My apologies all, I have had an unexpected house guest for the last while and had no time to post. Getting posts up now. Thank you for your patience.

Kessa |
Hey guys,
I just wanted to let you know that I'm withdrawing from this game. I just don't get a sense of this character and her place in the world coming together for me. I hope that all of you have fun, and that I'll see all of you on the boards. Big Joe, thanks for your willingness to run something for us when our previous game fell through.

Delixia Valane |

We just lost Kessa and has anyone heard from Orin? It's been a month since he's posted, not sure if we've lost him too. Should we pick up some new recruits if so?
GM, your thoughts? What size table do you typically like to run with?

![]() |

will have limited computer/internet access from July 8 - 20, so please feel free to bot my character during this time. I will try to check in as I can, but posting will be sporadic and probably very short.

I vote for recruitment. This has been quite fun, but I think a few more players would be welcomed.
If you need some help finding people, let me know.

Delixia Valane |

I am up for recruiting one or two more players with input from all players on selecting the participant(s) if that is what you wish to do.
GM - I've reviewed all of the applicants. There are three that stand out to me as my favorites. I'll PM you the details.

Hi everyone, happy to be here! Carrion Crown is an AP that I dipped a toe into some years ago, but then the GM had to drop it due to RL entanglements. It had me intrigued and I loved the eerie mystery of it, so I am very pleased to have a chance to play it again.
About me - I'm 36 years old, living in the Netherlands with my partner and our small zoo (3 cats, one dog, 9 ant queens). I work in video game development for an AAA studio, managing the testing of our projects and occasionally making programmers cry. I started playing tabletop RPGs when D&D still had THAC0, but play-by-post I've only been playing for 6 years or so. I enjoy the opportunities for storytelling and character development that play-by-post offers, but I also enjoy the banter and tension of a live session (I GM a Rise of the Runelords campaign with my minions from work).
It's the first time that I play a monk, so if I make mistakes, or if you have suggestions for the mechanical character development, please let me know. Additionally, English is not my first language, so please forgive the occasional misuse of idioms or any weird phrasing. Here as well I am happy to receive corrections and suggestions.

Delixia Valane |

I love you have ant queens in your pet listing ;) I see no problems with your English at all so far. Most Americans are terrible at our own language anyway, I doubt we'll even notice!
Welcome aboard Smaranda!

Greeting, salutations, salubriations, felicitations and inebriations!
I've been playing and GMing for over 20 years now, running and playing regularly on PbP boards for 11 years now. I think I recognize a few of you here (waves at Delixia and Mihaela <gesundheit>). I run a few PbPs on the paizo boards (as GM Bigrin) and play in a couple of others. I also both run and play in VTT games on a monthly basis.
I don't have any ant queens (except for whatever is currently infesting my backyard) but I do have 2 children, who bite about as often and are also addicted to sweets.
So, again, thank you for the consideration and I look forward to keeping you all balanced on the brink of life and death as our sanity is slowly stripped from our minds by the horrors we face on a regular, nay daily, basis!

GM, may I ask why the skeletons have individual initiatives? It seems to me that interspersing PC and enemy initiative like this could draw out combat as we wait for people to post. Would it make more sense to have all the skeletons act on one turn?

![]() |

I space them out because I don't want to have any one player get overwhelmed by a horde of mindless skeletons because they get themselves into a bad spot. My goal is for everyone to have fun and not feel like I am out to slaughter you. Death is an ever present threat but not one that I intentionally aim for.
If the group as a whole would prefer bunched initiative I would be willing to do that but it must be a group choice.

![]() |

I was actually thinking about spacing mine out more in games I run, for the reason you mention. I am running a Giantslayer game with many, many orcs, and them going all at once can have a huge impact. However, I am happy to go with either method.

Thistle Winton |

As a Giantslayer GM, I can say right now that any time you have more than 3 mobs going on the same initiative, you have a HIGH potential to roll a PC under. I normally break mine up in groups of 2-4. Giantslayer is actually pretty good about this, because most of their group combats are multiple patrols of 4.

Yep, except I have a party of all dwarves that decided to check out 3 things at once... wow, is that chaos! But great fun, and they seem to be handling it. There are 7 of them, though, so they are already well over the power necessary. I figured we would lose a few due to normal attrition, but so far they all play strong. :)

![]() |

All dwarves vs. a whole lot of orcs. I bet they are loving it right now. I can just see the sparkle in their eyes and the grins on their faces as their hammers and axes hew into the ranks of orcs.
It makes me miss the Giant Slayer game I was a part of irl. It ended due to the GM stepping away from the game.

Well, apparently the lake house within a 10 minute drive of Ft Worth had ZERO internet. Being without internet for 5 days was both a blessing and a curse (mostly curses). I am leaving tomorrow for another trip, but this time I *should* have internet enough for 1/day posting. In the meantime, I am going to catch up on my games. Thanks for the understanding.

Fair warning: I will be attending and GMing at GenCon this year. I will be mostly out of contact, due to the hours I will be volunteering, from Tuesday, August 15, 2017 thru Tuesday, August 22, 2017. I will be home again sometime Tuesday, August 22, 2017 to resume GMing this game. If I get the chance I will try to check in and keep the game progressing.
If any of you are going to be in attendance at GenCon feel free to let me know and I will try to find to time to meet if you would like.

Posting here as I don't wish to derail the in-game thread (welcome back, Thistle-bee!), but I have been having thoughts. Specifically, about the RP aspects of Selective Channeling - while I appreciate as a player that Smaranda was excluded twice from the channel, how would this work in-character? Can Thistle tell that Smaranda and Kisasi would be hurt by positive energy? I'm asking mainly because it would help play out that interaction when the moment arrives - revealing what Smaranda is and the potential reactions from the others. Thanks!

Thistle Winton |

/wave
That would be up to the GM, since he was the one running Thistle at the time. In my mind, Thistle would have only excluded if he knew it would be an issue, such as having been told, seeing his undead harming spell harming you, or through a K. Local/Religion check. I assume that the GM just hand-waved that last check so as not to slow things down. His call though.
Personally, I would love the RP-ness of "oops, sorry I didn't know that would hurt you, can I heal that that up? Oh, I went and did it again. How unfortunate! Do you heal up if I break one of your fingers?"

The stars are just for a few annotations from the email about my schedule. I am not planning to at the moment but things might change depending on what is happening at that moment.
If you look for me in the Sagamore I will be the buzz cut, blonde haired, average height, large guy wearing a purple volunteer shirt and glasses.
