Well... Now is the time to buy them!

GM G |
Thank you all for the welcome.
GM, what I meant with "how do you handle initiative" is do you do block initiative or do you do strict initiative as per core rulebook in which each person acts on their initiative count.

GM Hmm |

Oh I block initiative. So much easier!
Sophia darling, this is going to be room full of adventurers. You decide!

On the slide show? Thanks, that will be useful for replacement GMs. Which reminds me... I should copy those blocks to the campaign tab as I promised GM G.
GM G, if you do not get a ton of requests, how are your Wednesdays? Next Wednesday, I should be AFK for most of the work day on school visits, though could catch up that night. Would you be available to cover January 18?
Hmm
EDIT: I have added both blocks and their appropriate spoiler tags to the front campaign tab in case someone other than GM G needs to quickly take over. In the last special, I went down with a flu for two days so badly I just barely had time to ping King of Anything and ask him to please, please take my table from me. I want to make sure that things are set for another GM to just be able to go if needed.
So, how I do initiative... Not only do I block it, but once we are past the last monster, I allow anyone ahead of the monster to act, whether they are in round one or round two. It will be pretty obvious how it works once we have our first round of combat.

By the way... Who all is lurking this time around? I'd love for you to introduce yourselves if you like.

Hello New Lurker Friend(s)! :D

Normally my Wednesdays are not that good (local gamesday), but I have to do the hockey-run for my son (and his teammates) to training, so I should have some time. I should be able to get at least one post in.

GM Hmm |

Thanks Gerard!
I am grateful you can help out that day. Everyone, I am sick today -- head throbbing, nose dripping, sore throat. Posts may come pretty slowly.
Hmm

Ouch. That was me a few weeks back. Don't worry about the boards, take care of yourself!

![]() |

Aw, no worries Hmm! Just get to feeling better, okay? :)

GM Hmm |

Does anyone want to roll Sophia's perception check to see if she gets a diamond? She did a lullaby spell in the surprise round (which I am allowing since she did it before my announcement) but never rolled her own perception in the rounds that followed.
Thanks.

By the way, I wanted to let you guys know that I'm consistently unable to post on Mondays until early to mid-afternoon CST (GMT -6) at the earliest so always feel free to bot me to keep things moving during that time :)

GM Hmm |

Does someone wish to bot Corona?
Hmm

GM Hmm |

The whole VL thing is far more work than I was expecting.
The To-do List is HUGE. On the other hand, I am hoping that this work will smooth things out for PbP. I am getting to act on my ideas (like announcing a year's worth of dates in advance.)

![]() |

Hang in there Hmm, you can do it!
Also I think Corona is largely going to try and help out with the fighting as opposed to looking for rubies since she's probably one of the least observant PCs in the group...

GM Hmm |

Sorry about the block guys... This scenario really wants to make you work to get out of this place!

No worries, nothing like a good old-fashioned barroom brawl to start an adventure/scenario off right! :D

GM Hmm |

By the way, I am really appreciating all the bar brawl details that you are putting into your own posts. It is making this scenario come alive!

So I was at the table marked with the blue square when I ran for the pool, not the front door. I thought I'd be close enough to make it in one round but it's fine either way.

GM Hmm |

Agreed. But the rest of the party (and their rubies) were at the door. To get the rubies, that is where you needed to be. That was where my conundrum was... On the other hand, you've made it to the pool now.
I'm off for my crazy day. Thank you for taking over GMG. Huzzah for smooth transistions of power!
Hmm

GM Hmm |

Gerard, thanks for continuing to bot my table. Although I am here, I am prepping madly for a convention that I have to travel to tomorrow. They've had some GMs drop and they asked me to prep more tables. (And I am at work.) The bots have been very welcome.
Everyone, I will be gone from tomorrow to Monday. I think for continuity purposes I will leave you all in Gerard's capable hands until then. Gerard, your posts have been lovely. Thank you so very much.

Okay Hmm, hang in there and have fun at the con!

GM Hmm |

Cons are fun but they can be a complete mixed bag. Sometimes you are running non-stop with a waiting list for your tables. Sometimes, you are sitting at an empty table wondering, "Where is everyone?"
I am traveling to this one in South Dakota to repay a favor. When I talked about the Oversubscribed Overflow Archives Table at Convergence, it was an organizer from South Dakota who saved the day for me by running another table. Convergence is an incredibly popular con of 5000 people that generates lots of new members for us, but it does not allow free badges for GMs, and the badges cost 150 dollars at the door. This meant that we were incredibly short-staffed all con.
So when Josh bailed us out, and then stayed all con with us to run quests and keep us from imploding, I told him that I would come out to help in South Dakota if he ever wanted it. So... Off I go.
I really hope that my tables fire. If they don't, I am bringing Phantom Phenomena as a backup and shanghaing passersby. "Come on, I know you can give me an hour... Try a roleplaying game!"
Hmm
PS. See you all Monday. Magabeus, thank you!

GM G |
Have fun Hilary, and thank you for the kind words about my posts!
Sophia: Ei-con might be an opportunity...

![]() |

Magabeus, that link gets me to this game's cover page.
But i've found the site and will take a look.
Btw, i'm curious who i've shooed off.
Hopefully not some high profile vigilante out for blood.

You might find out later....
Sorry for the wrong link! Note that in my opinion Ei-con's location is not that well suited for a con, tables are rather close together. Upside: the bar is well stocked and it is always fun!

We had a Con here in Maine I think it was last weekend... Snow Con! Bangor. Pretty sure they do some pathfinder but I never can make it, their timing is pretty poor for people that go outside in the winter. Lots of board games and RPGs and what have you.
