Well, you all know about him, and how is has a big "inferiority Complex" issue, and is trying to get in the Stolen Lands what he couldn't in Restov. Later I'll put more data (if he survives, that's it :P ).

No, I meant hair, personal belongings, etc. Figured after the first party would be a good time to attempt to scry on him.

Kiritta will go with the rest of the Coven to the meeting. Halcorg will accompany her, but will remain a good distance off watching and guarding. Kiri will be wearing her usual bright colored Varisian clothing. She is not carrying a weapon, although she never does.

As always, Xritha will accompany Kiri, sitting on her shoulder and making off color comments about anyone and anything that happens to cross her mind - the decor, people's clothing, their appearance, etc.

Xritta also continuously scans for magic and/or evil and informs Kiri of what she sees.

Got it. About Kaldwell, the thing he was more close to get from Rudolf Aldory was his sword... in the chest :P

Keep screwing up here lol, so I saw that Xi'Tir failed to spot her vanishing in the rift and such right? ANd she didn't hear what she said right? The below post is setup as she didn't see or hear anything and didn't spot Lilliana again. :)

Seeing the two men in the tent Xi'Tir, looking quite tired and knowing she recognized that Rupert fella approaches quickly before they get much further in the tent. Materializing from out of nowhere as the noblemen and his halfling appeared to not be paying attention. She hailed them before she got too close, not caring to much if she surprised them or not. She didn't hide the irritation in her voice as she spoke. "Oi! Rupart! Ya best search dis place before entering ya. Caught some woman h're last night mon, however I never seen her leave. Said she be workin' h're but I was suspicious mon. Been gua'din all night, seen nothing else. Have ya seen meh sista?."

Yeah, I noticed you posted as if Xi'Tir saw it... No problem, is OK anyway. About the accent, no problem on my part

The Halfling puts himself between Rupert and Xi'Tir.
"A woman you say? I think two woman, at least! What are you doing here? Who are you?"
Rupert stands and touch the halfling in the shoulder, as he advances towards Xi'Tir...
"Your sister? Yes, I see the similar factions, I got the pleasure of meeting her at the Town Hall reception, but I don't remember seeing you there... Why didn't you assist? Who was the woman you saw? How did she looked like? Did she do something? Planted something, or casted a spell? "
He seems concerned, but amigable.
"This will be a secret meeting, and your sister is invited, and should arrive soon. As you were invited to the other party and you didn't assist, I guess is just fair you assist this one, where you weren't invited. I need to ask two things from you. Keep an eye on the surroundings, and warn us if somebody else gets near. Don't let anyone see you, not even your sister, it is a private meeting after all, and I don't want anyone to think I have favorites. Second, keep this scroll case with you. Give it to the Lord Mayor if something... Bad... Happens. If everything goes as I want, you can destroy it, or return it to me later. OK? "
The Halfling retorts:
"Are you sure sir? Is she trustworthy?"
Rupert Surtova looks at Xi'Tir, her face, her weapons... And smiles.
"I would trust her with mi life. "
Xi'Tir will remember that was the last thing Rupert Surtova, first king of the Stolen Lands, ever said to her.

Init +3; Senses Perception +12, Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +3 Ranger 7 AC 21, touch 14, flat-footed 18 hp 82 (7d10+12)

She glares at the halfling, she never did trust them as they were little half-men. Chi gave a low growl at the halfling before Rupert intervened. She clicked her tongue and the Cheetah backed down and she mummbled quietly at the halfling. "Careful Mon she Bites."

When Rupert intervenes her glare cools to a suspicious stare as she listens to him speak. "I didn't go cause of da stink of so many in a tiny place, can't do it mon. Won't do it. I prefer da open places. 'sides Ni'Tir didn't need no assistance. Da woman though was Lilliana metinks, whether it truth or not I don't know. She was walking in shadow like me mon, suspicious but I didn't see her do anything. She seemed mighty suspicious when she said she was supposed ta be here. She called for the guards and den didn't see her again. Twas strange, she didn't smell, most things do but she didn't... Just somting I noticed." She gives them a rough description in her thick accent, although some details were muddled as it was dark and the meeting was short lived.

She hesitantly tasks the scroll case, giving it barely a glance as she slipped it into her pack. "Sure ting mon. I send Chi if someone comes, she faster den an arrow."She waved her hand and Chi stalked forward, smelling Rupert first and then the halfling before loping back over to Xi'Tir. With that she nodded and vanished back into the foliage, taking up a high spot in the trees and watching the area around the tents.

UUnderstood and Fixed, just thought the note mean't the next day lol ^^;

Seraph, having already turned down the swordling, doesn't even think about the invitation once she was back at the encampment. She is focused on her duties and wondering what the note in her pocket was about. After a long meeting with everyone back at camp she was still annoyed about what happened and spent a long time that night talking with Danath, which helped her to cool off. She left him looking over his maps and knew he would be up until nearly the morning.

Kaldwell looked at the invite. Well, he wasn't surprised. And he was most likely safe - murdering him now would be poor manners, if nothing else, but it would also be political a bad idea. Not right after he had sworn fealty to Rupert. Neither Rupert nor his enemies would want to connect a murder to the event like that. Well...maybe another Surtova loyal to the King or Queen, but that seemed unlikely so soon.

So after changing into his normal clothes Kaldwell went. In the darkness his skills should allow him to move with relative ease up to the site and look for an ambush - just in case. And Equally, he could vanish as well. It would be more difficult if they lit enough lamps, but...he would manage.

Male Half-Elf Haunted Oracle of Life (Ancient Lorekeeper) 8/Hierophant 1

"Jay! Jay! Wake up!"

Janus' chocolate brown eyes open with a start, and the half-elf jolts upright. He is swiftly greeted by the sight of a small blue-haired gnome dressed in equally as blue scholar's robes sitting on his lap and looking at him with a worried golden gaze. Her tiny pointed ears droop slightly, a classic gnomish sign of depression. However, her expression lightens as she sees him awaken.

"About time, Jay! I've been trying to wake ya up for like five hours!" says Neji as she jumps to her feet and begins trying to help her friend to his. However, given the sheer size difference between the two of them and the fact that the half-elf is wearing several pounds of heavy armor, the small summoner finds the task much easier said than done. With a groan, she abrupt stops and commands, "Yo, D-Man. A little help here!"

A second later, Janus is hoisted to his booted feet with little trouble. He feels an iron grip let go of his arm and turns to see a giant silver clockwork golem with a massive falchion strapped to his back lumbering back to Neji's side. Janus can't help but raise an eyebrow at how stealthy the construct can be at times.

"...So what were we doing before I... abruptly decided to take a nap on the street?" Janus inquires as he starts to dust off his mithral armor.

"To be honest, I have no idea," the gnome replies as she struggles but ultimately hands the woozy Sevenstar heir his heavy shield. "I was reading up on a couple of old languages when Noelle came bursting through my window and begging for our help. She thinks that ya had another one of those haunting visions. Anyway, one of yer acolytes was watching ya after ya passed out, but I told him that D-Man and I would take care of ya. Well, we tried; must have been a bad haunt cuz ya were out for hours, Jay. If case yer wondering, Noelle left about an hour ago. She said something about handling some business in yer place at some fancy dinner-"

Janus instantly felt a cold shiver go down his spine.

"Neji, how fast can Destroyerman get us across town?" the half-elf asks as he begins making his way to where he should have been five hours ago. Neji snaps her fingers, and Destroyerman quickly scoops up his summoner in his arms and begins following the half-elf at a pace that a tiny gnome could have never hoped to match on her own.

"Well, after outfitting this guy with that heavyload belt I made last week, he could probably fly us there in seven minutes if he books it. Less if I enlarge him," muses Neji as she recalls her courier runs around Restov.

"That works!" proclaims Janus as he quickly jumps behind the golem and hops on his back.

Needless to say, Destroyerman is not very amused. Combined with all her gear, Neji is lesser than fifty pounds; even with his magic belt immensely augmenting his strength, the clockwork eidolon strains slightly under Janus' sudden weight. However, he manages to quick adjust his stance, and carrying the two humanoids becomes easy enough.

"Well, hold on tight, Jay," chirps Neji before she turns her head to her eidolon and says, "Let's rock, big guy."

OoOoO

"About time you got here!" says a small azura faerie dragon as she lands on Janus' shoulder. "You sure missed a lot, Janus. Rupert Surtova was just proclaimed King of the Stolen Lands; I was just informed that he will be the man you swear your oath of loyalty to."

"...Good to see you too, Noelle!" deadpans Janus as he makes his way through the crowd to get a better look at the events unfolding before him. "...Rupert Surtova...He's...?

"Cousin to the Regent and the man who will be overseeing much of the reclaiming of the Stolen Lands, including the establishment of Lord Erastil's new temples," Noelle informs her master as the two of them watch an oath taking unfold. "I thought you knew that; those hauntings can sure cause terrible memory loss."

"They sure do," grumbles Janus as he messages his temples.

"Well, never fear, Janus," declares Noelle as she scurries down the half-elf's arm and deposits a piece of paper in his gloved hand. "I wrote out an oath for you to take; I think your are going up very shortly."

"Thanks, Noelle," says Janus as he scoops up the tiny dragon and gives her an affectionate nuzzle.

Not literally a moment later, Janus finds himself before the newly proclaimed King of the Stolen Lands. Having seen enough of an oath taking to know what to do, the Oracle of Erastil swiftly bows before the new king and kisses Rupert's ring. Keeping Noelle's paper tucked away in his glove, Janus recites his oath.

"I, Janus Osiris Sevenstar, swear fealty and complete loyalty to you, your Majesty. As the Church of Erastil's representative for this endeavor, may our partnership be efficient and productive in restoring peace to the Stolen Lands. Additionally, should you ever need my services as a healer, I will do all in my power to keep you in good health. May you have a long and happy reign."

There is not a trace of deception in Janus' oath and demeanor. He means every word.

"Mistress Neji, a halfing wanted me to give you this message; he wished to personally hand it to you or Lord Janus, but as you instructed, I clearly relayed your preference not to be disturbed while you ate," reports Destroyerman's deep and mechanical voice as he places a piece of parchment before the little gnome.

With a mouth full of various foods, Neji looks up at her clockwork eidolon and then back to the document the just handed her. After swallowing the entire ensemble, she begins to look it over. "Huh. Interesting. I'll be sure to give this to Jay once he's done kissing up to Rupert. By the way, good job handling the situation, D-Man. You know how Ms. N hates having her dinner interrupted," muses the gnome as she consumes another pound of chocolate.

"Of course, Mistress Neji," says the golem as he once again assumes his position of guarding the summoner as she eats.

The eidolon shrugs and replies, "He wanted to see Lord Janus, but as our friend's courier, it is your job to handle any Sevenstar mail, correct?"

"...I think he just used ya to point out Jay and gave ya this as a distraction," ponders Neji as the gnome begins wondering what she can do to upgrade the golem's critical thinking skills. Yes, eidolons were universally known not to be the sharpest swords in the armory, but that did not mean Destroyerman had to be so stereotypical.

I'll say everybody arrives to the secret meeting without your cohorts, except for Xi'Tir and Halcorg who are in the trees, watching.
The Second Dinner
The secret meeting starts on time. Besides all of you, Rudolf Ferdinand Aldori III, Saul Magill (representative of "The Oracle's Shadow") and a monk from the Cenobitic Order all arrives, so all of you, who swear fealty are here. The only one that doesn't "belong" is Rupert's halfling helper (the one that gave you the messages).
Rupert greets all of you, and ask you to sit down. After you all do it, he stands at the end of the table and starts talking.
"I won't be a King by imposition. I refuse to be a King because of my cousin wish it so."
He looks expectantly at all of you.
"Many before us have tried, and failed, to colonize the Stolen Lands. And in this occasion everybody wants us to fail. My dear cousin at New Stetven wants us to fail, and me die in the process, so he can get rid of me, and at the same time weaken Rostland. Issia wants us to fail so they can keep Rostland dominated. Even Rostland wants us to fail now because we are now part of Issia's plans for they continuous subjugation. The River Kingdoms wants us to fail so they don't have another player in their pathetic squabbles. And the monsters and bandits in the Stolen Lands are betting their lives and fortunes in our failure."
He waits to see if all of you concur.
"And we will fail. Don't doubt it. We don't stand a chance."
He waits for any retort to end before continuing.
"Unless we stand united. Unless we all join. Unless we trust in one another. But you don't trust me. So we are doomed."
He shows you an ornate parchment he had on the table, raising it with his hand. He starts reciting the contents without seeing it.
"I, King Rupert the First of Sloboda..."
He smiles a little...
"That means "liberty" in the archaic Issian Language, I hope you forgive me the liberty - pun intended - of naming the new country, as "Stolen Lands" sound horrible..."
He gets serious and continues...
"... recognizes the following rights from his peers, the barons of his land, now and forever."
"1. All the people in the land shall be free, in action, word, travel, religion and thought. Slavery is forbidden. Only an act against others will be punishable as a crime, and only if condemned by a judge. Nor talk nor ideals can be a crime in itself. Each person possessions are to be preserved unless ordered by a judge.
2. An Oath is sacred. What you say is your bond, and you will be make responsible of it.
3. Each baron, and the King, will be granted a territory, and within that territory his authority will be uncontested, and can enact his own laws and customs, as long as don't restrict the liberty of their subjects or the breaking of oaths. Each baron is the ultimate judge in his territories, and can delegate that capacity in whoever he wants. A baron that breaks the law can be judged, and condemned, by a majority of a jury of all the other barons and the King. A King that breaks the law can be judged, and condemned, by a majority of a jury of all the barons."

He stops here to let you understand that he is giving you control, by law, over him.
"4. Each baron will obey the orders of the King, unless they contradict the first two articles. Each baron will cooperate with the others, and with the King, in the defense and protection of all the subjects of the Kingdom.
5. Each baron will choose his own rules of succession. The King will be selected, when needed, by a majority of votes of the barons. A King can be deposed if a majority of the barons vote for it."

He sighs...
"I could have written "all", but I need to trust you if you are going to trust me."
He gets serious again and continues.
"6. Each decree of the King can be revoked if the majority of the barons vote against it.
7. All the resources granted by Brevoy to colonize the Stolen Lands belong to Sloboda, and will be used as the King and the Barons see fit. The don't belong to any one person.
I, King Rupert the First of Sloboda swear and sign this, as well as the other 15 barons of the land on this Oathday 16 of Calistril of 4710 AR."

He stops reading. He looks at all of you.
"I won't be a King by imposition. I will only be a King if you all trust me, if you all decide to join with me, and create a new nation in Sloboda. I will only be King if we unite. Venetia has a point, I can't order her to be my queen. But I think I can be a good husband to her as I can be a good King for Sloboda."
He puts the parchment on the table, grabs a pen and signs the parchment.
"I just need for you to follow me, and we will fail if we do not stand together. We need a king now. somebody to organize us. If we start to fight between ourselves, to squabble between ourselves, we don't stand a chance. But when we triumph, I will be the first in invite you all to select our new king. So if you decide to help me, sign, and we can start created our new home. If you don't, I'll try anyway, but I know I can't do it alone."
He extends the pen so you can sign.

Knowledge Nobility DC 15:
He is doing something almost unheard of. A Kingdom with a King that has to obey the law. A Kingdom where the King gets elected. A Kingdom where the Barons are on par of the King. He is mad. Or very brilliant. But definitively he is an idealist (if he fulfills his promises) or a traitor (if he doesn't).

Sense Motive DC 10:
He seems sincere. He is doing this for the good of all.

Sense Motive DC 30:

Danath looked at Rupert with a knowing gaze as what he proposed was unknown to any land that he knew of. Such equality would be looked down upon with scorn by many but would be uplifting to the citizens so long as it held true. It was so close to what Danath had planned that he couldn't help but chuckle in surprise.

Without a word of argument he signs the document, he does however have one request. "Liberty... This will bring an age of equality unknown across the kingdoms but your wrong in one thing. I do trust you as you have yet to betray me, being an Orlovsky or Surtovan has nothing to do with the mission before us or trust. I had greatly questioned the reasons behind your actions but I was nonetheless sworn to aid you with all the might I possess. However I hope you won't mind us naming our own territories." He smiles as he finishes that last swirling flourish on the y of his name. With that he steps back and lets someone else step forward, for once his stoic nature is swept aside in feeling he had made the right choice for once in a long time.

Now the only problem would lie in defeating those who stood against them in the lands of Sloboda and Brevoy's wrath when they find they had been betrayed...

Putting the charter back down on the table, and signing it, he finishes - "I sign it in free will, and will make sure all those that do so, will live up to it" - he offers a bow and a smile at Rupert, then returns to his place in the gathered group.

As you sign the parchment Rupert embraces you, and thank you for it.
"I am sure we will prevail, together. And yes, we all can name our on territories. But after we all sign we will need to discuss some kind of... Union. Some way to tie the laws and customs of our different barones so they all are together in this, while respecting their particularities, just as we will work together without losing our personalities... "

After the tall elven wizard steps forward, the brightly dressed short Varisian woman steps up:
I have foreseen that I was to be here this night. For many years the usurpers from Cheliax have forced the Varisian and Shoanti natives to live as second citizens. In this land I would expect that all shall be welcomed so long as they come in peace and do not harm our citizens or our laws. And by all, I mean not just humans, elves and other humanoids, but all creatures great and small, fey and monstrous included. As long as they agree to live peacefully.

However, I must ask that the judges and the rulers of this land always consider that while this may be a land ruled by laws, it is the people who are governed and it must be the people who are considered first, not strict adherence to the laws when such strict adherence might result in more harm than good.

With that, Kiritta takes the quill and signs her name using an archaic Varisian script that in fact dates back to the age of Thassilon.

You are correct, only one Sense Motive Roll and depending of the result you see one or both of the spoilers.
About the knowledge Rolls, if you want so use several, you make different ones for each of them.

Marius had quietly sat and listened to their new King's noble speech. He sounded almost Andoran in his ideals. This worried Marius. Liberty was a fine idea, but it required law and order to protect it. To give liberty boundaries so that it did not grow into something worse, anarchy.

But this new charter was planting the seeds of that very thing. An anarchic state where the Barons held as much authority as the King would allow for mob rule should one of the Barons become charismatic enough or cunning enough to bend the majority of the council to his idea.

No idea, no matter how noble, could overcome the basic selfish nature of man. Only Order, applied without malice nor mercy could reign in the baser nature of creation.

"Freedom is a noble idea King Rupert, but if unchecked, freedom is the seed from which the thorns of anarchy grows. How do you propose a system of baronies, all with different laws and customs, to work together cohesively as one. Your two restrictions, regardless of how grand an idea they may be, are simply not enough to ensure that a citizen of one Barony is not persecuted by the laws of another Barony they visit. For what if, in the laws of one Barony the price of theft is you pay 3x the price of the good you stole to the aggrieved party and in another Barony it is the hand with with you took the goods? How do we reconcile the various differences that are sure to arise?"

He stood up and looked at the rest.

"This is why I propose that rather than a Barony, I be made the Marshall of this new land and that we come together here and now to implement a set of laws that will be enforced uniformly throughout the kingdom, rather than a piecemeal collection of codes and regulations that vary with the crossing of an imaginary border. Not for my sake or the sake of us, but for our citizens who will then be protected from obscure regulations they may not be familiar with."

"Yes, Venetia, it will really tick my dear cousin. I just hope he is unable to do anything about it. "
He grabs you by the arm and takes you a little aside.
"I am sorry I can't start courting you properly, but this "King" business is much work. When I get myself a Queen she will be able to help me. But, speaking of which, I have a confession to make... Little after we lost contact I had a little... Indiscretion. From it a most wonderful daughter was born to me. I will make arrangements for you to meet as soon as posible. I think its better for you to know in advance, and I hope it doesn't make you think less... "

"Master du'Caat... Each Baron will decide who will have the right to impart justice in their own barony. And you will be just as able to do the same in your own, whatever name you wish to give your assigned territory. If we all, some or none of us decide to make you Marshall, that is something will only happen if you respect our right to decide, and you will be bound by oath to accept our decision, even if you don't like it. As for different laws for different baronies, and how to make crimes punishable if the criminal escapes one Barony and goes into another, is part of the things we need to discuss AFTER we all sign."

Szymon expected an ambush not this. After swearing fealty to this guy, Rupert wanted to make him a baron. A baron! First, a swordlord by his own hand. Then, a hero of Restov with his friends. Now, a baron! His parents won't believe this. They thought their dreamer son would not amount to anything.

He watched Edeldhur sign and support the agreement. Edeldhur is the smartest person Szymon knows, so it must be a good deal. He waits his turn and signs the contract. Szymon is too tongue-tied to say anything, especially after putting a condition on his oath of fealty.

Male Half-Elf Haunted Oracle of Life (Ancient Lorekeeper) 8/Hierophant 1

After the relatively uneventful dinner (one would think that an entourage consisting of a blue-haired, half-fey summoner, a faerie dragon, and flying death golem would get more attention), Janus finds himself presented a piece of paper by a halfing courier, who mumbles something about telling a certain nosy gnome and her tin can to mind their own business. After confirming that the shorter man is a representative of Rupert, Janus sees no harm in at least checking out what the new king of the Stolen Lands has to say.

OoOoO

Before he ever judges somebody (provided that he has the time), Janus is always sure to ask Erastil for Guidance and insight.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 1 = 20

"...That's... a rather incredible offer, your Majesty," says the Oracle after listening carefully to what Rupert has told him. As far as the Oracle can see, Rupert means every word. "I was expecting to help rebuild a few temples at most, but Baron Sevenstar does have a nice ring to it!"

He looks to Anton, Edeldhur, and Szymon. While he is certainly acquainted with the other Heroes of Restov, he can't say that he's exactly best buddies with them. His own title of Hero stems more from his work as a healer and that one time he upgraded the entire town guard's armory on half their budget. However, their positive reaction is enough to edge him into signing.

Provided that he makes a few suggestions first.

"As excellent as this foundation of law is, I think it would be smart if we should add a new clause saying that this document will be refined and clarified at a later date. Open for future amendments so to say. Of the top of my head, 'uncontested' might be a rather... strong way to describe authority. Granted, retroactively adding this eighth article might be in bad taste considering that a few of us have already signed."

Janus points at hand in Marius' direction.

"Additionally, some sort of unified law enforcement might not be a bad idea. Somebody has to enforce our supreme leader's decrees and reign in any rogue barons. Otherwise, we would just be adding another sixteen or so squabbling countries to this region."

Janus briefly thinks about anything Neji might want him to say.

"The barons might also want to consider what certain powers and responsibilities would be best left to the king. For example, one single royal postage system would be infinitely easier to maintain and manage than sixteen. A unified court system might also be the way to go."

He pauses and thinks some more.

"Perhaps some universal, guaranteed rights for the citizens would also be good to add at a later date. For example, at least in my domain, I would have any person on trial to be judged by a jury of their peers unless they wished otherwise. It's been a practice of the Church of Erastil for ages, and I find that it works rather well. We already speak of such a right for ourselves, so why not extend it to everyone?"

Ever a cautious individual, Janus waits to hear any replies to his ideas before officially signing. However, anyone who can fog a mirror would see that the Oracle is certainly willing to add his signature to the list. He just wishes for the possibility of future amendment to be open.

Satisfied with how Rupert has fielded the questions and concerns, Arv strolls up, and bows. "Any room for my name on this piece of paper?" He smiles at Rupert, signs, and bows again.

Arv then makes his way to Marius. "I believe we should make time to discuss a few items which may be in our mutual interest. With this collection of Baronies, you see potential chaos with regard to the law, whereas I worry the same about trade. The former is paramount to the efficacy of the latter, and the latter flourishes within the structure of the former. I would also argue, the former does not go over very well if the latter is skewed against you. If you were to put together a list of laws you would find most important for our united baronies, I would be happy to give it a look. You might be surprised how many I would stand beside you on, and that is even before discussing import tariffs, or a choice for a united baronies center of trade." Arv shrugs...
"As I said... we should make time to talk."

Kaldwell stared at Rupert in amazement. To right such laws into the very founding of his nation...[i]He's either mad, more cunning than I ever dreamed, or truly intent on this.[/b]

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26

Kaldwell was reasonably certain, however, that he meant what he said. While it didn't set his mind entirely at rest - Rupert was still a Surtova - but it was certainly more than he'd ever expected. There were ways around the laws, of course. Mind controlling the barons with a powerful spellcaster - what did that Halfling do, exactly? - was one way. Blackmail and hostages another.

"May I suggest that all votes by the barons," Kaldwell said after a moment, "Take place in an anti-magic chamber, to assure there minds are there own? Otherwise the terms seem more than reasonable, Highness." Certainly more reasonable than Kaldwell would have ever guessed. That should take care of his main fear, in magic.

Can we make rolls about what we know of Slobada already? Or am I getting ahead of myself.

He was astounded at all the clear logical thinking coming up around them and he agreed with a lot of what was being said. Even Kaldwell's paranoid sounding need to ensure a chamber was protected from magic was a good idea, one he would wish to be seen further then just being applied to barons along. Not really wanting to speak until everyone had agreed he approached Marius and Arv "Marius I couldn't agree more to you being our lands Justicar and I will fully fund your organization to see it so. I am sure that Arv has already spoke of a centralized place of trade with you as well and that is something I want more then anything. The creation of a city centralized where multiple baronies intersect would be an auspicious start."

I didn't think your guys talk was private if it is then Danath wouldn't have approached. ;) Just let me know.

PROCLAMATION

Quote:

Be it so known that the Swordlords of Restov, acting upon the greater good and authority vested within them by the office of the Regent of the Dragonscale Throne, are looking for a body of good standing explorers and entrepreneurs so they can be granted the right of exploration, travel and dominion within the wilderness region known as the Stolen Lands. They will be required to strive against banditry and other unlawful behavior to be encountered, clear the land of perils and monsters, develop the assigned territories and protect their new subjects.

If you are part of a company of venturers, from 5 to 7 in number, with widely known fame and references, interested in settling a new land and bring order and progress to the wilderness, please present yourselves, and your credentials, before His Eminence Lord Mayor Ioseph Sellemius at the City Hall, before the Starday 4th day of Calistril, 4710 AR.
So witnessed on this Toilday 2th day of Abadius, 4710 AR, under watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov and authority granted by Lord Noleski Surtova, current Regent of the Dragonscale Throne.

About the campaign:

I plan to do a HUGE "Sandbox-Kingmaker" campaign in the future, but want to test the waters first with a more modest campaign first. No matter it will take a couple of years running it. I "took over" a Kingmaker campaign abandoned by its DM, and in turn got abandoned by the players (I hope it wasn't anything I said ;) ), so I have the campaign studied and the preparation done, and I will take advantage of that. But...
I don't like the idea of sending 4 "nobodies" to become kings of the Greenbelt. I doesn't make sense. I would send an experienced team. People I can trust.
On the other hand, having tried the PbP Dungeon Mastering, I think it lends to:
- Having a big number of players
- Having more complex players (equipment, abilities, etc.)
- Having more than 1 character for each player
- Splitting the party, working at several goals at the same time
Also I don't like the idea to start from level 1, let's save ourselves a couple years and start at a higher level. So if you want to learn how to play, this is not the campaign for you. Not that I am looking for experts, but a first-timer will have a harder time.

About the recruitment:
Will do this as a Play-by-Post campaign over here and RpTools forums for documents and extras. I want to keep it as a high pace game (at least one post a day, maybe more), with a good number of players (10 to 14).
I am looking for 2 teams, 5-7 characters each, starting level 7. Not individual characters, but teams. As they are level 7 already, it will be supposed that they have worked together for quite some time, years maybe, so they know each other and know how to work and fight together. So I want cohesive and balanced teams. I expect the teams to have some friendly competition, but at the end of the campaign I expect them to face together the final challenges. On the way, I expect them to "mix and match" depending on the need of the moment.
The acceptance will be team based, so a solo proposal or a good character in a bad team will be rejected.
Feel free to use the thread to propose and organize yourselves in teams.

Recruitment will be open for a month, Sunday September 1st at least, so take your time to make a good proposal. Feel free to ask for questions and revisions.

About myself:

For examples of my DM mastering, please refer to this "Rise of the Runelords" and this "Kingmaker" ones.
I like my player's characters brave and heroic. Willing to save princesses and orphans, fight dragons and monsters, and stand for all that is good and defenseless.
I tend to ignore rules when they hinder the game, dislike min-maxing, and like roleplaying (but not self-centered drama).
In my games a character will not die unless his player is OK with it. But as Shepherd Book said about the bible and killing: "[is] somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps". Your character life is maybe protected, but his abilities, equipment and contacts are not.
I don't assign experience, but let the characters go up a level when it serves the story.
Don't really like alignment rules, specially lawful-chaotic, so I tend to ignore it. But I won't pick evil characters, and will prefer good ones.

Rulesets:

All official books. Paizo only, no third party, unless I approve it first (and probably won't).
I use D20pfsdr. If it is there (and its not third party) I will probably accept it.
No guns. Will be hard to be accepted as a ninja or samurai.

Players:

Posting: Daily, even on weekends, one minimum, more better. If you can't handle it on a long-term basis, please leave the space open for someone that can.
Experienced players preferred.
Rules lawyers and Min-Maxers will not enjoy the game. I tend to ignore Rules Lawyers, and exploit the "Min" of the Min-Maxers.
Be nice and friendly. Willing to have fun.

Teams:

Characters: 5 to 7 in each team
Integrated and experienced team. Cohesive and Balanced
Need at least two original adventures/exploits they did together (see it as a writing sample)
Need to know why they want to "settle down" instead of keep adventuring on the road.

Characters:

Level 7
Point Buy: 20 points
Races: Core
Classes: Core and Base (no 3rd party). No gunslinger. Will be hard to be accepted if ninja or samurai.
HP: Maximum for level 7
Traits: 2, 1 from Kingmaker
Feats: You can take a drawback, and gain another feat if desired. Be warned: I will exploit the drawback.
1 extra story feat.
Hero Points: 3
Gold: 24,000 GP (including magic items)
Magic Items Limit:
1 up to 8,000 GP
1 up to 4,000 GP
6 up to 2,000 GP
2 wands maximum
10 potions/scrolls maximum
Spellbooks: You start with the normal number of spells, but you gain double the "new level" spells (4 for a wizard).
Leadership feat: Recommended. You can build you cohort and followers. As reputation you have a +3 modifier ("Great renown" and "Fairness and generosity"). Maximum Cohort Level 5.

Note about magic items creation feats for potions, scrolls and wands:

If a character in a team has the corresponding item creation feat and can craft the item by taking 10 you can have the item at the creation cost, and you can give them to your team companions, deducting the cost from their GP limit. That means they can have potions, scrolls and wands made at creation cost.

Recommendations:

- Choose your preferred character build, and flesh it out a little
- Look for other characters that complement your character, and whose players seems like good guys
- Plan your group template. Who are you? Where did you meet? What did you do before?
- Why do they want to settle down?
- No aliases are needed until I accept your group, but it won't hurt to do them

How to get picked:

- Flesh out the characters and party. Make them a nice interesting group I want to DM
- Do a good background so I have more ideas where to game about. Add appearance and personality
- Be original
- Have several players in the team with leadership feat
- I will check other games of the players, if you have a good track record, I will choose you

How not to get picked:

- Ask for a "weird" race / class
- Min-Max your character
- Be without a team
- Have a group or characters that doesn't make sense, story-wise
- Make a loner or evil character
- Two words: Neutral Chaotic

I look forward to read your submissions and gaming with you.

This sounds quite fun. I'll have to come up with some concepts to toss around, but you have my interest piqued.

This sounds interesting, I take it this would be fairly different then a standard kingmaker? I'm currently in a pbp for kingmaker with a decent sized group (10 players) so I hope this would be fairly different Though I suppose different players is a big difference.

You're limiting Cohort level to 5, but for the purpose of a mount could it be at 8? I have a rough cavalier build at the moment that would reach that and would like to have a Griffin mount.

Corsario is a good DM, you guys will have fun with him, and Kingmaker is a blast to play, especially once you able to actually be a King.

P.S. It's not you, babe, it's me.

What would you say to an LE cleric of Asmod

Will have important differences compared to a raw Kingmaker, but some other things will be the same (the map, for example).

I don't care if you have played before, as long as your character doesn't show it.

In time, yes (when the cavalier is level 10). But the objective of the cohort in this is for the player to have a "secondary" character, able to have a concurrent adventure, not a flying mount.

But let us think on something...

A couple more questions, you say that recruitment will be open for a month, but September 1st is next week, is that the proper date?

How do you feel about characters starting off with levels in Prestige Classes, I ask since you said Core or Base under class. I'm specifically interested in Noble Scion, and further more ask if the Noble Born campaign trait would fulfill the special requirements for this class. Additionally I notice you said max level for Cohort is 5th, which is standard for a 7th level character, would it still be 5th as a 2nd level Noble Scion?

No it's not, thanks for the head's up. It will be open until September 29th, at the least.

About Noble Scion, I love it! Looks perfect for the campaign. Noble Born trait is not enough (as I see it the prestige class gives you Leadership feat as extra, so using the Kingmaker trait will give yous an extra feat). But if you take the Noble Scion Feat you can skip the Kingmaker Trait and take another trait you like. About the Cohort, it will be a level 6 one. I fear I don't quite like it, as your secondary character will be higher level than the rest, but let's leave that problem for later.

Only with your invitation. Players who abandon their dm have to sit in the penalty box.

That being said, if you are inviting, hell yes!

Well I was planning to take both the feat and and the noble born trait. And as far as the cohort being a higher level I tend to look at it this way: Yes the cohort is stronger, but the main character is weaker by taking the class.

Hmmm. I was thinking a LN Level 5 Fighter/Hellknight Order of the Godclaw 2. Worshipper of Abadar, bringer of Law to the lawless Stolen Lands.

Not sure if anyone would be interested in building a connected character, maybe the Cleric of Asmodeus would be cool.

I'm thinking this is an amazing place for a human bard. :) I just have to flesh out more.

Liberty's Edge

The HellKnight sounds good... The cleric of Asmodeus doesn't :P

About the bard, yes, this is the place. We need charismatic statesmans and rulers

Fascinating! I have a noble-born Cavalier concept that would mesh perfectly with your concepts for this campaign.

If anyone is interested in working out a party composition let me know.

I'd absolutely be interested. :)

Shadow Lodge

So I'm thinking either Medvyed or Surtova for noble families. I'm guessing Surtova would be considered a "Scion of War" noble family, but for the Noble Scion feat, what would Medvyed be considered?

I'm also considering worshiping an empyreal lord, so how do you feel about the Celestial Obedience feat from Chronicle of the Righteous. The Empyreal Lords I am considering are: Arshea or Olheon. Additionally, do you feel that these deities would be proper choices for a scion of either noble house mentioned above (I'm thinking Arshea w/ Medvyed or Olheon w/ Surtova, even though Arshea w/ Surtova could be interesting).

If this sounds like a character that could fit with other people's ideas, let me know.

Dotting for interest. Have to think which direction I'd like to try. Either an Aldori Swordlord type, or some kind of spellcaster. Maybe a witch.

Or maybe I'll think of something else as I ponder.

Shadow Lodge

Actually, looking over the pathfinder wiki, House Khavortorov could be an interesting choice, since it isn't an option for noble born, but is still considered a noble house in Brevoy.

So Khavortoroy, Surtova, or Medvyed. Khavortoroy with the bastard (Rogarvia) could be interesting...

Dotting! I actually have a 7th level Half-Elf Oracle of Life I could use here. A complete overall of his fluff will be necessary, and some major mechanical adjustments will need to be made, but I have been wanting to use the character for a while.

I have a barbarian that I am thinking of playing. Have the story currently where he happens upon the city of Restov. Just wondering whether a party that is being formed would be keen to accept a barbarian into their fold.

Maybe met in a bar fight or happened upon the group as they were beset by bandits or the such. Maybe even having a life debt from me. I'll post the initial background and see where we can go from there.

pretty much a somewhat introverted barbarian on a spiritual mission use his strength for a greater purpose.

even though he is illiterate. lol.

Background:

A wisp of thick air hung in the air as his breath left his mouth. The northern face of the mountain was deadly at all time of the year so he had to make sure to take caution. The tundra itself can be an unforgiving enemy if left to it's own devices, not to mention the wandering Orc tribes or the demonic horrors boiling from the Worldwound. It's all these factors and the constant threat from all sides that the Kellid people have such a strong distrust of outsiders. I know this but now I find myself an outsider in a land where one would be hard pressed to survive alone. It wasn't always this way, I had always shared on hunts and expeditions with my brother Jokon. We were inseparable at times even though we constantly argued, that was our way as brothers. He was the brains and I was the brawn, it always brings a smile to my face when I think about it.

My eye's were fighting back the bright light piercing from eastern sky, not only from the sky but from vast landscape surrounding me. Experiencing this brought to mind an old saying that the village elders had taught us as children “Always fight with the sun at your side. If the sun is at your back, its reflection on the snow and ice can be as blinding as the sun itself.” The truth of this saying holds it's own when you have experienced battles upon the tundra of the north.

The ice and snow crunched lightly under my boots as I knelt to look at fresh tracks of a wandering meal for me and my tribesman. I had been out for the afternoon just biding me time until Jokon would be sworn in as a Huntsmaster. The honorable title of one of few elite hunters within the tribe. I was still too young to become one. Huntsmaster's are predators, versed in the lore of the great beasts and attuned to the spirits of the hunt. When tribes clash over hunting grounds, huntmasters lead their people to war. A huntmaster honors the prey animals that sustain their tribe, protecting the herds from foolish hunters eager to kill more than they need. She is always ready to travel far from their tribe to seek out new hunting ground, observe the health of the great heard, and learn wisdom in the dance between predator and prey.

We were always hunters from the time we were young, but that was always the task of them men in our tribe. Hunting was forever in our heritage and bloodline. Not only for sustenance but for pride and tribe protection. Using our tracking skills to keep our ever dangerous hunting grounds free from fey, orc, witches and any other of the like.

Today was a clear day, the sole sound surrounding you being the whispering yet hard northern wind. It brings you comfort and reminds you of the warmth to behold you when returning home, to be among friends and family. Closing my eyes I draw in a chilling breath and exhale with icy vigor. Flushing any stagnant air within my chest. Not long until I will be among laughter and celebration of this wonderful day for my brother. A moment after reveling in the night to come, I heard a distant thundering boom, not those of treading mammoth or ice giants in the distance feigning thunder. This was different, almost sinister. I couldn't determine what it was at first, quickening my pace to the crest of the hill to catch a glimpse. Reaching the crest of the final hill of my journey the realization at what the sound was horrifyingly apparent. I reached for my hammer and started to sprint. Witches.

Fire reached out to the sky pouring black smoke to the heavens as if in tribute to the lives lost within the licking infernos. My eye's darted the encampment searching in a mixture of disbelief and terror. The blood under my skin boiled while my heart furiously caressed every inch of my body with this lust driven rage. I had no time to dull my senses at this time, controlling myself until I could make sure that he was alright. Joken, my savior, my solace. I ran straight through the carnage and mayhem that exploded around me in every which direction. My leg sizzled with emerald acid, my focus did not waiver. I rounded the Bloodspeakers tent to the ceremonial grounds where Joken was to spend the day in preparation for his celebration. I felt the wince of pain, and the grip on my hammer loosen ever so slightly. I stood in disbelief, trying to remind myself that this may well be just a dream. My brother and father stared blankly back at me, suspended within a block of ice. A sudden blast scorched my back and I felt wet blood carry the chill from my wet tunic to my back. I did not feel pain, all I felt was the licking arctic air at my back. Moment's past as my heart pumped even faster, not fueled by hope or panic, but by rage. My grip tightened and I howled into the sky rivaling a winter storm. “Blood shall be spilt, and mine will not be of it !”

I pivoted on my right leg, locking gazed with a twisted frozen maiden of Irissen. My legs carried me stride after stride never faltering. The witch's eyes widened as my shambling ferocity bounded towards her with frightening speed. She tried to fly away but to no avail, even ten feet into the air she was not safe. A quick leap onto a weapons rack and my hammer was caressing her cold complexion, turning a once cold stare into a fine red mist. Red and black remained in my mind while I slipped into a battle fury. I battled to the end, whether it was my own or their it did not matter. Death will come someday, but for certain mine will not come cheap.

I awoke on the back of a horse drawn carriage, but before I could sit up and realize where I was or who I was in the company of an overwhelming pain flushed over my body.

“Don't move you clod. I spent all night getting your wounds healed and cleaned. You don't want want me to do it a second time, I would make sure you were up for it.” A voice came from the front of the carriage.

“Why are we moving...I have to get back....back to my village.” I groaned.

“There is nothing left, we were a half a days ride behind those Irrisen witches. Too late for sure, but when we got there we saw you, we tried to help but you came after us as well. You had already killed the last of the witches that stayed behind. You had lost a lot of blood, but still. By the gods, you could scare the sea away at low tide my friend! We had five Blackravens just trying to get you under, Five! Sorry about the head by the way, couldn't see any other way to make that happen without endangering the men.” the man chuckled.

“Was there anyone else?” I whispered. The man paused and looked over his shoulder.

“Sorry boy, you were the only one, a luck one at that. Those witches were cold sisters, mean as could ever be.

I was silent for several minutes gathering my self, the only words that were audible was “Blackraven? ... Who? ... Gone?”.

He roared “Aye, Blackraven Witch-Wardens. If they are ugly and flinging spells we are killing them. My name is Birgun Beartooth of the Kalsgard Blackravens. I didn't want to leave you out there especially since you went through the trouble of killing almost seven of those damned witches. You took several blasts that would have killed a man outright yet you still battled on with the rage of a wild beast. Either way take rest now, it will be at least another day before your back on your feet, let alone in the saddle of a horse.”

Darkness surrounded me yet again.

Days past and I drowned in sorrow but the overheard talk of battle and hunts took my interest. I slowly began to share meals with my caregivers. Learning about their culture and the history of the Ulfen people as well as the their stories. Identified by their magnificent cloaks of raven feathers, Blackraven witch-wardens are trained to defend the Linnorm Kingdoms' eastern border against the threat of the White Witches of lrrisen. They may hunt down threats or protect folk traveling through the wilderness. When they can be spared from those duties, they often seek out artifacts and secrets to help them in the defense of their lands and to ultimately defeat the threat from Baba Yaga's realm. This history and talk of a new land intrigued me and I started to open up sharing stories of my own.

For three weeks we traveled and hunted together. I had found out that they had been looking for information on movement of the witches east of the Irrisen border. I didn't have enough information to be of any help to them. We shared each others company for the time being. Either way it was purpose in my life that had been turned upside down.

Several nights following my recovery and new friendship I started to have lucid dreams that seemed to come and go Not thinking anything of it I passed them off as a shadow of what had just happened. One night in particular there was a vision on my brother frozen in his icy grave, calling out to me. He sighed with a ghastly chill to his voice.

“Gerad you cannot forget the way of life that we had, you have a strength that must be tested and wrought. You cannot stop until you have found a challenge worthy of your might brother. You know it cannot be found here, the north only holds an icy grave for you. Head south You shall find a piece of your homeland and cause worthy of your strength brother. You will find answers you seek along that journey.” I reached out to touch him and sooner than I could realize the image diffused into blackness.

What did this mean? I asked my self. Head south? What does the south have for me here? Why would my homeland, the place where I was born hold an icy grave for me? So many questions yet no answers. I chose not to question the spirit of my dead brother. The next day I bid farewell to my companions and headed to the south. A quick farewell and wishes of goodluck were the last that I saw of Birgun and his Blackravens.

Day after day past as I wandered south. The days became warmer and the vegetation greener. I kept to myself, living off the land and sharing my camp with traveling vagabonds and merchants. I was just crossing into the region of the River Kingdoms when I saw something that would not waiver my attention. A mastodon trophy on display in a bazaar outside a town that did not peak my interest. I started at the head and looked quietly as I whispered to myself.

“...a piece of your homeland...”

The next thing I saw was a piece of paper with writing on it and a seal. I asked the man at the stall for help deciphering the words on paper. He told me to head into Restov.

“I will not waver Jokon, With all my might I shall prevail.”

I took stride, hoping that I would know where to go next, either by fate or with the help of the spirits.

possibly the muscle for a caster type that they could have a duo of sorts. One being the brains and the other being the brawn.

Appearance:

Gavriil takes after the mighty Taldan knights he descends from. His hair is long and flowing. Skin naturally bronzed. Beard full and neatly trimmed. The toned muscles of a trained warrior. There are some thing though, that mark him as Brevic rather than true Taldan. Eyes of blue and dirty blond hair from the Ulfan settlers of Issia. A beard too full to be fashionable in Oppara. A battle-axe instead of falchata hanging at his side. Any Issian would curse that he's a Taldan. Any Taldan would sneer at the 'colonial'.

Background:

Knave! Thou hast impugned the lady's honor. I Salereon of House Gavriil do challenge you. Draw your weapon sir, and Gorum shall judge this matter between us! -- An introduction into the character of Salereon.

Gavriil is a minor Rostlandic house. Tracing it's ancestry to several noble houses, house Gavriil combines the passion of Khavortorov, the invincibility of Darahan, and the wild courage of Tilernos into a heady brew of charging steel that is truly a sight to behold. Alas, it is often beheld on the wrong side of a battle or charging into dragon's gullet. Thus it is that the house's fortunes have waned, or never really waxed for that matter, for there are only so many times that an entire generation of sons, and daughters but we aren't really supposed to talk about that, can go to their glorious deaths before there isn't much left to build the estate with.

When Salereon was young, shortly before he would begin training as a page, something happened that would change his life forever. He fell ill. Yes, that doesn't sound very unusual, children fall ill all the time. This time, however, was different. The fever would not fade and common remedies did little. Finally Salereon's father brought a priest, a young cleric of Erastil who was able to cure the disease.

As per the priest's request, Salereon began accompanying the priest Garrenn on his bi-yearly pilgrimages across Brevoy. Many times they have made this journey together.

These journeys played a critical role in the formation of Salereon's character. He learned the healer's arts, and, though showing no talent for divine abilities, a keen respect for the gods and those who represented them. He also learned of the power that being nobility provided, for the presence of even a lesser noble opened doors that would otherwise have been closed to a wandering priest, and the responsibility that came with it.

When word began to spread about charters being given for the exploration and, perhaps, settlement of various areas of the Stolen Lands, the council were of two minds on the Gavriil issue. The ayes said that none could doubt the family's loyalty and sometimes having a great thundering lancer who won't look too carefully at what we're trying to do is just what we need. The nays asked whether we really wanted to risk the family dying out. There are only so many to feed to the trolls after all.
In the end, the council's deliberations on the matter were moot. Word reached the family and immediately all who were of age, and most that weren't of age, and some of those beyond the age, immediately began clamoring for the honor of representing their noble family in this quest to tame the savage wilderness and bring the bandit scum to justice. Fortunately a wise head, a member of the family by marriage only, suggested that a single member of the house, who was of age and of sound body, but not yet under the obligations of marriage, present himself to the-lord mayor. At this point eligible family members began to rather un-subtly scheme against each other, generally by attempting to break one another's limbs so the individual would be ineligible.

In the end, the matter was settled in the traditional manner. A thundering joust. Salereon won, though the final match ended in forfeit when a sister failed to maintain her disguise until after the match was over. Squealing in delight is not acceptable in maidens masquerading as knights.

To fellow applicants! Salereon is mostly complete and I am looking for people to start forming a party with. For those of you who are familiar with David Eddings, think Arend and you already know him.

What are the character creation guidelines for cohorts?

So are we figuring out a party from this forum to assemble and create a background for? So 5-7 individuals?

Was just testing the waters to give people an idea about the initial background of my character. Will elaborate once I have some party members to introduce and include in the proceeding story.

I believe so. Any thoughts on where/how your barbarian and Salereon would have met? Salereon's earlier travels with the priest provide a nice opening, but I'd like to hear more about about what you are thinking for him.

Cosmic Dream Lord wrote:

Same as the main characters (remember, your cohorts will not be NPC's, but your "secondary" characters) with this differences:

- Up to level 5 - depending on your leadership score (you have the leadership feat, right?)
- Gold: 10,000 (Including magic items)
Magic Items Limit:
1 up to 3,000 GP
3 up to 1,000 GP
3 up to 500 GP
1 wands maximum
5 potions/scrolls maximum

CrazyYodler wrote:

Yes, I want the party to have "history", and for you to figure out how they work together. Not 5-7 strangers embarking in a new adventure, but a TEAM embarking in the adventure of their lives. I would say do not care on how they met (it could be anywhere) but what did they together for 7 levels.

- Horseshoes of speed: 3000

- +1 Living Steel Full-plate: 4150
- Mwk Adamantine Warhammer: 3000
And I would say the full plate exceeds it...
The other magic stuff should be less than 2K GP.
What id the banner made of, anyway, virgins hair? Ohhh, this one!
Remeber: Leadership feat recommended.
. Nice!

So I have a concept idea, that I might go ahead with.

But I want to know how you feel about a character being in the middle age category.

Here's the idea, the main character is the one who would be middle aged, and her cohort is her own daughter. More specifically, the main character (the one with Noble Scion) would be an Arshea worshiping member of the noble house of Medvyed who at some point in her life had a tryst with an elf, which resulted in the birth of her daughter a Half Elf Cleric (or maybe Nature Oracle) of Arshea.

The main character in this case is not very likely to be a primary spell caster, as Noble Scion does not progress spell casting. As such, she might be a Paladin or Ranger at best, or possibly a Fighter or Cavalier, I have yet to decide.

If the main character is a Paladin, both characters would likely have the celestial obedience (Arshea) feat, as the Half Elf cleric will definitely have it.

For those unaware, Arshea's Obedience & Boons:
Obedience Achieve sexual release by yourself or with one or more partners. Praise the most beautiful aspects of yourself and any partners aloud, and offer a prayer to Arshea while still naked. Gain a +4 sacred bonus on Charisma checks and Charisma-based skill checks when interacting with an intelligent creature who could be sexually attracted to you.
BOONS
1 (@12 HD): Arshea’s Charmer (Sp) disguise self 3/day, mirror image 2/day, or charm monster 1/day
2 (@16 HD): Flawless Form (Su) Gain an armor bonus equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum +1) whenever you wear revealing clothing and no armor.
3 (@20 HD): Liberation (Sp) You can cast freedom once per day.

In addition, the cavalier does not suffer any penalty to his AC after making a charge attack while mounted.
Boots of the Cat: The boot’s wearer always takes the minimum possible damage from falls (as if the GM had rolled a 1 on each die of damage incurred by the fall) and at the end of a fall always lands on his feet.
Challenge (Ex): 2/day [Swift Action], you can challenge a foe to combat. Choose one target within sight to challenge. Your melee attacks deal extra damage whenever the attacks are made against the target of the challenge. This extra damage is 3. The cavalier can use this ability once per day at 1st level, plus one additional time per day for every three levels beyond 1st, to a maximum of seven times per day at 19th level. Challenging a foe requires much of the cavalier's concentration. The cavalier takes a -2 penalty to his Armor Class, except against attacks made by the target of his challenge. The challenge remains in effect until the target is dead or unconscious or until the combat ends. Each cavalier's challenge also includes another effect which is listed in the section describing the cavalier's order. he receives a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls against the target of his challenge so long as he is astride his mount. The bonus increases by +1 for every four levels the cavalier possesses.
Order of the Sword: Whenever the cavalier uses Sense Motive to oppose a Bluff check, he receives a competence bonus on the check equal to 1/2 his cavalier level (minimum +1)

Appearance:

Standing tall and in his wargear, Malor cuts a striking figure. He's about six foot two, with shoulder length brown hair and striking grey eyes. A scar runs along the underside of his right jaw, a leftover from an almost fatal wound, leaving a small crease.

Background:

Born the bastard son of a minor nobleman Restov, Malor was lucky to be brought into the household as his father had no children at the time. This changed around the age of 10 when his father secured a bride (indeed a wonder at all given the scandal of Malor's birth) and budding child. Seen now as a hinderance, Malor was sent off to join one of the knightly orders, in this case the Order of the Sword. Here he spent the majority of his young life before earning his spurs at the age of 22. With his boon companions and fellow knights Titan and Borrus, they served the order and had adventures. But as Malor grew older he also became more jade about the Order. It seemed that the senior knights were more focused on political gain and power than their oaths. Indeed, he began to notice this about his companions as well. His scrutiny strained their friendship and they eventually parted way. Malor parted ways from the Order as well, becoming an adventuring Knight-Errant.

"You would leave the Order, after all its done for you, Malor?" asked
the local ordermaster Lucien. "Off to sell your service to the highest bidder? Or take by force?" It came out almost as a sneer. "I do not part from my knightly code, but those who sully it. I have noticed knights falling from the guiding principles of the Order, taking to vice over virtue and using the law to their benefit alone. And those knights now stand in high ranking within it. Even now there resides one before me. So I take my leave." Malor replied, striding out without waiting for a response. Sputtering in anger, Lucien yelled out as Malor left, "YOU ARE CAST OUT! YOU WILL BE STRICKEN FROM THE LIST OF KNIGHTHOOD! COWARD! CAD!"

After that, Malor adventured alone for a while, heading out of his homeland. He had escapades and adventures aplenty. He slew the werewolf of Lustern, with a silver spear he stole from its very lair. In the town of Bastern, Malor freed the townspeople from the enchantment of an evil wizard. He fought the dreadknight Gorgas, who gave him his scar, narrowly defeating him and breaking the spirit of his bandit company.

Now 26 years of age, Malor had had enough of new lands and decided to return home. Here, he found new companions with which to adventure. Some he got along well with, some not so well, but they've always guarded each other from danger and worked well together. And oh! What great times they've had.

There was the amusing tournament that both Malor and Salereon entered in disguise, only to end up jousting each other for the final round! They managed to unhorse each other and set to melee. Evenly matched, they continued until Salereon managed to knock Malor's helment off, at which point he hesitated in confusion. Malor had none and knocked him over the head, knocking his helmet off as well. Both stared at each other, then laughed them selves silly. In the end they both stepped out and went for a drink afterwards.

His Lovely Lady:

Malor has had many offers from women in his travels. A gallant knight in shining armor, recently returned from slaying the towns woes could turn many a heart. But he has rarely accepted them. No one has managed to catch his heart until he met Calene. Calene is the youngest daughter of a lord, 27, whose willfulness and skill as an enchantress had kept her from any arranged marriage. Her father, Lord Whailore was rather irate over the matter but never forced it. Malor met Calene when her father had put out notices for adventurers to deal with a young green dragon that had been terrorizing his lands. In their meeting with Lord Whailore Calene happened to be present and the two simply stared at each other. After the dragon had been dealt with and the adventurers subjected to a feast, Calene and Malor found a quiet place and had a long and enjoyable talk in which they expressed interest for each other. Afterwards Malor approached her father about courting her but his bastard birth and lack of standing caused his refusal. Thus began a secret courtship over the next four years, with Calene using her arcane arts to facilitate their meetings in-between adventures. He gave her a gift of pearls, a beautiful golden necklace, and other spoils from his travels. She in turn gifted him with a embroidered cloth as a token of her favor, which he hung upon his lance, which she had enchanted for him. The secret eventually was found out by Lord Whailore and he confronted his daughter in anger, who left in her own fit of anger. Fleeing to Malor's side, she wept over the discovery and what she thought to be the end between them. Instead he took her hand gently and asked her to run away with him. And she said yes.

I'll do the horse and cohort stats later. My eloping enchantress is my cohort and the reason he has accepted the charter. He hopes to gain land and estate for them and to marry her. I'll update the background when more applications are in with team adventuring. If you dislike any direction I take your character just ask and I'll change it.

Liberty's Edge

OK, is good idea to warn the potential players: I don't flinch about "adult" - romantic themes. I encourage it. If your character doesn't have a significant other I will make sure you get several "applicants" on the course of the campaign (you can see how that works in my Rise of the Rulelords logs).

So the first clothing-optional realm of Golarion? Love the idea!

About the middle age, no problem whatsoever. Cohort daughter? I would expect her to be more disobedient that the usual Cohort, but sounds great. About the father, somebody thinking in an elf to add to her team, and fancies to have a daughter?

About Malor: love the submission, and would ask others to do submissions like that. You beat me to it, I was planning your first duel with Salereon before reading you wrote about it yourself. We will need to integrate your adventures with your team.

I just had a thought. Since we get the cohort to play at times as a secondary character, I can do both of my ideas.

My main will be an elf Witch (Winter Witch) 5/ Winter Witch 2. Assuming you allow the WW prestige class. Trait: Noble Born (Medvyed) as an adoptee found in the forest in the winter. Made sense to me with the family's association with the Fey.

The Cohort will be a human or half-elf. Maybe fighter of some variety with the Sword Scion (duelling sword) trait. He can be either a bodyguard, consort, etc.

I'll start getting something written up as soon as I can, but I'll be away for a week come Saturday. I may have internet access (via tablet & wifi), but I'm not sure how much time I'll have to focus on this.

@Salereon:

Could have been caught hunting on your family land without permission, and being very stubborn did not listen to warnings from yourself. A challenge from you could have ensued. Being a brash barbarian unfamiliar to civilized areas, I wouldn't have had any idea of the etiquette of duels and the such. After being subdued and disarmed, rage would have overwhelmed me and the once honorable duel would have turned into a fight to the death.

Not sure on the rules of issuing duels and all, but i'm sure there are some ramifications to breaking any of those laws.

I'm thinking that you could have used your pull in the matter by rather than having Gerad by held in trail by combat, to serve under you and your cohorts.

ps. I was also thinking that time spent with you and your priest could have also influenced my development over the years. Becoming a "Rage Prophet" prophet in the making.

Silver Crusade

Ignore, I just noticed your reply to another who basically had the same question :D

@Salereon

If i did go rage prophet as well, could also play with the idea of an incident happening where Gerad was accidentally maimed in the issued challenge, broken leg or the like. (letting me take the "lame" oracle curse, with decent background to it.)

@Everyone

My Kingmaker, Varisia pbp appears to have died with a GM missing 10 days and counting. This game looks great. Plus, I really dig high level starts.

I would like to join a team BEFORE I create my character. Since it is Brevoy, I was thinking an Aldori swordlord. However, I see an dearth of full casters. I'm comfortable with any role and will create a suitably interesting character for a team.

Is there a team that needs another player? If yes, what roles do you need filling? We can work the backstory out later.

cheers

Shadow Lodge

I don't believe many of us have started picking teams just yet, however I have decided on names for my character and her daughter.

First, Venetia Medvyed Paladin of Arshea Noble Scion of House Medvyed. I have selected her feats and allocated her skill points, all that's really left to do is pick traits and equip her.

Second, Tarina Medvyed, Half Elf Nature Oracle of Arshea. I still need to build this character.

I am fine with another PC being Tarina's father, of course Tarina might not know or might not care. Venetia is the type that might have hooked up with some or all members of her party at some point, despite being a Paladin. Note that because of the paladin's code however, Tarina has to be Lawful Good.

So, Venetia and Tarina need a group, and yes Venetia is 40 years old and Tarina will be 23.

Silver Crusade

So I think my guy is going to be a weapon specialist 5/ hell knight 2, with a level 5 rune forged dwarven cleric cohort.

We've taken it upon ourselves to bring the law to this land of wastrel and bandits, civilizing it as is our divine right.

Both my cohort and character will be LN with the emphasis on Law, I as a player am f
More of a NG with an emphasis on what's cool. I'd love to pair up with maybe a paladin player or inquisitor for group synergy but part of me really wants to play with a bunch of barbarians just for the sheer shenanigans we could get in to.

The paladin of the celestial lord sounds like it would lead to some great rp potential

might need some level headed caster bit. May spin some webs in my brain and come up with an alternate to be available for a team(s) when I get back from work.

so at the time being current prospects are:

-Gerad Jortem (Barbarian and/or Rage Prophet)
-*Unknown* (Arcane caster of sorts)

If anyone may have a possible story fold for an arcane caster let me know and I can work on a back story later tonight.

I think this will, roughly, be the name of my bard (this is ShadowyFox). He'll probably group up with someone already existing. I don't think I'd take Leadership with him just yet, because I think he's basically being sent out with some of the other individuals because he basically got into trouble and was basically sent with a group of folks who were more "reliable", so that he could stay out of people's way.

Say that he was a bastard child of minor nobility, and he was proving to be a bad bit of publicity for the noble house, so they sent him out with a group of adventurers to "get it out of his system."

I have been thinking about this thread for far too long, and now it's time to jump in and say something.

A druid. A casting, buffing, healing, controlling, summoning druid.

Probably without an archetype. Very wise and gruff, frequently aloof but prone to monkeywrenching when he sees nature being encroached on by the forces of evil. He lacks social graces and has a tendency to wander off between adventures, but has a knack for turning up just in the nick of time and having the right spell ready.

His cohort is an elven rogue (sniper) with a wild gloss and a knack for finding trouble.

They need names, and of course, they'll look for the team most likely to maintain the most wilderness within the kingdom.

Shadow Lodge

Considering that Arshea is an Empyreal Lord of nature whose traditional worshippers include good nymphs, I think it is safe to say that Venetia and her daughter would want to maintain wilderness. That being said I could also see them working with a hellknight.

Liberty's Edge

Selereon made some private questions, but I think the answer need to be open:

Salereon wrote:
Would it be alright if it was the enchantment value that was under 2000? That's what I was trying to do, the horseshoes being my 2000-4000 item. I ask because living steel adds 1,500 to the already 1,800 mwk fullplate. I don't anticipate the living steel ever coming into play mechanically, but really like the flavor. It and the greenwood lance are connected to a background event with the fey. Barding is also tough to get under the 2000 limit it's 4x the regular armor price. Think of the horses!

Adamantine Warhammer.... ok... but you have to add the cost of the warhammer. Not magical, doesn't count on the limit.

Damn you are right! Living steel is not magical... is under 2k then.
Ok, that one passes, your gold :D

Armor for Unusual Creatures: The cost of armor for non-humanoid creatures, as well as for creatures who are neither Small nor Medium, varies. The cost of the masterwork quality and any magical enhancement remains the same.
All magic armors and shields are automatically considered to be of masterwork quality.

So the +1 Agile Breastplate barding costs:

Breastplate (agile) 400 gp x4 (Barding) = 1,600 GP + 1,000 GP (Magic +1) = 2,600 GP

You can only but 1 thing over 2k GP and up to 4k GP:
Horseshoes of speed: 3000
OR
+1 Agile Breastplate barding: 2600

Life is tough for horses, what can I say...

Unless... you find someone that can craft woondreous items and give it to you half a price... a Cohort or a team member...
