I find the whole Pregen credit rules very confusing. I believe you can apply the credit to the character when we are done, but any Boons would need to wait until your character actually reaches 3rd level before you can use them, (basically it's like they are not there until 3rd level).
I'll look at them again though to double check.
DM Beckett

Okay, scratch that.
After the Adventure
After you finish a scenario, you need to record your
character’s exploits and track her advancement, the
wealth she gained, any items purchased or sold, and the
Prestige Points she gained. When the scenario ends (or
you run out of time), your Game Master will give you
that scenario’s Chronicle sheet. This record allows
you to keep an accurate accounting of your character’s
ongoing advancements.
If you play a 1st-level pregenerated character, you
can apply the credit to a newly created character of
your very own. If you play a non-1st-level pregenerated
character, you choose one of your characters to assign
the chronicle to at the end of adventure, and then apply
the credit to your character as soon as she reaches the
level of the pregenerated character played. You may not
assign a Chronicle sheet earned with a pregenerated
character to a character that was already at the level
of the pregenerated character or higher. If you have
multiple Chronicle sheets from pregenerated characters,
they are applied to your character’s Chronicle sheet
stack in the order played when your character reaches
the appropriate level, even if this would advance your
character several levels.
You may also opt instead to apply the Chronicle sheets
earned with a non-1st-level pregenerated character to a
1st-level character with the amount of gp gained reduced,
and any character specific boons earned must wait to be
utilized until the character is of the same level as the
subtier on the Chronicle sheet unless otherwise noted. You
do not lose access to any of the Prestige Points, or items
listed on the Chronicle sheets that were earned during the
adventure, but you do forego downtime.
So, you can apply it to a new 1st level character with reduced GP or you can assign it to a 3nd or 3rd level character, but it will not kick in, (at all) until they reach level 4, and suddenly applies in full.

Ok, the game is reported and HERE are Chronicle Sheets.
Please let me know if there are any issues or I need to make any changes.
Please, also feel free to let me know what you thought, good or bad. I apologize for the length. I didn't anticipate that and I do not like keeping characters locked into a game for so long.

Everything looks good on mine.
As for the scenario, I wasn't a huge fan. I felt like there were some big holes in the story and some missing answers. Some of the Occult stuff seemed forced down our throat with little explanation as to how it even works. Not blaming you, as you did the best you could with it.
I was also disappointed with the roleplay by some of the players as there didn't even feel like an attempt was made by some. I'm gonna link to a post made by Trotter that I think sums up my approach to PbP as well and maybe some people could benefit from reading. Sorry If I come across as salty.

I forgot, I did add the Ritual of Stardust Holiday Boon in incase anyone has not received it. As long as you played during the timeframe of the Boon, you can apply it to any character, (not just the one that received it). You can only do so once, so if you already have it, this one is no good, but, still.
I've removed Seinaru from the thread as well, as he or she did not wish to continue playing. That leaves us with 5 players, and so as to not repeat the Subtier issue as before, will be going off of whatever one your APL falls in.
Please let me know when you are ready to begin. I'm rereading the scenario now, which takes place a month or so after part 1, and prepping maps.
If you plan to swap characters, please let me know. Similarly, if you leveled up, just give me a head's up.
Also, two people will be busy for a little while, so I can wait a bit, too.
DM Beckett
|
I'd also like to point out I partially agree with Jorah's point. Not pointing any fingers, and I'm also considering all games I've run recently, not just this one, but it does make it difficult to run and enjoy when people do not put much effort into posting or contributing.
There where a few posts I had no idea what the person was trying to do, or what they meant, or even sure if they where posting in the right game.
What I'd like to happen is for everyone to read this and for everyone to try to put in a little more effort all around. What I do NOT want to happen is for anyone to read this and think I am speaking about them specifically, or even think I don't want to run for or play with them.
Jorah

I'm ready whenever and I'll be playing with Jorah again. At worst I'll be unavailable for 3 days while I transition back to the states but I doubt it will even be that long.
Victoria Hennessee

Jorah-4
Pregen-4
Andruss-3
Erick-3?
Victoria-7 or Wembly-5
I am thinking Wembly will be a better fit for this group since we were a bit melee light last time and better for tier3-4, if no objections.
Andruss Delsine
|
I have to update Andruss' sheet, but he is still level 3.
Jorah
|
Over the next few days I start to get ready to redeploy back to the states. My internet gets shut off tomorrow and my phone on Friday so after that I will be out of action until I get home Monday or Tuesday. Feel free to bot me if needed.
Andruss Delsine
|
Well, Andruss is still level 3, but more rich now.
Just bought a wand of magic missile with 2 PP.
Ready to start! =)
DM Beckett
|
Once your character is up to date and ready, feel free to jump into the Game thread.
Two (Grundar and Jorah) will be out for a bit, but can catch up. Otherwise, if you are ready, we can start. I posted the intro a week ago. :P

@DM Beckett, it is just it is just to organize my memory:
DM Beckett
|
@DM Beckett, I'll use the 'Blessing of Malikeen' boon, when the moment arrive.
Ok. Now, next question is are you using it on yourself or your Familiar?
"It will be a pleasure to help you, and mainly, fix that... little mistake of the past. Stay calm, we will come back with the truth to free your heart. The Sovereign Court promises it to you, through my words", he comforts her with a friendly smile, "and maybe in the end, we can drink some wine and you can talk to me about the beauty of your homeland, and I can tell the beauties of the Sovereign Court", Andruss kisses her hand before stand up.
Noted. :P
EDIT: Andruss will attune with the Ley Line.
Andruss and Jorah are automatically attuned already. Unfortunately, the same trick does not seem to work any longer here, so the others simply can not get it to work this time. Perhaps you needed the candle, or perhaps there was some sort of resonance or deeper understanding from Venture-Captain Bakten that allowed it the first time, but whatever the case is now, further attunement simply does not work. It was a special reward only for part 1, but it does carry over to part 2 if you have that boon. Part 2 does specifically say that new characters can not attune themselves in this scenario, though. :(
He will make a purchase of 8 scrolls of endure elements and a suit of cold weather gear and some climbing pitons and extra rope.
(8+1+200gp)"Whiskers and I are ready."
Keep in mind that you where each just given a Cold Weather Outfit each (including for pets). It's only good for now, but you can save you money right now, too. Just in case. Secondarily, some of the party will already have access to Endure Elements via the previous chronicle. It may also be better to simply go out and buy a Wand of it, as even at CL 1, it's still 24 hour protection, and it is a pretty common challenge in PFS. Is this still the plan?
@DM Beckett, it is just it is just to organize my memory:
That's mostly correct, but there is, if I recall, one bit of evidence you did not discover that may make this a little bit more clear.
DM Beckett
|
Probably missing it in the text above but how many days are we expecting the trip to take and of those do we know if only a portion of those will be extreme cold? If only a few days of cold, wembly sticks with his scroll plan. If a week or more he will purchase wand or apply to party for assistance.., .
I'm going to say the travel time here is irrelevant, as it doesn't really spell it out that I can recall, and really the danger just begins around this time. You do have opportunity to make purchases before leaving, as well as swap out spells, though, but not really to know what exactly you may need until you get here, outside of it's cold, and it's in the mountains near a place called the Black Grave Tower. How long you will be there, that really depends on your actions and choices. Being it's a pretty general raid/dungeon exploration, shouldn't be too long.
DM Beckett
|
Also, I was looking earlier. What is Whiskers? That is, what sort of form (or picture) should I use? Right now I have a large cat up, as I assumed, based on the stats, what you where going for, but I couldn't really find it for certain.
Wembly Templeton
|
Sorry, Whisker's is Wembly's eidolon. In the form of a green planar cat. I have an image of him separate or mounted on the cat.
Andruss Delsine
|
After all, Wembly will buy the wand or the scrolls?
Wembly Templeton
|
Wembly will stick with the scrolls as he does not have 750 for the wand and does not want to spend PP at this time.
Wembly Templeton
|
@GM - no worries here - that is real life and needs more attention than we do. Good luck. :)
DM Beckett
|
Sorry everyone. I'm mostly done with all the RL issues here, but for the last week and a half or so, I have not been able to get on to Paizo boards at all, (I'm assuming its the sale that's been going on). Both the Forums and the My Campaigns where just blank, and I couldn't load any threads (or even see them). It looks like it's finally fixed, so I wanted to make sure I got on here and posted at least this. I've not been able to post in any game for a while now, and I'm trying right now to go back and catch back up on things. Sorry. There was really nothing I could do that I know of. Hopefully within the next hour or so I should have a new post up and the game going.
Jorah
|
I leave tomorrow on an 8 day cruise and refuse to spend $18 per day for internet. There's a chance I may get service at some of our ports but I really don't know. Feel free to bot me if needed. I think I've run Jorah in enough of your games that you should have an idea what he does.
Andruss Delsine
|
Happy Easter!!!
Aw yeah, happy easter to everybody! =)
DM Beckett
|
Yes, I've just been having a lot of trouble getting online or time to post. I apologize to all.
After finishing this up, I'm probably going to take a break from GMing until I'm back in the states, as I hate it when games take this long. Typically a scenario should take 1-2 months, but not being able to post daily is preventing that, and I know that people probably want to get their characters into other games.
DM Beckett
|
I've reported the game and right now I'm finishing up on the Chronicle Sheets.
Did anyone have a Day Job Roll or anything for Downtime?
DM Beckett
|
If not, HERE is a link to the Chronicle Sheets. Please let me know if there are any issues and I should be able to fix it pretty quickly.
DM Beckett
|
Personally speaking, I was really not impressed with either of those. While I wouldn't say I hated them, I just didn't really find them all that memorable or interesting either.
I had to constantly be rereading things, or looking all over for information which just did not seem that well organized.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Wembly Templeton
|
They seem like they had potential for good story and flow. But without seeing the text it likely suffers from the common issue of trying to pack too much info without a convincing way to deliver it to the party.
Overall I liked it...and thanks for running, GM. Thanks for pushing thru the network issues while on assignment. Much appreciated.
Jorah
|
It seemed like it was probably a really interesting and complex story but it was difficult to get all the information across to the characters. I had the feeling they were trying to force some of the occult themes in to it but having not read through that book it was a bit lost on me.
On a side note, what exactly is that boon about? Like I said, I don't know much of the occult stuff so no idea if that's a cool boon or not.

And this:
"With Jujanil’s destruction, you have stemmed a rising tide of evil in Tian Xia. As you descend from the pinnacle, they see the storm clouds parting, and hear the triumphant hooting of yetis from the nearby peaks. Sharaheen accompanies you to Amanandar, vowing to help them organize Bakten’s biographies for delivery to the Lantern Lodge. She apologizes again for Bakten’s manipulations, and reassures them that she intends to spend this lifetime repairing the damage in Ayajinbo and Dallo. Finally, she bequeaths Bakten’s former home, the Sanctuary of the Unbound Knot, to the Pathfinder Society, recommending that they consider it as a potential site for a future Pathfinder Lodge."
Could be considered for this:
"Complete a mission (by completing both the primary and secondary success conditions) tied directly to enhancing or preserving the reputation of the Pathfinder Society in the eyes of another nation or organization."
?
If not, here is my day job check:

So... Jujanil was Bakten, after all?
Yes. I thought I had explained that out of character earlier. Jujanil was one of the past lives of "Bakten". If you look at the timeline Bakten gave you in part one (Page 2 on the map), you have a list of all of Bakten's past lives, but between the years 6750-6963 (approx. 300 years ago), there is a blank spot. (I'm not exactly clear how Jujanil reincarnated into Malikeen without actually dying, (she did become Undead), but continued to exist so I don't think hat counts for reincarnating.
Jujanil had been the past life between Malash (who united the Elven Clans from part 1) and Malikeen (who built the dam that was destroyed in part 1). Jujanil was evil. During that life time, she mentally dominated Lord Mata Ryuu and stole him away from his then lover Lady Ishigo Shiori. You also discovered from the journals you just found that Jujanil had been attempting to become a Lich, but failed, and instead cursed herself to be a penanggalen, and "eastern vampire". During this time, she somehow managed to erase her existence from history and even memory. It's not really explained how this happened, but not even her other existences (Bakten, Sharaheen, etc. . .) knew about her.
Lady Ishigo Shiori had believed that Malikeen had stolen Lord Mata Ryuu's affections from her. (Again, she had lost all memory of Jujanil). When Malikeen died, he or she was reincarnated into Bakten, and Lady Ishigo Shiori wanted revenge. In the beginning of part 1, it was her who sent the assassins to kill Bakten in that very first encounter. Bakten, who had been nearing his final death, had requested you come to participate in his final revelations, but as he was being psychically attacked by Jujanil, he instead began to manipulate you into disrupting his karma in an attempt to get one more shot at fixing things. With the destruction of two of his past life's achievements, (the Elven Clans at war and the Dam destroyed), his Karma did become unbalanced enough that he was able to reincarnate one last time (as Jujanil) and find out who it was that killed him, (Jujanil).
Lady Ishigo Shiori, far too late, began to piece together some evidence suggesting that there was an unknown past life involved, and it was not actually Malikeen or Bakten who had wronged her, but someone else, and likely someone else that not even Bakten or Malikeen had been aware of. She asked you to look into it as a form of penance for her misplaced hatred of Bakten before, but not aware he had reincarnated.
What little she was able to piece together suggested that some part of Bakten (not the individual Bakten, but rather all of the past lives together as a whole), still existed, somehow in secret, and was hidden in the Black Tower. For your part, you where mainly looking for Bakten's killer, who you saw a glimpse of when she murdered him in a mental dual while you where still connected to him via the Candle's magic. The scenario isn't clear, but I believe it was meant to imply that if Sharaheen (or Bakten) died and gone on to their final revelation (or judgment), Jujanil's existence as a being of true and utter evil would have damned them permanently, even if they didn't know she existed.
I agree, they did focus far, far too much on Occult Material, and many times to the point that even though I have the book, I don't really get it or it's relevance, and I'm not sure that the writer did either as much as just wanted to insert it because it's the new shiny.
Could be considered for this:
"Complete a mission (by completing both the primary and secondary success conditions) tied directly to enhancing or preserving the reputation of the Pathfinder Society in the eyes of another nation or organization."
Absolutely. The entire scenario is actually about trying to fix Bakten's reputation in a sense.
I'll have your updated Chronicle Sheet up soon, too. IT will be at the same location, just redownload it, but I'll let you know when it's ready to go.

On a side note, what exactly is that boon about? Like I said, I don't know much of the occult stuff so no idea if that's a cool boon or not.
It's very confusing even to me who does have the book. So, the way I believe I works is that if you are NOT A Medium, you get a one use the Séance and Spirit Ability from the Medium Class. It takes 1 hour to do the Seance, in which you call on one of the following Spirits, which also grant you and your team (must have Int 3 or higher to benefit) a small bonus for 24hours.
* Spirits of the Past: You can channel the spirit of one of Sharaheen’s past lives. If you do not have medium class levels, you can cross this boon of the Chronicle sheet to use the medium’s shared seance ability for a legend of your choice.
Archmage: Your damaging spells deal an additional 2 points of damage of the same type that they would normally deal to each target.
Champion: You gain a +2 bonus on all non-spell damage rolls.
Guardian: You gain a +1 bonus to CMD.
Hierophant: Your healing spells and abilities heal an additional 2 points of damage to each target. This does not affect healing conferred by magic items, nor does it add to fast healing or similar effects.
Marshal: Choose a seance boon from any of the other legends to benefit from. When using the shared seance class feature, each participant can choose a different boon.
Trickster: Choose one skill when you gain this seance boon. You gain a +1 bonus on skill checks using that skill, and that skill counts as a class skill for you.
So, lets say you want to use this Boon. YOu mark it off, pick one of the Legends, (lets say Guardian), and then spend an hour with the other players doing a séance. For the next 24 hours, all members that participated get a +1 bonus to CMD. After that, the Boon is gone.
IF YOU ARE A Medium, you instead get to pick one of these options as one you can always use (normally they are limited by location), and can also get a one time bonus of +1 for 24hours.
