DM-Camris' RISE of the RUNELORDS Gestalt (Anniversary Edition) Part 2: The Skinsaw Murders (Inactive)

Game Master Camris

PART FOUR: MISGIVINGS
The “Misgivings” is the local name for Foxglove Manor, a region
shunned by locals for years as a place of shadowy menace, bad luck,
and haunts. No one travels the road to the Misgivings today.
Lord Foxglove made attempts to rebuild and reclaim the place, but found few willing to work in the region due to its ill history.

Drawing an AoO from the orderly--Brin is trying for a triple shot!!
Unarmed AoO vs Brin: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29 for a possible 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 damage.
Move in the middle of three (7,10,11) of the enemies, Brin tries a swiping cleaving shot with his humming enchanted blade of force.
first attack: He hits and obliterates Red 10.
cleave follow: He swings through and also hits and obliterates Red 11.
When Red 11 drops, bonus attack: And again hits and obliterates Red 7.
AC is 29 until cleave, then it drops to 27

Rafael Morganis_____
Rafael leaves the ghouls in brin's competent hands and aims at the necromancer:
Your first attack is a surprise miss, since you thought you hit him dead center.

Spellcraft DC15:
He has some kind of Displacement spell or effect on him.

And your second attack just plain missed.

(npc) Alkaid_____
Alkaid tries a snap kick at the remaining orderly, but missed wide.

(npc) Midori_____
Midori stepped up to the remaining Orderly and lashed out with her katana, but missed wide.

Idril_____
Seeing the weight of forces on her flank, she dropped into a defensive stance and lashed out with her bladed scarf. When it landed on Red 4’s neck, she whipped it back, sawing the ghoul’s head off in the process. Seeing no one coming to help, she called out ”You bastards!” with a lot of outrage.

Red 13 is hopping mad, unable to get at Idril.
The necromancer says; “Rise, my friend.”
And Grayst slowly shuffled to his feet, then turns his burning red eyes on Rafael. (Double move)
The necromancer considers the forces and shook his head.
”No no no. This won’t do at all.” He said.
He then pointed his finger at Brin and a coruscating ray leapt forth to strike Brin in the body. He immediately felt the strength leave his arms.
Ray of Enfeeblement: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 points of strength lost for seven rounds. Fort save DC16 to halve the strength loss.

The necromancer waived his undead minions over, carrying the unconscious bulk of Brin.
”Yesss. Yessss! Such a beautiful specimen… The rest of you take care of the last remnants of these pathetic deputies!” He said flippantly.
Brin was dragged around the corner and out of sight.

Red 3 moved up and attacked Rafael.

He casts Dominate Person on Rafael. (Will save DC20)

Rafael is not sure what happened. While he was shooting at the Necromancer (and missing), he saw Alkaid collapse next to him at the same time he heard something crash through the door behind him and everything went black.

When you come back to your senses, you smell the dank odor of a cellar, old blood and undeath.
You hear Doctor Habe talking.
"... sure they cannot break free?" He said, the cowardice in his voice apparent. "Your other... subjects are still cleaning up the mess you all made of my workroom!"
You are able to open your eyes now.
TACTICAL SITUATION
Rafael, Alkaid and Midori are shackled upright to the cellar walls by their wrists, while Brin, Idril and Korbin are shackled to lab tables by their wrists and ankles.
Korbin is clearly dead; his eyes staring sightless and his skin dead white because all his blood had been drained from his arm and neck into glass jugs on the floor.
You see the Necromancer delicately peeling Idril's face away from her skull and set into a jar of pale rose gel of some kind.
Brin is still alive; but disturbingly, he has dotted lines around his face.
"Calm yourself Doctor! No one has ever escaped from my lab before. Oh this subject is marvelous. This Brin will be my finest work!" He said, tittering with delight as he held Idril's face next to Brin's.

Spellcraft DC15:
You are pretty sure the Necromancer's Displacement spell has worn off by now.

At this point you have recovered 25% of your max hp; some of the damage must have been nonlethal.
Your packs and equipment are piled over on the crate indicated, you're still wearing your armor (and any concealed equipment like wrist sheathed weapons).
You feel your arms and legs tingling as the paralysis wears off.

He tries his left manacle too.
STR: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

Rafael struggles, probably futilely, to free himself from the shackles.

Female Human [Tian-Min] Bard/Artisan-4

Midori wakes up, somewhat surprised to be alive. She glares at Alkaid, but holds her tongue, unsure if their captors realize that Alkaid is a cleric, and capable of channeling to destroy any further undead.

She looks around for Hiro. if the construct is in the room with them, she will try to guide him to pick the manacles holding them, starting with Rafael, who seems the most competent fighter not being immediately observed by their captors. If not, she will mentally give Hiro a message for Sheriff Hemlock and send him to Sandpoint.

Alkaid wakes up groggily and looks over the area
"Oh this looks like it'll be fun..." she adds in a rare bout of sarcasm.

Midori:
Spotting your familiar lurking behind a table leg, you silently guide it towards Rafael as he yanks at his shackles.

Rafael:
As you yank at your shackles uselessly, a homunculus climbed up the back of your leg.

Brin: As you yank at your shackles, the chain groans but does not give.

The Necromancer gives Brin a gentle smile.
"There there, this will all be over soon. And you will be better than ever!" He said with a maniacal grin.
He used a scalple to start cutting along the dotted line around Brin's face, dealing 2 points of damage.

Rafael:
The homunculous climbed up to your shackles and started fiddling with them. Six seconds later, one of the shackles comes loose, leaving your left arm free and your right arm with a shackle and a six foot length of chain attached.

Brin: With a herculean effort you strained against the shackles. The chains creak, then groan, then... you break free!
Your left arm anyway.

Midori silently signals Hiro to get the other cuff.

If I need to reroll:
Disable Device from master: disable device: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

Rafael:
Just your arms were shackled to each other with a six foot length of chain over a roof joist. Your legs are free.
Since one arm is unshackled now, you can just pull the chain through the joist to move freely.

[spoiler=Midori]With one shackle opened, Rafael is effectively free (just with a six foot length of chain loose around his right wrist).[/ooc]

Female Human [Tian-Min] Bard/Artisan-4

In that case, Midori will call Hiro to free her.
