Yeah, I have noticed that, Eric. Thanks for the link all the same though. What I really want to see though is the Bladebound. Heh, even the archetype's name sounds tasty. :-D
You're welcome! Sorry that it's incomplete, but maybe they'll put up more stuff in the next few days. And if not, the 18th isn't too far away.

By the way, Curn_Bounder, you might also want to check out the bardic masterpieces in Ultimate Magic. The masterpiece Triple Time gives an hour-long 10' boost to movement speed for one person/level in return for only one round of bardic performance. It's even a percussion-based ability!

...Good stuff...
F. Castor, I was merely mocking myself. My proof that you are enjoying yourself is your continued participation in this game. That is all the proof I need. It is different in an in-person setting, where obligations may keep people coming, but you have no such obligations here. The thing that keeps you coming back is an interest here...though that could also be a sick fascination...like watching a train-wreck. ;-) I appreciate y'all...I really do.
Given Origen's distrust of his abberant abilities, his tendency would be to blow higher-level spell slots on touch spells just to avoid using his tentacles to reach.
So, to avoid this, I was thinking that for spells with an original range of touch, Origen would still have to reveal his abberrant limbs in casting. He might try to pretend that it's part of the spell, but I don't see that working for long. Do you think that this would be too quick of a reveal?
Alternatively, he could take another feat like Toughness, Extend Spell, or Additional Traits (+2 initiative, +2 concentration) and leave Reach Spell for a higher level. He probably won't use this feat much till at least 4th level anyway.
If any other players have an opinion about this plot thread, I'd be interested in your comments.
Hrm...well. The rate of reveal is really up to you. I don't think it is too early...but it also depends on how you pass it off. If you play it as Origen being really nonchalant about it...I see the other characters feeding off that an not really being all that surprised. If you play it as Origen is just as surprised and horrified as anyone else would be. See examples below.
example 1: Evil minion walks into the room.
Origen: tentacles whip out and hag-slaps a death spell on this boot licker...
Group: ?!WHAT?!
Origen: Meh...happens all the time. We moving on?
Group: Uh, sure. Yeah. Good Idea.
example 2: Evil minion walks into the room.
Origen: tentacles whip out and hag-slaps a death spell on this boot licker...
Group: ?!WHAT?!
Origen: Tentacles! Oh Gods! Get them off! What is happening to me!?!
Group: Damn this island. Are we all cursed? Did you catch some disease? <Investigation to follow>

Who is done leveling?
Yuuwa - done
F. Castor - done
Origen - done
Torden - still level 1?
Jonagher - done
Isandril - done
Noted above. I've taken Improved Feint as Jonagher's 3rd level feat. As long as he can pull off a decent Bluff check (reasonable, as a rogue), he should be able to setup his own sneak attacks on a few opponents. Considering he just reached +2d6 on his sneak attack, that could be a big deal.
In terms of skills, I advanced several of the ones he already has, but added Craft (traps), Sense Motive, and Survival based on all his experiences on the island so far.

They have indeed. They added all of the Magus class, archetypes included. Also, they put up the various sorcerer stuff included in Ultimate Magic in case you are interested, as well as the feats included in the book.
Still waiting for the 18th to get the pretty book though, albeit in PDF form. :-D

Bladebound lets you run Elric of Melnibone, though I'd hope that your sword would be less of a jerk. If my magus's blackblade sucked a cohort's soul "accidentally," it'd be sent off to the foundry and re-purposed as horseshoes.
I thought that cross-blooded looked interesting, but the delay in getting upper-level spells is a very stiff cost. Some of the wild-blooded options also looked good, but I didn't like the one for the Abberrant bloodline.

F. Castor |

Well, as far as I can tell, a magus' black blade is much more cooperative than Elric's Stormbringer, not to mention that it shares its wielder's alignment (plus Stormbringer

![]() |

Well, as far as I can tell, a magus' black blade . . . shares its wielder's alignment . . . . Thus, I am thinking conflicts between wielder and weapon will not be happening too often, which would not be the case if it were any other intelligent magic item, e.g. one found during an adventure or in a treasure pile. Those are the naughty ones I should think. :-P
Yes, having the same alignment would help. Though it might have its own problems . . . .
LG magus looks at priestess of Calistra as she walks by in the street.
LG magus: "I know her--we saved her from that vampire last month. But I didn't realize how pretty she was. Maybe I should introduce myself."
LG blackblade: "Remember, master, the need for self-mastery. If you can't manage yourself, you'll have trouble influencing the world for good. A priestess of Calistra will probably not be interested in a long-term, committed relationship. Why don't you talk to that nice Iomedean girl in the town watch?"
LG magus: "The one that smelled of mutton?" [sighs]
LG blackblade: "Not having a nose, I couldn't say."
LG magus looks at new tunic.
LG magus: "Hmmm, expensive. The merchant said that it's lined with giant spider's silk. [feels material] Wow, it's really soft! Maybe I should get it."
LG blackblade: "Master, is that really the best use of your money? We're saving up for a ring of protection, and it's been a while since we gave any money to the church. I think that Sarenrae's orphanage is collecting money for a new roof. Remember, the gods give us everything, so returning a tithe is the least that we can do."
LG magus: [mutters to self] "I wonder if that priestess would think that I look good in this?"
LG blackblade: [mutters to self] "Mammals. Gods be thanked that I'm a sword."

Eric--saw your post. Not gonna take it now, but I will look into it.
No worries. Skill Focus (Percussion) seems like a perfect fit for Torden. He's even been practicing since the PCs landed.
But don't forget to update your level in the profile part--it's still listing you as 1st.

As good as the Hurricane there is, there is another bar in the French Quarter that is over by the New Orleans Cooking School, I will try to remember the name...has the best Hurricane I have ever had. Pat O's are good, and the original, but the other place is better.
Nothing like breakfast and a hurricane.
I take it you are not staying in the french quarter then?

Okay, you've piqued my curiosity. Let me know if you remember the name of the place.
I take it you are not staying in the french quarter then?
Actually, I'm at Hotel Monteleone, which I think is in the French Quarter after all.

DM Berwick |

That was where I stayed. Nice hotel. Lots of history. That was supposedly where the govenor (Huey Long) kept his mistreses. Go up to the top floor and check out the pool and what not.
That place is really close to you acutally.
Leave the hotel, and head for the police department. It is right around there. Ask the doorman for the best place to get breakfast. I think it is the same place.
When you walk into the place, it has a big bar there, so if you go somewhere and it has no bar, that's not it. I will talk with my family when they get up and try to wrack their brains for information.
This is so funny. What a small world.
If you are into that kind of thing, see if you can make it to the aquarium down there on the waterfront. It is a really cool one.

It is kinda like a clubhouse mentality. You see the same players/Judges, but everyone is generally playing one-shot adventures that may or may not be consecutively played. Your PC is formally registered and can just as formally be registered dead, please try again with another PC. The curious thing is, and I may be wrong, but if the players are already familiar with said adventure (played before but with different PC) the PC does not get "credit/experience" for it but still can formally die. The Player is there to support the team or to get his fix of RPG. ;-)
I like it, especially with my uncooperative schedule. If I am a no show, the game goes on regardless, no story-arc is affected, and my PFS PC does not fall behind the others as there is no need for continuity.
What the PFS does for me is allow me to jump into any PFS game without feeling like an outsider barging in on a tightly-knit group. Its more like bar-hopping and always finding couple of friends saving you a seat ahead of time. And that, my friend, is pretty darn cool.

. . . The subplot stuff can be fun but is much more devious to play IC and accidently ruin the others subplots cause they can't divulge super secret missions.
Hmmm, I would think that full disclosure of the faction objectives in exchange for mutual collaboration would be the optimal strategy. Except for Cheliax, of course, or Taldor (for the Quadirans).

Did some digging.
I am pretty sure that this is the place, but I could be wrong.

Good luck, and have fun.
Tried it today for lunch. I agree that the Hurricane is better there. Thanks for the recommendation.
Back in California now, but it was a fun trip.

I am up in Colorado.
Ah, that's right. Now I remember you mentioning this before.
Right, back to reality--and cannibals.
By the way, DM Berwick, I'm thinking about rebuilding Origen's L3 a little, maybe by giving him touch of gracelessness instead of protection from evil and possibly by switching a skill point into Knowledge (Geography). I'm still not sure about it, but would that be okay?

Neil Spicer Contributor, RPG Superstar 2009, RPG Superstar Judgernaut |

FYI...I'll be headed to PaizoCon tomorrow. I'll be checking in as I can via the hotel's internet, but I'm likely to be a bit more spotty than usual in posting. There'll be lots going on, both during the day and the evenings. Hopefully, I've set the tone for our assault on the cannibal camp. If you need to move the action along, feel free to NPC Jonagher as needed. You should have everything you need to know about him in his profile.

DM Berwick |

First things first, Eric, go ahead. You haven't used any of these that would require a retcon, so no worries.
Also, Niel, as you will probably have a lot to do up there, I will wait till you get back. I suppose I can pause for the coolest convention of the year...in my eyes anyway.
The team can take this time to plan anyway.
Thank you all for bringing your awesome to this digital table,
As always,
DM Berwick

Thanks. I'll probably keep protection from evil because (i) it was mentioned in the thread before I saw your post and (ii) it'll be more helpful for Jonagher. But I'll look at the skills again.

F. Castor |

Hey there. Thanks for asking Eric. Yeah, I am fine, I even managed to post in the IC thread.
Eyes are fine, no discomfort, though still a bit of dryness. Vision is 20/20 (yay, have been wearing glasses for 20 years more or less, so this is a rather big thing for me). I still have a few days or more until my sight is entirely clear, but even now -about a week after the laser bombardment- it is very clear indeed. The computer is still making me a little tired, but I can definitely use it now. :-)

OK. My posting has been a wee bit slow also, cuz I have been attending Michicon.

Looks at schedule, which probably won't allow me to go to a con till 2014. Or maybe 2024. :-P
Hmmph, those grapes were probably sour anyhow. . . .
But seriously, that sounds fun. Congrats on winning the door prize.

I'll be on a mini-vacation this weekend with the family. I think that we have internet connectivity, but feel free to act for Origen if he doesn't post in the evening.
We'll probably be waiting for Jonagher to scout for a bit anyway.
Origen's understanding of the debate with Yuuwa is that we'll attack obvious warriors, but take reasonable efforts to avoid harm to those less dangerous or culpable (e.g., kids and prisoners). To be honest, I think that we'll be too busy trying not to get grabbed to worry about whether a target is a combatant: It seems like a combantant-rich environment.

DM Berwick |

No no, I am here. I have been struggling with how to execute this...err...(bad choice of words), trying to account for the possibilities....had to develop a flow chart. Though, with the way you guys fight...you will probably steamroll over the encounter before I have a chance to exercise more of the...intriguing...encounter possibilities...you guys are strong combatants.
I will post more tonight. I will be doing some behind the scenes work around noon, but will continue with as much as I can before I get home.
