I have no problem with her trying to escape, but, if she's not going to try to go straight, I'm not sure she's going to work in the game. The whole point of a super hero game is.. well, being hero's. If she's going to insist on being a thief and stealing from people then... well, she's not really a hero, right?
If you ever watched the show Leverage, they were all theives and grifters and con men, but they all had to put that behind them.
Caitlyn could certainly figure out something to float off the island, but she has no skills, so it would likely sink after a day or two, leaving her floating in the ocean, and drowning shortly thereafter.
How do you want to handle this? The character has to have some reason to go straight, and as you wrote her, the only thing I could see was being forced to. If she absolutely won't go straight no matter what, there's not a whole lot I can do with that in a heroic game.

mdt |

Ok, so Caitlyn's officially quit, so we will not need to wait for her intro to complete. That leaves just Jack to finish up, so I'll try to move him on in after his next post.

Pixie! |

Are we going to try and get a replacement, or..?

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Or have "crossover issues!" Imagine the quips!

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Go for it, Hotaru. But I haven't gotten any of the good puns in yet.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

So... looks like the majority of the party now speaks conversational Mandarin. Wacky!
@Drider: Spider silk could be a good costume fabric for all of us; it's very stretchy, but also extremely resistant to damage.
@All: Anyone else have more questions for the grownups? Janice is a chatterbox, but she's pretty much asked hers.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Janice, Jack, and Chess all speak it. Just a fun fact.

mdt |

Whenever you guys are ready, we'll move to a more vignette format for the coming weeks, to move forward with the story.
But for now, I'll let you decide how much to push that.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

He does not shop there.
Oh, no; that's a picture of a character from Arrow who everyone calls "Abercrombie" because he is clearly made out of Abercrombie
I'm always a fan of montages, but Janice did introduce herself first, so I definitely figure everyone else should get to the point where they've made the introductions/comments they want to.
Also, full disclosure: I'm not a botanist, but I did work in a pollen genetics lab for two years in undergrad.

"Jedi" Jack Straw |

Sorry, I missed that pop culture reference. I don't live in the US nor have much exposure with Colton' generation. I just remembered him from Arrow.
I'm OK to fast forward. We can work out the development of our characters' relationships in Discussion and/or PM. Then, we can narrate those relationships evolving between vignettes. Potentially, we can do the same with the NPCs if MDT agrees.
As a base, Jack does not accept being a Metahuman and believes that he can use the Force; he must have a high midi-chlorian count. Nothing will shake that belief, so please don't confront him about it unless you want their relationship to turn sour. Rolling your characters' eyes or smiling when he talks of the Force is alright. If you want a better relationship with him, then you should support his delusion.
He is quite Zen/Hindu about accepting where the universe/Force wants him to be and do. And he believes that place is here with you. He is generally cheerful and sincerely wants to help make the world a better place. On the other hand, he is an introvert, so he won't go beyond polite to engage your characters.
Please let me know how you think your character would engage with Jack and where their relationship would evolve. I've some ideas but have already written more than my quota this morning.
cheers

Jack,
So you're aware. Bolt will never just let it slide, and will always patiently but firmly correct Jack that he's not a Jedi. Pixie, she'd do the same thing to you, except saying you aren't a fairy.
Gridlock, on the other hand, will roll his eyes with both, and comment something to the general effect of not giving a flying **** what you are, Jedi, Fairy, Alien, Plant, or Imaginary Friend, as long as you pay attention and don't get killed.
Various other members will react in varying degrees along that axis.

Pixie! |

Well, Pixie doesn't exactly believe that she's a fairy or anything, but there might be some friction if Bolt, or someone else, insists on getting her to use her powers without the locket.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Janice just wants to quote Shakespeare, make puns, and sequence everyone's DNA.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Hmm. Most of what Janice does involves stretching her form in a particular direction; repeatedly punching as hard as she can, hiding in shadows, etc. would probably be enough to learn most of her powers.
Totally into a spider silk suit, though. Preferably something with holes for wings and a tail (which is what I assume her "third limb" is in vine form, unless it's, like, an avatar-style hair limb)

Pixie! |

I'm cool with moving on to training.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Luckily, Janice isn't a full shapeshifter; she's still constrained to a humanoid form, just thicker/denser and more treelike, or with a few extra appendages.
She could probably grow her own costume, but this would make turning back to human form awkward when she inevitably has shredded all of her clothing.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Chess—how old is Tien? It seems like he's the youngest party member, but Aahq might be the oldest?

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Hmm. Don't know much of Tien-Aahq's backstory, but I just assumed he was being possessed by an ancient Mongolian shaman mummy.

mdt |

If Pixie is trying to sneak up and do something to Jack, then yes, he'd get a roll.
If she was just trying to avoid him, then no, he'd not get a roll.
Mental Awareness just picks up on mental powers in the area, which Pixie doesn't have.

mdt |

Still need pictures for Pixie and Drider in the spreadsheet.
Also, please remember that after the vignettes, there will be a battle royale between the PCs and several NPCs for training. So you might want to be planning for that as well.
You know that Bolt and Gridlock will be there. Additionally, they'll be bringing in 2 other supers that will be a surprise until the last moment.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Alright; got pictures up for all of my forms (though I picture Snapdragon being mostly green rather than purple, I could only find pictures of purple plant women shapeshifting/flying).
MDT, feel free to pick your favorite one for Janice's token.

Pixie! |

Okay, so assuming Pixie lowers her speed to five, she can stay invisible for roughly half an hour, since she'll be losing one END per minute to LTE... but if she does so, she'll have exhausted herself and need several days of recovery. Got it!
Now, if we were to try and do the tag thing, would we resolve that as just OCV versus DCV, or is there anything unique about just trying to touch someone rather than hit them?

mdt |

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Pixie! |

Ooh, I like the first one. Sorry for not finding anything myself, I think I might be loading myself up with too many things to do...

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Yeah, I've grabbed it as my "flying" image. I now have six images on the spreadsheet, one for each of my six forms, and they're reasonably self-consistent; I'll probably add a seventh for "undisguised" Janice.
Use whichever you like for the icon, unless you want a preference from me, in which case Lotus or Ivy might be the best all-around.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Pixie/Jack, did you want to keep playing hide-and-seek? That seems like it might be the last training vignette people were interested in.

Pixie! |

If everyone else is ready to move on to the end, we can just handwave that scene really quick. I don't want to hold everyone up.
