The Wicked GM |
Welcome back Cal! Very glad to see you back. I will be re-joining as a player in the not-too-distant future.
It is Day 8 since the plague appeared, though I wasn't tracking the specific date.
Calcedon |
BrOP- So a whatever then? Cool. I'll do my best for a good character. I have a little more than 2000 worth of gear right now, so I've got a fair bit of shopping to do. My build is nearly finished though so you can all peruse that soon.
Hey Wicked, good to see you're still kickin' too. Thanks for the notice, but I'm not sure how much my Downtime stuff is actually going to affect anything in this game, and since it's a bit of a time sink, I'm probably going to handwave it a bit. It was really cool to see how the manor could be basically rebuilt, but I'm not sure I wanna drop 8 to 10 hours on it at least right now. If I find that my interest is renewed, I'll do some retroactive stuff and see where it all lines up, but for now, I won't worry about it.
LTB- Nice to meecha, I think our characters would get along pretty well, I like what you've done with him. I have read what you've done as well, and I'm looking forward to working with you too.
Now I've got a good handle on who I am yet, now all I need is to find out where I am and what I'm doing, so back to the research!

Sorry for the delay in posting, folks. Am in bed with a high fever.
GM BrOp CotCT |
And I'm back from the fever swamps. Thank you, everyone, for your patience.
GM BrOp CotCT |
I am away from my computer until next Tuesday and will be posting tersely from my phone. Don't take it personally, everyone.

Hi folks,
Thank you for bearing with my absence of late, but things have been very busy and will likely get busier.
I've already mentioned that I'll be moving very soon, so I thought I'd give you some updates.
First, I wanted to tell all of you that my family and I will be moving for work to the small island of Yap in the western Pacific this summer. Yap is part of a small atoll that is part of the Federated States of Micronesia, and is quite remote. The closest "mainland" are the Philippines and Papua New Guinea. FYI, careful Googling Yap at work, as the traditional dress there is NSFW.
To complicate things further, we're being forced to move out of our current home by the end of May (it was sold) and will be living with friends and relatives until we finally leave for Micronesia at the beginning of August.
What this means for the game is that my posting will be sparse between now (actually from a few weeks ago) and when we get ourselves established in Micronesia in August. I'm not exactly sure when in August because the work is handling the relocation and hasn't given us our tickets yet, and also because I don't know how long it will take me to get the internet up and running in Yap (although I'm glad to know there IS internet).
I'd like everyone to vote and let me know what you prefer we do with this game. The choices are:
A) "Yes, let's keep the game running with less frequent posting until August!"
B) "Nah, too frustrating, let's put the game on hold until August."
C) "Sorry, I've already lost interest as this doesn't work for me. Let's call it quits."
Feel free to chime in if you see other options or have other comments.
Thanks,
BrOp

Also, that sounds exciting! What kind of work will you be doing in Yap?
My wife will be working for the attorney general of Yap state. I still need to find a job, and am hoping for either a teaching position or working for an NGO there.
The Wicked GM |
Wow, what an adventure! I know what havoc a move can cause a game, and I only moved across a state line! Best wishes to you on this exciting new chapter. I'm certainly up for continuing this game at whatever pace works best.
Lord Talfryn Blackoak |
What an incredible destination, GM! Micronesia. You're in for one heck of an adventure - both in getting there and once you arrive. Kudos!
I'm fine with A. We've been moving at a very leisurely pace already, so I don't think it will change overmuch.
GM BrOp CotCT |
Today is the big moving day, the Day of the Truck. Wish me luck! My presence online should increase after today.
GM BrOp CotCT |
Thanks! Apologies once again for the absence. We've now arrived at our temporary home for the summer before we head overseas at the end of July.

So there's this guy in the interrogation room with the Gray Maidens, and he jumps to his feet and says "Okay, that's enough! I ain't answering anymore questions until I have my lawyer present!"
The two Gray Maidens look to each other, their helmets turning in unison, and then they say (voices muffled behind visors), "But, you are the lawyer!"
"Yea," says the guy, "so, where's my present?"
The Wicked GM |
So, any word from BrOp? Hopefully the move has gone well and he's just busy settling his family into a new home.

Roll Call!
Who is here and ready to proceed?
Are current hps in profile taglines accurate?
I'm not sure where BrOp was tracking combat data, so may need to take some liberties. Combat will continue in my roll20 game, linked in my own tagline.
Who's ready to kick ass and save Korvosa?
SubiculumHammer |
Hi All. Wicked GM invited me to join this game, and I am excited at the chance.
He wrote that we have an "urban barbarian, unchained rogue, shaman, wizard, and potentially a bard if he returns"
Do we yet know if the bard is returning? I'd like to pick something that doesn't step on the specialties of others in the party.

Welcome Sub! I've sent Calcedon a PM, but haven't heard back. It's unfortunate that he and I have both been set as "previous players", meaning the game is relegated to our "previous campaigns" and we don't see updates unless we click on the game down at the bottom of our campaign pages. I can't change that until I reacquire ownership of the game, which can take weeks. However, the fact that he hasn't responded to my PM suggests he's not checking the boards daily.
You should play something you enjoy :). Refer to the player's guide for inspiration.
The Wicked GM |
It appears we're missing Garvid and Calcedon, though Garvid has mentioned having time constraints. I'll wait another day in hopes he's able to pop in.
The Wicked GM |
The blindness from glitterdust spared you from quite a bit of damage, including a likely crit to Garvid. Buffs and debuffs definitely matter!
The Wicked GM |
Any reaction to or further conversation with Leah before we press forward through the eastern doors (assuming that's what we're doing)?
The Wicked GM |
I've also sent a PM to Garvid's player. I know they've had serious time constraints lately, but it's unlike them to straight up vanish for such a stretch of time.
In the unlikely event they're unable to return, it's possible Garvid may become an NPC (until their player is able to jump back in), in which case it would be advisable to recruit a new front liner for the group. I'll withhold any action on that for at least a couple of days to give time for a response. Just throwing it out as a possibility.
Leah Kynes |
Kynes initiative rolls are a bit different.
It is based on Intelligence modifier + he can add a 1d6 to the initiative roll if he has inspiration point left in his pool, but does not expend an inspiration point.
So for this (probable) encounter, his init will be: +5+1d6
Leah Kynes |
hmm. I think I didn't understand whether admixture vials cost a +2 spell level slot e.g. combining two level 1 extract would use a level 3 slot. If so, then that was 5k gold on something I can't use for two levels. :)
The Wicked GM |
Busy couple of days. I'll try to post tomorrow.
The Wicked GM |
It's been over three weeks since Garvid's player has posted in game, and they still haven't responded to my PM. As much as I hate to say it, it looks like it's time to convert him to an NPC.
Would you like me to recruit a player to take his place?
The Wicked GM |
Just want to note that Garvid took both hits, leaving him at 41 hp.
I will seek to recruit a new player today.
The Wicked GM |
Leah you can take that AoO before you succumb to the spell, if you want.
