Selena Halfblood |
If that's because I'm right about selling stuff to complete the room, it's just that I grew up playing Point and Click adventures: this is easy when compared with the random stuff I had to go trough playing those. :P
Now that the genre has gotten a little easier (read: the puzzles aren't written by the inhuman mind of a Great Old One), I usually plow trough those games like its nothing.
Speaking of your keys, they're probably lodged into the subway track near your house: you'll get them by tying clothes around a rubber ducky (that you retrieved after trowing bread crumbs on it so seagulls would poke holes in it, propelling it to the nearby canal) and putting a clamp around it (that you took after repairing the water pumping station of your building by using a gold ring, given to you by your father years ago, as a conductor). Now, you just inflate the ducky, put the clamp around it, and use clothes to descend the apparatus in the track: the duck slowly deflates, the clamp closes, and you got the keys!
There, easy!
*Speaking of which, are there items that we have in the ledger like Aibek asked? Also, now that I thought about it, we probably have to sell things to equal the cost of what we bought or something.
Selena Halfblood |
As we'll have to go there eventually, any ideas on what we should do in the Beggar and Hunter rooms? Shoot arrows at the mural?
Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |
Hunter-related things often accept sacrifices, especially if you caught a creature yourself. Presenting a hunted creature's skin, for example.
Selena Halfblood |
Presenting a hunted creature's skin, for example.
Awww, but I wanted to make a bikini out of that Basilisk skin. :(
Jokes aside, I think that that would work.
Maybe there's somewhere in the beggar room where we can offer money?
Selena Halfblood |
I missed something: the Soldier's torch isn't lit up yet, no?
Selena Halfblood |
"I believe the city will need anything it can get. Surely, Aroden's successors won't begrudge us this help, would they? This wealth does no good collecting dust here. Is any of this magical?"
Mihara decidedly appears interested in the wealth of goods found here. Likely, these could be of sufficient value to help them acquire better equipment.
Yup, we need funds, now that I think of it, both us and the city.
Luckily, Selena's series of books will make us rich in no time. :P
Selena Halfblood |
And after I read the sentence about the book the first time this morning, I thought it was literally like a gruesome flip book. <.<EXPLOSIONS!
The diary open, the spell broken and falling away harmlessly. A quick glance through the book is...worrying. It shows a normal man, slowly being eaten away by another being until nothing is left.
By the way, we're going to try to complete all the rooms and get our extra, right?
Yao Mihara |
Obviously.

Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |
Naturally. XD Azri's going to be trying to add some notes to the scholarly tomes. She thinks the "Twelfth Step" is the Scholar attribute of Aroden (could be wrong, but that one is usually listed last in his forms, I think), and if it "guides the hand" on a weapon, that could be a metaphor for having the knowledge to fight certain types of foes, so she wants to write in some stuff on fighting undead.
Azri: And if the temple doesn't like my interpretation of its obtuse selection process, it can- *MMMRPH!*
Sorry, she's a bit... opinionated... about all this. XD
Yao Mihara |
"other things can be shorn"
... It dawns on me that Mihara has fur. Don't even think about it.

Selena Halfblood |
Don't worry, Selena won't let anyone else get her Mihara's fluffyness. <3

...well I am NOW....
A. Aibek |
Aibek has fur as well...and likely about as unhappy at the idea of being shorn as Mihara.
Now to find people again.
Selena Halfblood |
Oooh, didn't expect a stat bump as a reward!
And most of the distance that Azri traversed in the temple was probably while being dragged/lifted around. :3
Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |
So, assuming she's not smited when Selena drags her up, Azri'll raise INT. XD I might try to raise something else after, since 22 INT ought to be plenty for now. Probably Dexterity or Charisma.
Yao Mihara |
To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Little Miss Foxy McFluffkins will be getting a dexterity increase, bringing her to a ridiculous 24.
I'll update my sheet later, I just finished my character crunch for a game Jon is recruiting for, and I'm going to die if I have to do any more character math for tonight.
So, let's see what's in the box, shall we?
JonGarrett |
Yao Mihara |
So, who should take these spectacular spectacles? Ayreth? Aibek? You two have very good perception scores, maybe one of you two could do really well with them.
Is there a way for us to get a general idea of what the glasses do without someone bonding with them first?
Nigrum Ensis Halfblood |
Nigrum is right there with Mihara, he won't stop til he can go toe to toe with a dragon on brute strength. JK his mythic stat boast are a little more spread out but I figure swordmaster in the making needs insane raw talent before he can get those skills. :P
Checking out your new game, I am curious what scares the terrifying one.
Edit- I love how Mihara just knows Nigrum is not going to bite on that symbol at all. xD
Edit edit- Wow going to have to check out your recruitment thread tomorrow that's alot of post to go through. But sounds interesting from skimming.
JonGarrett |
Everything. Everything is scaring me. I wasn't expecting so many people to be interested in a social based game. It's awesome, but it's thrown me a little, and a lot of the concepts are really fun. And some are just scary as all hell.
As for the goggles...generally they help with eye stuff? Oh, right, details. Basically they'll help against sight based attacks, allow you to pick up some interesting sense abilities, and even allow a few tricks you wouldn't expect.
And if worn by total Mary Sues they can open up and fire lazy beams! PEW PEW!
Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |
Good plan. For my own part, I'm considering a plane-hopping game, since my expectation of that Barmy in Sigil one actually happening is hovering around 5% (given past experiences). XD It's quite amazing what you can construct if you have planar sourcebooks for three or four campaign settings...
Ayreth |
My Con is sitting at 15, but I don't think I can resist a Cha bump.
As for the glasses, I'm not sure. Ayreth is a Cyclopean Seer oracle & I do like puns.
But a Witchwolf with spectacles tickles me, too. And she can do some neat tricks with shadows, too.
I think that Ayreth will grab them unless someone else is interested.

*Sigh* Do you really want me in yet another of your campaigns?
Well, which items are left...
1 - Weapon
2 - Book
3 - Goggles
4 - Staff
5 - Orb
6 - Armour
7 - Shield
8 - Companion
9 - Necklace
10 - Crown
11 - Rings
12 - Mount
13 - Special
And yes, I roll randomly each time you open one of those boxes. I do, however, tailor each item a little to whoever picks it up, if that makes you feel better.
Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |
Of course, if it's plane-hopping, I do need a substitute for Sigil...
*Starts working on a plane shaped like a multi-layer spherical Klein Bottle*
Ayreth |
Whoa, mount and companion are out there? That's awesome.
Yao Mihara |
That 'special', though.
Out of curiosity, once each member of the party has obtained a symbol of authority, will we still have the opportunity to acquire the remaining seven?
That would make two per party member, plus the 'companion' shared by everyone, possibly.
Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |
No, no, Selena's probably going to want a companion all to herself... *Firm glare in her direction*
I see Rings, plural, that could be one for each of us. XD
Ayreth |
Nope. Obviously, our Overlord has a secret alias on which he is running an evil group in the same campaign, but neither group knows about the other yet. In the distant future, our groups will meet up in a huge conflict over control of the city.
Ayreth |
And one of us is a spy. Obviously.
;)
A. Aibek |
Oh, this one is actually tempting,. It does seem it is between Ayreth and Aibek. I'll have Aibek ask for further information to see if we can find out more that can help us decide.
Selena Halfblood |
OH WOW 24 POSTS.
I'll surely miss something.
@Stat Bump: That 17 Che bugs me, but I'll put the point into strength: I'm fine for now, but CMD escalates quickly at the later levels.
Speaking of which, Jon, are we using the rules to combine magic items?
@Other Campaigns: I'm completely full at the moment. Just started Hell's Rebels!
Though, speaking of that Barmy Sigil campaign, I'm surprised that people people are still giving that guy the benefit of the doubt. :/
@Companion: Nah, Selena would share. :P
Unless it was a fluffy critter: that would take some time to pry off her.
Completely unrelated to fluffy things, what do we do now? Are people still up with the mannequin sparring thing? And after that, what do you want to do? Go back to the armory to pick up the things in the vault? As Mihara pointed out, we do need funds and are a little behind on money, I think.
Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |
"Benefit of the doubt" might be exaggerating it a bit. I'm more in the "I can use this as a prompt for making characters I can use as NPCs in the games I run, and if the game actually happens, that's a nice bonus" stage. XD
Speaking of money... *Wavewave* If we can get crafting materials, Azri can start making up the difference by making stuff.
Ayreth |
That princess game is a cool idea. Good luck with that!
Just learned that my Giantslayer DM needs to quit after the first book for health reasons. Just as my druid hits level 4. =( for him and our party.
Selena Halfblood |
I think there always have been?
I probably used the wrong word with combining, but in the Core Rulebook, Magic Creation chapter, there's the tab that tells you that to create an item that has "Multiple different abilities", you have to pay for both items plus 50% more of the cheaper item.
I usually have seen it in Thrower builds that combine a Blinkback belt (5000 GP) and a Belt of Mighty Hurling (14.000 GP) for 5000+14.000+2500= 21.500 GP.
