Well played guys! Given that GM Hmm will be back today and we are in a holding pattern I give you back to her capable hands.
I will take over from her in February for another con, in the meantime I will off course follow you.

GM Hmm |

Thank you GM G. Yep, I am back!
You did a fabulous job taking over my table so that I could help out at a convention 5 hours from home. I really appreciate this! Shifty, am I the first GM to take advantage of the backups? I wanted to make sure to use them to set a precedent to make other GMs feel more comfortable asking for time off when needed!
Hmm

Magabeus |

Hmm, you are the first (and only one so far) to approach me.

I am hoping others will try it out after seeing an Online Venture Lieutenant do it.
Having the backups also allowed Batpony to take over seamlessly from a GM who dropped early, so I think they proved their value already.
I should post something in the GM thread about how easy you made this for me. You are really awesome, Magabeus.

Love what you are doing here Hmmm! First the foreshadowing with the second encounter while you are running the first and then temporarily stopping combat to let them carry their wounded off!
Now the big question is what the next foreshadowing thing will be....

Oh, I am glad that you are enjoying this. I try to take advantage of the PbP format to lay in hints of what's to come.

I can't wait to see how they react to the...
Muahahahaha!
It's fun to make parties paranoid.

GM Hmm |

By the way, does anyone want to bot Mort? Pull out those robotic aliases!
(And please, roll well for the guy... I don't think he's rolled above a seven in combat yet! Let's see if we can lift his dice curse.)

![]() |

Red, that was the most ridiculous bot post I've ever seen - I love it! I'm still giggling, ehehehe.

GM Hmm |

That was a HILARIOUS bot!
Nice job!

GM Hmm |

Oh and feel free to bot Mort again!
Hmm

![]() |

*sigh* Got called in to work today, so just bot me as needed. I'll catch up when I get home tonight.

GM Hmm |

Yesterday was busy for me, and I kept expecting Shifty to move us forward early... Silly me. So, let's give you all one more wave to fight. Maybe you can finish it before Shifty moves us forward again. Let's try it anyway!
Hmm

GM Hmm |

GM G, can I state for the record that the Tengu Monks have the best tactics I have ever seen on an NPC opponent? Gosh, I just want to hug these guys.

Honor!!!!
Sheela, the CG rich party girl, doesn't get all of this honor stuff. Her stuck up brother paladin-wannabe Sigurd would, though.

GM Hmm |

Oh, and in case it's not obvious... It's Wednesday. My posting will be spotty, but I wanted to get you at least started with your explorations.

Darkvision was almost required with one of my old gamemasters, it doesn't seem to be so much of an issue in PFS, but maybe that's just due to the low level games I've played in so far. It did come into play somewhat with some missions I guess. It is pretty nice to have a rogue type character that doesn't need a light source.. or someone that uses both hands in combat. I'm assuming I can carry the sunrod in my mouth or half tucked into a belt and it still be pretty effective.

GM OfAnything |

Everyone knows that frogs sing to scare off predators, lol.
I can't wait to see everyone else's contributions.

GM Hmm |

I have the BEST group ever! What a lovely set of posts to return to!

A good GM manages to get the best out of her players and good players get the best out of their GM!

It's the blessing and curse of specials. In tabletop play there really isn't time to get into anything not 'essential' so it boils down to rapid stimulus/response type play - and the scenarios are written with that in mind. In PbP we run the risk of lag and missing the timings between stages, but the benefit is we have the time and ability to flesh out the basic descriptions without chewing up time the same way.
Good to see you guys are maximising the advantages of the PbP medium :)

I'm a huge fan of this medium now that I've been playing it for a few months. Its much easier to develop fine roleplay and setting through well thought out typing than a face to face game where you may stumble through words or struggle to remember some rules.
PS, Thanks for keeping Ironshanks alive. He wasn't build well for that scenario.

GM Hmm |

Magabeus, are you around? Would you be willing to keep moving them forward? I'm going to try to get some posts in, but at some point I suspect that I will keel completely over.
___
Dragging here. Something I ate at restaurant likely contained hidden meat or lard or something, because less than hour later I went from high energy healthy to running to the bathroom every fifteen minutes as my stomach tried to hurl all my insides out at once. It's finally stopped, but I am a wreck. No sleep and I feel like a worn out dishrag.
This is what happens whenever I have surprise meat... My vegetarian body lets me know in no uncertain terms that it's not welcome. Bleah. I may be going back to bed at some point, so if I go suddenly unresponsive... You'll know why.
Hugs to all. From a nice, safe distance.

GM G |
Yep, I am here and will post where I can.
Managing expectations
I am in Europe (Netherlands to be exact), so CET timezone
I expect no ability to post today, commuting home right now and have my evening planned. I also need to read this section of the scenario again.
Tomorrow evening you can expect at least one post and I might be able to sneak one or two in during the day.
As for Sunday: I have no idea. No promisses, but you might be lucky.
Get better soon Hmm!

GM Hmm |

Magabeus, I think I will be mostly recovered by tomorrow. The key is taking it slow, getting some sleep, and doing tiny portions of easily digestible foods and liquids. So... I'll do what I can to move the group forward today, in between naps. I want you guys to make progress today.
I've already managed to hold down half a banana this morning and some tea. In an hour or so, I'll try the other half.
Wheee.
Hmm

![]() |

I haven't been sick like that in quite some time. My typical sickness is a head cold which doesn't hurt an appetite too badly just makes it horrid to sleep.
I'm ready to push things along today at whatever pace people want to move. I don't want to drive things along in a nearly solo capacity.

GM Hmm |

I spent most of yesterday making up for lost sleep and eating small amounts of liquid or easily digestible food. Stealth meat messes me up badly. I go from being a happy healthy person to someone with an almost explosive need to vomit.
I've been vegetarian for 34 years. My gut just can't take meat products at all.
But today head is clear and gut is no longer clenching in on itself. I can maintain my own body heat and no longer feel nauseated. It is wonderful not having my stomach hurt. So I am feeling much better!
Mort, I want to tell you how much your writing has amused me here. "Turd Tunnel" -- Ha!
Have you thought about GMing? You really should.
Hmm

I have started to explore your starter gm guide, going to familiarize myself with using slide shows and such. Maybe put together the free goblin adventures to learn as I go.
I don't do so well with serious characters, they always turn into the opposite. Go with what you know...
Glad you're feeling better. Did you turn vegetarian because meat didn't agree with your stomach or because you didn't agree with eating meat?

GM Hmm |

I never agreed with eating meat. I turned veg as soon as I could, at sixteen. If I had more control over my meals, it would have been at age nine, when I heard a pig being slaughtered in Chinatown. (I grew up in an asian neighborhood in San Francisco.) I've always felt that I should never eat anything I could not personally kill, and realized that I could never have killed that pig.
I have no problem with others who eat meat especially if they're hunters or ice fishers like you. I just knew from that moment on that I could not do it.
Hmm

![]() |

My wife's vegetarian so I get it. She's sensitive to even a touch of broth in any sort of sauce or gravy.
I tried to give up meat but my heart's just not in it. I fully understand the impacts environmentally and with respect to animal welfare so I do what I can - I almost never eat beef or pork but I do enjoy chicken and fish at least once a week.
I'm glad you're feeling better Hmm.

![]() |

Yes, glad you're feeling better! As far as meat goes...I won't lie, I do enjoy eating it (though pork products not as much) but there's lots of other things I like to eat as well so I don't have to have meat as a part of every single meal.
Regarding goofy characters, I think the episodic nature of PFS makes it easier to get by with playing a goofy character - especially since you're playing with different PCs each time unless you've got a set group. I'm having a blast playing Corona and I look forward to playing her more in the future :)

![]() |

Hah! Figures Corona would be the one to stumble almost right to where these guys pop out from :)
Note to self: why did I give her such a high wisdom? It really ought to be average at best or even dumped considering how she behaves...

![]() |

I'm a real big fan of the 'rearranging' of stats before level 2. You get to play a few adventures to develop your character and adjust the stats accordingly. I may have to drop down Mort's strength to boost his other stats to how I feel he is.

![]() |

Yeah, it gives you a chance to see your character in action before you make irreversible build choices. I have 1 PC I've changed multiple times before settling on summoner. Unfortunately there are other characters who need to be rebuilt and are level 3. I don't know if I should save the PP and slowly retrain them or just build their long lost twin brother/sister at level 1...

GM Hmm |

Mort, edited my note while posting. Please look again.
