Stepping forward still slowly trying to eventually flank the monstrosity, he timed his swing to distract the creature as Sir Thetin struck hopefully pulling its focus for his blade to strike true.

Carilain gingerly steps past the body parts strewn across the floor, until he reaches the corner of the table. using the chair as a step he scrambles up on the table top. Should put me at J-6.
Once on the table top, the magus sends another evocation of frost at the peryton.
But missed again, the ray tracing even more hoarfrost across the wall behind it.

Kankai the White_____
Kankai would duck around the side of the creature moving to K3 using her acrobatic skills to try to dodge any attack it would use. She succeeds and her attack hits; though it didn’t do as much damage as she expected.
Like no damage at all.

Kyra slips into position to attack the strange creature and strikes it hard with her scimitar!

Carilain closes the remaining distance to the peryton. drawing on his arcane pool, Carilain charges his blade with power, then levels a two-handed strike at the weird antlered beast.

Kyra nods at Carilain after he takes down the fey beast. "How did such a foul creature come to be in this room?" She casts a simple spell to check for an magical auras.


No magic auras, except for fading traces coming from the sand table.
Any information here on the sand table has been erased by people running around on the top of it as well as the fountaining of blood from open chest wounds.
The bodies all told bear 8 sets of masterwork parade armor, 8 masterwork shortswords, 8 poisoned daggers (scorpion venom 4 doses each), two hand crossbows (10 bolts each), and 8 purses of 100 crowns each of various coinage.

Kankai would look at everyone making sure they were okay before starting to loot the bodies. "Looks like some of these blades are poisoned. I'll take a few of them if people don't mind. The rest of what we don't need can go to the crusaders." She picked up the hand crossbows. "I can take one of these, anyone else know how to use them?"

I am good with my light crossbow. Sir Thetin, how are you feeling? I am low on the goddess's grace but I still have some energy left for healing if you need it.

Kankai snapped her beak as she nodded and would head to the next room checking for traps on the door, checking to see if it was locked and if she heard anything inside.

"That was a fey beast. I'm not sure why it would have been here." Carilain surveys the carnage of tiefling bodies. "I think it might have been an enemy off all. Us, the domon spawn, anyone. I think it just liked to kill."
Carilain follows Kankai to the next door. "I've heard that Perytons have a some sort of 'Shadowmark' power that makes them better at hunting their prey."

Carilain grows silent as they approach the door. He prepares for whatever comes next, Grimstar in hand, comfortably, like the sword was an extension of his arm.

Kankai smelled carrion and if she could wrinkle her nose she would. But considering her beak didn't move she would wave her hand in the human gesture go it not smelling well.

Once everyone nodded they were in position she would carefully open the door knowing she probably won't like what is inside.

Carilain wrinkles his nose and nods his head to show that he is ready.


When you open the door, you see that this is, or was, a Library.
Bookshelves line the walls. Many of the tomes have been torn to shreds, and smoldering piles of ashes fill the room with an acrid stench.
One small stack of books on a circular table seem to have escaped destruction.
Standing over the table, arranging it in a more suitable pile for burning, is a strange creature.
It is a tall, muscular humanoid with the head and hooves of a demonic goat. A ragged hide covers patches, usually around the forearms and lower legs, with a crestlike patch running down from the creature's crown to the nape of its neck. It is 7 feet tall, though it stoops to appear shorter, and weighs 300 pounds.
It chews on the end of its halberd, leaving it covered with spittle.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27 It's looking right at you, in a defensive stance as you open the door.
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 You have Initiative.

With the sure acknoledgement that the others were probably much better suited to best the creature in melee he moved forward and torwards one of the corners, clearing the way for his friends to advance.

Kyra moves into the room alongside her companions, hugging the nearby wall until she ends her movement nearby the bookshelf. She quickly imbues her cold iron blade and then casts a spell that sends her hurtling forward to stop next to the demon, her blade slicing at it as she passes by!

Move Action - Move to J4. Swift Action - Arcane Strike. Standard Action - Cast Bladed Dash to move into E4 and attack th demon when in range.

This is guessing he is an evil outsider if not then -2 to this hit and initial dmg and ignore holy dmg.

It is a rare creature known as a Schir, also known as a Spite Demon. Among the most bad tempered outsiders ever, it can jump considerable distances and his spittle (which covers the halberd as he chews on it nervously) causes filthy diseases.

Just FYI, Kyra's scimitar is cold iron. So if the creature's DR is Cold Iron or Good, then her attack would bypass the DR.

He warned his friends as he advanced forward hurrying to the side of the monster and truly hemming it into the corner.

(Kankai can ignore the damage dealt by the demon last round, as his halberd had slipped out of his hands at that point.)

And Carilain, Kyra, Kankai (but not Thetin, who seemed to avoid hitting the demon at all costs) hack the demon into blackened bloody chunks that fly everywhere in the room.


The only thing the Schir demon had was the halberd, though it's hard to tell under the diseased spittle and Grease it is currently covered in.

Appraise DC13:
It is a masterwork, Alchemical Silver halberd, probably looted from a crusader.

Sadly, most of the tomes in this small library have been torn to shreds, and smoldering piles of ashes fill the room with an acrid stench.
Only one small stack of six books on a circular table seem to have escaped destruction.
The surviving six books are history texts, tomes on geography, and tactical manuals.

Detect Magic results:
One of the tomes has a magic aura, you feel it as Moderate Enchantment.

Each is worth 50 gp.

Knowledge:Arcana:
The seventh tome is a Manual of War.
From Ultimate Equipment.
Bound in bloodstained leather, this heavy tome is scarred like the flesh of a seasoned warrior and contains many generations of martial knowledge.
Once per day, after studying the manual for 1 hour, a fighter may exchange one of her fighter bonus feats for another combat feat.
She must meet the prerequisites for this new feat and she cannot alter a feat she is using as a prerequisite for another feat, prestige class, or other ability.
This change persists for 24 hours, after which time the fighter's feats return to normal. The fighter may spend 10 minutes studying the manual to end its effects early.

Kankai would clean the blade she had been using and looks it over. She was coming to appreciate this sword more and more. Putting it back in its sheath she snapped her beak and looked at her poor ichor and blood stained feathers. She was slowly turning the black her people were known for from just that.

Helping gather up what was useful and still intact. She would wait for the others to look over them.

Carilain cleans his sword carefully as well. As demons go, I don't think that one was real powerful, best not to grow overconfident. The elf advises his weapon.

Carilain casts detect magic, then has a look around.

"Nice. It's silvered." Carilain lays the halberd aside.
"Wish I had a library to keeps these myself." The elf sighs. "But they're worth 50 gold each."

The elf's eyes shine with excitement. "And this is a Manual of War. Very handy for warrior types."

The DC is 25 I believe. My score in k,arcana and spellcraft are the same. (+9)

Probably not finding anything of consequence she would move out and to the next door to look it over checking it for traps and if it was locked. Waiting for everyone else before she would open it.

Turning in your direction are monstrous examples of the Worldwounds infestation with all manner of demonic vermin—enormous, normally mindless monsters that have become infused with abyssal energies that grant them vile intellects and many of the traits shared by demons.
Five of these creatures, demonic giant flies with faces that look all too human save for their deformed rasping maws and tiny half-formed hands on the tip of each spindly leg, dwell in this room.
