"I've travelled on a ship as well as part of an Ulfen reiver crew, not much choice in the matter kinda like on this ship, but I learned a few things, like drinking water is very important"
He emphasises his point by filling the bucket he swabbing the deck with by using his create water.

Jerieth |

"Wow, so are you from the Lands of the Linnorn Kings? Never been there myself." She then added, "You must have some interesting stories."

Sunny, |

Sunny's large, expressive blue eyes seem to grow even wider at people's telling of their tales and travel. She almost hangs off ever word, though some times she repeats a new word she hasn't probably heard before.
At noting the comments by Sawib to the other, quiet fellow though what her thoughts are remain unknown as she suddenly bounces over to Stoma,
"Here! I heard that were a place wher tha' water.. tha' water it jus' stops!" She says sounding completely incredulous. She waves a tanned arm out over the rolling waves,
"Whut sort'a power be it can make tha' whole ocean jus' stop?" She asks, her thoughts obviously warring between believing/understanding the tales she's heard and what she currently knows of the world. She looks to Stoma for understanding/explanations.

Stoma Argento |

A little taken aback..
"Yes I have a few stories, but mainly tales of harsh realities and yes Suny the water looks like it stops but it doesn't it flows around the areas of land that are high enough that they stick out of the water"

Jerieth |

While happy for her friend, the undine asked her to calm down.
"Now don't get too excited Sunny. Remember we have to be careful. And maybe one day Stoma you can tell us those stories of yours."
Taking 10 on both perception and profession (sailor) so that gives me 11 and 15: perception to see if she sees any of the others who were press ganged like the red haired woman and profession to see if she realizes what the ship's heading is and where we might be heading.

The Vudrani Man speaks slow and surely with no inflection at all...as if you're all but something to be dealt with unfortunately.
"I'm Maheem and I have being tasked to show you around the ship. If you could cease your jabbering and listen. We can do this quickly." Although his tone is bland but the usage of his words seems to indicate that he's not impressed with any of of your exploits.
"We do this quickly and we can all get back to our tasks. Yours is to know the ship and then get to work. You're all Swabs and your task is to clean the deck and polish the railings today." he points to each of you baring one.
"You will needed up the crow's nest and swiftly. Another will show you the ropes." looking Derek directly in the eye.
"School? An interesting question." with not a single expression he turns to Sawib and subtley shifts. To the untrained eye, it seems that he just shifted his weight from one leg to the other. To one trained in Sawib's Arts, his posture just changed to an offensive stance that focused on rapid jabs and strikes to joints.
He waits for all your answers though his expression once more gives nothing away.

Drak Roberts |

"I've been on a few different vessels. The most recent i was doing very well but the crew took affront, got me drunk and here i am. Funny that."Drak says with a cold, sharp laugh. "I've never met an Undine before i didn't know you could drink sea water. Thats a skill that could be most useful." He says to Jerieth, clearly impressed by this ability.

Jerieth |

Sighing, Jerieth wasn't pleased. She had thought about tricking Plugg into letting her and Drak be the riggers but she decided against it. The undine had a lot of pride in herself and she wouldn't taint it by begging such a despicable man like Plugg. Still she wasn't above rubbing the fact that he was unfair and overlooked her talents in his face! Oh that thought brought a smile to her face.
She then said to Drak, "Thank you. At least someone knows how to treat a lady fairly, and good luck on being rigger, wish I was up there with you."
She then thanked Maheem saying, "Thank you Maheem for telling us. We appreciate it."
Jerieth smiles at him as she goes back to scrubbing.

Redo Metazzo |

Redo falls silent and moves as far away from Jerieth as possible, to the opposite side of the group. He continues to stand there as the undine furiously scrubs and polishes the deck, pointedly ignoring her attempts at communication.
I cannot believe she just openly talked of mutiny! Mere minutes after a man was keel-hauled for thievery! And out in the open air, no less!
Redo eyes the other crew on the deck going about their business, the few in the rigging...one over at the opposite rail, coiling rope...
and this Maheem, a senior sailor or another officer? Turning Jerieth in would be an excellent play for him. Rooting out trouble before it showed up would be an easy way for him to show loyalty to the officers...it would be highly unfortunate for Jerieth though.
Perhaps if everyone ignores her...treats her like she is mad, we can keep her alive? Is she even worth the effort?
Redo ponders this a bit while waiting for Maheen to take them on the "tour" of the Wormwood, and deep down he wonders if everyone will survive the day.

Jerieth |

Actually Redo she was talking about jumping ship when they reach port.
Jerieth noticed that Redo was quiet. Wondering if she had somehow inadvertently offended him she went over to him and began talking to him.
"What's wrong Redo? Something bothering you? You're not getting seasick are you mate?"
Deciding that he might be concerned about the keelhauling, she put an arm around him and whispered, "Now don't you worry Redo. All we have to do is be extra careful until we reach port and then we're jumping ship, lay low for awhile until the Wormwood leaves us and then we'll find another ship to serve on. So all we have to do is survive and be careful. Especially me, since Plugg is eyeing me butt like I was some sort of brothel b%%!*."
She then smiled at Redo and went back to work.

"What's wrong Redo? Something bothering you? You're not getting seasick are you mate?"
Yep...definitely touched by madness.
Redo quickly plastered a smile on his face and froze, scared to make any moves that might set her off.
She put an arm around him and whispered, "Now don't you worry Redo. Redo sighed as he watched her go back to her scrubbing. He turned back to Maheem and waited for him to continue.

Jerieth |

Smiling at Maheem, she talks to him a bit, "So Maheem how long have you served on the Wormwood and do you like to hear stories? Hm...has anyone told you that you are a good pirate not to mention if you ask me, you have the makings of a great warrior?"
Jerieth smiled at the man, turning on the charm a bit.

Warning Rather Long post
Maheem ignores all questions and attempts to get him to answer other than a,
"Finish your work first."
The work is backbreaking and despite the evening sun, sweaty as well. Once he is satisfied that the work is done then does Maheem lead you around the ship, pointing out areas to note with his own comments on it as he shows you the ship. Most of the things you'll need to know about the ship is in campaign tab
"Captain's Quarters. Rare to have visitors usually Plugg and Scourge will handle miscreants..........and not kindly." eyeing Jerieth as he says this
"Foredeck. Poop deck. Off limits to all except Officers. Parrot with too much words."
"Officer's quarters."
"Armory. Steal anything, pray to the gods."
"Cabin's Girl Quarters, Captain's Aide." saying nothing more about it.
"Middle Hold, Cook's Quarters. Everybody trains well in eating."
"Quartermaster's store. Quick Temper, Quicker with Axe."
"Gallery. Ambrose is a fair cook. Just not creative."
"Crew quarters. Yours is the lowest."
"Bildges. You'll love it as tradition dicates, all new swabs get aquainted with it. Everyone on the ship has done time in it when they come abroad. Also especially for those who gets on the First Mate's bad side."
Once he's done showing you around, he leads you all back to the main Deck.
"Now for the rules, gather around. I don't wish to repeat myself."
You noticed the crew has gathered around and some with anticipation of some sort.
Meanwhile throughout the 'tour', Jerieth does not spot her red-haired quarry and figures out the the pendant is a Symbol of Besmara though she can't recall exactly who Besmara is other than being a goddess of the sea worshiped by Sailors.
She does identify the rings worn by Maheem to bear powerful enchantments of concealment and protection based on the tiny intricate runes carved onto them.
Sawib on the other hand atempts to figure out the style practiced by their engimatic 'guide' can only think that despite his leaness, power flows throughout his body. This can only be acheived via rigorous training.
Drake finds that the Rigging is definitely easier now that the test is over and confirms that the one used was deliberately meant to suss out the best climbers. He does noticed a particular halfling with bare feet climbing swiftly and easily as if born to it. Though they have not exchanged words, the youthful looking halfling flashes him a grim as he performs near death defying jumps and climbs.

Jerieth |

Jerieth decided to wait and thanked Maheem for the tour but decided against it, especially when he gave her a look.
Unfortunately, Plugg already has his eye on me, and it's not to keep me out of trouble.
While she doesn't know much about her still absent redheaded quarry, she does recognize that the symbol is the holy symbol of Besmara, commonly worshipped by sailors. The undine does notice that their guide is wearing several magical rings granting him protection and concealment. Still Jerieth was going to be extra careful, deciding to stay close to the others.

Redo Metazzo |

Redo pays rapt attention to the instructions provided, totally missing whatever else was happening with the rest of the crew.
"Maheem, a question. If I had some skill in ship work and repair, is there an officer I should report to after my time in the bilge?" he asks, cautiously. "I have some skill at repair, patching, caulking and so on..."

Maheem answers Redo directly.
"The one you should offer services would be Habbly Quarne, the “Stitchman”, the ship's carpenter."
Again he waits for everyone to gather around him for him to finish his own job

The tour is finished and Maheem is waiting for all you to gather around him.

Jerieth |

Jerieth gathers around with the others wondering what is going to happen next.

Assuming everyone gathers around him.
Enter Cut Scene.
Maheem looks at all of you once.
"This is a tradition for all Swabies."
It's all the warning you get as he explodes into action.
"First rule. Never speak of Mutiny. The Captain's Word and by default his officers are law abroad this ship." A Bone crushing chop to the crook of the neck of Jerieth causing her excruiating pain.
"Second Rule. No stealing from Fellow Crewmates or ship." A cruel pull of Suny's clothes followed by an equally cruel knee to her face splatters blood as her nose gives way.
"Third Rule. Any Disputes will be called out and settled here on Deck. An Officer or Senior Sailor will Judge. Challlenges can also be called in the evening before any Engagement." A blinding fast Jab catches the cautious Redo in the middle, knocking all his breath out.
"Fourth Rule. Loot will always be divided equally and fairly with Captain picking first, followed my First Mate, officers, Senior Sailors, Sailors and lastly swabies." as he unleashes a one handed multiple blows with one hand towards Sawib starting from an open palm, stiff finger chop, closed fist and elbow smash in a manner resembling a storm.
"Fifth Rule. No Killing of Fellow Crew Member unless under the rule of Dispute." a nasty headbutt from his astoundingly hard head sends Drake Reeling.
He stands back in position, the same almost casual position he's always being in. If you had not seen it, you would not have believed the speed of which he delivers his blows. The wind picks up then blowing a sash tied around his waist out.
The crew waits. Waiting for something to happen as the entire deck is silent.

![]() |
Don't worry about HP Damage, Like I said this is mostly cinematic to give you a rough idea what the crew is like.
"Good instincts." Maheem says as his eyes seem to flash in approval at Stoma before unleashing punches and kicks in a blinding fury. Elbows, palm strikes and knees smashes are the order of the day as the placid looking Maheem measures Stoma's Length on deck.

Redo Metazzo |

"Wonderful." Redo says in a bit of a squeak, as he attempts to draw in breath. "What is a Challenge?" he finally gasps, still bent over at the waist, hands on knees.
Hopefully they all learn from this. Caution and patience are the best way to survive until a proper opportunity arises.

Maheem as stotic as ever answers.
"A duel or an excuse to cut each other up but leaves enough to work the next day. That sort of thing."

Drak Roberts |

Drak rubs his nose thanking his lucky stars that it isnt broken. [b]"Are these duels to the death or until someone yields?"[b] Drak asks.
I have never seen someone that big move that fast. I will have to try to get on his good side. Seems like he would be helpful in a fight.

Jerieth |

Damn. I guess we didn't influence him enough to move him towards friendly. :(
Jerieth groans as she struggles to get up. She manages to stumble forward to Maheem grinning like she had gone mad.
She continues to grin as she says to Maheem, "Good fighting form.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

Maheem looks at all of you.
"You'll all do if you can stand and ask questions after that. You should all take a good rest for the night. Tomorrow you'll report to the blidges again. As for the duels? Usually till you lie unconsious. rare is it the captain will allow for kills. Take note of that."
Ignoring Jerieth, he turns and with swift quick movements seems to leap from his current position and up into the crow's nest, seemly taking over Drake's watch.
There are still a few stragglers around and most turn and head down to dinner.

Sawib Tabansi |

Sawib remains silent, though the slight grimace on his face suggests that the hits startle and stun the tall man. After the series of hits, he puts a hand on his midsection to steady himself, but he remains standing.
At the comment from Sunny, he shakes his head.
"You'll survive this. We all will." Sawib blinks and for just a moment, his eyes are black like a doll's eyes. Still friendly but the pupils look strange. Definitely not human. But after blinking again, his eyes return to normal.
He returns to swabbing the deck and cleaning the rails, occasionally observing the location of Maheem.

Jerieth |

"Ouch...that's a very unique way to explain the rules aboard this ship to new recruits. But you're right Stoma, we need to stick together if we are going to survive working aboard this ship. As for what I'm going to do tonight, I'm going to mingle with the rest of crew. Try and create some friends aboard this death trap. Anyone interested in joining?"
She leans against the railing, breathing hard as she looks at the endless sea.
I'm going to survive this ship, figure out a way off it, get my own ship, and woo that beautiful redheaded siren for several nights of passion!
Well not in particular order. Besmara, Calistria, and Desna, aid me in these endeavors and protect my new friends as we try to survive this ship, Jerieth prays to her three goddesses as she swears to survive serving aboard the Wormwood.
The undine refused to allow this to destroy her spirit and swore she would become an excellent captain and surpass her own father!
In the meantime she follows Sawib's example and continues swabbing the deck.

Jerieth |

Jerieth smiles at Sawib before replying.
"Oh I know how ruthless the Shackles can be. Doesn't mean that I let it destroy my morals nor do I let it tear down my friendly personality and turn me into something I'm not mate. I've sailed aboard both privateer and pirate ships so I know how it is. And I've survived because I believed in several things: my goddesses Besmara, Calistria, and Desna; my friends; my love of the sea and freedom; my promise to me mother that I would make her proud, may Calistria bless her departed soul, and my dreams to become as famous as my father. So yeah the Shackles can be harsh but it doesn't mean that you let it transform you into something you're not or into something you don't want to be. There are good people here. You just have to look hard to find them. And my father was from the Shackles and he was both a pirate and a good man, so there you go. So I'm going to do all I can to survive and become a captain one day just like my dad."
She continues to smile as she begins to hum a pirate tune. But she adds, "And one more thing: I'm stubborn and hardheaded so that's a plus for me as well." She then points to her scar on her face.
"Got this scar from a man who sold children into slavery. I'll tell you the story about it later tonight."
She then went back to swabbing and humming.
Forgot to include the +1 bonus to her charisma checks because of her moderate scar.
