Your Humble Narrator

Sarrah is up, Arianna may also act or can wait to act after the ghost does?

Female Human Varisian Oracle - Life - 2nd (FC)

Sarrah will begin to move back as fast as she can per my lay post.

Sarrah ran as hard as she could for a while before she stood there panting. Realizing the unnatural fear the ghost had put into her, she immediately begins to run back, afraid of what might have happened to her new friends.

Will be at least another round before she can get there and heal anyone, so you are all still pretty hurt.

Human (Varisian)

Continuing to delay until Sarrah returns and the ghost appears again.

Your Humble Narrator

Bit confused by your post Sarrah, as per the Map Sarrah is 20 feet from Arianna to the south and 30-35 feet from Quiddling and Stannislav on her action.

Sarrah double moved away for 3 rounds and then moved back one round (4), not sure of her position. If she can get to someone in round 4 she would heal them. Let me know.

Your Humble Narrator

This is round 4, I haven't moved you yet. Everyone in the group is within 35 feet of you and you haven't used any actions yet.

Female Human Varisian Oracle - Life - 2nd (FC)

Sarrah will double move so she is next to Arianna.

Your Humble Narrator

Note- the 'ghost' hasn't appeared since the surprise round.

Three more objects slowly hover out of the small storage room- another two crates and a half-rotten wooden chair. Like before, the three objects are hurled at Stannislav, each glancing off his armour.

Unless Arianna is taking an action at the end of the round (where we are now), i'll update to the next round with her on delay. Arianna?

Not a whole lot she can do without a visible target...continue to delay.

You continue to wait in the corridor, waiting for something to appear. Unfortunately, whatever is plaguing you apparently has no intention of revealing itself. Quiddling is just about to throw the glass vial when he's halted by Sarrah's words. "Is that really wise?", he asks the oracle and skitters after her.

Stannislav continues to stand resolutely blocking much of the corridor. Sarrah moves past him and channels energy to harm the undead.

For a moment you think Sarah's wave must have halted the assault, but a moment later, three more mundane objects (a small stepladder, a broken metal shelf and an ancient pair of grass cutters) are hurled mercilessly at her. She ducks the stepladder but is sent reeling by the shelf and is cut deeply by the rusty grass cutters as they fly past her.

Gah, not Quiddling's strong side :/ Maybe if i ask politely with a good diplomacy check it will tell us what it is and how to defeat it :)

Quiddling was just about to throw his spirit bomb but hesitates as Sarrah's wave of positive energy seems to have no effect. "We need to get back. We can't fight what we can't see", he calls out to the oracle while keeping a watchful eye out for identified flying objects.

Your Humble Narrator

Stannislav grimaces at the situation.

We should flee for now... he says, maintaining his defensive posture.

Your Humble Narrator

Bump. Sarrah is up, and Arianna if she comes off delay.

Female Human Varisian Oracle - Life - 2nd (FC)

Sarrah casts detect undead and then sweeps the area directly ahead of them.

M Human Paladin 2 (Undead Scourge)

Assuming no major change in situation, when he sees Sarrah casting and concentrating Stannis will move in front of Sarrah and maintain defensive stance.

Your Humble Narrator

Sarrah begins concentrating and senses the presence of Undead auras. Three more broken pieces of metal are pulled from the storage cupboard and hurled- all three objects at Sarrah. Two of them completely miss, while one of them bounces off Stannis' interposing armour.

Pleased that the tall paladin adviced a retreat Quiddling starts to move back towards the door, but his eyes widen in disbelief as the paladin moves past him towards the haunted room. "I thought that we should be on the retreat!" he calls out to his companions. "Your armor is quite strong and i have every faith that it will stop both drawers and buckets, but without means to defeat whomever's behind the attack i don't think we stand much of a chance. You can't tire it you know, it's allready dead!"

Your Humble Narrator

Sarrah continues to focus, and determines there is one Undead aura in the corridor, of moderate strength.

Stannislav continues his defensive stance as Sarrah concentrates. Three more crude objects are hurled at Sarrah but none find her an easy target.

"How can you tell?" Quiddling calls back to Sarrah, although curious and slightly optimistic that the tide of battle as turned in their favor he runs up next to the oracle. Trying his best he tries to make out a shape, a shadow or something that would hint on the ghosts location. "What do i do?", he asks Sarrah, desperate for some instruction.

Never take a Quiddling to a ghost fight... :)

Human (Varisian)

Arianna considers moving up an casting a spell, but just as she begins to move, Stannis moves in toward the supposed location of the apparition. Not wanting to burn the warrior, she waits to see the ghost's next move.

Your Humble Narrator

The Undead aura only visible to Sarrah does not seem to move, but a broken shelf, a dented bucket and a rusting pair of scissors are hurled at Stannislav- each dodged by the Paladin.

Your Humble Narrator

Sarrah finally recognises the signs- the sudden rush of fear, the thrown objects- she realises you are dealing with a poltergeist, a ghost tied to a specific location that cannot stray too far from it. Naturally invisible and with limited telekinetic powers, the poltergeist is difficult to truly destroy- even destroying its form is not enough, for it will return in a few days- and the method for each poltergeist's true death is unique, something different for each one. Once every minute, a poltergeist is able to reveal its true form for a moment, causing a wave of fear to pass over onlookers.

Arianna and Stannislav are up.

If i can't assist i'd like to just use total defence as before

Quiddling is unsure how to aid his companions in the battle but he feels he can't stand idly by when the oracle has pointed out where their assailant hides. He grabs a bucket close to hand and hurls it towards where Sarrah pointed hoping to knock their foe off balance. Unfortunetly the halfings atempt prove fruitless and the bucket slams harmlessly into the wall (or into Stannis).

Human (Varisian)

Question for you, the items that have been called "Spirit Bombs" are those actually the items described as Spirit Syphons?

Your Humble Narrator

Haunt Siphon:

Haunt Siphon

Aura faint necromancy; CL 3rd

Slot none; Price 400 gp; Weight 1 lb.

Description
These glass vials are held within stylized cold-iron casings
etched with strange runes, necromantic designs, or other
eldritch markings. Within the vial roils a small wisp of white
vapor, churning as if caught in a miniature vortex of air.
To capture a haunt’s energies within a haunt siphon, you need
only twist the metal casing to open the vial in the same round that
the haunt manifests (a standard action)—this can be before or
after the haunt has acted. You must be within the haunt’s area of
influence to use a haunt siphon. When you activate a haunt siphon,
it deals 3d6 points of positive energy damage to a single haunt.
If it deals enough damage to the haunt to reduce the haunt’s hit
points to 0, the mist inside the haunt siphon glows green—if it
does not reduce the haunt to 0 hit points, the haunt siphon is still
expended and becomes nonmagical. It may take multiple haunt
siphons to destroy powerful haunts. A haunt that is neutralized
by a haunt siphon takes a –5 penalty on its caster level check to
manifest again after its reset time passes.

A haunt siphon that neutralizes a haunt can no longer be used
to harm haunts, but it can be used as a grenadelike splash
weapon that deals 1d6 points of negative energy damage
with a direct hit. Every creature within 5 feet of the point
where the haunt siphon hits takes 1 point of negative
energy damage from the splash.

Construction
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, cure moderate
wounds, gentle repose; Cost 200 gp

So no use here... Holy water however, would be effective, although still subject to a miss chance.

Human (Varisian)

After rethinking her spell, Arianna opts to move forward, lobbing a flask of holy water into the area Sarrah designated...

Attack:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Damage:2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5
Miss?:1d100 ⇒ 70 01-50 misses

Your Humble Narrator

Arianna throws her holy water and something strange seems to happen. It passes through the area where Sarrah said the undead aura was coming from, but doesn't seem to shatter. Instead, the contents of the flask seem to disappear in mid air- leaving an empty flask that shatters against the wall near Stannislav.

Fluff aside, thats a hit...

Its ghostly form less substantial than before, the skeletal like humanoid reveals itself once more to the four of you- those who ran in fear the last time finding their legs shaking with unnatural dread once more...

Same deal as last time, DC14 will save VS fear to not be frightened for 1d4 rounds. If you passed the save last time, you don't need to roll and auto-pass.

After revealing itself, the ghost slowly fades back into nothingness, resuming its invisibility but not moving.

Quiddling is more confused than afraid. The first encounter with the malign spirit's visage steeled him, so the second had no effect. The brave paladin and the confident oracle turning to run didn't work wonders for his morale however. "Where are you going?", he calls out as Stannis and Sarrah comes running towards him. In desperation he fumbles in his pockets for one of the flasks of holy water then follows Arianna's and throws it at the poltergeist.

should we just admit defeat and try to walk around the poltergeist? We have the doors to the top right of S12 to explore, for example

Your Humble Narrator

Sarrah and Stannislav flee once more at the sight of the ghastly undead, leaving the dubious pair, Arianna and Quiddling. Both throw a vial of holy water at the last spot the Undead was in, but neither flask seems to find the undead, the water nevertheless splashing over the area and potentially harming the ghost. The ghost has made absolutely no sound yet, an eerily silent battle except for the screams and cries of Sarrah and Stannislav.

Shouldn't it be an improvised weapon? I might have mixed up the terms but i think i should have a -4 to throw it. Isn't there a feat that let's you throw stuff without the penalty?
