Shilyn inspects the door expertly, finding no sounds or traps. Opening the door, the rogue is rewarded with a macabre scene. A filthy mattress lies on the floor and an open wooden chest is filled with grisly bone trophies: a spinal cord wrapped into a pretzel shape with flesh still attached, two skulls embraced into a kissing position and resting on a pelvis all covered in runes, and several necklaces of fingerbones bound by sinew make up only a small portion of the various fetishes and trophies found here. Next to it, an open latrine is visible, although the smell informs you that it has not been cleaned in a long, long time.

Stepping back from the door, she melodramatically holds her nose with one hand while pointing with her rapier in the other.

Deaglan steps into the room and turns back again, face white "but you are right about this one, yuck!"

He then carefully scans the room and steps forward to get a look into the latrine.

Shilyn follows along the western hallway, finding cramped cell after cramped cell. Most of them are empty, but a few still have bound men and women laying on a dirty wooden cot, their clothing soiled with lack of changing.

Following the path across both bends, the half-elf returns to the main hall.

The other hallway is much the same; mostly empty cells with a few patients trapped within. However, Shilyn spies a small hidden tunnel in the northern cell closest to the hallway.

Peering into one of the many cells, Shilyn's brow furrows. "Hey, Deaglan," she says softly as she points with the tip of her rapier toward a spot on the far wall. "Does that appear to be a tunnel at the back of this cell? If so, where does it go, I wonder?"

If no one else goes in... Varian will enter the cell and look down the tunnel with his darkvision... If nothing happens and/or he sees nothing untoward, he will head down the tunnel a little ways to see what's there... anyone following?

Before Deaglan can get himself in, Varian makes his way into the cell (with Shilyn's assistance with unlocking the door).

The stench of dried blood lingers in this cell. The floor, walls, even the ceiling are covered in damp clots of blood, tufts of hair and skin, and bone fragments.

The tunnel itself is dark, and being only 3 feet around, calls for Varian to move cautiously and slowly through the blood-stained path.

Varian makes it about a third of the way through when his keen eyes notice a lanky humanoid hanging onto the gritty ceiling, a club in one hand. It seems like it was waiting for him!

if the creature is still clinging to the wall, Varian moves 5' to be directly under (next to, whatever) so Deaglan can attack as well.

@Varian: No room to move under it; this is a cramped tunnel that is honestly too small for either you or this thing to be in appropriately (there's maybe 6-8 inches of clearance under its frame). Such that it would be -4 to attack rolls and -4 to AC, but between you and it, those modifiers cancel each other out.

Varian cuts the creature with the dagger and is growls at him.

Shilyn keeps her eyes on their back trail as the others attempt to work their way through the narrow tunnel. Sheathing her rapier, she reaches over her shoulder to draw her new shortsword before taking up a position to the side of the cell door and into what shadows there are.

This is a morlock, a humanoid typically found in lightless caverns. They are expect climbers, able to climb anything if it has handholds and have exceptional darkvision. They often make powerful leaping attacks to harass and weaken prey. They also bear a severe weakness to bright lights. Finally, this creature seems exceptionally powerful for its size, perhaps an exemplar of its species.
