Agreed....a bad charisma score could be portrayed a few different ways, but this is definitely how I picture Harrow with a low Cha. :)

"My friend, Harrow, is right. Although he is somewhat abrasive in his manner of communicating. We must find another shard. Let us continue looking," says Mareq.

At the door down the corridor...
Crafted of iron and bone, a massive door blocks the way west. A mural of human and animal bones on the walls depicts humans and woodland creatures in a forest. On the left side of the door, humans kneel before a massive tree. Between them is a thumb- sized hole. On the right side of the door, a man slits his own throat, blood pooling on the trunk of the tree. In the carving of the bloody pool is another thumb-sized hole.
The holes look kind of like they're roughly the same size as that glowing shard you found in the cursed room.
Is this the set of double doors halfway down the hallway to the south?

I went ahead and put us in position, with Harrow wandering to the south of the mid-point double doors.

"My friend, Harrow, is right. Although he is somewhat abrasive in his manner of communicating. We must find another shard. Let us continue looking," says Mareq.
"But wait!" exclaims Mareq softly. "Perhaps I may summon aid for us in this matter."
He concentrates upon the border between worlds, looking with his Other Sight until he finds Someone. He quietly, silently beseeches the being on the Other Side... until a warm and calming radiance appears. [Augmented] Summon Monster III: Lantern Archon.
An orb of light moves with a preternatural silence and otherworldly grace toward Mareq and addresses him. I agree, Mareq ibn Bolthuni. This temple of a forgotten horror must be examined and made safe. First, let me offer you some small aid.
Casts Aid on each Pathfinder, minus Valais.
The orb dips slightly when it senses Valais. The lantern archon Detects Evil when it sees Valais.
If Valais continues to detect as Non-Evil: Wait here, seekers of righteousness. I shall explore the room beyond these doors and return to you within a few moments. The orb of heavenly light vanishes with an inaudible <pop>.
Greater Teleport into the room beyond the doors.

The Lantern Archon's Aid grants the target a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and saves against fear effects, plus temporary hit points equal to 1d8 + caster level (to a maximum of 1d8+10 temporary hit points at caster level 10th).
Temp HP for Mareq: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Temp HP for Berosius: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Temp HP for Davinia: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Temp HP for Quartz: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Temp HP for Harrow: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Temp HP for Uthred: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
These hit points last for 3 minutes.

"What just happened to me? What did you do? Did I get cursed? What is that thing?" Uthred asks the others and then follows the half orc down the southern corridor.
Mareq Bolthune

Mareq looks at the departing Uthred and Harrow.
"It is a Lantern Archon, a messenger from the heavenly planes. An ANGEL. Didn't you just hear its heavenly voice?"
Oh well, thinks Mareq as Uthred walks away from the bulk of the party.
Mareq Bolthune
|
On second thought, GME, I imagine it is not my place to have the archon go about buffing players without their consent. Anybody want an Aid, please consider that the archon casts this upon you. Otherwise, forget the extra HP and +1. Sorry 'bout that.

The earth elemental, unable to Aid any of the Pathfinders as an angel might, glides through the floor into the next room, scouting the situation.

"And how is that moving rock supposed to help us? Will he boulder his way around alerting them to our presence? Sheesh..."
Mareq grits his teeth at the naysaying Uthred.
It is not his fault. That cursed gem fragment has turned him cynical, Mareq reminds himself.
"Worry not, good Uthred. Grnkshykgnx will glide silently through the floor, his elemental body becoming one with it, until he can rise up in the next room."

I like how you're envisioning and playing a low charisma. Who would've thought "grumpy" was the result of low charisma!

Mareck, I don't think you need to ask permission to have your summons buff us with beneficial spells. I know you changed the summons, but still...a buff is a buff! :)
Harrow frowns at Uthred. "Harrow not sure why Uthred gotta be so rude! Earth creatures have feelings too! Some people!!!" he yells at the top of his lungs, then smashes his nodachi violently into the wall.
Ready to go south if Mareck doesn't find anything with the elemental.

Do you have a mental link with the elemental? It has been destroyed--though you may not know it.
I presume you mean, the elemental has been destroyed. If so, you pose a good question. Mareq can now summon another ally (he cannot use his summons power without banishing the previously summoned creature). The summoner description says that a summoner cannot summon both his eidolon and a Summon Monster at the same time because it "uses the same power." Does a summoner know when this power is available? Either way, the elemental does not return.
How many?: 1d3 ⇒ 3
When the elemental does not return, Mareq summons three earth elementals.
This time, he casts invisibility on one of them and sends all of them on the same missio: earth glide into the room, all in different spots where they can observe each other (except for the invisible one), see what there is to see, and then report back to Mareq. They are smart enough to plan together locations on opposite sides of the room, so if something is watching one direction/attacking in one direction, the other elemental will be behind the attacker.
Mareq Bolthune

How would they know what the "different spots" are? For all they know, they could end up in three separate rooms.
Good point, I guess. If they can't sense where the stone/dirt ends, then they spread out within a small confined space, approximately a 20ft radius with the door as the starting point/center of the theoretical circle. Most rooms with double doors are big, with the room at least five or ten feet wider than the double doors. I've chosen three spots for them to come up into an assumed room behind the doors. Put them on the map in those spots. The red one is invisible. Also, upon reading Earth Glide I note that the elementals make no visible ripple or any other movement or remnant of their passing through the earth. I'm hoping that means the invisible one is unnoticeable when it pokes its head out of the floor.

Watch. It is probably a corridor beyond the doors and they come up in solid stone walls. Neat problem to solve though.

Scorched earth and burned grass cover this round chamber's floor. In the center of the room stands a tall tree, its blackened bark seeping blood-red sap and its branches twisted and thorny. Glowing silvery runes circle the base of the tree. At the base of the tree lays a lithe, bronze-skinned man missing his left arm, a puddle of blood pooled beneath him. His right hand lies just inside the circle, and a single word is scratched in the dirt near his fingertips.

Harrow tries to see from a distance what is spelled in the dirt, but can't quite make it out.
He inches closer to see what the word says. On very rare occasion, he has been practicing readin'.

Does anything happen to the elementals? Do they see who did this to the man?
Elemental's Perception rolls: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Elemental's Perception rolls: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Elemental's Perception rolls: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Can they read the runes? Perhaps see what type/language it looks like? Perhaps if it is a planar language?
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
They remain separated from each other, assuming some sort of an attack felled the man may target them, as well.

"You know what Hork! I have had about enough of your bad attitude! You are about as useful as that moving rock that never came back... and about as smart too..." Uthred says bluntly then moves to the back of the group...

Harrow cannot see it--this is what the elementals see in the closed room. You won't be able to get in till you find the other crystal.
Sorry, I thought that is what we saw going around the corner in the south. My bad...forgot about the earth elementals.
Harrow glares at Uthred, wondering why he, and everyone else, had suddenly become so irritable, so impatient, and so downright ugly.
"Harrow hate his life!!!" the half-orc yells. When the others have finished their aimless meandering and petty insults, he punches the wall and turns the corner to the south.
Mareq Bolthune

The elementals know nothing. They see nothing other than what has been described. The party doesn't now anything about this until at least one elemental leaves to report back.
OK. Assuming nothing else, the elementals return and describe what they saw.
"How big was the room?" asks Mareq, hoping to give Quartz some addl data to record.
Lets move south down the corridor.

"Harrow hate his life!!!"
Yikes! Flashbacks to my adolecent / teenage nieces. *ducks and covers* ;-P
__________I've updated the map to reveal the room. Please take a moment to update your marching order and let me know how you wish to proceed down the hallway--keeping in mind that you've encountered several traps already...
GM Engleaktig
|
It's not possible for the elementals to perceive the trap--even if they take 20. So, as they approach the door... A vertical curtain of whirling blades shaped of pure force springs into existence.
Elemental Reflex Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
Elemental Reflex Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
Elemental Reflex Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13
Damage: 8d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 2, 1) = 39
*Poof!* The elementals are gone. The whirling blades are still there. You don't know how long they'll be there. Also, much like the previous trap, you don't know if it resets. And, if it does reset, you don't know the reset interval.

Seeing the elementals get sliced out of existence Uthred exclaims "Awww... just great... really?"

Harrow sighs loudly, looking beyond exasperated at Quartz.
"Let Harrow guess...can't figure out trap? What you good for anyway? Putting teeny tiny hands in cracks to get stuff out? Limbo? Hiding from burglars? Talk to children?"
The half-orc signs again.
Sorry. :/ Go around to the other side?
Berosius
|
"I don't like this place," says Berosius, glumly. "Don't mind them, Quartz," he adds, "It's been a bad day for them. They'll feel better after some rest in a nicer place than this. Come on, let's go look around the other side. If that doesn't do it, let's try to open that door."
Realizing the big folk aren't doing well, Berosius tries to lead the group back around the circle.

you crack me up Harrow
Heh...thanks! I really like playing Harrow. Sometimes I don't even know what he's going to do! I also give lots of credit to GM Engleaktig for Harrow's personality. Every scenario Harrow has played in (almost to level 6!) has been run by Engleaktig, and a lot of his humor has rubbed off here. The very first run, I described how ugly Harrow was, but he had Janira have the hots for Harrow because he was SO ugly, and it's been fun seeing what Harrow will do ever since. I hope I'm not overdoing the 1 Cha, though. :)

"Awww great... just great.. now what...? I hate to rain on your parade but I dont think we will get past this obstacle...any bright ideas... except from you Harrow..." Uthred says and slumps his shoulders leaning against the wall.

Harrow looks like he is about to physically assault Uthred, his temper is so frayed, but he settles for attacking the wall repeatedly with his weapons, fists, and feet.
Not sure I'm in the state of mind to help figure out the trap...I'M SO MAD!!!
