As Bronx enters the familiar aspidistra-lined hall, the clerk looks up at him.
“There was a halfling here a short while ago, asking about ‘the big half-orc who had a gnome with him’, wanting to know if they were guests here? He headed downstairs for a time, then came back up, described you, and left a message.

"Well this looks like the place".
"Lets go in and see where your brother may be".
Ashan will head for the door to open it and enter.
Once inside he will look for a maid or barkeeper to ask after Nim.

The clerk passes Bronx a folded letter, which Bronx opens up. It runs:
‘Well, my friend, it was relatively easy to track you to this boarding house, and simplicity itself to wait until you had departed and then enter and ask the desk clerk regarding which room the half-orc and a gnome companion were staying in. Okay, he needed some bluffing to get the information out of him, and the lock on the room was trickier than I was expecting for an establishment such as this, and then I took that room apart, but could not find the box.
I guess you’re not so dumb as I took you for; the big half-orc has the box somewhere else, doesn’t he? And the girl?
Well I can’t afford any more time to hang around in town and look, since some idiot mage has sent the local mercenary outfit up to the cabin. I’d recommend you do the same. Something has gone badly wrong, my sixth sense is telling me, and as I said to you earlier, I haven’t been paid enough to risk my neck any further.
I’m feeling generous enough to tell you that powdered silver is needed to open that box, but too mean to tell you what the command word is to avoid discharging the warding glyph an informant told me is on the inside. I will expect a cut of any riches, when we next meet, if this information was unknown to you. The same goes for ransoming the girl back to her father.
Honour among thieves and all that.

Frowning, Bronx tucks the letter away and sets off to the lower level, to go find Nim.

Seebo & Ashan:

Banging the snow off your boots you enter the long, aspidistra-lined, hall of the boarding house, which has a number of exits leading off the sides, and an open doorway to what seems to be a dining area at the end. A notice on a door almost immediately to the right informs boarders that that room is closed for 'repairs'.
The halfling hall-clerk looks up at Seebo and Ashan as the front-door shuts behind them.

Bronx left Nim with the girl in the room which Nim had paid for for the girl, not the room which Nim and his brother were staying in. Both these rooms were on the lower levels.

“Uhhh.”, the clerk gives Seebo a funny look. “He’s been staying in the same room as you? The one you checked out of this morning, with a night still paid for, and returned your key?”

The clerk looks at Seebo suspiciously, and seems reluctant to give directions but does so.
“Down the hall turn right and down the stairs….”, he begins, and goes on to list a set of directions.

Okay, Bronx is outside the door of the room where he left Nim and the girl. It's closed and Bronx can't see any signs that anything is wrong here.

Given the message he recieved, Bronx will double check to see if he is being followed before knocking.

If Bronx does not detect anyone else, he will knock on the door and say, "It is Bronx" and open the door if it is unlocked or wait until it opens if it is locked.

Ashan will give a minimal shake of his head and comment under his breath to Seebo, "So often it appears that people don't want to help others any more."
He will then continue to follow Seebo to the room.

You follow the directions and descend into the tunnels and halls of the lower depths of the boarding house, eventually winding up outside the door of the room of which the clerk gave you the number. Seebo tries the handle, but the door is firmly shut and currently locked.
I did try to hint earlier that this might be something you could expect in the post which had the clerk's comment that Seebo had 'returned his key'...

"Hello friend Bronx, where is my brudder?", Nim asks.

You see Bronx standing there. It looks like he's been outside and that it's still snowy outside from the snow on his boots and cloak.

Bronx:
When Bronx goes into the room:

Aaarrrgghhhh! Stupid post disappearing! Let's try this again.

Nim and Charles

Bronx scratches his beard uncomfortably at Nim's question. As he quickly moves into the room and closes and locks the door.

"Sorry Nim, I wasn't able to find him. I found that wizard fellow that was with him, but he said he lost your brother and he couldn't tell me exactly where. Evidently some fairyfolk attacked and things got confusing as they tend to do.

There are still some fairies still hanging around town, so be careful. Also a halfling is following us. He's already been here and search our rooms looking for the girl and the box. Frankly I'm a bit nervous about continuing to search for your brother and risking someone learning about her and the box.

I don't know what to do. Maybe we should just go to the local authorities and tell them about the girl. The fey didn't seem like they were happy about the authorities, so probably it would be safe enough. I don't know. You have any thoughts?"

I expect there is a bit of a time difference between when we entered the inn. I do expect some of us will have to wait a few turns until the time difference is closed. That is the way I am treating it.
Hopefully that will not be too many more posts.

Davkul did tell Bronx: 'I’ve alerted the company of the Black Bow to some nastiness that some of Markov’s personal writings which I retrieved indicate that the halflings were involved in in a cabin out in the woods to the northwest- kidnapping and murder there by Markov’s account- and those three also seem to have been leagued with some bad fey'... Although Bronx may not have particularly been paying attention to that or have trusted the fat gnome to get things done properly...

"No-one seems to be here Seebo." Ashan will comment to Seebo.
"I'm gonna sit in the enterance hall, and have a drink while waiting."
"The clerk has your key if you want to collect it."
"Wanna join me in waiting for a bit? or rest in your room?"
Ashan is concerned for his friends welfare since the incident.
Since Ashan has met Seebo and Nim before, he thinks that waiting upstairs would be a good opertunity to keep an eye on those who come and go at the establishment.

Just as you are thinking of moving on, you hear the sound of several people approaching and bearing down on you, along the corridor, come several nervous looking younger women halflings in aprons and grey work-clothes, led by a much more determined looking middle-aged halfling woman, in more brightly coloured (but still practical) clothes. One of the younger women peels off to knock on the door of one of the rooms a couple of doors down from where Ashan and Seebo are currently standing.

Bronx and Nim:

Bronx heads off, pulling the door shut behind him.

Pausing briefly to inquire from the clerk in the hall for directions to the Black Bow compound, Bronx makes his way back out to the snowbound streets.
Time: Approximately 16:22, 30 Nightal, 1383 DR

Bronx leaves and then after a while Nim hears a knock on the door, and a female voice (sounds like one of the boarding house maids, Nim thinks) calling out: “Mrs. Prestwick has a message for you, sir, may I come in?”

Ashan will wait for an answer from the halfling woman.
If it is a good answer to Seebo's question, he will continue on with Seebo.
If it is of no use in finding Seebo's brother, Ashan will head up into the common room to get a drink, and observe who comes and goes from the establishmant.

You see the maid go into the room a couple of doors down. Meanwhile, the middle-aged woman fixes Seebo with a suspicious glare.
“And how am I to know you’re not a shapeshifter who’s horribly tortured Mr. Murnig to death and come here meaning his brother harm? Darrell from the desk said he thought you were acting funny.”

"What a lack of respect." Ashan will appear indignant.
"I have just come from Aumbril's residence where we were lucky to save poor Seebo's life. And you want to treat him like this."
"Makes a person wonder if its worth doing good deeds anymore, when your only ever greeted with suspision."
"Now we would like to find his brother, because Seebo has lost a bit of his memory from an incident that happened up at the mine offices. It is my understanding, Seebo may have saved some lives up there."
"Could you please direct up to where Nim is please, you can come with us if you like."

"I have had an ordeal of my own, and my memory of the past week is missing, however, if you are looking out for my brother then I am very grateful, but would still like to be with him, please."

A few moments later, a halfling woman in the uniform of one of the boarding house maids enters the room, pushing the door shut behind her.
“Mrs. Prestwick is concerned because someone looking a lot like your brother turned up at the front desk a short while ago, asking questions in a manner the clerk found highly suspicious.” She says hurriedly. “Mrs. Prestwick is concerned that it may be a shape-shifting monster – or that if it is your brother that he’s under some sort of magical control. Whatever this visitor is, he’s accompanied by a halfling man and the pair of them are in the boarding house and right now standing outside the room you and your brother paid to stay in.”
Nim and Seebo’s room is a couple of doors down from where Nim currently is.

Sorry for the delay; I am waiting for Nim to post, since you are currently very close to one another.
I'm not sure (due to family events) how able I will be to post around the 25th & 26th of this month.
