Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Yeah—that can come way later.
Basically, Snapdragon needs clothing that won't rip when she transforms, and I'm guessing Mud feels the same way. It's purely cosmetic, but at a cost of less than 1 CP per character not so bad.
What do people think? I'd recommend setting aside at least 2 CP per character for a starting base with ample secrecy and enough floor space for a training room (and bedrooms for the homeless), but we can go higher if we want to start with gadgets in it.

Drider |

There's no way Drider would be able to accomplish a feat as advanced as making silk armor plate inserts so early. She's just a Tailor at the moment! To start out, she won't need more than the Lab. Once she's exposed to more metascience and the like, we can worry about making Silk Tank Cozies.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Yep. But it seems like we're budgeting points now; 4 CP per character is an 80 CP base, which gets us a LOT of fun stuff.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Hmm. If we don't ever get to meet the other Metas, there goes the "wealthy benefactor" idea. Maybe we'll just need to find jobs for everyone, then pool incomes for a base.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Err... mundane clothing, maybe. Selling the spider silk would be risky. But yeah you could Etsy it up.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

I've said my piece, but am fine with whatever transition speed/scenes etc.

Pixie! |

Yeah, I think it's fine if we move on from here. Not much more I can add to this scene.

mdt |

Your base, as it is right now, is in the link above.
So far, only 2 people have contributed points, so it's kind of plebian, but it gives you a safe place to stay. It has internet and TV and a generator, and some open grounds to explore.
I suggest you RP out as you want about the base, and also discuss what you'd like to do with it.
EXP has been handed out (see EXP in worksheet).

"Mud" Adam Storn |

MDT are you going to post an intro in Gameplay for Mud, or should he just arrive?
cheers

"Mud" Adam Storn |

Who has or hasn't contributed points to the base? Mud has.
Thanks for MDT to settle us into a place. I like it. The other group are still looking.
Since we are focusing on renovation, feel free to post one on one opportunities betwenn PCs to RP.
Cheers

Pixie! |

I don't really know how experience works in this game. Is the "Total Earned" counting the points we used to build our characters in the first place?

mdt |

Yep, starting points + exp earned = Total Earned
XP works exactly like starting points. They are spent the same way. So if you say 'I put 3 points into <blah>' it's the same as if you'd built your character with that 3 points into <blah>.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

I'm also okay banking a few of the base points (or saving them up for future tech, etc.)

"Mud" Adam Storn |

What's everyone's posting frequency? I still see the other table in my campaign log and they're prolific.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

I can try to step it up. Halloween was rough, is all.

mdt |

Bases, although bare bones, are now complete and everyone has worked hard getting them ready.
Now time to RP (And to figure out how you're going to do your jobs, someone might want to try to figure out how to find out what is going on that's weird or unexplained, cough cough cough NOPD cough cough cough).

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Oh, also, a note to all my games: I'll be donating bone marrow next week. I expect this to be mostly incapacitating wednesday-friday, but how much energy I have in the week before/after to post to games may depend on how much residual pain I'm in from the drugs/procedure etc.

"Mud" Adam Storn |

Wow. Good luck. Wish you a speedy recovery to you and the recipient.

Hotaru of the Society |

I read your intro, Snap (Finally!), and it was pretty neat!
Also... A new picture you might like.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I got bitten by a radioactive algae, and am now algae man! Also that's a cool pic.

mdt |

Sorry everyone, travelling for work again, and had a much longer Monday than I expected (it started 7AM Sunday, and I didn't get to NY and into bed until 2:30 AM Monday). I'll be a bit spotty this week and next due to the travel.
I just need to know which 'case' you are pursuing.
The next vanishing will likely be sometime in the next 3 weeks, from past history, so in other words, any day.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

We'll figure it out in that time, no worries. I'm still here, but I'll be doing the blood thing for the rest of the week.

"Mud" Adam Storn |

OK Folks, I'm taking the discussion to the Discussion. And take care of yourself Janice. I've heard that procedure is unpleasant.
For the three cases, we should identify priority and actions. Here are potential actions per case.
Case 1:
a) We can recon G-Ray's home
b) We can speak to G-Ray's family
c) We can wander around looking for a white guy in a top hat with a personal driver
Case 2, Presumably, the homicide detectives would have done these already:
a) Map out where all of the attacks were. Potentially, there's a pattern.
b) Investigate the women. Potentially, there's a pattern.
c) Do the math to create a window of opportunity for the next 3-month killing
d) Stake out the patterns during the next window of opportunity
Case 3:
a) We can recon the house
b) We can investigate the missing and her acquaintances for abnormal behavior
c) We can wander around looking for her with a picture
Did I miss any potential actions? What priority would you set?
I think we need to monitor the police scanner for 2d, while starting with 1a and 3a. After that, we can move on to 1b, 1c, 3b & 3c. Potentially, we can skip 1b if you think that's too dangerous. I think it might be an opportunity to "ally" with the gang if G-Ray's brother is worried about him, too.
cheers

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

The drugs are unpleasant too. I can actually feel my bone marrow aching! It's not quite the same as achey bones. And they make you super sleepy, which would be a nice aid to my jagged sleep schedule except my apartment had unscheduled and very loud 8 am-noon roof work and now I am le tired.
If we can get a timeline on when/where the attacks were, case 2 absolutely makes the most sense. Janice could pose as the victim, since she is a woman, and also basically immune to death from biting.

mdt |

The bodies were always found in cemetaries, usually in tombs, although once under a bridge next to a cemetary. No cemetary has been used more than once so far, and all the victims were taken within a mile of a cemetary.
The victims were, in general, those who spent a lot of time alone or who spent a lot of time moving around very early in the morning or very late. A girl who worked night shift at a gas station, a girl who jogged early every morning, a girl who partied late most weekends.
You are beginning to hear warnings on tv for women not to travel alone, and not to travel at night alone or early morning.

"Mud" Adam Storn |

Drider? Pixie? Do you have opinions about the cases?

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Yeah, I'm just having trouble keeping up with things. The serial killer case seems the most straightforward, if we can come up with a good plan for when/where we think the next attack might be.

Pixie! |

I don't really know what would be the best course of action. I mean, some of the possibilities seem obviously wrong, but you know.

"Mud" Adam Storn |

@Pixie. Which are obviously wrong? Should we flip a coin?

Pixie! |

Mostly just the "walk around town hoping to find one specific person" one. That seems like a bad idea.

"Mud" Adam Storn |

Mostly just the "walk around town hoping to find one specific person" one. That seems like a bad idea.
Really? Don't police detectives and private detectives do that? It's not very time-efficient, but it's the tool used when all else fails, right?
cheers

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

In an airport. I'll be back soon!

mdt |

Ok, so, as the GM, I just need to know what you want to do next. You can investigate any of the 3 cases, or none of them.
If you want to go after G-Ray, I need people to make some streetwise skill checks to gather information.
If you want to go after the serial killer, I need people to do some deduction checks to figure out where to start looking.
If you want to go after the missing woman, I'll need some stealth checks to investigate the house. It's currently a crime scene, so it's been taped off. From Snapdragon's case files, the boyfriend is staying with his family until the police release the scene.

Pixie! |

Maybe we should split up based on our individual strengths?

Drider |

I have a rather kick ass stealth, nothing close to Pixie's, but 15 or less is admirable. I also have conversation, though prolongs interactions with 'normal' people is the exact opposite of what Drider would like to do, given her state.

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Sorry guys! I'm back (the procedure was painful but otherwise went really well!) but prioritized catching up with the games I GM/just got accepted to. Janice can make some deductions if it makes the choice easier.

"Mud" Adam Storn |

If we split up, we should go at least in pairs for protection.
1. Mud has Streetwise 13- so can try the G-Ray check. It aligns with his belief that he is being used as a tool. MDT, is Streetwise in this case a knowledge check or a getting out and shaking the bushes? Maybe one or two of the Stealth team could watch over him, if he must shake the bushes.
2. Whoever has Deduction should just roll it in Gameplay now. It would give MDT something more to tell us.
3. The Stealth team (Pixie and Drider) have the highest Stealth, so they could check out the crime scene. FYI Snapdragon has a 14-, so it's Mud with the lowest at 12-.
cheers

Janice "Snapdragon" Li |

Snapdragon has a lot of Stealth, and also Shadowing, but that's because she's designed to tail criminals once they've been found, not find them in the first place. (Also, because she's kind of the bard of this game—able to do a bit of everything)
Mud, you might be able to use Streetwise to aid Stealth in this case, or vice-versa.
* * *
I've been avoiding training Deduction for now because, while Snapdragon might be a bit of an enhanced supergenius, her background and training is as someone about as smart as I am, and that makes it easy to know her limits of deduction.

"Mud" Adam Storn |

MDT
When you're ready, I think we're all going to the kidnap victim's house. At least, Pixie is going in for a look-see. Snapdragon will advise her. Mud is far away within line of sight of the house, so the high stealth PCs can signal him with a direct flashlight if there's trouble that he doesn't see enough to bring him running.
Also, does the Streetwise check for G-Ray require asking around or is it a knowledge roll?
cheers
