Welcome one and all.
I skipped to the next day because there's really nothing to do and the book reveals that you find out nothing anyway, so I thought that would be okey.

DM Aron Marczylo |

Aron, I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you again for running this AP for us. You're doing a great job with the flow and the personalities, and doing very well keeping the action flowing. I know it is a lot of work, so thanks!
Thanks, much appriciated :) I've also been converting various nasties in these advantures. Some in like part 5 are far too over powered but the guys on d20pfsrd have been helping me with the conversions so that players don't get killed by monsters with ridiclously over-powered abilities. Trust me, some of those monsters would've caused TPK and they're not even the boss!

DM Aron Marczylo |

I'll put this to a vote if you want to use Harrow Points or just continue the adventure without bothering the use of Harrow Points. If you go with them this is how I will propose we go about it:
The way I decided this to make it simple is you all gain a Harrow Point a day. So far have been a few and here are the following ways to use them:
Constitution Rerolls: Spend a Harrow Point to reroll any one Fortitude saving throw, Concentration check, or other Constitution-based d20 roll. You must abide by the new result (although if you have additional Harrow Points remaining, you can use them to attempt additional rerolls).
Fast Hit Point Recovery: Spend a Harrow Point after resting for a minute to catch your breath and recover from your recent ordeals—you heal a number of hit points equal to your class level and 1 point of ability damage (but not ability drain) each time you do so. You may spend a Harrow Point in this manner once after each encounter.
Damage Reduction: Spend a Harrow Point to gain damage reduction 3/—. This damage reduction persists for the duration of the encounter in which you spent the Harrow Point.

DM Aron Marczylo |

I'd be willing to give them a try. Is there any downside to them?
the only downside I see is that if you don't save your harrow points then you won't have any when you really need them.

Vanulf Wulfson |

Just an FYI,
I'm going to be out of town on vacation this week from Tuesday through Saturday and in the interest of Domestic Tranquility I won't be brining my laptop with me.
I will have my phone with me and can follow the thread but won't be able to post much, if at all.
So feel free to DMPC my character as necessary.
Thanks,
V

DM Aron Marczylo |

lol I admit that did confuse me too at first look. Anyway as I said on MSN hopes he has a good time and

DM Aron Marczylo |

I assume Krenn moves into the room by 5ft so not to cause an AoO from the Dire Rat nearby?

Krenn Weststone |
Krenn was going to wait until his next turn to step in, but he asked Curnach about the entangle spell because he wasn't familiar with it and to tip his hand to the team about what he intended to do so they could prepare or protest.
By the way, I just posted Rauno Redpath for your consideration for the Carrion Crown PbP you're looking at kicking off. I know you are going mainly off concept and story, but if it helps any, I am in other games with Scranford and Javell and both have been strong and reliable players in those games.

Arianna Rothschild |

Hit points: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
FC bonus: +1 spells known (Silent Image)
Skills: +2 Perform (keyboard), +1 Knowledge (planes), +1 Perception, +1 Perform (dance & sing), +1 Spellcraft, +1 Stealth
Feat: Dazzling Display (bladed scarf)
Spells: Silent Image, Pyrotechnics

DM Aron Marczylo |

I'd agree, Toughness would be good for you, but I like weapon specialisation as it is always awesome for fighters.

markofbane |

Well, if I did take toughness at this level, it would be in place of Combat Reflexes. And I'm looking at that feat to eventually go to Stand Still, allowing me to block foes trying to make their way past Krenn to the squishier party members. Maybe I'll focus his gold purchases on increasing his AC, with the old adage "if they can't hit ya, they can't hurt ya."

Jerin |

Jerin just doesn't feel that squishy with 5 images and a 20AC dammit! LOL's
5the level hmmm...:
+1 lvl Wizard-Enchanter
+4+1con+1fc=+6HP's
+8 Skill Points +1 for headband - escape artist
+1 fly
+1 Knowledge Arcana
+1 Knowledge Dungeoneering
+1 Knowledge Nature
+1 Knowledge Planes
+1 Perception
+1 Spellcraft
Feats:
Wizard bonus: Extend Spell
Spell Penetration
Spells:
Deep Slumber
Summon Monster III

Ok, this is worth pointing out.
Using Guidance and taking 10, Curnach now auto-passes the DC25 heal check to add his wisdom modifier to HP healed when using Treat Deadly Wounds.
Thats 11HP healed on a mundane heal check. Try not to waste wand charges or spell slots, its mugh higher than the average CLW anyway.

Arianna Rothschild |

Drat yer Arianna, I asked if anyone was taking anything days ago and u posted after me! No it was not taken into account because my accounting predates Arianna's request. *grumbles*. Arianna remember the rapier is mithril. Arianna's take out of the group loot comes to 3 gold pieces over her share, so Arianna's share is pure items- Arianna just deduct 3GP from your own funds and everyone else is ok.
Alex, look directly under your post asking if anyone wants any of the loot, there you'll see my reply about 40 minutes after yours.

DM Aron Marczylo |

I assume you're all waiting for the the next day or still doing some shopping first?

those dice rolls were hidious. I made 2 DC 19 saves with a creature with only +2 will. Not to mention the damage Krenn took.

Bloatmage Initiate [General Feat]
Using elaborate rituals and gruesome rites, you increase the amount of blood and lymph your body produces in an attempt to increase your body’s natural reserves of magical potential. Practitioners of this hideous type of magic are known as bloatmages.
Prerequisites: Spell Focus (any school)
Benefit: When you gain this feat, you learn the ancient secrets of hemotheurgy. By subjecting your body to various rituals, imbibing strange elixirs, and focusing your mind, you dramatically increase your body’s production of lymph and blood and form a magical bond between these fluids and your spellcasting powers. Pick one school of magic you possess the Spell Focus feat in—you cast spells from this school of magic at +1 caster level.
Unfortunately, hemotheurgy’s benefits do not come without a price. Your increased girth leaves you constantly under the effects of a medium load—your maximum bonus to Armor Class from Dexterity is +3, you gain an armor check penalty of –3, and your speed decreases as appropriate (generally from 30 feet to 20 feet for a Medium creature). Bloatmages who delve deeper into this fringe variant of magic eventually have to use external regulation of their blood (traditionally via the use of dozens of leeches) to avoid dangerous and deadly side effects.

DM Aron Marczylo wrote:** spoiler omitted **You notice that Jerin starts to gain a lot of weight...eventually becoming so fat that he pays a group of 4 men to carry him around so he doesn't have to bother with walking anymore...lol's
yeah not a very good feat, huh? there are some interesting feats that appear in this AP though.

DM Aron Marczylo |

That's what I love about magic items in these campaigns. Even thought these items are specific to the AP, they can be used in anyone's homebrewed campaign too.

DM Aron Marczylo |

Just want to say I have been reading your AP (just started Part 2!) and am loving every minute of it.
I gotta ask though: Where did your 5th player go? 0_0
Didn't you have 5? I think I missed something somewhere...
we've had a few characters drop here and there. The 5th one you're refering to might be the inqisitor or another cleric of Calistra (can't remember to be honest) and he got a little pissed off when the group thought he was being overly harsh by jumping down after Trinia and channelling negative energy into her, clearly not wanting to believe she could be innocent or is subject to due processing.
I assume who you're on about. A few we had falling out with and some others just dissapeared without a trace.

Oh I didnt remember which of em was the last one to leave, I just could have sworn you had someone replace the inquisitor and then that person vanish.
Curnach is hilarious btw. Unintentionally I know, but still hilarious.

(Me and Aron are friends IRL)
And yes... we've had some problems with followers of Calistria...
Well stop picking them up them GAWD :P Is not that hard folks.
Can't wait to see what happens next :3

Nah I think I was thinking about it, but everyone was fine with just the 4 of them and it meant I didn't have the alter the treasure or encounters too.
And yeah I find him so damn funny at times, which I blame on his Charisma, but eitherway I like all the PCs and am curious about what might happen against some of the later NPCs and monsters.
Excited but don't want to spoil it unless the danger should be forwarded using a cryptic message from zellara and there is atleast one creature that the group will need forewarning.
Creature from the ToH3 book, Demilich.
Power:
A demilich can trap the souls of up to eight living creatures per day. To use this power, it selects any target within 300 feet. The target is allowed a DC 24 Fortitude save to resist the effect. If the target makes its saving throw, it gains three negative levels, and the demilich does not lose that use of trap the soul for the day. If the target fails its save, the soul of the target is drawn from its body and trapped within one of the gems in the demilich’s skull. The gem gleams for 24 hours, indicating the captive soul within. A soulless body collapses in a mass of corruption and molders in a single round, reduced to dust. If left to its own devices, the demilich slowly devours the soul over 24 hours—at the end of that time the soul is completely absorbed, and the victim is forever gone. If the demilich is overcome before the soul is eaten, crushing the gem releases the soul, after which time it is free to seek the afterlife or be returned to its body by the use of resurrection, true resurrection, clone, or miracle. The save DC is Charimsa-based.
As you can see from the details of that ability, it's very nasty. Body is destroyed and can only be brought back through true ressurection. This appears in part 5 so the group will be powerful and they will have the chance to gain a ghoust-touch weapon or armour or even wear silver shoanti paint which gives bonuses to death effects and if the will save fails the paint goes, but no ill effects transfer to the wearer.
It specificaly says in the book to have caution with this creature and for it to be a good idea for it to simply remove souls and not destroy the bodies or give the players a good forewarning, which you can see why.

I have no worries though, the group has so far come across every obsticale so far and steamrolled over it. Making big bad villains become weeping toddlers. :p
