Briefly, she looks up from her attempt to make snowshoes to examine the chest.

She also notices Jack's rather spiffy shoes, a sidles up next to him. Chloe then sweetly asks "Umm, I couldn't quite get the sticks to do the thing, could you make some snow shoes for me?"

Jack sighs at Chloe's request. "Fine, but you should really learn how to do this yourself."

Jack grabs some more twigs and starts binding them together...

...only for them to break apart in his hands.

Dammit.
"Ah...these twigs must not be quite as strong as the ones I found earlier."

So is there a limit on how often I can attempt to do this?

As Jack attempts to make the snow shoes, Chloe tries again.

Unfortunately, despite her gentler touch, the snow shoes break as she starts to put on what she had thought to be a rather well-woven pair of shoes.

Finally, Jack manages to string together some healthy branches into a sturdy pair of shoes, and hands them to Chloe.

Chloe hugs Jack, gives him a swift peck on the cheek, and dons the snow shoes.

Azor, you begin to feel incredibly cold-it seems that hypothermia has already begun to set in.

Take 4 points nonlethal, and until you get warmed up, you're treated as fatigued.

However, though his teeth are chattering he is able to see something up in the trees-it seems as if a spiked log has been strapped up in the canopy, ready to swing down and strike anyone who opens the chest, along with anyone standing in the path behind him.

You can try to Disable Device if anyone has it.

Chloe, after pulling the blanket out of her kit and wrapping it around Azor and telling everyone not to be in the way in case it triggers, scales the tree and disables the log trap. She does so from a position that will prevent the log from hitting her in case it does fall.

As Chloe tries to untie the knots of the rope, her fingers slip and she accidentally sets it off! The log goes crashing through the underbrush, narrowly missing the group. As it falls, its back end smashes through the branch Chloe's sitting on, completely shattering it and sending her plummeting 20 feet down face-first into a large pile of snow.

"Are you, uh, you okay?" he calls, walking forward to check on Chloe.

"I'm f-fine!" Chloe starts to get up, whimpers, and sinks back down. "Actually, I could use a minute."

Content that Chloe has suffered no lasting harm, and Azor can patch her up if need be, Sun Xiao heads off to check out the chest.

...Yeah...assuming I don't see jack. Or well I see Jack, but not on the chest.

Finding nothing out of the ordinary, Sun Xiao tries to pop the lid of the chest.

Jack looks at Chloe with a hint of worry mixed into his usual stoic-ness.

Chloe will survive, but I hope Azor's not planning to transfer her wounds onto himself again. He just might bleed himself dry to keep her alive.

Sun Xiao opens the lid of the chest, to reveal...absolutely nothing! The chest stands bare of anything, it's simply been partially buried in the ground and left, it seems.

"I think this place is pretty good place to stop for the day. We aren't going to make much progress at night and I need a warm fire and to check out Chloe's wounds. And if we could make it so everyone had a pair of snowshoes by morning that would also speed us up. What do you guys think?"

I asked Alex he said its around 7-8pm in summer so about of hour of light left

Jack nods at Azor's suggestion. "That's true. You and Chloe aren't in the best condition to deal with a cold fey encounter, either. We'll have a full day's worth of daylight tomorrow."

Sun Xiao nods at Azor's suggestion and swings his pack off of his back.

Shrugging, and having not much better to do for the moment, he starts messing with the box, on the off chance there's a false bottom of some sort, picking it up and turning it over, poking at the bottom, rapping on the sides, and so forth.

As he does that, he starts talking.

"So, we need a fire, and a watch schedule. Our spell slingers should take either first watch, or last. I know how an interrupted sleep cycle messes with your ability to cast. I can take the midnight watch, if you would like."

"Anybody have some firewood ready to go? I have Tindertwigs, but nothing to light."

Hmm. I have a couple ways to light a fire with my mind, but no firewood. Hindsight.

"I'll, uh, go gather some kindling" Assuming our snow shoe escapades haven't exhausted all the twigs in the area...

Sun Xiao pulls the box out of the ground and looks around it-nothing. It's just an empty box. Then he looks down and sees a longsword half-buried in the ground, below where the box lay.

Digging up the box, he finds the real loot that the bandits had hid-it seems that this is where the bandits had dropped off the majority of the weapons and armor stolen from Lady Argentea's guards. You find 5 sets of leather armor, 3 of studded leather, a masterwork chain shirt, 2 light wooden shields, 7 longswords, 2 spears, a masterwork dagger, and 3 light crossbows and 25 bolts.

I'm going to assume that it's about 9:30 once you guys finish making camp/snowshoes-since you've got a fire, no need to save against hypothermia for now. Azor, you're no longer fatigued after tonight. Might want to divy up the loot/watch times? You guys decide.

I could always use more bolts, and I can take a longsword and leather armor as well. I could also take the dagger unless someone else thinks they could make better use of it. I don't think any of the rest is useful for me.

I'll take a studded leather armor, and I only need 4 hours of rest since I'm an Elan. So i can do it first and then be up all night either alone or with someone. Chloe having dark vision makes her a very nice choice for midnight watch.

Aight, sounds good.

Sun Xiao pulls off his old studded leather armor and pulls on the chain shirt, making sure it fits comfortably. Moving around a bit, he's satisfied that it will hinder his movements no more than the leather would, and will probably provide better protection.

He tosses his old armor into the chest and rolls out his bedroll and blankets, lying back and looking up at the stars for a while before falling asleep.

Chloe picks up the masterwork dagger and a light crossbow along with 12 quarrels.

Jack puts on one of the sets of leather armor and picks up a longsword, giving it a few practice swings. Excellent, I should now be less helpless if I get caught in melee range.

Then he gathers up the remaining 13 bolts into his quiver. I really can't have too many of these...especially if that zombie incident was any indication of my usual aiming skills.

As the rest of the group starts to fall asleep, Jack decides to pass the time and keep himself awake by making snowshoes for Azor and Ghulassen (while keeping his crossbow within reach at all times).

Craft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Craft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Craft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Satisfied with his work, Jack lays out his bedroll and sits on it, loaded crossbow in hand, and quietly waits out the rest of his shift.

Azor picks up a studded leather armor and exchanges it with his leather armor. He then gives Chloe back her blanket takes out his own wraps it around himself and sits down next to the fire. With that he closes his eyes takes a deep breath and enters a sleep-like state.

You pass the night without anything of interest happening-besides hearing a few animals in the woods, nothing comes close to your campsite. Those who had been wounded (or inflicted injuries on themselves) the previous day awaken to find themselves a bit more rested.

You guys heal 8 nonlethal, and if you took lethal damage (cough Chloe cough) you heal 1.

It's around 8 in the morning after you guys all wake up/eat/pack up all your belongings. The sun is already shining brightly, but you can tell that it's going to be just as cold in here as it was last night. Thankfully, it didn't snow much more during the night-the trail is as clear as it was yesterday, footprints and all.

As you continue on, you enter a small gully. The snow becomes increasingly deep in this part of the forest, making it incredibly difficult to move-even with snowshoes. The air is unnaturally still, even for this area of the forest.

"Everybody ready to get started?" he says, looking around.

Satisfied that they are, he moves on ahead, the others not far behind him. Or so I assume by Alex's post.

After a while, he enters a gully, and begins sloshing through the deep snow.

Wow. Y'all BARELY made that check by assisting. Good job!

Sun Xiao scans the area, and almost misses seeing a large, serpentine figure almost perfectly blended into the snow. As he points it out to the group, it plunges into the deep drifts, headed straight towards the group.

Initiative, and DC 10 Knowledge (Nature) check to at least identify the thing. You've got about a round before it reaches you-but your speed's pretty much quartered in the deep snow, so you may want to take that into account. It's also got complete concealment whilst submerged in the snow, like it is right now.
