have to say that the Rogue Trader will probably not allow his ship modified with Orky Tech at the risk of being blown by any and all Imperial ships in the vicinity.
I thought so, but maybe a little bit. As in "emergency repair" and "just a little 'biz 'ere and 'ter ta make it go red-painted 'an more Dakka"? ^^
Are imperial scanners that good that they can scan for ork tech in a big rogue trader ship full of xeno artefacts? Just asking, if you say nono its fine, I'll have more time "Fr my own bizz!" :-)Thought it hilarious to have a ork chief mechanic on a rogue trader ship, but maybe that was a bit to much lolz ^^
Bte. Ork characteristics are f%~#ed up compared to Kroot and Human ones ... You trade two +5's for two -10, one -15 and two -5's compared to humans. A bit harsh isn't it? But well ... You have to pay a prize to play a green brute with lots and lots of lolz I think? ;-)

Some bullet points before I write the actual history.
- Khalid's name literally means 'Eternal servant of the powerful one of the stars' in old dialect, and he bears it with a reason. He's over four centuries old, and has served the dynasty ever since he was a lowly guide in a factorum.
- He is fiercely devoted to the family, and has been a councillor and a guide, the current scion being the thirteenth in a row. He's seen them fall, he's seen them retire, and he's always there with advice.
- He's not as infirm, both mentally or physically, as he appears to be. The rejuvenat treatments the family provides, while quite expensive, have left him in a decent physical shape. While not as physically active as he was two centuries ago, he might start training again, especially for such a promising young (they're ALL young) scion.
- He's a personal friend with many Disciples of Thule, though most of them have passed away with time. Still with a friend or two kicking, they're responsible for the archeotech upgrade in his skull, which lets him function, compartmentalising information, and letting him keep old memories without going insane. The 'mainstream' Mechanicus might take interest in him, and/or the headgear.
- He's slowly reaching the end of his (un)natural life, building significant resistance to rejuvenat treatments. While still in decent shape, he doesn't have more than two or three decades left, if that. While he's quite acceptant of the fact, he has a desire to see the stars, feel the thrills once more, and do at least one great act for the dynasty. Part to prove his worth, and part to put his mind at ease, that it wouldn't go to the Abyss without him there.
-----------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: Something I'd like to explore with the character is the effects of downtime and lack of practice. In game terms, he might once have been the story-wise equivalent of ranks 5 and above, but he's way past his prime.
He's by no means as good as he once was, and possibly would never be. He'll be telling stories of the old days, of stealing untold riches and performing masterful feats of deception, combat prowess, and cunning. As any old man, however, he might be a bit prone to overselling it a bit, and the truth might not be the same as the legend.
I'd also like to work with the Rogue Trader and their dynasty, so I can tell amusing anecdotes about how their great-great-great-grandmother accidentally dropped an archeotech power sword in a trash compactor, or something like that.

Holding off on an Alias
Nimina Or 'Mina.
Nimina is tall, fierce and her body shows the marks of extended abuse and beatings.
Nimina shoots things mostly, or hits things, with a side-line in breaking into things or wilderness survival.
She's fearlessly loyal, and creatures really do have to be scary to put a fear into her, though she's also weak willed and easily influenced (does that count as what do you bring the team?).
Also I'm 34, and from Britain, I hesitate to say United Kingdom any more as we seem to be less and less united as we go on.

Hexa'SkruwDriva |
SkruwDriva is an orkmek with dna-coded technological abilities and a well developed ability to smash out teeth and also near-suicidal driving (and later also flyer) capabilities, so he will provide crazy ork tech, an action-filled speed-ride to a destination of your choice in 'da loudest and reddest vehicle 'tere is and some melee muscle and orkish-damage-soak.
Beside that he will provide lots of crazy RP moments and possible ork-connections for the trader in charge.
Eventually he will become an actual Orkmek, creating ever crazier things from 'da bizz we looz - think a Mechanicus Magos gone mad and on speed.
Maybe a word why he would follow a "hummie": As long as there is enough loot and things to create (and destroy with said things) he would follow anyone after he was kicked out from his Klan. So a technological-fixated mercanary with megalomania.
Khalid Abd al-Qadir al-Shihab |
The old man put down his walking cane, exhausted from the long climb. Despite the elevator being fixed three hundred seventy four years ago, he still made the climb every time he had the chance. The Navigator was always so welcoming to let him sit and drink in peace, whenever no work was being done there. Such a nice young noble.
He pulled out a worn thermos, the icon of the Omnissiah still visible, but the words under it worn. They rarely made such quality stuff these days. He pulled a cup from somewhere in his baggy robes, sniffed the cocktail of herbs, then drank a small sip, revealing the few loose teeth in his mouth. Whenever someone stared at the stars, they saw futures. Khalid usually saw history, especially nowadays.
That one, over there. RSP.440.5.16-a, and the jungle planet under it. He closed his eyes. He remembered the grin on the Captain's face as he posed for the painting. Foot on the head of a terrifying cat-like beast the size of a horse, a hole between the six eyes. And the young one does have his eyes.
He opened his eyes, taking another sip, eyes turning towards the Maw. He smiled, remembering his first time through the storm. The thunderous shaking and the writhing cries outside. The bridge, different that it is now. His fingers gripping the Lord-Captain's chair, muttering prayers to the Omnissiah, the Emperor and Sanguinius. The Lord-Captain grinning like a madwoman, telling him that Dusk Heartwood doesn't come cheap. He sat back further on the bench.
Scintilla. Chasing a cat-thief on the spires, grapnel in hand. Iocanthus. Pulling out a thirty-kilogram libram to quote an ancient law, and the crimson face of the Magistrate. The Pass. Three scars from ork blastas.
He smiled, finishing his tea. It was time to finally head back to Koronus, and knowledge is only good when it's fresh. You learn while you live, and he wasn't dead yet. He nodded at the kind three-eyed host. This one, surely has his parent's eye!, the old man though, grinning a gap-toothed grin to nobody but himself, as he began the 9734 steps heading down.
ULTRAGEEK |
I was wondering, could I play my character (in fluff) as once being a member of the Dark Mechanicus? This would be the source of his machine parts, and he reveres the Machine god as a normal tech-priest would when people are around, but when they aren't looking, he practices heresy? If not, he'll be a ex-member who is simply slightly tainted, but believes that the omnissiah is like what most tech priests believe
