in this case, Aid Another would be flavor-texted as throwing rocks, mud, or anything else at the opponent. Animal companions can help as well by looking intimidating or trying to distract the opponent. you can give a flat +2 bonus through the use of distracting spells... although anything that requires a save needs to make the save, first. each spell grants a +2 bonus, 0 level spells only grant the +2 on the first casting).

Rounds matter here, since it's actually going to be opposed by an NPC rather than against a static DC

as for fame bonus, you'd get the +6 to one roll, or you could do +2, +2, +2

How do I aid Another here? I'd like to help Thoku, but not sure how - even after reading your post D.o.a.a.f….

@Also a bit confused on the terminology. I've got 8 Fame, but got two consecutive bonuses of "+2 to next trial" - one from the Trial of the Word Hoard, which I used in the Trial of Thunder, which netted me the second bonus of +2 to my next trial… I thought Fame was distinct from the Trials…?!?!?

Fame is distinct from Trial bonus.
So when I said "fame bonus" it should have been "trial bonus"
. :)

I'll wait to see if Shakraal's gonna aid this round.

Also, sorry about the confusion on the Fame vs Trial bonuses. I was typing on my phone, and somehow iPhone borked the post. I blame Steve Jobs.

just posted the start of the grapple. Thoku can describe what he's going to do.

I'll resolve that first. First, he needs to make the grapple check to overcome the Brute's CMD. If he can do that, then whoever had the biggest grapple check takes control of the grapple. And, gets to attempt

Then everyone can Aid Another again (intimidate, spells, throw stuff, etc) If they get caught casting spells, though, Thoku will lose the round, so try and be sneaky about it. Thoku can also act at this time with his next grapple maneuver thingy

A round is "Won" when someone instigates a pin, shoves his foe into the spikes on the side of the pit (via strength check or trip), or knocks the guy out through nonlethal damage.

I think that's clear. But, knowing how I've been bungling the trials, um.. it's probably full of holes the size of Canada.

@Shakraal, ya. I'm doing it this way for the trials b/c they're a special case. This won't work in actual combat. I wanted everyone to be able to participate in each trial, instead of just RP or watch the pretty words on the screen.

i would not mind another trial but we might have to do it after some of our casters get their spells back

So, it's been so long, and you guys have really gelled, I was wondering about just doing an open recruitment. And, that got me to thinking: you guys have gelled, what do you think would work best with the group we have now, considering that Thoku's gone?

Ehrmm. no. Not unless there was a Synthesist Summoner among them… ;)

I was both surprised and pleased that DM Dragon let one in.

I think an open recruitment would work fine, but I'm sure I'll be pretty vocal about what I like. Just ask Tyler/Kern.

Up to you DM Dragon… It's going to be a good plot wrench to lose Thoku considering how masterfully he won. When his player said

Agreed, Thoku was a serious asset and it will suck to lose him. I'll try to take some time to look through the other submissions and see if I can find one that stands out from before.

Hello everyone and I am so happy that things have been able to change right now I'm only able to hold on to for games I'm dropping all the other games I'm in but I like this one too much and I do plan to stay in it
