Hi all,
My apologies, this last week has been... stressful. I had to fly to another state to deal with a family issue. My father had to undergo a semi-routine medical procedure, but he had some sort of breakdown during the procedure. The doctors suspect it's from the anesthetic, it's put him in a state of dementia. We're hoping he will recover, but the week was extremely busy and very draining. I spent most of last night and today sleeping.
I'll try to get back to posting this week, as soon as I have energy to GM.

GM is confused.
Are you splitting up, or going in one group?
If splitting up, I need to know who's working on the kidnapping, and who's working on the G-Ray guy.
If you're working on one then the other, as one group, I need to know which you're investigating first.
Would it help if we designated a 'team lead' to make final decisions on stuff like this?

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Janice is going to the crime scene, and Pixie and Mud were planning to as well. Not sure what Drider's up to, but at 3/4 we might as well send the whole team and leave Drider as a second lookout.

Let's all go to both. However, some of us may just stay nearby. We should probably develop times and places to regroup if we split up, but I don't know if we've thought that far ahead yet.
For example, Mud will stay within line of sight of the Victim's House unless something loud or obvious happens to signal trouble for the inside team. The other three are going in close.
Also, if the Streetwise check wants to take us to meet a boss that requires a pat down by his guards, Drider should probably not go in too close. She can find a hiding spot nearby.
A team lead would be great. I nominate Janice if she wants it. She's the eldest and is taking charge already.

Just checking in! I know everything slows down on this site in december.

mdt |

Less about it being December and more about me flying to Rochester every week for the first 3 weeks of December, and dealing with the father thing, and the wife thing, and the car thing, and the diabetes thing (fortunately minor at this point).

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Sure; but we the players have most likely been more busy for the last few weeks as well (I know I have) so no worries.

Pixie! |

I'm just glad to hear from you, GM, I was worried you'd vanished.

"Mud" Adam Storn |

MDT
Feel free to start the G-Ray streetwise encounter. We might be losing momentum.
Drider can deside in which scene she wants to be. She can be shadowing/ hiding on a rooftop while Mud walks the street.
Cheers

Just a note, if we have lost Pixie (no posting by January 1), how do you guys want to handle it? Continuing with 3 is a recipe for a dead game. I doubt anyone will want to switch from a very active game to a less active game. The last option would be to see if we can combine the tables. That would put us up to 8 in one game which is a bit high, but manageable. I could do a recruitment, also, depends really on how you guys want to handle it.

Pixie! |

Hey, I'm sorry! You haven't lost me, I just was busy with the holiday season and all, and it can be tricky to get back into habits.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Note to all my games: My monitor just broke, which means I don't have normal internet connection. It'll be 1-2 weeks before it's fixed, so expect slower posting.

mdt |

Sorry to hear that.
Pixie, We're still waiting on you.
HOlidays are over with, we're moving forward. If Pixie doesn't post in the next day or two in game thread, we'll move on without her.
Let's get things back on track people.

mdt |

Patiently waiting on Pixie and Drider. If people don't start posting more regularly now that the holidays are over with, this game is going to die from lack of participation. Please make an attempt to post at least 2-3 times a week?

Pixie! |

I've been checking about once a day, but no one had posted until today, so...

"Mud" Adam Storn |

We need to reset posting expectations.
If we can post more frequently, a three player game can survive. However, it is much more sensitive to player absence.
Lack of momentum kills Pbp.
cheers

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

I'd be down. We could definitely use more energy.

"Mud" Adam Storn |

Would love more players.
Could you tell us why the other 2 players are leaving?
Cheers

"Mud" Adam Storn |

Drider and Chess? Chess got too busy to play, and Drider stopped posting on the boards a month ago. I don't have a reason for Drider.
Huh? I thought we (including Drider and Chess) were table 2.
Hotaru said 2 players left from table 1. I was asking about their players. I thought Hotaru was suggesting combining tables. If not, I'm confused.
cheers

mdt |

No, Hotaru and companion are playing in the other game, and are looking for another game on the boards to play in, and wanted to know if you guys would object to them playing in both games. 'Looking for another game' as in 'three of my games died, and I need another game', not 'looking for another game' as in 'tired of this game need another game'.

"Mud" Adam Storn |

Ah! I see the light bulb.
Of course I vote yes. We need more activity in this game.
New characters would help us fill our exceptional non-com deficiencies at finding and following leads.
Cheers

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Will you guys be making new characters, or keeping the same ones?
And yeah, but we're sort of chasing a dead lead here...

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

We've currently got a Brick, Scout, and Martial Artist, each with a healthy dose of Martial Artist.
Energy Projector, Mind-Reader, Speedster, Gadgeteer, Damper, etc. are all roles that could be useful if you're trying to fit something in particular.

"Mud" Adam Storn |

A face would be good. A detective. Someone with resources.
Sounds like I'm describing Batman...

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Wait but I'm supposed to be the Batman!
I just don't have tons of money or non-botanical forensics.

Hotaru of the Society |

Looking over both of your characters, you have acting, conversation, streetwise, persuasion, and disguise all covered, with just the two of you :P
Definitely no need for another face. Though being able to talk is something I really need to work into my characters, overall. I like the sounds of their voices, even if pitchfork wielding villagers, and stupid frostbreath goggies don't.

Hotaru of the Society |

Maybe, but, with a Conversation 13-, you fail a little under 16% of the time. That means, that if you opt to complement each other's efforts, you can reliably control conversations and move them towards your advantage. And 13- is basically what all of your talking is. Snap has a few 14-, which is a fail on fewer than 9% of all rolls, when they apply. Seriously. You guys have a crazy good shot of diplomacying any average mook. I'm sure there's a sense motive equivalent to make it a bit harder (or even just conversation v conversation?), but at an 8-, there's only a ~25% chance of them succeeding at all. And the success by a margin just gets lower. (Their chance of getting a Success by 1 is roughly your chance of -not- getting at least a margin of 1.)
I'm leaning towards the character not being a face 'on the field', while fighting and the like at the very least. The character I had in mind initially definitely doesn't cover any bases that aren't already, other than a bit of mechanical know-how. The newer concept can fill in on that role (and has lots of growth on that side of things, if MDT can finagle the sorts of stuff I'm hoping for). It should be a really neat character, though I'm also sort of tugging the character in three different directions at once with it... complementary directions but it will reduce the effectiveness of any single portion, I think.
We'll see, depending on if Pixie is interested in us joining or not, and mdt having time. :)

mdt |

If you guys didn't have such good conversation rolls, you'd not have gotten anything out of the neighborhood drunks. You're outsiders, one of you is white, and you're asking questions like a cop or worse, one of the rich guys hired thugs...
...but you managed to talk them around to a small bribe ($20 would have done it, $60 was overkill).

Beginner's luck! The characters have never been detectives before (or at least Mud, Drider and Pixie. Thought Janice was a forensic tech).
Maybe spoiler a Streetwise (or appropriate skill) check for the GM expectation of a reasonable bribe.
cheers

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Janice is a forensic botanist. She solves cases that involve evidence or infiltration; she didn't want to go after this one at all because it seemed like the only one she didn't have them skills to help with.

Pixie! |

I can't really do any face stuff as Pixie. When she's full-sized, she's not Pixie, she's Faye. It's right there on her character sheet; the transformation to make her small includes the costume change to secret identity and back. So she has to stay small while on the job, which would make dealing with civilians awkward...

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

I think Mud's just sad right now that he can't read minds.
And yeah, New Orleans.

Hotaru of the Society |

As we wait for verification from Pixie as to the amount of cares she has for us joining, I also realize MDT may be a bit slower to get to building my character... given that he had closed recruitment for his Shadowrun game not ten minutes before I found it. Hopefully character creation for that is simpler than Heroes. I find myself spending five-to-six hours just reading things and thinking of possibilities. :p

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

You could also do what I did, and shadow-build your character and then let him fix all your terrible mistakes. That might actually take more work, hmm.
