Conquest of the New World

Game Master EltonJ

Conquest of the New World, Greyhawk style. Across the Solnor Ocean lies a new world just waiting to be discovered and conquered! Peopled by strange cultures, can your group conquer a new world for the Great Kingdom of Ahlissa? This game uses the Pathfinder 1st Edition ruleset.

Checking for a Pathfinder campaign set in GREYHAWK where the player characters leave the Great Kingdom of Ahlissa and goes off into the far east to conquer -- tada! -- a land full of Aztecs, gold, maize, and cocoa.

Player characters are coming from Oerik to conquer a bloodthirsty people that cut hearts out of their sacrificial victims and dedicate the practice to their gods. Player characters may come a Conquering to either convert the heathen, or to grind them beneath their feet and form a new Kingdom.

Players interested should nominally get Maztica, or if you are feeling adventurous, GURPS Aztecs. Maztica is available on drivethru or D&D Classics; and GURPS Aztecs is available on Warehouse23. I have managed to purchase both and I want to try to run a campaign using Maztica and GURPS: Aztecs. Purchasers should note that GURPS Aztecs contain considerably more information on the Aztecs than Maztica, and costs less. However, Maztica is much more poetic and fantasy based. However, you are gaining more for your gaming dollar if you purchase Aztecs.

CONQUISTADOR CREATION:

  • Ability Scores: Lets be generous. All ability scores are rolled 2d6+7. However no attribute will be less than 8 or more than 18.
  • Race: Unlike other Greyhawk DMs, I'm letting you have a little more variety. You may choose any Core Race or Featured Race from the Advanced Race Guide. Although please note that the Great Kingdom of Ahlissa is mostly populated by Oeridian and Suel humans. \
  • Class: Conquistadors may choose from any class, including Gunslinger. Those that wish to convert the Heathen to Pelor or Hieroneous can choose the Cleric or Oracle, or if they are representing Ehlonna, a Druid. Warpriests of Heironeous, Hextor, or Erythnul are considered to be Conquistadors.
  • Traits: 2 traits as per standard to help flesh out your background.

  • Conquistador Backgrounds:

  • Generating your background: You may use Ultimate Campaign to generate your background. If you don't have Ultimate Campaign, you may use Central Casting: Heroes of Legend instead. You may also get a free Story Feat from Ultimate Campaign if it helps you flesh out your background. Ultimate Campaign is on the PRD if you want to select a story feat.
  • Cleric Domains: Players may choose their gods from the D&D Pantheon, as listed in Deities and Demigods for 3e. Yes, I'm aware that the list includes Tiamat and Llolth.
  • Player Maps: Yeah, I'm getting it that players love maps. I may purchase the two Maztican adventures available for use. One of them has to do with El Dorado, the famed City of Gold.
  • Okay so who's interested?

Colour me interested! Haven't had any experience with Greyhawk and I'd love to cut my teeth on this classic setting!

    Awesome. Anyone else?

    I'm interested.

I love Maztica! I haven't followed Greyhawk in a long time.

I am looking forward to sharpening my cutlass.

    Neat.

Let's see what I can get.

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 3) + 7 = 11
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 4) + 7 = 17
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 5) + 7 = 15
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 6) + 7 = 18
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 1) + 7 = 11
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 5) + 7 = 16

That is definitely a solid set of rolls.

    I think I will be a Picaroon.

    Insnare wrote:

    That's kinda nice, actually.

How about a cleric of Pholtus?

Terevalis Unctio of House Mysti wrote:

Sure, why not. Although Pholtites tend to be, well, you know; uncaring of other deities. "No other gods besides Pholtus!" is their motto.

Might as well throw some dice, see what comes up.

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 4) + 7 = 17

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 2) + 7 = 12

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 3) + 7 = 16

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 2) + 7 = 15

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 5) + 7 = 14

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 5) + 7 = 14

Well that is an incredibly generous set of rolls!

    Love to throw the dice...

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 6) + 7 = 15
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 2) + 7 = 10
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 2) + 7 = 14
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 5) + 7 = 16
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 4) + 7 = 17
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 3) + 7 = 15

    Not bad!

    Nope, not bad at all.

Will this be in Maztica or in Greyhawk? What would starting gold be?

    Insnare wrote:

    Greyhawk. Standard roll-em.

    Ok, 5d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 3, 3) = 16x10 is 160

    Consider me interested as well.

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 1) + 7 = 14
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 2) + 7 = 13
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 4) + 7 = 14
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 5) + 7 = 16
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 5) + 7 = 13
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 2) + 7 = 12

Are there any alignment restrictions you have?

Nope. You can be as evil as Francisco Pizzaro.

Hmmmmm, Time for an Evil character???? Interesting.

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 2) + 7 = 12
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 4) + 7 = 17
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 5) + 7 = 17
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 1) + 7 = 11
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 1) + 7 = 12
    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 2) + 7 = 13

Any restrictions qualms about a Dhampire undead lord cleric... Maybe an evil witch... I'll have to think

I've got a few ideas (vigilante cabalist, shaman speaker of past, possessed ancestor oracle, among others)

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 1) + 7 = 12

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 2) + 7 = 15

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 1) + 7 = 14

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 3) + 7 = 13

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 4) + 7 = 13

    2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 4) + 7 = 15

Well, since the natives think we are the devil. No, seriously, I think the conquistadors ran the full spectrum of alignments. I can see somebody deliberately killing people with small pox. Even though Small Pox ran through the Aztecs like a knife through butter.

I'm not planning on killing everyone says with a wicked smile To play on the side that's not good is more interesting... for once.

But I won't be that evil.

Also, since the natives of both North and South America have myths of the SKinwalker would you consider letting me play as this race?

    10000 posts yay!!!!!

Can I buy a pistol or will that have to wait?

I really wished I could play a jaguar knight from Maztica.

Hmm, evil characters? Not my bag. I'll bow out.

    Alright.

My character will be Chaotic. I'm looking at either the cat people or the Skinwalkers... If the GM says that they are okay.

You can be catfolk. You coming from the old world to the new. Skinwalkers may not apply as conquistadors.

    What about my question?

    Insnare wrote:

About your picaroon buying a pistol? Sure. Just make sure you get a feat that allows you grit somewhere.

A swashbuckler has a Grit class feature, it is called panache. Ok I will have it set up tomorrow.

    Right. Looking forward to it.

Alright looks good. Anyone else want to join in? This is your chance to wipe out a civilization that murders captives and commits human sacrifice.

When are we going to kick this off?

    I am going to withdraw.

    Alright.

I'd like to kick it off today.

Well since I have not heard anything...I am going to assume that I did not get in. Good luck to everyone that made the cut.

I didn't see anything, Nymz Mlezziir, so you're still in.

    SWEET!
Sorry since I did not get a response from my question on Friday...I figure I was too late. Will finish up the character tonight then.

I think I am ready to go.

Aright, for those interested in playing, you can dot on the gamethread, it's up and going.

A ton of (very exciting) work just fell on my lap, so I am going to avoid signing up for any new games for the time being... Have fun!
