Venetia also charges the creature, "I will protect my king!" she shouts, activating her Weal's Champion.
Attack: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (16) + 18 = 34 Its flat footed, right?
Damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 I wish I had real smite evil right now, I don't bypass DR on a Weal's Champion, so that is 0 damage if I hit, but, if she is flat footed, I did hit, even if for 0 damage, and that is important because...

Weal's Champion wrote:
In addition, for 1 round after the holy tactician successfully strikes an evil creature, all non-evil allies within 30 feet of her gain a competence bonus on attack rolls equal to 1/2 her Charisma bonus against that creature as well as a +1 competence bonus on damage rolls. The bonus on damage rolls increases by +1 for every five levels the holy tactician attains (to a maximum of +5 at 20th level).

Assuming that the creature is flat footed, she also adds +1 competence bonus to attack rolls of her allies, and another 2 damage to each of her allies attacks, these are both competence bonuses however and will not stack with Inspire Courage.

For reference, if I had regular smite, I would have dealt 8 more damage and bypassed DR, so instead of 0 it would be 23 damage, but I need it to be flat footed to hit still.

Male Half-Elf Haunted Oracle of Life (Ancient Lorekeeper) 8/Hierophant 1

Janus glances from the demigod he now faces to his mourningstar he holds in his grip.

It's days like these when I wonder if smashing my own skull in would be worth it.

With a sign, Janus unleashes a powerful pulse of magic on his allies, twisting fate to favor them every so slightly more. His hopes are slightly brightened by the fact that Ni'Tir and Marius somehow managed to harm the dragon. However, he quickly recalls where his oath lies and quickly follows Szymon and King Rupert.

Janus' Prayer gets triggered. Every ally within 40 ft of him gets a +1 Luck bonus on attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saves, and skill checks. Normally, all enemies would get a -1 penalty to those same stats, but I couldn't beat this guy's SR on a natural 20.

As in the northern leyends Marius du'Caat charges against the huge linnorm, and is like the Hell's fury descends on the beast, as he manages to jump and impales the gargantuan blossom with his huge sword, making it take a step back. You all realize why his birth land is called the Land of the Linnorms Kings!
"Arggg! You will pay for that, Hellknight! "
The beast was grievously wounded, but doesn't seem weakened nor near dead at all! But what a hit! A high score!

Venetia launches herself against the Linnorm, but it is well aware of its enemies, so it barely manages to avoid being hit by her!

Sorry, it is not flat footed.

Even after Janus seemed cut out from his God grace he manages to somehow conjure enough magic to make you all better, giving you hope. The only question that lingers is if it's a grace from Erastil, or is really thanks to Janus force of will, affecting the First World fabric of reality.

Elf Wizard

So, I am back in front of my laptop - let me try this first:

Int Check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

So far being dettached from the combat, focused on finishing his summoning spell, the wizard evaluates the flow of the combat, the creature's approach and stance - it is a fearsome foe, one of the most powerful creatures they could ever be facing - the odds are overwhelming, but there is something off...

Even though unseen, Edeldhur's voice soars above the din of combat - "Stand fast friends!! Foul play is afoot! The monstrous Linnorm is wrapped in deceit! It is trying to push us towards the castle!"

It is as it should be - the wizard makes the INT roll :D
Summoned creatures to follow asap.

Int: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 <-- Doh...

FYI - I cast Haste in the first buffing round on Rupert, Venetia, Arv, Danath, Kaldwell, Szymon and Marius. I would have used the Rod of Extend, so this should last 14 rounds.

Having few spells that will affect the monstrous dragon. Kiritta retreats with the King.

All fall back. This creature is not to be defeated. It is to be avoided. If it wants us at the castle, we go to the castle or die trying to avoid it.

Male Human (Taldan) Wizard (transmuter) 3 | AC 12, T 12, FF 10 | hp 15/15 | F +1, R +3, W +4 | CMD 13 | Init +3 | Perception +1

"Great," Anton's voice mutters from next to Edeldhur. "So we're being chased by a dragon, and the only place to go is the place it's trying to drive us. Things like this usually only happen after two glasses of absinthe." He sighs and continues the retreat, an invisible force tugging on people's clothing, trying to hurry things along.

"I'm not even sure I can get through that thing's hide," Kaldwell muttered. Feeling the boost in energy of a spell on him, he decided to use it, turning and fleeing towards the castle with the others. His ability to find a weak 'point did no good against something when his kukri failed to pierce its skin.

Kaldwell uses his full movement + the haste movement, continuing to move while in Sneak Mode (thanks Fast Sneak)

Rudolf Ferdinand Aldori III fall back together with the "second wave" (Anton, Szymon, Rupert and Rudolf).
"Prepare to slow the fiend here!"
Anyway his face is paler than you have ever saw it.

Edeldhur and Rhasadilara are missing actions, but I'll go with what I have. In both your cases you can act twice after Tarlaxian.

===================

The Linnorm moves with incredible speed and deadly purpose to kill it's enemies.
First it tries to hit Marcus with it's tail, sweeping it under it's colossal body!
Tail Attack: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (10) + 21 = 31
Tail Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5) + 6 = 12
Marcus can't thing on a way to avoid the attack, and after the hit, at the same time, the Linnorm tries to grapple him!
Grapple Check (only with its tail): 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (12) + 18 = 30
I didn't saw your CMD, but I think it got you!
The tail quickly envelops him and then constrict the life out of him with the powerful tail! Marcus Armor creaks under the enormous pressure!
Constrict Damage: 2d6 + 18 ⇒ (2, 5) + 18 = 25
Total 37 HP damage and Marcus is now grappled.

Then it tries to byte Xi'Tir's body with one of his heads.
Bite Attack: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (15) + 26 = 41
Bite Damage: 2d8 + 12 ⇒ (6, 3) + 12 = 21
Fortitude Poison ST DC 28: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
She is cruelly bitten, a big red splash of red showing on her skin, while she feels acid burning inside her body!
Acid Poison Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 6, 4) = 12
Total 33 damage and poisoned... she will keep suffering damage until cured

It then tries to impale with its claws at Venetia and Arv, in two powerful sweeps.
Arv Claw Attack: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (18) + 26 = 44
Venetia Claw Attack: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (1) + 26 = 27
Arv feels how, even in his mutated state, it is thrown back by the impact!
Arv Claw Damage: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Arv Fall Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4) = 10
Arv Reflex Save DC 20: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
He falls down heavily!
But Venetia is able to dig herself him and use her shield to prevent the strike to hit her, but the force is such that for a second she thinks her teeth had shattered! But with her shield she hurt the Linnorm claw! He wont be able to attack with it for now.
Arv Total 23 damage, is thrown back 15 ft and falls prone!

The other head, contented, looks at all the action, without participating directly.
"My queen wanted to meet you, but I thing thee unworthy, she asked me to take you to her... but she didn't say you had to be alive!"

Elf Wizard

Yesterday I couldn't follow through with the remaining post for round 1 but here goes:

Round 1

Edeldhur's conjuration ends with a loud, resonating single word - "ENGEL!"

As he does so, there seems to be an overwhelming split second of silence, as the fabric of reality is ripped, and three gleaming orbs of strong light manifest, way up and above the head of their Linnorm foe, immediately unleashing a barrage of magical attacks at it, while in the air a single note of celestial sound seems to echo.

1d3 ⇒ 3

Summoning 3 Lantern Archons that immediately attack, each with two light rays.

Archon Alfa Light Ray Touch Attack 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Archon Alfa Light Ray Touch Attack 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Archon Beta Light Ray Touch Attack 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Archon Beta Light Ray Touch Attack 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Archon Zeta Light Ray Touch Attack 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Archon Zeta Light Ray Touch Attack 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

As soon as his spell is finished, Edeldhur immediately falls into the necessary actions for a second cast.

Casting Summon Monster III - it finishes on round 2.

Round 2

As he finishises his incantation, a fourth ball of bright light appears, opposite the others, lashing out at the monstrous creature with two rays of Light.

Archon Delta Light Ray Touch Attack 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Archon Delta Light Ray Touch Attack 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

The Light creatures, possessing extreme mobility, orbit around the Linnorm, peppering him with holy light based attacks that seem to overcome the creature's ability to resist inflicted damage - each of them leaving a tiny scorch mark on its colossal frame.

Looks like something around 21 points of damage - really not that impressing I must admit...

The "explosions in the forest, birds running away", all of that, was to tell you running away was a valid option (it still is), but I plan on doing it for most/all enemies so you know if your attacks / spells hit and finish your posts accordingly. Better and faster!

"This one here was born a creature who could be done in by a sick mouse. And yet there he stands with your blood on his weapon. And here I stand wearing the garb within which I take my meals. Maybe that is why your master has summoned us.... for me to tutor you on what true will can muster!"
He backs away swinging his sword, chugs his vial, and wipes his mouth with the tip of his tentacle.

Round 2
Seeing her previous attack didn't land, and seeing the attacks made against her allies dealing definitive blows, Venetia decides to change tactics, holding her shield up to cover her, she yells at the creature, "Get out of here if you can, I will distract it!" She looks into the mighty creature's eyes and then adds, "Attack me, if you dare!" Venetia is taking a total defense option, +4 AC for the remainder of the round, with haste that kicks her up to 31. It has to roll a 5 to hit me on primary attacks, or 10 on secondary...

Venetia will then start backing up herself.

AoO against Venetia;Claw: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (12) + 26 = 38
Claw: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14

AoO against Venetia;Claw: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (10) + 26 = 36

AoO against Venetia;Claw: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (13) + 26 = 39
Claw: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
So assuming it takes 6 AoOs against me as I move 30 feet back, I take 76 damage, putting Venetia at 4/80 HP. The creature should have 9 AoOs per turn, and I just ate 6 of them.

Venetia, realizing how difficult it is to back away from this creature then presses her hand against herself Swift action, Lay on Hands and feels some of her wounds lessen.

Male Human Weapon Master 5/Hellknight 2

Marius is grappled, and isn't going to be able to break the grapple, but he will attack to the end.

If ever a time called for the use of Hero Points it is now. I will use all three Hero points before my attacks giving me a +8 bonus to every attack, wish me luck lol. I take a -2 to my attack rolls due to being grappled, but the Dragon takes a -4 to Dexterity for also grappling, making the attack/ac a wash. I'm officially out of Hero Points! LOL

Hearing King Rupert's shouts over the din of battle, Marius shakes his head. There was no retreat from this battle for him. The Tarn had him in his clutches and the only thing Marius could do is deal as much damage to the beast as possible so that he could draw it's attention to him.

"I am Marius du'Caat! Hellknight of the Order of the Godclaw. You will remember my name beast, for I will carve it in your very hide!"

Marius then swings his blade with all his might.

Attack 1: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 14 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 8 = 31 Miss

Marius, a couple problems:
1) Tarlaxian grabbed you with only the tail, it is not grappled (only you)
2) You can't do things that requiere two hands (like using a Longsword with two hands)
But as you are spending all your hero points, let's do it! 50 Damage to Tarlaxian!
And it's something as heroic (or foolhardy) that you win a Hero Point back!

She then yells to Ni and the other casters:

Anyone who can summon anything that might slow that thing would be useful and any spells to speed us up as well.

Cast Black Tentacles - use Hero Point to successfully grab the dragon. It is a 40' spread.

If nothing else, it is Difficult Terrain which should slow the dragon slightly - hopefully.

Janus is rather amazed that he and his allies have fared so well thus far. However, the constant clashing with this beast is beginning to take its toll, so Janus decides to do what he does best. Having few other options in regards to healing everyone at once, Janus decides to unleash a wave of positive, healing energy on his allies. He moves himself into a position to catch as many of his allies as possible as they fall back, and while he tries to do everything he can to prevent Tarlaxian from getting any benefit out of it, the half-elf decides that his actions will do more good than harm.

Channel Positive Energy: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 2, 1) = 13

Given the strangeness of diagonal squares, I'm not exactly sure where I can have Jay stand to do this without healing Tarlaxian, but there has got to be a place to do it. The idea is that Janus readies an action and uses it as his allies fall back.

Not expecting much success due to the massive size of the dragon, Kiri raises her hands and calls on the mysterious fey realm to reach out and grab the dragon.

Cast Black Tentacles - use Hero Point to successfully grab the dragon. It is a 40'

Even before she ends casting the speed, putting all her training and being into it, she notices it is not right... The materials, the reality itself of the First World is behaving... Differently... Reacting to the magic in unexpected ways...

A huge black tentacle, at least 100' feet long, think as a house at the base, shots out of the ground in front of the Linnorm and starts trying to attack it...
"Your witchcraft won't stop me!"

Given the strangeness of diagonal squares, I'm not exactly sure where I can have Jay stand to do this without healing Tarlaxian, but there has got to be a place to do it. The idea is that Janus readies an action and uses it as his allies fall back.

Janus manages to heal everyone without healing the Linnorm.

He lets out a little laugh.

Szymon grins and says, "Courage does not ignore fear. It just makes it less important than your purpose."

Kiri looks rather surprised.

Well, that is substantially larger than expected. Not that I am going to complain.

Elf Wizard

After finishing his last summon, Edeldhur immediately moves towards Rupert, reciting words of magic - "You are now able to fly - use that power as best needed to allow for a safe retreat"

7 minutes duration.

Elf Wizard

Ok, I had posted the actions for the new summoned Archon and Edeldhur in round 2, but did not post the actions for the other Archos - doing that now separately:

The luminous creatures continue orbiting Tarlaxian, attempting to damage him and find room for the others to escape - they pepper him with rays of light.

Archon Alfa Light Ray Touch Attack 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Archon Alfa Light Ray Touch Attack 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Archon Beta Light Ray Touch Attack 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Archon Beta Light Ray Touch Attack 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Archon Zeta Light Ray Touch Attack 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Archon Zeta Light Ray Touch Attack 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

If I remember correctly, Tarlaxian's touch AC was... 10? This means they land all 6 attacks for 22 points of damage. GOGO you beautiful light spheres you! :D

Touch DC 16... So 3 distracting attacks for 13 points of damage...

Rupert lets himself hover for a second...

"Thank you Master Edeldhur"

Female / Male Human (Mwangi - Jambala Jaeg) Updated Quest Sheet

Ni stomps along the path in her huge form, her wounds knitting themselves together nicely with the help of Janus's healing magic. At Kiri's call she rumbles back, her voice a veritable roar despite her attempt at being quiet. "I can carry some if needed and I am much faster then most of you..."

Speed 50 (80 with haste)

Just waiting on round 3, no worries though this is fun! :D

Bump

Danath looks to Ni'Tir and sighs at her battered state, only marius had done any real damage to the beast. Ni'Tir and the other wounded were going to need further tending but so far they'd survive this hopefully. He hoped Seraph was faring better then he was...

Har har har ;)

Sorry for the delay... lets continue with this battle...
Tarlaxian roars and lets out a couple cones of toxic acid from each head, getting a two of the lantern Archons in the area of effect, as well as the big tentacle Kiritta conjured...
Acid Damage: 22d8 ⇒ (2, 6, 7, 1, 2, 6, 6, 1, 1, 4, 6, 8, 5, 8, 1, 1, 6, 8, 5, 7, 5, 1) = 97
DM roll: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5
Both the archons and the tentacle gets completely and immediately dissolved by the acid!
More dangerously the acid starts to fall as a curtain of dead in front of him, 60' out and covering all the clearing and part of the path.
Saul McGill and the Cenobitic Monk quickly go over Ni'Tir and tell her to run!
Rupert looks up and screams:
"Everybody RUN!!!"
Anyone doesn't get outside the area of effect of the acid rain? In that case is a Reflex Save DC 28 for half damage...

Kiritta simple turns and runs figuring that escape is the best choice at this point. If the others choose death, that is their choice.

Double move down the path.

Did Edeldhur ever cast Haste to get the rest of us?
