We will not actually be starting until next week, but I thought I would get the threads up anyway.

Let me know if you have questions.

Discuss characters and builds here.

Howdy everyone!

Just checking in and saying hello...not sure if I want to bring in one of my existing characters or build something brand spanking new. I guess I have a few days to figure it out! Let's see if I can get inspired!

Hey!

Just dropping in for a dot. I will be playing a fighter, either a CAD (World's worst wizard) or a Kitsune weaponmaster. Still debating between the two at the moment. Brute, I'll drop links to the two people I mentioned and get them in here just in case you have not gotten to them already.

Sovereign Court

I've actually got 2, level 2 DM credit babies (though one being a "Vivisectionist-from-two/three-years-ago-I-never-rebuilt" is technically more correct) as well as a 2nd level Wizard.

Greetings!

I think I'll be running with a druid, though I'm still not 100% sure on what sort of build/archetype I'm gonna run with.

Sovereign Court

I want to note: this is a module, so a party of brand-new, 1st level PCs may be rough depending on difficulty (having helped carry a party of brand-newbies through Crypt of the Everflame with my Witch alongside a 24-AC-having fighter.) The module assume we would level halfway through (thought we don't, since this is PFS and not a regular XP game,) so expect to be optimized to the point where you can survive a CR up.

Unless they scaled the difficulty down, in which case, then please ignore.

My only available existing character for Tier 1-2 is my Paladin. If we think we need one or two 2nd level characters for survivability I don't mind using him...but if everyone is bringing a new character to the table I'm happy to do that too.

I have a 2nd level cleric/archer, but was looking to run something new. I can run her if needed though.

Edit:scratch that, she is level 3.

There is also the option of us running something locally to get these characters to level 2 before we start....

Stats: GMed 8 PFS PBPs; Played 18 PFS PBPs

Yes, having a couple of level 2 characters would be good. The other thing to consider is that after this we will have a group of level 2-3 characters. Which means either the level 3s will play down or the level 2s will play up. Ultimately it will be up to you, but yes, doing this module with a group of brand new level 1 characters will be a challenge.

Then again, I haven’t had a TPK yet...

Sovereign Court

I'll re-note that I have two unformed level two characters, so I'm good to fly with or without a local 3XP run. I've been greatly considering a Crossbow-user or a Necromancer as of late, though I change my mind more than wind changes direction.

As always, I'm good for anything (as long as it doesn't interrupt our local Saturday S&S game.)

Stats: GMed 8 PFS PBPs; Played 18 PFS PBPs

We only have the four of you at the moment, so this may be it for now.

Even a level 1 character with a session or two under his belt would be good. Then they will have a MW weapon, better armor, and/or some extra expendables.

Discussing Factions and character personalities might be good as well for those who are designing/redesigning their characters.

Langsford, I like Druids. :)

Baron, go Dirge Bard!

Ahh, none of the others you asked were interested?

Stats: GMed 8 PFS PBPs; Played 18 PFS PBPs

More like, already at their limit for PBPs. I have not heard back from 1, but I'm not holding my breath.

Well, always the option for new faces too if you want to throw the dice and hope we get lucky.

Uguu, I just realized that Sound Striker Bard and Dirge Bard don't overlap, and my Taldan Necromancer idea can be merged with my Dirge Bard idea from years ago... PLUS, he'd still have both Inspire Courage AND Bardic Knowledge...

Stats: GMed 8 PFS PBPs; Played 18 PFS PBPs

So, is that a good thing?

Stats: GMed 8 PFS PBPs; Played 18 PFS PBPs

I would rather just run with the 4 players we have here, unless any of you have someone specific in mind.

Also, Thunderspirit said he would be interested in joining up after Murder's Mark.

Far too good. I.e. He's being built now.

Aww, no terrible buddy character concept...haha. I was really looking forward to seeing Rommel.

Sovereign Court

Wadsworth was always conceptualized as a butler for some Taldan nobility... If you want to be the next heir to that family or putz around with that family bloodline or something, be my guest.

Then prepare to laugh at my awfulness, Brute. This is gonna be my first foray into Druid, so it will be painfully noobish. I don't have anything else to offer in the level 1-2 range.

In terms of faction and whatnot, I'm kind of blanked out. Grand Lodge makes the most sense, buuut they never much interested me. Personality I haven't gotten figured out yet. Just gonna run with it and see.

Stats: GMed 8 PFS PBPs; Played 18 PFS PBPs

Hey, just because I like Druids does not mean you need to play one. :)
Do what you want.

For a Druid though, I personally recommend the Mehnir Savant Archetype.

Was looking at that. Was also looking at Saurian Shaman (DINOSAURS!) and the World Walker. Could always go vanilla too...

Sovereign Court

Yeah, for a first druid/pet class in PFS, I'd recommend either avoiding the Animal Companion or seeing if the Handle Animal skill makes sense easily to you. Tricks (to me) are something that has to "click" into one's conscious. I simply made my Cavalier's horse a Racing Horse and picked up Fleet every level (and only used it twice, I think.)

The good part for you is that Modules don't have faction missions, so faction REALLY doesn't matter. Plus, you can "rebuild" until you sit down with a second level character.

Stats: GMed 8 PFS PBPs; Played 18 PFS PBPs

You can still get a Dino as a vanilla Druid.

Btw, if you are an Aasimar druid you can take Celestial Servant for a really awesome Companion. :)

Side Rant: Druids have been greatly overlooked as far as viable archetypes go in the expansion books. It's really frustrating. Sure, there are plenty of options, but 95% of them are worse off than playing a regular Druid, and the regular Druid can pretty much do whatever you want them to anyway.

Sovereign Court

Side Rant Cont.: Reincarnated Druid (NOT PFS LEGAL FOR GOOD REASON) > Feral Child (ALSO NOT PFS LEGAL, BUT FOR NO GOOD REASON) > Regular Druid > All other druids >>>> Rogues.

O-ho. That gives me things to think about. Thank you guys!

Hey, leave my rogues alone, they do just fine, haha.

Sovereign Court

Druids totally make better rogues than rogues (says the +54 Profession (Sailor) Drive Check Rogue guy.)

Stats: GMed 8 PFS PBPs; Played 18 PFS PBPs

I would also say,
Mehnir Savant > Regular Druid.

I played a Druid in a Kingmaker Campaign. I have yet to think up a good character concept for a Druid in PFS. I also have so many other characters to play...

Sethious wrote:

I have a straight up rogue...and he tends to do OK. He only almost died once...by which I mean he was about to run away as everyone else was dying!

Stats: GMed 8 PFS PBPs; Played 18 PFS PBPs

I have a Rogue with a Fighter dip. She is amazing! Well, against anything with a mind that is.

Langsford, Baron and I will be hanging out at some point this weekend. So we should have our characters ready to go on Sunday.

Stats: GMed 8 PFS PBPs; Played 18 PFS PBPs

I will be unavailable Friday through Sunday.

Well, you said we were not starting until next week anyways. Just wanted to gives you a heads up as to when things would most likely pull together on our end. No rush man, haha.

Sovereign Court

I want to note that I got home from my local PFS around 11:30 (due to oft-made bad-in-the-short-term decisions.) Expect the most horrible of ideas.

Stats: GMed 8 PFS PBPs; Played 18 PFS PBPs

Ok, where are everyone's characters at?

I'm good to go with my paladin or I'm prepared to punt with a newly created character if we have a gap or two in party roles.

Stats: GMed 8 PFS PBPs; Played 18 PFS PBPs

I would love to run some season 4 and 5 stuff after this. We will need to see what everyone can play.

Going to have a level 2 CAD, using lots of improvised weapon stuff.

Sovereign Court

Since it looks like we need arcane power... Here's 1-800-ARCANE.

Press 1 for a Conjuration Wizard
Press 2 for a Dirge/Soundstriker Bard
Press 3 for a Theologian Fire Cleric

All are 2nd level, and require (at most) a few minutes of updating/creation bits. Mostly wealth stuff.

Got a level 2 druid now, thanks to Sethious running stuff over the weekend.

Sovereign Court

Stats:
  • 17/17 HP
  • AC: 14, FF: 14, T: 12
  • F: +2, R +5, W+3
  • Per: +5, SM: +4
  • Init +2
  • 0/10 BPs used
  • Human (Mwangi) Bard (Dirge Soundstriker) 2

I've decided on the Bard, since some CLWs, knowledges, and buffing seem like a lacking department.

Stats: GMed 8 PFS PBPs; Played 18 PFS PBPs

Ok, so looks like Fighter, Bard, Druid, Paladin, and all level 2. Awesome!

    Sovereign Court

    Male Human Fighter (CAD) 2 (hp 20/20) | F +4 R +1 W +0 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 CMD 17

Tim's info is transferred, just need to make a few more purchases and all should be good.
