is needed, well then swapping GMs might be needed. But it takes us a while to run through one like this.
If the general feeling is people want me to do this, I'll crack open the PDF and see if I can read the next mission.

I don't mind waiting for Dak to return, but if you don't mind running things I'm not opposed to it, either. I've played through this before, and Mirela definitely needs to come along (which you stated would be the case).

And thanks for checking in, Dak! I'm glad you're recovering from your nightmare encounter with the virus. Take care and hope to see you soon.
Since I'm just temporarily filling in I can't change the map link up above, but I can drop the first link here of what you know about the Hospice of Mercy.
Sorry for the long silence a lot been going on and after getting pinged on Discord I wanted to drop a note in all my games. I'm actually doing a lot better now, pretty much fully recovered. However, my wife has been really sick, last month she was in the hospital for a week and I'm sitting in the surgery center now waiting to see how things turn out on a few hour procedure she is currently in. Depending on how invasive the surgery is I may be dealing with a lot for at least a month or so taking care of her and the kids and working. On top of that with the holidays coming and the normal delays that revolve around that I am going to say that it's going to be at least January before I look at picking things up again. Maybe if things get better sooner I will try jumping back in before that but I feel like early January is going to be more realistic.
If you need to move on without me I understand feel free to find a replacement if needed and when I check back we can go from there. Sorry for all the absent time, these last few months have just really kicked my butt first physically, then mentally and emotionally. Hope you all are keeping safe and have a good Thanksgiving and Christmas for those who celebrate.

It's good to hear from you, Dak. I'm glad you are doing better and hope your spouse's surgery is a success and she recovers quickly, as well.
