Quartz!
Seeing him drop, Davina casts a spell walks forward and touches him. She briefly looks down at her garments and moves on.
I wonder that that crazy ifrit will do. I hope I don't get blood on my new clothes. I paid a lot for this outfit.
cure serious
csw: 3d8 + 7 ⇒ (6, 3, 1) + 7 = 17

![]() |

This is round 1
Botting Berosius.
The halfling Oracle follows Davina and delivers some healing to Quartz: (CLW: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7) The gnome now has 15 HP.
____________________________________________________________
This is round 2
Mareck+Husarq: Go! (weapon is stuck to the enemy)
Harrow: Go!
Uthred: Go!
Enemy: Wait (has taken 36 HP of damage)
Quartz: Wait (prone)
Berosius: Wait
Davina: Wait

Husarq |

Husarq watches as Harrow's blade is stuck to the creature and wonders, will al-Saif burn through the thing's gluey substance?
He cries out in Ignan, "لهب!" and al-Saif bursts into flame up and down the curved blade. Husarq smiles and feels the warmth of the fire.
He swings
Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Slashing dmg: 2d6 + 14 ⇒ (2, 4) + 14 = 20
Fire dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Bleed: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Husarq reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
NOTE: It was Harrow's blade that got stuck, not Husarq's.

GME: is this thing standing? If Mareq casts Grease will it fall (assuming a failed saving throw)?
Regretting Mareq's action. I should know by now that nearly anything is better than a caster shooting his crossbow. :(

![]() |

NOTE: It was Harrow's blade that got stuck, not Husarq's.
Correct! Sorry about the typo.
GME: is this thing standing? If Mareq casts Grease will it fall (assuming a failed saving throw)?
In character, you have no idea. I haven't seen anyone make a sufficiently high Knowledge(Dungeoneering) check to know. Because this creature has a crazy "look" to it, it is difficult to tell if it even has legs at all. I mean: it was a door one second, and now it's a giant mouth.
Regretting Mareq's action. I should know by now that nearly anything is better than a caster shooting his crossbow. :(
:-)
____________________________________________________________Husarq swings his fiery weapon at the enemy. Unfortunately, he fails to land an effective hit.
Mareck, at something of a loss with regards to this creature, tries to shoot it with his crossbow. But, the missile simply sticks to his enemy's gooey hide without doing any damage.
____________________________________________________________
Mareck+Husarq: Attack and miss
Harrow: Go! (weapon is stuck to the enemy)
Uthred: Go!
Enemy: Wait (has taken 36 HP of damage)
Quartz: Wait (prone)
Berosius: Wait
Davina: Wait

Harrow and Uthred are up!

"Hey!" Harrow exclaims. "You get peanut butter stuck in Harrow's chocolate! Or chocolate in peanut butter? Harrow's weapon not working, but Harrow have more!" the confused half-orc says as he decides to leave his nodachi where it is, draws his heavy flail, and flails away.
MW heavy flail (silver, power attack, furious focus, studied target, flanking, precise strike): 1d20 + 11 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 1 + 2 = 191d10 + 14 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 14 + 1 + (1) = 21

![]() |

Uthred will take his turn aiding the Flailing cavaliers attack...
Aid: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
"OK weapons sticking out of this thing is not normal....any suggestions?"

![]() |

This is still round 2
____________________________________________________________
Aided by Uthred, Harrow strikes his enemy solidly with his backup weapon! Unfortunately, despite the power of his blow, the enemy seems to roll with the force of the injury and doesn't suffer as much damage as the half-orc expected. Thankfully, this time, his weapon is not stuck fast to the enemy.
Harrow Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
____________________________________________________________
The not-a-door creature retaliates:
Gore: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28, Damage: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Slam: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (16) + 16 = 32, Damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (4, 6) + 10 = 20
Slam: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (10) + 16 = 26, Damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 2) + 10 = 13
Harrow drops down to -4 HP! (You traded out orc ferocity, right? So, you're unconscious and prone.) The creature roars triumphantly with a voice so unnatural that it seems offensive to life itself. "ਅਖੀਰ ਤੇ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਫੀਡ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ"
Uthred has lost his flank buddy.
____________________________________________________________
Mareck+Husarq: Attack and miss
Harrow: Attack, but now unconscious
Uthred: Aid another
Enemy: Attack (has taken 52 HP of damage)
Quartz: Go! (prone, but conscious)
Berosius: Go!
Davina: Go!

The last thing Harrow thinks before the lights go out, is Harrow seem to spend lot of time with lights out.

Husarq |

"DIE, CREATURE!" shouts Husarq as he swings his blade.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Slashing dmg: 2d6 + 14 ⇒ (6, 3) + 14 = 23
Fire dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Bleed: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Total dmg: 33

ROUND 2
Botting Berosius
CLW on Harrow: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
The big lug is now prone with 22 HP.
____________________________________________________________
ROUND 3
Fire dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 4
No need. This thing won't take your fire damage.
Mareq steps up to Husarq and touches him with his wand of Mage Armor.
So, is Husarq's effective AC 23 or 27 now?
____________________________________________________________Husarq, spurred on by Mareck's force of personality, swings his sword mightily and connects! Yet again, the creature seems to ignore some of the blow.
____________________________________________________________
Mareck+Husarq: done this round
Harrow: Go! (prone, but conscious)
Uthred: Go!
Enemy: Wait (has taken 76 HP of damage)
Quartz: Wait (prone, but conscious)
Berosius: Wait
Davina: Wait
ROUND 3

![]() |

Mareq was unable to get off his Mage Armor & Shield combo at the beginning of this combat, so Husarq's effective AC is currently 22, after Mareq's casting of MA.

![]() |

is there anything Uthred can do to draw the attention of the foe away from Harrow so the man can stand up unmolested?

![]() |

Does Husarq need a Reflex save due to mimics adhesive?
Yes, please. Thanks for the reminder.
is there anything Uthred can do to draw the attention of the foe away from Harrow so the man can stand up unmolested?
Unmolested? That's a tough one. Harrow also dropped his weapon, so he also needs to either draw a third weapon or provoke by picking up the dropped weapon... I suppose you could make it attack you, THEN take an attack of opportunity. It would have no remaining actions to maul Harrow.

![]() |

Whoops! I made a couple of typos... :-(
1) The DC of the reflex save is 23 (to not have your weapon stuck). Thus, Harrow's flail *is* stuck to the creature.
2) The creature's gore damage is 2d6+10. I'm not going to retcon this because that changes too many actions, and we'd have to redo too much of the combat.
Apologies for the errors, everybody.

Husarq |

The DC of the reflex save is 23 (to not have your weapon stuck).
Well, s#*!. I guess it is claw attacks from here on out.

![]() |

With this not being the first time Harrow has been in and out of consciousness fighting on his back, the half-orc knows what to do. He takes the greatclub clinging tenuously to his back and swings with all his might.
greatclub atk (power attack, furious focus, studied target, flanking, precise strike): 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 + 1 + 2 = 291d10 + 14 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 14 + 1 + (3) = 22
I don't provoke for drawing this weapon, only picking up another, right? If it does provoke, I'll just use my spiked gauntlet. And thanks for the heals, guys!!!

Husarq |

Husarq wrote:You can also make a standard action strength check...GM Engleaktig wrote:The DC of the reflex save is 23 (to not have your weapon stuck).Well, s!%+. I guess it is claw attacks from here on out.
Well, if the reflex save is DC23, I fear what the strength check is. I can't make the Reflex, except by a natural 20. If the strenght check is similar, I max out at 25 when rolling a natural 20 (which isn't an auto succeed with a check, the way it is with a save or hit, right?).

![]() |

Yep doesn't provoke but its a move action so you need quick draw unless you haven't used you move.

![]() |

Ever a walking armory, Harrow pulls out yet another weapon! Which is also held fast by the enemy's gooeyness.
Harrow Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Mareck+Husarq: Wait
Harrow: Wait (prone, but conscious)
Uthred: Go!
Enemy: Wait (has taken 93 HP of damage)
Quartz: Wait (prone, but conscious)
Berosius: Wait
Davina: Wait

Husarq |

You've already borne witness to Husarq's fire attack. It had no effect, though it was only 1d6. Without the knowledge check, it's hard to tell if it's merely resistant or completely immune.
I am inclined, however, to allow a sense motive check to gauge the enemy's reaction to the attack.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

![]() |

Uthred, it's taken a lot of damage. I think our best bet here is to try to take it down with more. Break out those backup weapons, lads!

![]() |

Son of a... My board has been showing me no new posts, now suddenly there's 44! I guess when it's blank for an extended time I should open it to check. Sigh. Post in a few minutes.

Berosius holds up a beautiful silver rose, the symbol of his patroness, Milani, the Everbloom. The little oracle's skin seems to glow with the power of the life spirit he is channeling. "Lady of Justice, opener of shackles, aid us now in the hour of our need!"
Channel Positive Energy (exclude door creature) and Beacon of Hope!
Channel Energy: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 1) = 8
Everyone who was healed by the channel takes a +2 moral bonus on all saving throws, attack rolls, ability checks and skill checks for the next 4 rounds!

![]() |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Bummer. :-( The DC for a "hunch" is 20.
____________________________________________________________Uthred is still up. Harrow urges his to attack. Berosius channels positive energy.
This is still round 3
Mareck+Husarq: Wait
Harrow: Wait (prone, but conscious)
Uthred: Go!
Enemy: Wait (has taken 93 HP of damage)
Quartz: Wait (prone, but conscious)
Berosius: Channel Positive
Davina: Wait
Pausing here for Uthred, since this feels like a pivotal moment in the combat.

Botting Uthred
Saw Toothed Sabre 1+TWF: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26, STS1 DMG: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
STS2+TWF: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9, Miss
Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Uthred strikes at the creature twice. He hits it once for a couple of HP of damage, and one of his sabres is now stuck to the creature.

Harrow: Wait (prone, but conscious)
Uthred: TWF
Enemy: Go! (has taken 95 HP of damage)
Quartz: Wait (prone, but conscious)

The creature, presuming that Quartz and Harrow are at its mercy, full attacks Uthred:

Slam: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (18) + 16 = 34, Damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 5) + 10 = 18
Slam: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21, Damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 3) + 10 = 14
The slayer takes 47 HP of damage. But, he remains standing (at 2 HP).

Uthred: Wait
Enemy: Wait (has taken 95 HP of damage)

Since Berosius posted out of order, Uthred, you now take 8 HP back, and you've got 10 HP.
Quartz and Davina are up!

Harrow moves on to his quaternary weapon, though he does not know that is what it is called. The half-orc half-orc stands after using his litany of sloth swift action, then smashes the thing with his armored fist.
spiked gauntlet (power attack, furious focus, studied target, flanking, precise strike): 1d20 + 11 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 11 + 1 + 2 = 241d10 + 14 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 14 + 1 + (3) = 24
