DM do you rule that you can demoralise undead with an intimidate check? Worth checking for my Dazzling Display.

Scarab Sages

Super busy weekend will update the round tomorrow morning. Sorry for the delay to much to do + extra busy at work.

But... I cast Daze? I would have said so and rolled my intimidate check if I was dazz displaying.

Though I suppose this answers my question as to whether you rule you can demoralise Undead with Dazzling Display...

Edit: To be fair, the bit in OOC where I specified my action was to cast Daze wasn't there, I had trouble posting that day due to shoddy internet.

Scarab Sages

Yep your IC was a little confusing and then I read your OOC and thought that was what you were taking about (Dazzling Display) when you said threatening with the whip.

DO you wish to have me change that to Aedalis casting the Daze spell? Or do you wish to keep the shaken effect? Will give you 24 hours to decide - but note having a creature shaken before you cast an spell like that gives them a -2 to their save roll.

Silver Crusade

F. Castor,

You may be planning to do this already, but I think that if Isandril delays moving up till Jonagher takes his shot, he won't have the -4 penalty for shooting a missile weapon into melee.

HP 39/30, AC- 11 (15 MA) T- 11 FF- 10 (14MA), CMD- 12, F +6, R +4, W +7, P +7, In +5

I was asking because I needed to know anyway in OOC, when I mentioned threatening I was simply reminding you I have reach. I'll stick with the Dazzling Display as its a better move anyway, just didn't want to hold things up so opted for Daze pre-query.

Scarab Sages

Since the holiday is around the corner I'm hoping to end this round tonight.

Heading to work now if Yuuwa and Byrnmor get a chance to go then great. If not enough time just list an action here and I will make your rolls and such for you.

Just wish to have it so everyone can post sometime during this busy weekend.

Yuuwa makes a five-foot step north, defends herself from the Ghoul's spiritual weapon, and sends another healing burst to wash away that horrendous wave of pain. She attempts to draw MotherGhoul's attention to her. [b]"Gozreh is my guide and protector! I'll not become one of yours!"[b]

Happy Thanksgiving, to all of you who'll be celebrating it!

Hi everyone, sorry for the absence. We had a real @#$%storm at work these last few days. Happy Thanksgiving and I will be back on board tomorrow morning.

:)

Silver Crusade

Yuuwa, I think that your arc just threatened a critical. :-)

I don't think Crits apply to spells or special domain abilities. I could be wrong. Its been known to happen on rare occasions.

Sovereign Court

It has an attack roll thus it can crit.

I am back after a weekend of offline. Did anyone miss me? No? [pout] Let's start playing in the sandbox again. No throwing stuff please.

Silver Crusade

Welcome back! I think that we're waiting to see the results of searching the room (and the bodies). That's why I haven't posted more for Origen, anyway.

Scarab Sages

I'm waiting on responds from my spoilers and do we wish to do an auto search from here on out.

Mother Thrunefang has noticeable jewelry on her that might be worth some cash back in civilized lands and it might be magical.

If you like to set up an SOP for after combat that is fine it would help to move things a long a bit.

And also and the big one - Hate to say it but there is nothing left to fight here in the caves. You all pretty much drew the ghouls out and took care of them. So would you like a large post of exploring (along with the whole map posted up) and ending up in this dungeons main chamber?? So we can move on to a little RP from there?

The Exchange

F Human Cleric/ 3

If you are offering a fictional synopsis, GMTSG, then I'll accept. OOC: I'd always wonder what we missed, besides the satisfaction of leaving no stoned unturned. IC: Yuuwa would only go so far as making sure no ghouls remained, then figuring a way out alive, in that order. No concern over finding or leaving treasure. She will not defile any shrine and will prevent same for reasons not yet spoke.

SOP:I can only speak for Yuuwa.
1) She would do a heal check on everyone (PC/NPC/enemy in that order) while on this disease-ridden, poison flora/fauna-infested island regardless of HP total. ["woulda/shoulda/coulda" Meta but not always for RP]
2) Followup conferring with the bard regarding religion/locale checks.
She is insecure regarding religion knowledge, and obsessive re:Geography and of history of same. The rest: meh. I try to RP this but I may forget.
3) There is more but it ain't combat related.

Silver Crusade

Ah, you're waiting for Brynmor and Aedelis' reveals. Okay.

I'm happy with this for the most part, but Origen would also check for any items, especially (1) stuff of archeological significance; (2) captives/bodies of captives/evidence of ship's crew and their fate; and (3) items useful for surviving.

And if it's an evil god's shrine, Origen's okay with defiling it. If it's a shrine to Anghazan, demon lord of apes, Origen will defile it regardless of Yuuwa's objections. :-)

My proposed SOP would be:

(1) pick up any unbroken arrows and dropped items from the combat (all PCs except lookout, who will trade off with another PC to do this);

(2) check PC conditions and (optionally) heal (Yuuwa);

(3) check bodies for loot/unusual characteristics/plot points (no take 20 unless we indicate it);

(4) check room for unusual features/chests/doors (not relevant here)/traps (no take 20 unless we indicate it); and

(5) keep a watch on the entrance(s) during (1)-(4).

I think that we should have at least one character with good Perception doing (5) throughout to avoid nasty surprises. Origen would be happy carrying out (1), (3), (4), or (5); Jonagher seems like a natural choice for (3) and possibly (4), though.

Given that Brynmor got his spoiler last Wednesday, I think that he's either not sharing immediately too or is busy in RL. Either way, I move for the explore-the-caves synopsis.

HP 39/30, AC- 11 (15 MA) T- 11 FF- 10 (14MA), CMD- 12, F +6, R +4, W +7, P +7, In +5

Aedalis is very much the new kid on the block and for a while, will be quite passive out of combat. Hes more likely to display Alpha tendencies when in combat.

Agreed, explore caves carefully then emerge.

Scarab Sages

I will remember to roll checks to help speed things along when needed. The check I was asking for was not only for your searching the temple, but also a way for me to know when everyone has checked in and is ready for me to advance the thread.

Which I will know do tomorrow night regardless.

Yep, RL kept me pretty busy... Sorry everyone. I will read carefully what went on and I will be able to post during the weekend.

Silver Crusade

Anyone want to try Perception for the other potions? I suspect that they're potions of cure light wounds, but it'd be nice to know for sure.

HP 39/30, AC- 11 (15 MA) T- 11 FF- 10 (14MA), CMD- 12, F +6, R +4, W +7, P +7, In +5

Aedalis' perception is awful. Anything left to spellcraft?

Silver Crusade

The first set of potions (faint conjuration, DC 16) and the skull necklace (faint abjuration, DC 20).

HP 39/30, AC- 11 (15 MA) T- 11 FF- 10 (14MA), CMD- 12, F +6, R +4, W +7, P +7, In +5

Posting rolls here for convenience.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 Necklace

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 Potions

Silver Crusade

Very nice. Thanks, AK.

Does anyone want the ring of swimming? I was thinking that it should go to someone with heavier armor (e.g., Brynmor) to counterbalance the armor penalty. Alternatively, it could go to someone with absolutely no swimming skill to make them less inept (e.g., Origen or, probably, Aedalis).

I don't care that much either way, though.

If the skull is an amulet of natural armor +1 (my best guess based on the magical aura), I say give it to a front-line fighter of some sort. Origen's going to try very hard to avoid situations where a bonus to natural armor would be applicable. :-)

The Exchange

F Human Cleric/ 3

Good idea about posting the potion perception here. Was trying to RP the potion percep without bogging thread down.
Yuuwa would also try a couple: Perception#11d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13; Perception#21d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 or all if no one else spends the time:
Perception#31d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15;Perception#41d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9;Perception#51d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7;Perception#61d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Quite frankly, IC Yuuwa is lusting after the ring of swimming, she is a bit conflicted about expressing it... Any decent perception check over 10 would pick that up. I'll RP that. But I agree, it should go to whoever would suffer the most if they take a fall into water.

On the subject, how are you planning to do loot splits once we're back in civilisation?

My personal preference is total wealth divisible by character number to get each person's "share" and then make claims out of it- if you claim an item you deduct its sale price (so half its value) from your share and you take it. Anything not claimed is assumed to be sold. Obviously this also assumes that we let the cleric take the + wisdom item etc. and don't dispute obvious choices but if there are multiple claimants on an item they can just roll-off for it.

For now though, I will say I have no interest in the Ring of Swimming. Amulet of Natural armour piques my interest but i'm not a 'priority' for it so not fussed if someone more front-line wants it.

Male Human

I do not mind how we handle loot shares quite frankly, so any way is fine with me. :-)

As for the ring of swimming, not interested really.

Silver Crusade

Ah, if Yuuwa really wants the ring, I say go for it.

As for treasure division, I am fine either with a more informal, "rough equity" division or the more detailed method that AK proposes.

But I'd suggest that consumable discovered "party items" like healing and restoration potions be owned jointly and divided up for carrying purposes rather than coming out of shares.

The Exchange

Is it too late for swearing upon the Pirate's Code?

I concur.

In regards for the more permament items, I concur. For an obvious or singular PC benefit, it should still be paid out of his/her share, ie +wisdom for cleric still has to deduct her share from treasure. If someone is developing a RP subplot, an IC roll-off is fine EVEN if would make META-sense otherwise. Happens in RealLife all the time...

A wee bit off-topic:
Having played with DM and Players who belong in the Horror threads, I keep in mind that this is a game. My ego and id are not reflective on how many virtual toys my imaginary avatar has for this current campaign under the 2nd GM.

I would argue potions are by nature a 'personal' use item and should come out of someone's share. But i'm happy to be outvoted on that, won't be a big deal for me.

But an item like a wand of healing etc. could simply be exempt from the loot split entirely, as well as other items at our discretion. Something like a scroll of haste for example or the aforementioned wand, although perhaps not a potion.

We've used this system for over a year in my KM pbp and its worked very well for us.

Silver Crusade

Well, I'll agree with you for most consumable items. If Origen's going to look cool using his new wand of colorful evisceration, I'm fine with him paying for the coolness out of his treasure share.

But I'd personally rather have curative/restorative wands, potions, and scrolls (e.g., remove curse) be held by individual PCs as agents of the party as a whole, then used for party benefit on the first PCs who need them.

Silver Crusade

Conveniently, I'm now done with my law school finals, so I hope to have more time to post. So, Lost Gamer--are you waiting on us for something, or are you just busy?

I think that we're waiting for the results of the other items and the inspection of the door. At least Origen is.

After that, depending on what we find, we'll set a watch for the night. I propose 2 - 2 - 2, with a caster and a non-caster in each watch (e.g., Isandril/Aedalis; Brynmor/Yuuwa; Jonagher/Origen).

The Exchange

I've ckecked his DMTSL posts and alias as well. There is a sudden halt across the board from him. I hope everything is OK on the homefront.

Hi everyone. My dissertation proposal draft is finally done, and I am done travelling so I have time once again for some RP if you would have me.

I am sorry for not informing people in advance, but things got really really crazy.

I understand that we are missing our DM too?

Yes, no word from Lost Gamer for over a week. I hope that all is okay.

Silver Crusade

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

The Exchange

Thank you and I hope your Christmas is merry. And Santa brings you lots of gifts, you find yourself under the mistletoe with a loved one. That would apply to all of you. I'd like to convert my fog cloud to a snow shower right about now.

Male Human

Merry Christmas everyone and to all a happy new year... in about a week! HO. HO. HO.

The Exchange

Wait for it...I got rain then snow today! And tonight it is glazing over nicely. Think I'll wait for the inevitable morning collisions to pass before I head out. Yes. A nice cup of joe, enjoy an early morning sunrise then hit the tailend of rush hour. Ya'll have a safe drive tomorrow.

Your Humble Narrator

Still no word?

The Exchange

All is quiet. 1) I hope all is well 2) If he is overwhelmed with DM task, a simple "bow out" msg would be the polite/mature thing to do, no hard feelings from me. 3)Once again I hope all is well.

Not sure how else to get ahold of him to ask.

Silver Crusade

Yes, I'd like a "bow out" email too, if that's what's happening.

Silver Crusade

So, what next, comrades? Try to recruit a new GM?

Male Human

Well, I would not mind it if we could find one, but preferably a dependable one. After all, this would be the fourth GM, I believe? Although I have only played with two of the three previous ones, I have to admit that each time I do get a little bit more disheartened frankly...
