Fondo checks the frogs for loot and finds some value there, though even Saul would hesitate to pay full price for the items in their current condition. You find a +4 hide shirt and a +1 spear on each of them (x6). The walls themselves also glow subtly magically (likely ancient inherent magics) and there seems to be something glowing to the north (north is always 'up' on the map) but you cannot see it through the silt and debris kicked up in the fight, but the party presses on...

The party leaves the main entry, passing through the western side-light (where there's a lovely half eaten crocodile floating in the water) and onto the next chamber which is of some interest.

This ancient square room is littered with pottery shards and fragments of rusted metal, which piled up in the southeastern portion of the chamber. The north and west walls are decorated with a large mosaic depicting a lynx on a dark background surrounded by floating globes of light.

You pass through this chamber (feel free to retro if you want) and through to the next. The walls and ceiling of this silt-floored chamber are crossed by hairline cracks. An archway in the south ceiling opens into a steeply angled shaft that leads upward.

You're an open book to the woman, Barry, and you'll likely never take up the practice of looks and words to conceal how you feel, not near like Brov does, so don't even bother. Barael raises an eyebrow while lowering the other, as the water nymph shushes then strengthens him. As her spell takes hold, he forgets why he was upset in the first place.

...

What's going on now?! You've been quite the active boy, and I'm only so trusting that you're not going to drown the both of us, so kindly find your way out of the water, Once Touched. Now.

Barael lets his eyes linger over the lynx, only for a little while, a renewed urgency comes over him to see his way up the shaft, and out into dryness once again.

Briar, though anxious to leave the water, wants to be sure no more of the Queen's minions lie in wait behind them.

Briar takes 10 Perception (34 total) as he swims through the lower floors. Briar examines the pottery shards, lynx, and surrounds for things of magical nature.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 Know (history)

After examining the contents of the square room, Briar will follow Barael down to the middle room, keeping an active eye for trouble in the silt...and trying to cajole a trustworthy sword to stand at Barael's side.

"Sward, might you find your sword pointing this way for a moment? Come now."

Male Human (Per +18 | Fort +12 Ref +16 Will +12 | AC 24 (f 19/t 17)| CMD 30/f 25)

Barael turns back, observing the elf's meticulousness coming to the fore, so slows himself down to search more thoroughly as well.

"Alright, last room look-see, sure. Now that we know where we're ascending, let's not linger too long." Barael retraces his swim through the narrow corridor, back to the kicked-up slit, and the north room not visited until Briar's call to investigate.

...

When the room is fully searched, Barael returns once again to the shaft, and flies/swims upwards.

Briar learns nothing new about the mosaic, or the rest of the complex, from his limited knowledge of history. He does know that whatever it is - it's very ancient indeed.

A fifteen foot diameter crystal globe hangs suspended between two square pillars in the middle room (where Fondo detected some magic leaking). The sphere is connected to these pillars by thousands of glittering crystalline filaments. A crystal tube extends up from the northern side of the sphere through a hole in the ceiling. Inside the sphere is a staggering amount of treasure - coins, gems, art objects, rolled-up tapestries, bars of precious metal, and more.

It is dry inside the crystal.

It looks like the collected wealth of Korvosa, plundered by the Queen. Korvosa's ruling families birthright. Wealth collected over centuries by the Kings and Queens of Korvosa preserved, until now, for the cities well being. Now collected and hoarded by the Queen for personal gain. There must be hundreds of thousands in wealth there.

Male Human (Per +18 | Fort +12 Ref +16 Will +12 | AC 24 (f 19/t 17)| CMD 30/f 25)

Barael estimates the wealth, and shakes his head in disbelief. That must have taken her forever to move all that. By herself? Did Togomor help her out? Or Sabina? And all of Korvosa none the wiser...

Barael looks to the others, eyebrows raised, before encouraging their return to the shaft.

"It's just gold and treasure. Nothing truly valuable..." Briar says, turning in disgust. "Sorry about that, Sward. I had hoped for another worthy foe for you to battle. Nevermind...let's go back..."

Briar, finding no magics of interest, swims back to the shaft, and waiting for the rest of the party to be ready to ascend.

When they hit air, Briar will string his bow and put away his longspear.

I hope it stays dry up here.

Briar will cross to and fro, climbing the air at an angle up the shaft as necessary.

Fondo laughs. "Our friends back in Korvosa shall rejoice to see the city's treasure safe. Let's focus on what brought us here." He searches for a route further up into the Sunken Queen.

Nikolay definitely thinks it's something more, but he cannot discern its original purpose. It was, at one time, full of something, but is now empty and is being used for this other unusual purpose. It is very pretty - all that wealth, hanging in mid-air like that. Very pretty...

- - -

The party swims up the shaft eventually reaching the level above - which is only flooded to your knees, more or less, in the first chamber. The floor continues to lean horribly (remember those of you without freedom of movement and/or flying must make DC 14 Acrobatics checks or you move at half due to the slope. Failure by 5 or more results in a slide to the east until you hit a wall for 1d6 damage).

There are hallways to the east and west. To the east lies water to your waist, but it seems to be clearer to the west. You do not hear anything.

Barael slogs through the water before making his ascent (how high Barael?), managing to be somewhat quiet though the party can certainly see and hear him. His keen senses pick up nothing beyond some water softly splashing here and there and the movement of the party.

A horizontal wooden platform has been built into the western portion of this chamber. On the platform are a large barrel and a large wooden trunk. Several big fillets of smoked, spiced fish hang from a row of pegs along the wooden platform’s edge. Inside the barrel you find some sort of cranberry liquor though it’s rather foul smelling. In the trunk you find more than 100 pounds of groundnut tubers and other swampy legumes.

To the south, you see another chamber. The west portion of the sloping flagstone floor of this chamber has been fitted with a crude horizontal wooden platform. On the platform are six filthy straw mats, leather bags, and fishing rods. The bags have nothing of value to you - though the shells and bits of swamp trash were likely of some value to their prior owners.

Dandi moves with the others, taking to the air when there is air to take to. She casts detect scrying as they go.

As Barael passes the middle chamber, he looks in (I presume). A crystal tube emerges from a dark hole in the floor up to the ceiling, where it splits into dozens of small tubes that wind along the walls and ceiling above until finally sinking into the stone, presumably burrowing upward to a level above.

As he moves to the end of the hall, he sees there is indeed a dry entrance to the Sunken Queen. (Presumably) poking his head outside, he sees the side of the structure. It seems to be some sort of permanent one-way illusion.

Passing around the corner, he sees the shaft leading upward. A soft, purplish light illuminates the northern part of this partially flooded chamber, where a large, square shaft opens in the ceiling.

But as he sees this, he falters in his step as Dandilion gasps in surprise.

There are scrying sensors all over the place. There is one over each of your heads (even Majenko). There are scrying sensors at various points in the rooms and walls. All watching you.

And more. The scryer is somewhere within 40' of you! You know the where the scryer is (on the floor above you).

Scryer CL: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (4) + 20 = 24
Dandilion CL: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24

You also get a visual of the person doing the scrying. Unfortunately that individual is encased in a cocoon of blood - so all you see is a roiling pool of blood, some clotted, but mostly free flowing. Occasionally you see what looks like long hair flowing in the blood, crusted and matted with congealing blood.

They are Female advanced Erinyes, LE Medium outsider (evil, extraplanar, lawful). They're advanced in an odd way, so they're more or less unique creatures. That said, your very high roll gets you two questions.

Fondo, can you explain 'flicks her back into her glove'? Did you not have the weapon out? If it's in the glove and being flicked back and forth, I think you can't have the weapon chain on to protect against disarm and teleport maneuvers by me. Not that I'd do anything like that. Nope, not me. Let me know what the state of your weapon is when you get a chance. Thanks!

The way I read flaming burst, you add the die, and you don't subtract anything - that's where that extra d6 is coming from. From the PRD:
"In addition to the extra fire damage from the flaming ability (see above), a flaming burst weapon deals an extra 1d10 points of fire damage on a successful critical hit"

I suppose it could be argued that the d6 is already represented in the original hit, but that makes a whole +1 for a 'burst' ability kinda weak so I'm leaving it as is I think. It's completely 'extra' damage. Happy to continue the conversation OOC though and anyone can join in - I've certainly been wrong before. :)

Not to add insult to injury, but their CMD is 39, so you do not get through. Sorry. You are at H17 having started your tumbling move and been stopped cold. I get an AoO and your disarm also does not succeed.

Dandilion prepares a little further (some of which was pre-round as per OOC discussion) and flies up to join the others.

F1 concentrates on Nikolay.

The furies grid madly as they attack, and attack, and attack again ripping flesh from your bodies through armor and spell. It is clear they are jockeying for position to attack Fondo and F4 in particular looks longingly at him from afar.

Briar starts with a massive critical and drops two of the furies - one in midair. Barael surprises many by his flying prowess and strikes at F1 hitting twice thanks in part to his invisibility. Fondo manages to stay standing, only just. Charlie flies around a little and eventually heals Fondo of all his ills. Nikolay hits a couple times and steps over to try and cover Fondo. Majenko casts haste on the party. Dandilion heals Nikolay.

The three furies (especially F5) look for ways to get to Fondo, but they are reigned in by some order or other. Frustrated and gnashing their teeth, they each step back 5’ and vanish!
