Heheh. Very true chief, very true.
Was indeed - Skane was my first character on these here boards in a game that included Meowz - one character I can't seem to shake the itch to play.
Betony and Thistledown were maybe my second characters on these boards and I did have fun with them.
By the way Skane, Thistledown says *woof*
I remember the Saga well and the great Poetic Edda competition to get on one of the two teams. I had a gnome trying to be a redcap on team 'fey', he wasn't the most effective of assailants (being a knife wielding gnome in deep snowdrifts) but he was fun.

Haha. Thistledown and Betony. Miss those two... the Brambleknight was up there with Muli as fave characters (present crew included :)
Cearb was a cool concept also... Redcap in training...
On a separate note - how much does Kaul suck at being a rogue lol.

RoW is still the only campaign that I've actually killed a character in. Fond memories myself as well, but not sure if I could go back and rehash it.
First AP volume for Strange Aeons looks like it'd be a lot of fun with the right mix of peeps, but I'm still hanging out for the Blight.

I'm patiently waiting for your Blight too mate :) No there's no guarantees in making the pick list, but promises to be a zenith in dark, grim and wyrd rp.
Re: RoW rehash - if you ever do I'll heed the call!
Dibbets
No worries lads - this is just the first of a few standalone modules that are getting released for the Blight and I'll likely run some of the other ones as they come out... obviously building up for the Levee (his AP) when that finally graces us with it's presence.
The Brawler is more fun than the monk, especially if you don't want to play an ascetic and want to be more punchyfacey. The flexible feat selection is really powerful and fun as well.
"Keelhaul" Kaul
Agree Cap'n - would work better if (like the Monk) the Brawler fought in a specific style (or combo of styles) - effectively going with a "base" approach/training then adding to it through judicial selections or complimentary styles?
But I'm thinking that approach negates the whole point of "martial flexibility".
Check us - talking all intellectual about gaming mechanics and such. Guess my "cockfighting" clip failed to lower the tone suitably :) - will need to up my game lol.

Have fun! I won't be on the road until mid-week or so.
And I have to apologize--not sure if it's where my head is at these days (some heavy family stuff that's likely to get worse before it gets better), but being Cap'n wasn't fun, and I think it was showing in my play even before Jim threw it all over. I'll catch up on the nine posts in the queue at some point.
Dibbets
Aye - enjoy turkey season mateys.
Jimmer - no worries man, we'll flow this way and that like flotsam and jetsam if needs be, and I completely understand the feeling when real life intervenes into the game space in your head.
If you don't want to have the Cap'n crap on your table that's cool... on a longer play we don't even need to have our own ship if we'd prefer street combing. Lastly if we don't want to deal with the emo pandas that masquerade as pirates... we can look into a true skeleton crew...
the Groom
I am familiar with the stress that can build from having to perform on these boards when your life is less than stellar. I hope we can be a sounding board and support network for you. It does make a difference.
"Keelhaul" Kaul
+1 RL has a nasty habit of stymieing the best laid plans (even if they only gestate in your mind's eye).
As Meowz and Mark have succinctly put - we're here for you mate.
Cap'n Voodoo
Aye, plenty of stress to go around it seems now-a-days. Didn't mean any undue burden on you, Jim.
I wasn't expecting that whoever plays captain has to call all the shots. This ain't the navy and pirate captain was rather a fluid job voted on by the crew for whoever was best suited at the time. So you all can switch off as you like. Typically the crew would vote for captain, but your current crew owes you their lives so you all are pretty free to chose among yourselves or even appoint an NPC captain if you like.

Thanks, all. Here's the scoop: early last week my mom had to be taken off anticoagulants because her docs were worried that in the near term she was more likely to injure herself falling and bleed out than have a stroke. Problem is, the other thing we'd been told at a previous appointment is that coming off the meds means a stroke is a matter of when, not if. So, yeah. The thing is, the meds have also induced something called vascular dementia, which is just what it sounds like. Even though she was part of the decision process to go off the warfarin, she doesn't remember it, so she's going along as though nothing has changed. On our part, we just have to spend as much time with her as we can. At least her personality is pretty much intact, she's lucid in the moment, and she's reasonably happy.
Dibbets
Bugger - platonic man-hugs from me Jimmer. Had my grandmother go through a quad-bypass last year at 88-ish, and my grandparents on the other side had one stroke and one batch of alzheimers between them, so I've got an inkling of the emotions swirling around.
Take the time, and don't worry 'bout us. We'll keep on chugging and be here when you can be.
"Keelhaul" Kaul
Thoughts and huggage from this side of the pond too Jimmer. My dad was diagnosed with dementia 3 years ago... Meds have slowed the erosion but I can fully emphasis with that need to spend quality time.
As Dibbs says we'll keep things on course for when you have the time and focus.

So a GM in one of my other games created these (via Hero Forge) for $hits and giggles for the party. I loved it and couldn't resist for this crazy crew.
So in the spirit of the pending festives, Thanksgiving o'er the pond and because I'm a sucker for spending time on pet projects... I give you my take on the crew in mini form:
(Give it a wee while to load each mini up)
Now they're not perfect by any stretch lads, and I'm keen to wait and revise as new add ons are released... but I am planning to make these our 15k post "unlocked rewards" - so no sneaky ordering lol.
Enjoy - hope they make you smile as much as I did when creating them :)
"Keelhaul" Kaul
Heheh. Indeed he should.
Had to work hard not to make Dibbs look like Groundskeeper Willie lol... so wanted to give him the Scot's kilt :) but in the end other options won out!

INDEED! Those are fantastic! Is there nothing the interwebs can't do?
well, Mates. I'm back home after a 16 hour or so all night drive. :P I certainly could use a full 8 hrs sleep at least, but the sun is up and likely, so am I. I'll be back to regular updates soon anyway.
Jim, hope your mom is well. That sounds like the same situation we had with my grandmother some years back. It's sure frustrating when it feels like the meds cause more problems than they help :/
"Keelhaul" Kaul
I debated if Dingus should be in a dress and mismatched clothing... :)
Or just naked :S
If I've time I'll do some alternative sculpts (and possibly some of the crew)
Glad to here your back, an rush on the postings!
"Keelhaul" Kaul
Those are pretty kick-ass. Well done. I love that the Groom's dead-talking skull made it.
Cheers man. Stoked that a tiki-tum like idol was lurking on Kaul's as well :)
Cap'n Voodoo
How's it going, Jim?
So I'll step in to say again that leadership is fluid on a pirate ship. Direct democracy at it's best. No Electoral College!
Thus, if Dibbets feels strongly about keeping the ship, he can vie for the captaincy. I don't know that Jim would oppose him.
I just don't want to put any pressure on Mr. Woodford who has already said that he has too much on his plate RL to put much in right now.
Dibbets
Aye - similarly don't want to make Monsignor Woodford's real life any more stressful.
Dibbets problem is two-fold:
1) the crew (en masse) dislike him
2) he really isn't Captain material
Realistically the only two 'Captainy' people we have in the party are Jimmer and the Groom. Kaul and Dingus are too unstable and Dibbets is too much of an arse... Jimmer could unite through being reasonable and the Groom could use the Besmaran angle if he wanted to.
Last option would be to put up a proxy... and we actually have a reasonable option in this case - which would be Estabo. I'd think that with his likeability and backed by our muscle we could put forward a strong case for him... maybe...
"Keelhaul" Kaul
Kaul and Dingus too unstable!? Heheh.
What could go wrong with Kaptain Kaul and his loyal first mate Lopper!
"What's that Lopper? Rammin' speed ye say! RAMMIN' SPEED IT IS THEN! HUR!"
(in all seriousness Estabo could be a decent proxy option)
Dibbets
Potential solution:
- Crew sacks Jimmer - while he was away
- Crew elects Estabo (assuming that they're ofay with the idea)
- Grackle arrives and gets told to sod off - because Jimmer wasn't the Captain, and therefore couldn't sign over the ship.
- Crew presents a united front on the arrivals and threatens them with blade, spell and ballistae tae go stuff it.
- ???
- Profit
Thoughts?
Dibbets
Bad pun in the main thread aside - speak up if you're not in at least indifferent alignment with Dibbets' way forward. His intent is to try and counter whatever slop the Grackle speaks, before emphasising the fact that the motley group is 'crude but effective', then finishing up with the cherry of proposing Estabo as a unity candidate for Captaining.
"Keelhaul" Kaul
Right shipmates - just a wee heads up that I'm heading o'er to Dubai tomorrow to spend upcoming festives with my wife's brother and family. I'm back late on the 27th, and back to the work grind on the 28th.
I'll be posting throughout today and this evening, but once I'm over there posting will be spottier. Inter webs access is no issue, but time most likely will be.
Fingers crossed I'll chip in now and then, but don't wait for me :)
Should the unthinkable happen and I not get a chance in the coming weeks - have a very merry Xmas lads (I'll raise a tincture in your collective honour :)
Cheers
