Franti briefly peaks his head into the residence. He hadn't expected any resistance at Anevia's abode, and was in a way relieved that he had yet to hear shrieks of pain, agony, or suffering. The fool's smile fades. "Um, how're you all doing in there?"

Tauni listened for an answer to Franti's query, shooting the jester a grimace that showed her worry. Finding some comfort in his presence, she silently mouthed to him "I'm glad you stayed with us." She shifted her crossbow to one hand so she could absent-mindedly stroke Cobblepaw's head.

Karas waited and watched the reaction from the room. Something didn't feel right but he couldn't put a finger on it. He was going to allow Anevia to go through the door next but if combat started he was ready to pull the lame archer out of danger.

After the door is pushed open, no more thumps are heard.

With everyone waiting and watching anxiously, Ellena squeezed into the room. A large chest of drawers had been left blocking the door.

Ellena:
Ellena sees a double bed at the north end of the small room. Her eyes are immediately drawn to a grisly sight in the bed, a humanoid body under a bloody sheet. Next to the bed are some weapons and a shield and helmet such as a crusader might use and also a shortbow, short sword, and some leather armor.

After Ellena had forced her way into the room, Anevia looked in and gave out a strangled cry, pulled her head back out and collapsed to the floor sobbing.

Wenduag was the first to respond, moving in to back up Ellena, fearing something evil.

As her odd form left the main room, a spark leaped up next to Anevia and quickly took the form of a small humanoid and attacked her by slamming into her prone form, sparks crackling.

Karas turned at the surprise of the elemental and stepped around Anevia as his rage took shape before lashing out at the creature.

Hearing the commotion inside, Tauni slipped inside the door and to one side. Quickly taking in the scene, she raised her crossbow and fired a bolt at the elemental.

Tauni's crossbow bolt went through the nimbus of light cast by the sparks of the elemental's crackling form, overshooting due to the need to make sure her shot did not err on the low side and hit the prone Anevia.

Franti's blunt arrow glanced off the outsider's head. 2 non-lethal

Anarya:
Anarya's studies of the elemental plane of air taught her that such creatures are immune to electricity, not surprisingly. They are, like all elementals, immune to bleed, paralysis, poison, sleep, and stunning. They are not subject to precision damage, such as sneak attack damage, nor to critical hits and flanking. These lightning creatures are more effective (+3 to hit) when attempting to attack or do combat maneuvers on foes who are wearing metal armor or wielding metal weapons.

"It has no anatomy, so no weak spots. Aim for center of mass!" Anarya called out, remembering learning about conjured elementals in her schooling. No precision damage, flanking, or stunning on this thing. I don't think any of our attacks affect its other immunities.

Sorry, but I forgot that this elemental has 2 points of DR. So Karas only did 5 damage and Franti's arrow did not do any damage.

Ellena tried to reach around the door jam to attack the elemental, but the attack didn't come close.

Anevia, completely caught by surprise and still in shock from something she saw in the other room, managed to draw her short sword but otherwise curled up to try to keep herself safe. Full Defense action.

Wenduag ran over to the bed in the other room and yanked down the sheet that covered the body in the bed. A flurry of flies exploded from the corpse on the bed. "The body is a man, not a woman!" she called out, eliciting a sob of relief from Anevia.

The small elemental ignored the much greater threat from Karas and Ellena and again attacked Anevia.

Despite her being attempt to protect herself, the outsider slammed into her. A strand of forked lightning found her metal sword and raced along the blade to shock her again.

Karas remembers a snippet of intense debate he had with Terendelev about the power of goodness to hurt evil creatures. "The goodness that is within you can cut demons to their black hearts, even when others can't harm them."

Karas: be sure to specify which alignment your claws acquired: Law or Good. I assume it's good in this case.

Anarya is up, but others may post if they don't need to see the results of the PCs who act before they do.

If making ranged attacks, be sure to apply the penalty for shooting into melee, if you don't have the precise shot feat. Remember to check for figures that might provide cover from ranged attack. Ellena will take a -4 penalty if she attacks the elemental from the doorway, due to the hard corner.

Anarya snapped her fingers at the elemental. "Do not touch her!" she commanded. The crackling spark felt a sudden presence interfering with its actions.

As the battle raged on, Tauni tried to thread another bolt through her allies and diffuse the elemental.

Franti dropped his bow to the floor as his arrow entered the elemental, passing through it without any apparent damage. He hopped over the table, drawing his saps as he approached. "Wanna play that way, huh?" Gripping his leather weapon, the goblin fool lunged forward, flailing at the cloud.

Avelina fumed quietly in her corner, for once taking heart in the thought that nobody is paying attention to her.

"Ugh, why does this never work the first time...."

She straightened her back as she breathed in deeply.

"Now...TREMBLE before the Word of the Inheritor, elemental!"

As Anarya cast something on the elemental, Tauni's crossbow bolt smacked the wall above it without hitting. Franti scored a direct hit with his sap, the kind that normally knocked out most creatures. Hitting its head seemed to be no more effective than hitting its torso, however. Franti noticed that some of the momentum of his sap seemed to bleed away as the weapon made contact. He got a sense that there was some powerfully evil protection on it that Franti's mundane weapon could not affect.

More spell energy crackled through the stale air in the house as Avelina assailed the sparky outsider with disruptive magic. Anarya's had set the creature on an ill-fated course and as it tried to resist the sonic damage from Avelina's spell, it failed and a vibration surged through its body, causing it to emit a crackle of thunderlike displeasure. Then it vanished, leaving only the strong smell of ozone. 6 points of damage.

Ellena moved in front of Anevia. "It's only attacking you. It must be some sort of trap. Get behind me," she called out, ducking down behind her gleaming shield, as she brandished Radiance.

I forgot that the door into the bedroom is still somewhat blocked by the dresser and so Ellena would have to squeeze back through to get out to protect Anevia. She probably could not have effectively attacked with the door opening so limited, but she missed her attacks anyway, so no harm. I'm assuming Ellena moved to the east of Anevia, who is still prone. I'm also going to assume Ellena has a readied action to attack anything that tries to attack her or her allies.

As Anevia got back to her feet, bruised and burned, Ellena squeezed out of the bedroom door again and past her into the main room, watching for new enemies. Anevia stepped back into the corner, short sword again in her hand.

Wenduag continued to look through the bedroom, trying to detect any traps or undiscovered threats.

Then, the air shimmered in the spot just vacated by Anevia. In that spot appeared a giant frog. It had shiny red skin, with razor sharp teeth and faintly glowing red eyes, suggesting a fiendish nature. It immediately attempted to bite Anevia. Before it could do so, however, Ellena reeled and drove her longsword into the back of the creature, causing gouts of blood to add another shade of red to the creatures slimy back. She felt a little bit of the extra power she put into her thrust get canceled out just before the blade entered flesh. Anevia tried to stab it with her short sword, but failed to connect.
6 points damage.

The creature's jaws bit into Anevia, after which it tried to hold her in its mouth, but Anevia was quick enough that she wriggled free. 7 points damage.

Tauni:
Tauni recognizes this creature as a giant frog, normally native to temperate or warm marshes and lakes. This one was apparently summoned, however, from the abyssal plane, with fiendish qualities. She knows that in addition to its sharp teeth and powerful jaws it can grab prey either with its sticky tongue or by gripping it in its jaws. Once so grabbed, the prey is in danger of being swallowed whole. As a fiendish animal, she knows it has darkvision, resistance to cold and fire, and the smite good ability.

Karas took advantage of his position right next to the frog. His claws flashed and dug deep into the vital organs of the creature. Heartbeats later, the frog faded as quickly as it arrived.

Tauni:
Tauni scans the room and all looks the same until she looks to her left and there, standing on the table in the corner, is a statue of a gargoyle. At least it looks like a gargoyle at first glance. After a moment, she notices slight movements indicating it is alive. It appears to be a human, perhaps a half-orc, wearing robes and a head piece that at first glance appears to be armor and also some features of the stony humanoids, but is merely cloth fashioned to resemble armor. In one hand is a ranseur, a trident-like spear.

Don't post anything revealing anything until Anarya has posted, since she acts before Tauni. Also, your profile doesn't list any spells in the spells prepared area for 2nd level spells. Be sure to specify the spells prepared prior to melees. When I run a spell caster with spell slots that have to be prepared, I put a line through the spells that have been cast.

After Anarya posts, Franti will need to repost, as the target he attacked is no more. Also Franti may want to wait until after Tauni has made a follow-up post completing her turn.

Tauni gasped when she looked to her left. She seemed shocked by something on the table next to her, when the table is apparently empty. She jerked her dagger from its sheathe and cried out "Help! An unseen foe!" Her outstretched dagger seemed to be warding an enemy atop the table, where her gaze was fixed.

The dagger is assuming it wasn't a move action to scan the room. If it was, she'll just point her crossbow instead.

Wenduag set about pushing the dresser that had been impeding movement through the door, giving a mighty push. The dresser slid and she moved into the open door to see how she could help.

As Ellena was asking Tauni to show her where to attack, an arcane word was uttered by someone near the SE corner of the room. A moment later the room filled with a stinking mist.

Tauni:
Tauni saw the invisible guy cast a spell (defensively). The spell was stinking cloud, which became obvious a moment later. The caster became visible and moved between Tauni and Ellena and out the front door of the house. Tauni could not make an AOO because she was nauseated.

The mist obscured everything that was further than 5 feet away, even for those with darkvision. What's worse, the stink caused Ellena, Karas, Tauni, and Anevia to be nauseated.

Creatures with the nauseated condition experience stomach distress. Nauseated creatures are unable to attack, cast spells, concentrate on spells, or do anything else requiring attention. The only action such a character can take is a single move action per turn.

Any creature that succeeds on its save but remains in the cloud must continue to save each round on your turn. This is a poison effect. So those not nauseated must move completely out of the cloud on this current turn to avoid having to make another saving throw (Fort, DC 16) to avoid becoming nauseated.

Use this information as you make your movement through the cloud, using the information in the spoiler of the square you move into to help you decide where to move next.

Ellena:
Ellena sees a large man, possibly in armor, move past her carrying a spear with a 3 pronged tip, like a trident. She is nauseated so she cannot make an AOO. He moves to the square right in front of the door and then vanishes into the mist. Ellena can see Tauni and Karas are also nauseated and Anarya is not. All squares around Ellena are filled with the stinking cloud.

Karas:
All squares around Karas are fill with the cloud. Anevia and Ellena are nauseated, the others are not.

Anarya:
Anarya saw a large man, possibly wearing armor, carrying a spear or trident move through (6,2) and then vanish into the mist. If she had a ready weapon out, she could attempt an AOO with a 20% miss chance, but I don't think she specified drawing a weapon yet.

Frant:
All squares surrounding Franti are filled with mist. He can see Karas and Anevia are nauseated.

Coming off delay

Avelina, already on high-alert, was quick to cover her mouth and turn away. Keeping one hand on her mouth, she followed the eastern wall by touch, hoping to go out the door and escape this fog..

Ellena can't see anything, but she remembered Tauni calling out where the invisible creature was hiding. She attempted to slowly make her way to the table where her friend pointed.

DM, I think this should probably be spoilered, since no one knows what anyone else is doing. Ellen a will move to the spot where she saw the armored man, to try and find his trail again. She doesn't call out, not wanting to spook him.

Ellena:
If she wants to follow him, she should go toward the door and out, although she won't be able to tell which way he went from there. If she goes out the door, she still finds mist in all directions.

Avelina may give Ellena some idea depending on which way she goes and what she learns and says as a result. I would wait for Avelina to post and then Ellena can either move as Avelina directs once out of the house or go other directions. If she goes other directions, check the appropriate spoiler in my previous post and that will tell you what Ellena sees.

Oh! I'm so sorry for going out of order! It was late last night and I somehow read Ellena as Avelina >_<

Avelina continued to move through the cloud, keeping her mouth covered as best she could, though she did briefly pause to give her companions an Obviously Necessary Update onto her status.

"I got out the door okay, everyone! Praise the Inheritor! I'll let you know when I find the edge of the cloud."

Avelina will continue heading east from the door until she is out of the cloud, double moving if she has to. She's used 4 squares of movement thus far.
