Alysha the Pale |

Momentarily closing her eyes so she can find an opportune moment, Alysha fires a ray of frost at Thessaly.
She shouts to the guards. "The murderer is getting away!"
Ray of Frost: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Reroll using Lucky: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3
Crit damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
She moves to put some bodies between her and Ragnar. Never wise to stand in front of a barbarian's axe... (Moves two squares up)

Ember Draymon |

Ember mouth falls open as she sees Jiro stab Beryl, but then she notes that Beryl seems to snap out of his stunned state, she steps up behind Skyreaver. "Hey, snap out of it, the spirits know we need you in this fight!" she says, taking her staff and rapping it hard on the disguised goliaths shoulder!

Adv: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Bludgeoning dmg: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
Miss? :(

Jiro the Unwilling |

Jiro watches the fiend fade away, "Oh for p- there goes our evidence! Well, you aren't going anywhere!" He then dances around a little, mumbles some weird arcane sounds muffled by his absurd dwarf mask, and then throws a few tiny (and incredibly stale) tarts and a small feather in the air... overall, making quite a ridiculous spectacle of himself.
Jiro casts Tasha's Hideous Laughter. Wisdom save DC 12 or fall prone, incapacitated with laughter.

Beryl Ironjoy |

With his current target ethereal, Beryl looks at the woman called Thessaly. Is it obvious that she just tried to cast a spell on Ragnar? If so, Beryl will attack her, but using the previous rolls, I think I missed.

Beryl Ironjoy |

Okay, Beryl will just 'pshaw, as if that would work' until he swings on us! ;) Being ethereal, is it obvious that our attacks would swish right through Davon? If not, I think it would make more sense that Beryl would still try to swing at him rather than Thessaly...

AL DM |

Jiro the Unwilling |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Jiro, seeing his spell turn out to be useless, looks at Thessaly and shrugs. "Guess I have to handle this the old fashioned way." He then moves over a little to be within 10 feet of Thessaly and promptly... falls to his knees and begs for his life!
"Pleasepleaseplease don't kill me!!! You and that fiend friend of yours are so powerful and incredible!! I'm so sorry for that spell! I just wanted to make you laugh!! You are wonderful!! Pleaseplease don't hurt me!! I don't want to diiiieeeeeeee!" and Jiro drops his head into his hands, sobbing.
Kobold "Grovel, Cower, and Beg" ability - all allies get advantage on attack rolls against enemies within 10 feet of me. So Alysha, Ragnar, and Scarlet, you all have advantage on those attacks you made. When it comes back around again, Ember and Beryl will have advantage next round. Don't know if the Red Plume Guards count as allies or not. *shrug*

AL DM |

Round 3, complete!
Before we start this post, I realize that I skipped Ember's post last time. An extra 8 damage dealt to Thessaly. Sorry!

Ragnar continues to rage and lash out at Thessaly with his trusty axe.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

"A mágikus rakéták repülnek!"" The orange energy continues to swirl around Ember's arm and gather into balls of fiery energy before shooting out to strike Thessaly!
Magic Missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 4, 4) + 3 = 15
M m m m Max Damage!! XD

AL DM |

Between the last of your attacks, you kill Thessaly, and as she dies her form changes from human to demon, revealing her for the succubus she is.
The guards, despite seeing her kiss drain life from Ragnar, still gasp in shock.
We need to get the seneschal! one guard exclaims.
You there! Stay put! he orders the party.
They order one of them to stay behind, and rush off.
Do you stay or flee?

Jiro the Unwilling |

"Don't forget that other one might be lurking about invisible or something." Then Jiro shrugs and talks a little quieter to the group, "Also, the only reason I'm here is because I was running from trouble. So running comes pretty natural to me... however, it did get me into more trouble this time, so it's a toss up for me."
Then he points to Skyreaver, "Besides, her mind seems pretty broken. I don't think a little stab (sorry, about that, by the way) is enough to bring her back."
And I have always enjoyed the idea of a kobold PC, but Volo's Guide (and that Grovel ability especially) are the first time kobold PC's had some really fun mechanics in my mind. I've read a lot of about people really disliking the race, but when I saw one of their main abilities is buffing the party by groveling and begging for mercy, I was sold. "You think kobolds are weak and pathetic... that is called strategy!"

Beryl Ironjoy |

Aye, sir, Beryl approaches the guard, Our friend needs a priest. Might we take her to the temple of Tempus and await ye there?
Charisma (Persuasion): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Anyone care to help and give me advantage? ;)

Ragnar the Grim |

Ragnar will heft Skyreaver over his shoulder and approach the guard and Beryl.
"The demon that was disguised as Davon did something to our friend's mind, we need a healer."
Taking the help action to give Beryl advantage

Alysha the Pale |

"She had an accomplice and he said he is going back for the lord! We need to get to him now!" Alysha says.
Deception: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Guess not. I'll cast Fog Cloud and we scatter?

Ember Draymon |

Ember hurries over to the fallen Thessaly/Succubus and pulls out some parchment, she starts making a few measurements and quickly scrawling some notes down while the others debate whether to run or stay...

AL DM |

Scarlet: there are no fiends nearby.
Three votes for run, one vote for undecided, two votes for something else. The runs have it.
The guard just stared at you with an "uh huh" look on his face. He's not buying your excuses.
Look, I know it's always scary when the Seneschal is around, but relax; you've done a service to Hillsfar. You'll be thanked, you'll see.
Do you actually run away, or do you wait?

Alysha the Pale |

"Oh really? And not be charged for murdering her succubus lover?" Alysha mutters.
Insight: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 (To see if the guard is lying)
If the others start running Alysha casts fog cloud and runs

Beryl Ironjoy |

Look! Beryl slaps Sky once or twice in frustration, to no response, There is something wrong with her! Bah!
EDIT: Beryl looks at the guard in frustration, What is it ye want? Money?
Beryl fishes a handful of gold from his pouch, Here take it, just let us take her to the temple!
Hand over 10 gp.

Ragnar the Grim |

Ragnar carefully lays Skyreaver down on the ground, then pulls out a potion. He keeps the potion in one hand and his battleaxe in the other, and stands waiting.

Scarlet Crysanthium |

"I fear our disguises will not stand up to physical contact, especially some of us" Scarlet speaks very quietly to whoever of her companions are closest and nods towards Skyreaver.
Running may be a better idea.

Alysha the Pale |

We've achieved one of the two goals yeah? Do we have evidence that the drow are manipulating the lord yet? Also, does everyone still look human?
"I think the guard might be speaking the truth," Alysha says.
She searches the body of Thessaly, trying to see if there might clues to her origin.

AL DM |

You have accomplished both goals, however, it's not the dark elves that are manipulating the First Lord - it's demons.
As for searching her body got clues, this was posted earlier:
Between the last of your attacks, you kill Thessaly, and as she dies her form changes from human to demon, revealing her for the succubus she is.
When Ember searched the body, she found the pearl handled silver dagger (can be kept as a trophy or sold for 150 gp), and 98 gp.

Hand over 10 gp.
The guard takes the gold and turns around. I must have lost you in the crowds, he says, half to you and half to himself.
You make your escape, and after a few minutes Skyreaver comes around. Once into the sewers, you're relatively safe again, and you make your way back to Isthana. She thanks you for the information, surprised it was demons and not dark elves.
She pays you the agreed upon amount and requests you stay close for future missions.
This is the official end of the module.
