Male Human Flowing Monk of the Sacred Mountain 2

Soth-Loren: Just wanted to let you know quick that I posted before your edit, so I just now saw your question to Alanaes. I don't have much time right this second, but I'll respond to you sometime soon-ish.

bump stuff:

Soth, please don't do this in the game thread. It's fine over here in Discussion to get things moving again, but part of the enjoyment of the game is the immersion factor, you know?

It's sort of like someone yelling "Hey, pick up the pace" during a slow part of a live play.

We bump stuff so that it stays one the top of the stack inside the sub forums. It isn't saying "hurry up", it's keeping it from dropping into the archives, and also keeping the forum alive, so that people that have posted in it will continue to see new posts being made since their last visit. A lot of people do not subscribe to threads, so that is how they continue the game. It is common in PbP especially.

No worries.

Now that game tabs have been implemented, it isn't necessary. Clicking on the Campaigns tab in your profile shows every game you're in and every update that's been made since your last post, across all relevant threads.

And I disagree with you that it's common. You can check my campaigns if you like to see how many games I'm in. I follow three others that I'm not in. I've never seen anyone bump and in-game thread, especially not big, bold, and in black font.

It's not a big deal. I'd just prefer that if bumping is necessary that it be done in ooc text, or in the discussion thread. They exist so that we can post Out Of Game things without breaking immersion., so why not use them?

Your Harrow cards to repersent you in a Harrow Reading.

Soth-Loren:
Your card is The Trumpet.

Darian:
Your card is The Hidden Truth.

Geoff:
Your card is The Survivor.

Terra:
Your card is The Cricket. Your card did show up in the reading, so if you opted to get the reading, the meaning is very stong for you in particular.

Alanaes:
Your card is The Brass Dwarf.

Rogar:
Your card is The Twin. But then, everyone knows that now.

DM C, Can you put the link to that map in the Campaign Info tab so it won't get lost?

Done. Anything else?
Everyone seems to be quiet now.

Shadow Lodge

I'm just kind of waiting. I already sort of stated what I was wanting to do the trip up to that point.

If no one does anything else, I'll write soemthing more to sort of bump the game along.

I've been having a little trouble playing Terra, as she is just too shy and thus passive. With permission, I might adjust her personality to be more assertive. I liked the shy aspect to her, but it is just too hard to convey in a social game and I think it is only helping in slowing the game down. I'd like to give her a more active role to help her push the game forward.

Thoughts?

--
ohh and Soth, that background addition is fine, we can do that.

Shadow Lodge

Sounds good. :)

What about changing her personality a bit so that she is always questioning herself. You could present her "passivness" more as a dialogue she has with herself, sort of like at the begining. You could also play it off a bit with Darian, (I think), who might have gotten to know you the most and can speak vocally, for you.

So instead of Terra saying I think that's a bad idea, but maybe instead we could do this,______.

Terra can look down at her feet and play with the dust, I don't like that idea, to risky, and I'm not sure I can do it, as she glances over at <something indicateing/representing what you want>

That being said, I assumed you where planning on building upon that idea and letting her learn confidence. I am actually enjoying her as a character, and I don't think she is slowing the game down so much as it's just a slow game in general. No one fault really.

Let me know though, if you would like to try to work on something with the character, and I'll try to help. I recall at the begining you indicated you sort of wanted a motherly, protective matron sort of role.

Honestly, I really like Terra the way she is. Having her go through a change as a result of the things that happen in game is a really cool idea, but I think it would be weird if it came out of nowhere.

Terra reminds me of Velma from Scoobie Doo (who was always my favorite character). It's fine to be socially awkward but still intensely driven about certain things. It would be really cool to see what happens when the normally shy Terra becomes excited or passionate about something important to her.

Ok then, sounds good. I'll keep her as she is.

Oh, no. Character change and growth is awesome. Just don't make it arbitrary. We want to know what is important enough to Terra to force a change.

I'll third that I actually really like the way she is. I was just saying if you must change her, maybe that stuff could work. I find her very interesting and intrigueing, and she keeps leaving me wanting just a little more. I also like that she is awesome at giving me something to play off of, in a sense. She lets me highlight that Nobility domain, encouraging others aspect of my character, so thank you for that.

Daww, I missed~ :P

Only because Rogar got in the way...

I love how Darian's corrected damage did the exact same as before!

HP , AC , CMD , Fort +, Ref +, Will +, Init +

Yeah. Hence the facepalm. :)

Just for information sake, I am aware of how many HP the Beastiary says an owlbear has on average, and the fact that you have done more than that. But I'm not using average HP for beasts, but rolling for them.
Be aware, the owlbear doesn't have long to live at this rate, and is badly wounded. But it just isn't quite dead yet.

HP , AC , CMD , Fort +, Ref +, Will +, Init +

We are a larger sized party. I wasn't looking at the bestiary, but I assume anything we run into is going to have above average HP.

Personally, I usually maximize the HP of monsters when I run games. >:)

Unless I understand wrong, I can choose to aim for F13 and not get the melee penalty correct?

But then could the front half of the owlbear grant itself soft cover?

There are two seperate penalties. One, is the -4 for firing into melee (which is the one he was talking about) which always applies if the target is in melee range of anyone else. The second, which is the one you avoided by being able to aim at F-13, is the -4 cover bonus. If you would of had to fire through someone, then you would have had a toatl of -8 to hit.

HP , AC , CMD , Fort +, Ref +, Will +, Init +

Basically the rules don't like anyone without Precise Shot to even take a shot.

It's also the primary reasons why Ray spells suck.

In a normal fight any non-ranged build can only fire before melee characters close distance. After that they can either cast true strike between every attack, or they can plan on missing a lot.

Correct. The penalty I mentioned was not the cover penalty, but the "in melee" penalty.
And because the owlbear is in melee with something its size...

And Darian, its your turn. Post soon, or I'll put you on wait also.

Male Human Flowing Monk of the Sacred Mountain 2

I will be out of town for a wedding, from Thursday through Monday, and will not have reliable access to the Internet. Please feel free to DMPC my character until I am back.

Shadow Lodge

Sorry, deployment stuff has kept me offline for a week or two. I'm still here, but I have a lot of catching up to do. I apologize for just vanishing.

HP , AC , CMD , Fort +, Ref +, Will +, Init +

Well there's a rules hiccup I've never noticed before.

My first batch of attacks I was able to stand in front of the goblins (L6, hard to tell exactly what square I'm in on horseback) and sweep my polearm across all three enemies within reach.

Second batch of attacks, the enemies are also in a line, but this time it's diagonal. All of a sudden I can't make that sweeping attack.

Quirky.

I was counting you back a bit, and the line was straight.
And, to be honest, someone pointed out the range problems with reach weapons to me recently.
It should have affected your attacks on the first set of goblins, but that was too long ago to fix, so I let it stand.
And the diagonal line does but the goblins at different distances than the straight line.
Sorry for the interupt.

HP , AC , CMD , Fort +, Ref +, Will +, Init +

No problem. Sorry I missed that.

I think I'll just take Catch Off Guard later and continue to bash things that are too close with the haft. It seems like a pretty elegant solution to the problem, and since Ive already displayed a penchant for picking other things and swinging them around, it's even character-relevant.

Shadow Lodge

Just a heads-up. I'm getting close to redeploying. I may not be able to get online so much in the next 2 weeks, (not sure, but it is a possibility), and within 3-4 weeks, (for a short time) may not be able to get on at all. I would say, maybe 50/50, as I'm honestly not sure what to expect this time, but that is worst case. :)

me too, little to no internet access until Monday :(

Male Human Flowing Monk of the Sacred Mountain 2

Just a quick heads up to you all to let you know I won't be available all weekend. We are moving to our new house officially, and I won't have Internet, much less any time to jump on the forums until probably Tuesday. Have a great weekend!

HP , AC , CMD , Fort +, Ref +, Will +, Init +

Didnt Soth say he was going to be away for deployment stuff?

Since we will be missing Terra, Geoff, and Alanaes until the holiday weekend is over, I have no problem giving Soth-Loren time to answer before taking his turn myself.
If he doesn't post though the holiday, I'll post for him. He'll probabily have to move to get to everyone else.

Shadow Lodge

I am back from deployment, and hoping that the game is still going on and I can jump back in.

I've posted, but haven't heard from anyone else yet.

HP , AC , CMD , Fort +, Ref +, Will +, Init +

I'm here. I've been waiting on Soth (or anything else really)

hp 25 | AC 13 | T 13 | FF 10 | CMD 14 | F +2 | R +4 | W +4 | Init +5 | Per +6 |

I'm here. Waiting for the round to make it back to me.

Rogar has been absent for a long while now.

Geoff, Alanaes, are you guys still here?

HP , AC , CMD , Fort +, Ref +, Will +, Init +

Wareagle, the Rogar's player, was my GM for 2 games that he stopped updating months ago without warning.

As his main alias (Wareagle) he hasn't posted on the boards since Apr 26

As Rogar he hasn't posted since March 28th

At this point I think it's safe to say he's not an active player any longer.

Waiting on Geoff and Alanaes right now.
I've been running Rogar. After this encounter, I'll 'write' him out of the curent game, and maybe find another player.

Male Human Flowing Monk of the Sacred Mountain 2

I've been waiting on Geoff. Also, I still cannot see the map (and haven't had time to check it at home), so I'm a little blind as to who's where. Am I next to any goblins?

The fight has seemed to bogged down.
I guess it is a lesson in making complex fights on-line... don't.
But still, who is still with the game?
Give a shout here in the discussion if your still here.

HP , AC , CMD , Fort +, Ref +, Will +, Init +

Still here.

I don't see the fight as complex. The issue is that Rogar vanished a couple months ago, Geoff seems to have dropped off as well, and Soth has very spotty reliability due to his job.

I'm pretty sure Al, Terra and I are still here all the way, but we're waiting on people who might not be in the game anymore.

We can't take people's turns for them, but you can, and after a couple days of inaction, I think you probably should.

Also, after this fight I think we should recruit another player or two and cut the people who don't answer a "role call".

Shadow Lodge

I'm here, my understanding of the init was that I'm not up for a few more actions?
