So... there was this huge gap where this just didn't update for me. It took a PM from Camris to remind me that it was still a thing. >.>

So, uh... what's happened while I've been screwed over by the boards? ^^'

After your last post, the party pressed on and found the Warden's office. It had a safe no one could open.

Deciding to rest, the party trekked back to town to rest.
The next day another letter written in blood was found on the Harrowstone memorial. Deciding to find out who was doing that, they waited in ambush. They ran down and caught a local poor farmer, Gibs Hephaenus, who when questioned didn't remember what had happened to him.

Handing the guy over to the sheriff, you all made the trek back up to Harrowstone.
Exploring to the eastern section, you have made your way to where the armored door to the property room was. There is another door out of this room that has evil detected behind it.

Sorry, busy couple of days. Am I dropped?

No no, of course not. Just trying to keep the ball rolling...

I also have a crowbar if a door needs forcing. :)

Just out of curiosity, who all is still playing?

Those of you feeling frustration at the difficulty of dealing with Haunts, remember positive energy from Channeling, Cure spells, even potions can be used to affect them and their effects.

I tried a CLW spell and botched my touch attack. Leaves me SOL. >.>

If you didn't make contact with the touch, you are still 'holding the charge'.

D'oh. I completely spaced on that. Cheers.

Come on guys, somebody's got to go first! Unless you're resting or something...

I say we push the paladin in first. :D

Xiuj nods and seconds that motion.

We haven't come across any blunt weapons in here, have we?

There is a great deal of old debris that you could turn into improvised weapons, light clubs, light mace (or hammer), shortspears, etc.

Male Half-Orc Paladin (Undead Scourge)/4;HP 43/43; AC 19 T 11 FF 17; Fort +9; Ref +5 Will +8; CMB +6; CMD 18; Per +1; Init +1; Spd 20ft.

Crud, I forgot to add my campaign trait bonus damage to undead (+1 damage to each successful attack). Sorry.

Seems to me like you all could use another player. Just feels wrong playing half the party.

Yeah, I could see that feeling weird. Maybe put out recruitment feelers when we reach a story-appropriate point?

Male Half-Orc Paladin (Undead Scourge)/4;HP 43/43; AC 19 T 11 FF 17; Fort +9; Ref +5 Will +8; CMB +6; CMD 18; Per +1; Init +1; Spd 20ft.

Yeah once the dungeon kills us or vice versa :)

Are you guys fighting undead? If you guys want to ramp this game up again I would love to join.

Male Half-Orc Paladin (Undead Scourge)/4;HP 43/43; AC 19 T 11 FF 17; Fort +9; Ref +5 Will +8; CMB +6; CMD 18; Per +1; Init +1; Spd 20ft.

Handaxe crit is x3, do we just multiply the damage by 3 or do I roll two more times for damage?

Male Half-Orc Paladin (Undead Scourge)/4;HP 43/43; AC 19 T 11 FF 17; Fort +9; Ref +5 Will +8; CMB +6; CMD 18; Per +1; Init +1; Spd 20ft.

What are our travel options from here?

Are you all wanting to rest here?

Are you guys OK out there?

Still here. Just turned 40, getting over the depression ;)

Before we continue, Do you guys want to continue on down below, or recruit a few more players first? Looks like you're down to two active right now.

Male Elf Bard (Detective)/4;HP 34/34; AC 17 T 12 FF 15; Fort +2; Ref +7 Will +4; CMB +3; CMD 16; Per +11; Init +3; Spd 30ft.

DM Camris, I have read your last post, and I have a suggestion. You are an awesome DM and should have the following a new recruitment for Carrion Crown deserves. I suggest you recruit again and try to see if we can keep this party going with some new blood.

I would be happy to start at ground zero or somehow push through this first chapter and move on. Although we share a love for these pregens, I would be happy to start again with a new character. I would strongly suggest you look at posting history and get a solid party of 5 to go again. I only suggest five because that leaves you an extra for the inevitable attrition that plagues all PbPs.

Just my 2cp.

And thanks for trying to rescue Ninja DMs campaign. I am totally happy you took my giant down to 5hp!!! Gestalt characters are so powerful, I sometimes wish more stuck to the 15 standard point buy with core races the APs suggest.

Male Half-Orc Paladin (Undead Scourge)/4;HP 43/43; AC 19 T 11 FF 17; Fort +9; Ref +5 Will +8; CMB +6; CMD 18; Per +1; Init +1; Spd 20ft.

Did the rest we took in Harrowstone count as re-setting Aggie's lay on hands?

Agrimar: Yes, you rested your full 8 hours. That counts towards refreshing your number of lay on hands.

Ereviss: Thanks! I suppose I was waiting for the end of the module to do recruiting, as that was the most logical time to do it. You only have this one and the next one to complete the first book!
And as for the pregens, I think I'll abandon the requirement to take one of the Legendary Games Gothic Heroes Pregens. If you want to switch out, I will completely understand.
And as for NinjaDM's Runelords Gestalt game, thanks! It's always nice to hear when something goes right. He's actually thinking of letting me take it over. We'll see.
Gestalt is quite powerful, but some interesting heroic characters can result. Two of my most fun characters are only possible under Gestalt.

So anyway, I want to know what you all think. Shall I recruit right now? Or wait until the end of the Harrowstone adventure? Show me your hands!

Male Half-Orc Paladin (Undead Scourge)/4;HP 43/43; AC 19 T 11 FF 17; Fort +9; Ref +5 Will +8; CMB +6; CMD 18; Per +1; Init +1; Spd 20ft.

We've come this far. I say finish it out before recruiting.

I'm getting really, really sick of the discussion thread not showing new posts for me. It's growing tiresome.

So, I know I haven't been so great at posting here. The reasons are multiple - I had a huge breakdown about a month ago as a result of domestic tension between my mother and my stepfather, and things have been rough at home since. I'm trying to get out with my fiance, but we don't have the financial stability to do so. I started a new job, and haven't had as much free time. And, quite simply, I just don't feel this character, so it's hard to motivate myself.

Entirely my fault, and I feel pretty bad about it. And, quite simply, I don't know what to do. I have no idea whether I'd want to continue slogging on after re-recruitment, or step down and let someone else have my spot. Given my abominable posting history here, I'm inclined towards the latter, but that just makes me feel worse.

What? Is no one going to go help the girl?

Off to Paizocon! Back Monday-Tuesday.

Is everybody alright? If there is some confusion I could post a recap.

Male Elf Bard (Detective)/4;HP 34/34; AC 17 T 12 FF 15; Fort +2; Ref +7 Will +4; CMB +3; CMD 16; Per +11; Init +3; Spd 30ft.

Hey, sometimes the good guys don't win. We rolled crappy on our saves and looks like we face a nasty BBEG at half strength. No cleric to channel positive has hurt.

Human (Tia.) Alchemist L1 | AC15 | hp 25/10 | Percep +5

Remember, Xiuj gave you all two potions of Cure Light Wounds (for 1d8+4) back in the torture chamber, after you all took one to heal with then. I'm sure I mentioned it.

Male Elf Bard (Detective)/4;HP 34/34; AC 17 T 12 FF 15; Fort +2; Ref +7 Will +4; CMB +3; CMD 16; Per +11; Init +3; Spd 30ft.

Yes, we just didn't have the time to drink them after the last encounter.

Ereviss still has his wand of CLW too.

Post 1456, I said Ereviss was able to use his healing wand three times.
This was clumsily stated, and I think it got lost in the scramble, but I meant there were three rounds that people could heal in or take potions/wands etc. before the Splatter Man crashed your party.

Male Elf Bard (Detective)/4;HP 34/34; AC 17 T 12 FF 15; Fort +2; Ref +7 Will +4; CMB +3; CMD 16; Per +11; Init +3; Spd 30ft.

CLW: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (8, 1) + 2 = 11
Ereviss would have given his potions to Kendra and Agrimar and healed himself with his wand, and yes I did miss that.
Kendra potion: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Agrimar potion: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Male Half-Orc Paladin (Undead Scourge)/4;HP 43/43; AC 19 T 11 FF 17; Fort +9; Ref +5 Will +8; CMB +6; CMD 18; Per +1; Init +1; Spd 20ft.

-3 + 14 from Ysabot and +12 from Ereviss brings me back to 23hp?

Yes indeed.
Also, the whole team knows from past experience that a nonmagical weapon attacking an incorporeal target is just going to pass through without effect.
Unless someone has a special ability, like a smite active or whatever those inquisitors do.

Congratulations survivors! You have gained Level Four!

Needless to say, this is the conclusion of the Haunting of Harrowstone.
There remains only the denouement. You can step through it as normal, posting/detailing your actions regarding your companions, Vesorianna and the townsfolk before starting your journey to Leipstadt and Chapter Two.
Or, if you like, I can just narrate it.

The Discussion continues HERE in Chapter Two: Trial of the Beast.
