Malthir Al Dagon
My apologies. Work and school conspired against me ;)
Yelena slowly backs up the way she came, then relates what she observed to the other party members. "I traveled approximately ninety feet into the tunnel. It eventually leads into a smaller room, with a bedroll in the corner of the room and signs that something has been living there clearly visible. There are two makeshift wooden cages in the room, both crudely covered by a tent sheet that obscures whatever the cages are holding. I could see a single humanoid foot poking out from under the canvas in one of the tents. I spotted no other exits from the room. There seems to be no obvious threat, so I believe the entire party can enter freely."
RETCON: That doesn't mean there isn't still some type of threat in the room or a secret chamber within the cave that you didn't notice. I still say we go in prepared for the worst with Yelena and Fenna casting any longer lasting defensive spells such as mage armor or shield of faith.. That's what Mathir would have said if it is worth anything.
Round 1 Action
Move action to draw sunrod, standard action to stike on the ground.
Can anyone tell me what is out there and what in the nine hells is going on here? Malthir hopes that whatever magics are at work for the light and darkness will cancel each other out allowing normal light to function.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne
There was no magical darkness, the light on your shield was dispelled or put out somehow.
Malthir's sunrod reveals an empty room, with a dead undead creature standing before Kalev's gore-drenched longspear. You all doubt the undead creature was the source of the chuckling however...
Everyone can now be considered part of the darkvision club- go back and read the spoiler (map link is there).

Guardians, block the cave exit, if this creature is invisible, then we must not let it escape!

I'm on it! It shall not escape. See retconned post on previous page.
Kalev Lehola
Kalev savours his triumph for a brief moment, before springing towards the cage. There was someone who pulled this lever, he yells, stabbing out into apparently thin air.
Round 1 Action
Kalev moves to x,y
Kalev makes 1 attack with Power Attack.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 64
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Shaman Tartuk aka DM AK
To keep things moving and because if thers any foe left i'll put Yelena on a delay for now.
Kalev moves forward and stabs viciously into thin air. The malevolent chuckle returns, and with it speech- a voice most of the group recognise...
Ruined my fun, didn't you, you filthy Tuskie... You stay put for now, i'll play with you later... the shaman's voice calls out tauntingly from somewhere else in the room.
Ri... Ka... Sha... Hem...
Tartuk is intoning magical words to invoke a hideous laughter spell...
Kalev's Will Save-1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Failure.
Kalev falls to the ground in helpless, hysterical mirth, falling victim to a well known enchantment. The shuffling of feet as Tartuk moves somewhere else in the room can be heard, but is partially muffled by the sound of Die! Die, die, die! from a Raven that materialises in front of Fenna's eyes, pecking at her twice in quick succession with speed augmented by magic.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16Take 1 non-lethal damage.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16Take 1 non-lethal damage.
I will permit one perception roll from every player per round at the start of their initiative to try and pinpoint Tartuk's location by ear. You can retcon it in if you like.
You are prone and cannot take actions for 7 rounds.
Fenna Thistleswade
Sorry, I've been traveling for the last six hours. I'll be away until Monday, but I should be able to get on once a day or so.
Fenna would have cast shield of faith on Malthir at his request.
Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Spellcraft 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
5' step so as to cast colour spray to catch only the raven.
move so as to cast colour spray to catch Tartuk (and the raven if possible), but none of the active partymembers (Kalev already seems indisposed, so if catching him allows both Tartuk and his familiar to be within the area, so be it.).
Edit: appear!

My first post isn't appearing, the results for the checks in that were 14 and 19 respectively.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne
I believe you, it said 2 new posts when I clicked but only one new post is here.
Just FYI you don't know where Tartuk is so you colour spray the poor raven ;). Will resolve that in a summary at the end of the round.
Note- Malthir's SoF was dispelled along with the light on his shield.
Fenna Thistleswade
Poor raven!?! Poor!?! The thing's got it in for me I tell you!
It's been a while since I've seen an invisible post, it'll probably pop up after a few more people post. They're still visible in the recent posts section of a profile, at any rate.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 Fail.
The raven squawks in fury as it is struck unconcious, blinded and stunned by Fenna's magic.
Round 2-
Malthir- 19
11- Kalev (indisposed...)
Tartuk and Raven- 9
Yelena- 9
Casimir- 8
Fenna- 5
Those straining to hear Tartuk's movements are struggling due to Kalev's incessant and constant laughter... But you can make perceptions rolls on your init count anyway.
Malthir's up.
Malthir Al Dagon
Round 2 Action
Malthir draws and drinks his potion of protection from evil.
Fenna, can you put a protection from evil on Kalev, it might help him against the enchantment that has hold of him?
perception 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
DM AK can we get an updated map? I am not really sure where everyone is at this moment. I might want to step 5' somewhere depending upon peoples and creatures locations. thx.
Casimir
Casimir stands shoulder to shoulder with Yelena, effectively blocking the exit from the cave.
Tartuk, you cowardly creep - show yourself! You are not getting out of this cave, invisible or not!
Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Shaman Tartuk aka DM AK
Casimir stands shoulder to shoulder with Yelena, effectively blocking the exit from the cave.
Tartuk, you cowardly creep - show yourself! You are not getting out of this cave, invisible or not!
Perception 1d20+5
That remains to be seen... comes a hissing reply from somewhere on the northern side of the cave, as seemingly responding to Casimir's taunts, Tartuk's form becomes visible, a vicious looking sickle in hand ready to strike and feet shuffling into position on the bedroll.
Casimir and Yelena, i'll let you retcon those actions if you wish, this is what happens when you post early ;) but its ok.
Tartuk has appeared in square D-10.

Well, since speaking and perception checks are free actions, I figured I'd go ahead and break initiative a bit. I'll wait and see what Yelena does, and react appropriately.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne
Slight DM cock up there, I meant -D -10 not D -10 as I posted. I'll have Yelena move and cast, and provide another map for everyones clarity.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Yelena moves and bathes the area Tartuk is standing in fire, and the kobold yelps in pain as he avoids some of the flame but not all of it. The bedroll he is standing on promptly catches fire...
You've made your will save vs illusion when interacting with it. This is not Tartuk, but an illusion, probably a minor image as sound is audible. You can communicate this information no earlier than at the start of your initiative next round.
Casimir and Fenna are still to act. Heres the map showing Tartuk's new position, sorry for the confusion :).
Casimir
Seeing Yelena burn the wily shaman, and Malthir standing ready with his sword to come and help her finish him off, Casimir stands firm, blocking the exit in case Tartuk tries to make a run for it.
Readied action to swing two-handed arcane strike power attack if Tartuk tries to pass. Maintain Inspire Courage
Fenna Thistleswade
Fenna looks across to the shaman's sudden appearance, a little puzzled about why he has chosen to reveal himself, but suppresses her concerns in favour of the wisdom of Malthir's advice.
Reaching Kalev's side, she reaches down to rest a hand on his shuddering shoulder, "please extend your divine protection to this newest champion of your cause, to bring the lost humanity back to this wild land." she offers in prayer. move to -A16 and cast Protection from Evil.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Kalev, did you know that on the secondary save you get +4 to your willpower save under the PF rules? +2 resistance, +2 morale. Not sure if 14 makes any difference, probably not, bu just keep it in mind for the next time.
Round 2 Action
Tartuk, I believe you are too crafty to just show yourself without reason and I now believe I know how you escaped us the first time. We have learned much from the fey and their illusions and trickery, lets see if my guess is correct and you have powers like them!
5' step to A12 coup de grace the raven - auto crit
EDIT: MW longsword pwr atk dam 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 dam 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 wow, never seen 2 1's in a row before, this might be a long combat...or a short one.
Hoping to draw his attack to me even if I am wrong, and even if I am wrong, at least he is without his extra eyes and ears!
Shaman Tartuk aka DM AK
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Note- It was a raven not a crow ;).
Malthir's sword is plunged through the raven, and it lets out one last squawk as it expires.
You will pay for your travesty with your life, manling! Tartuk hisses in fury as he appears beside Malthir, attacking him with a sickle twice in quick succession, his movements supernaturally fast. The image of Tartuk atop the bedroll fades away into nothingness, Tartuk's efforts at maintaining his illusion now gone.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Fort save please Malthir.
Malthir and Tartuk are proud to present the '1 for Damage' Golarion society. This hero and villain pair thought they had nothing in common- until one day...
Yelena Shukhov
Yelena peers at the mischievous kobold, only to realize the truth. "This is not Tartuk, but an illusion! It may not be able to hurt us, but discretion is advisable." She fires her crossbow at the illusive Tartuk.
Attack

Critical confirmation
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage
1d8 ⇒ 6
DM Alexander Kilcoyne
Yelena is firing into a melee for -4, so the shot does not confirm. 9 damage total.
Yelena fires a crossbow bolt that manages to pierce through all of Tartuk's defences and slams into the purple kobold's chest. Blood flows freely from the nasty wound. Grimacing in pain, Tartuk shoots Yelena a look of pure venom...
Malthir Al Dagon
I know my next action....Iomedae, grant me your boon to fight the evil that stands before me! activate smite evil on Tartuk
MW longsword smite pwr atk 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 11 + 1 = 31 dam 1d8 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 1 = 17 the only move I might make is to 5' step into the flank if Casmimir moves into hex -A11 otherwise I will stay where I am. EDIT: well, lets see if this finishes the longsword stike of death! MW longsword smite pwr atk 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 1 = 17 dam 1d8 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 1 = 14
Casimir
Now that the shaman has finally revealed his true position, Casimir hefts his sword in both hands and charges forward. Arcane energy crackles along the blade as he swings it with all his might at the purple kobold.
Now we have him. Guardians, strike true!
Charge to -A 11 and attack with two-handed arcane Strike Pwr att. AC is 15 until Casimirs next turn. Maintain IC
Attack roll 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 20
Damage roll 1d8 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 11
Shaman Tartuk aka DM AK
Tartuk takes the bolt to his chest, is struck by a charging Casimir moments later and then is brutally cut down by a massive overhand blow from Malthir. The purple kobold dies with an unbelieving gasp on his face as he breathes his last... And this time, his crumpled body remains for all to see.
600XP each for the Guardians. I still think MVP goes to Kalev despite spending most of the fight laughing continually- that Ghast was nasty combined with an enchanter...
Fenna Thistleswade
Fenna looks back over her shoulder at the crumpled body of Tartuk for a moment, then turns back to the covered cages to take a peek beneath the canvass.
"With luck, we are not too late to save Kern's companion..." she says hopefully, but with a worried look towards the remains of the undead creature.
Malthir Al Dagon
Malthir makes sure that Tartuk is completely dead with one more strike.
Malthir looks at the body of the fallen hunter, he says a few words of prayer over the body and then tries to bolster his friends,
Guardians, justice and honor are a heavy burden for the righteous. We carry this weight so that the weak may grow strong and the meek grow brave. Tartuk may have killed these innocents, but his death has freed not only the Sootscale Kobolds but possibly the people of the GreenBelt from his evil as it grew. We didn't save these men, but we did save others from this evil.
He asks Fenna for some healing and then suggests that we search out the cave thoroughly as well as Tartuk and his possessions. We should identify them as well as the unknown blue potion as soon as we get back to Oleg's.
Casimir
Casimir inspects the corpses of Tartuk and his familiar to make sure they are truely dead, the turns his attention to the items the search has uncovered.
Well, well....what have we here?

We should carry the bodies of these two hunters to the Temple of the Elk. They were both devout followers of Erastil, and Jhod will be able to make sure that they are laid to rest in the proper way.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne
I'm feeling generous- with Casimir's high roll and assuming a couple of assumed assists you identify the lot (none of it is anything too far out of the norm)-
Cloak of Resistance +1
+1 Cold Iron Sickle
Bracers of Armour +1
A wand of magic missile (CL3, 40 charges)
A journal (non-magical- written in a language only Fenna recognises; Aklo.)
The potion is CLW.
Malthir Al Dagon
Probably want to finish scouting this hex if we haven't already done so and then return the bodies to the temple. You guys want to rest there before heading back to Oleg's or continue to scout this area? Need to update the map tonight and post up the new map. Need to figure out how far we scouted. Will also get the new treasure sheet out for this haul. Fenna maybe you can tell us what the journal says after a couple of days of reading.
Kalev Lehola
Still chuckling, Kalev gets to his feet and walks over to look at the dead kobold. *chuckle* Sorry guys, I don't know what came over me. Perhaps it was the look of almost surprise on that undead beast's face when I felled it. Anyways, I think we've done a great service to the folk of the Greenbelt by ending this menace. A spellcaster able to call the dead back to semi-life is a frightening thing.
