A foul omen looms in the sky over the scoundrel city of Riddleport, an ominous shadow that defies the light. Is it a curse laid millennia ago by forgotten mages? Does it forewarn against the return of some terrible foe? Or does it portend a terrible

Kel keeps scrambling to the road as Bruendor directs, hoping to get to a place where she has more freedom of movement.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I had a hell of a weekend, had to fire someone while we were in Seattle, then had to spend all day yesterday doing damage control. Posting should resume as normal now

SHaking its head and stumbling about, the hippogriff moves towards you, crashing through the underbrush. Its tenaciousness was costly. As it came, it was overwhelmed by a combination of magic, arrows, and hand held steel. As the beast crashed to the ground, Lefrik muttered "Magnificent beasts, darn shame."

On the side of the road, you can see that the young hippogriff was indeed killed by a blade, likely the shortsword lying in the dirt beside the second body. It was once human, but the damage it endured rendered it all but unrecognizable.

With that eulogy done, the Goblin scuttles over to the human corpse and gives it a look-over, scowling angrily. "Who were you, and why did you do such a stupid thing?" he mutters as he investigates the corpse.

Anklebiter finds a small pouch with a handful of coins, some twine, and a dagger in the man's boot. Other than that, there is no indication of the man's identity.

Actually, I don't think I was hit at all during the hippogriff fight.

"I'm sure they're here, Kel," Bruendor says as they walk. "Though setting beasts like that on us is a bit out of the sort of ambush I'd expect from him. He's more likely just to have goons ambush us. I suspect that the man we saw was one of his who attacked the baby for whatever reason - greed, most likely, probably wanted to sell it back in Riddleport - and the parents took exception. Pity we had to kill them. Magnificent creatures, really."

Bruendor jumped back as centipedes as long as a man burst from the foliage. "Torag's tits! They breed them big here!" He fires a bolt from his crossbow at the lead centipede,

Calla's arrow glanced from the carapace of the centipede in front of her. It did cause the creature to shift and expose is softer underbelly to Bruendor, though. The dwarf's shot flew true, slamming into the beast just beneath its head area. It thrashed on the ground, wild gyrations sending clouds of dead leaves and debris flying in all directions.

The other centipedes didn't hesitate in their quest for fresh food. Two of them headed straight for Lefrik, a mistake their primitive brains couldn't possible comprehend. The barbarian deflected their strikes with ease. Another moved in on Anklebiter. It's mandibles clamped firmly on the magical shield around hte goblin's leg, but failed to penetrate the barrrier. Bruendor, however, wasn't so fortunate. Still trying to reload his cross bow after the last shot, he was caught off guard and poisonous mandibles tore through his left leg. The damage wasn't too bad, but he could feel the poison coursing in his veins.
