Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

Vethran rolls up his sleeve, the Varisian dragon tattoo beginning to glow menacingly.

Delaying until I get a good grouping.

"Back up! Let them come to us..."

I got a fireball for that ass... Of course, if they're weak enough, Alwyn might be able to dust them with a turn attempt and save me the slot.

Dravite rips the zombie's arm off with his hook, and it groans and gropes for him with its intact limb.

Initiative:
Dravite: 25
Illes: 20
Vethran: 15+
Undead: 15
Hudak: 9
Elisile: 7+
Alwyn: 7-

"Brainssss...." The zombies shuffle out after Dravite, seeking their warm-blooded prey.

OK, zombies in A10, B9, B15, B16, B13 move to C11, D11, C13, C14 and B13 respectively. The one in D11 provokes an AoO from Dravite. They all attack, though the one in B13 is attacking through the bars which counts as cover (-4 to hit) for Dravite. Two hits, for 2 damage each.

As they shuffle forward, there is the twang of crossbow bolts from the opposite direction. Three cloaked figures appear in the cells on the opposite side, emerging from a glamour of invisibility. Over their heads they wear horrid masks resembling horrid patchwork faces with a single bulbous, staring eye, not disimilar to that found on the late, unlamented Aldern Foxglove. They hastily move to reload.

Three cultists are at O3, T8 and Q19. Three attacks on Vethran, Alwyn and Illes. Attack on Alwyn hits - 5 damage.

Hudak.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

Hudak to d12; attack c13;
r6+11=17; damage 3+7=10 h.p.

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

For what it's worth, my see invisibility lasts for 50 minutes, so it should still be active on me.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

if cleave, cleave on c11; r12+11=21; dam 6+7=13.

Ooops. Er, well, they were hiding too. Sorry, they were a late addition to the fight, didn't really think of that. Been a bit distracted lately.

Hudak wrote:

Sorry, not enough to get the cleave.

As Hudak dashes down, the zombie flails wildly at him but he deflects the blow easily. he chops down hard into its leather flesh, revealing shrivelled viscera.

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

Grumbling as his shot is fouled, Vethran rushes forward onto the walkway.

"Dravite, archers! We need your bow!"

The Varisian stretches out a finger and unleashes a pair of sizzling bolts at some of the undead harrassing the dwarf.

I'm acting now. Move to H12, casting scorching ray. First target: C13. Touch attack: 14. Damage: 19. Second target: C11. Touch attack: 12. Damage: 16.

Vethran crisps the two zombies and they collapse with a stench of burning rotten flesh.

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

Elisilizard moves to L10, drawing her bow, and fires at the cultist at O3.

To hit: 15+9+1 = 25. Damage: 6+1+1 = 8

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

"Sweeeeeeeet!!! I love the smell of burning zombies in the morning. It smells like....like victory!!!"

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Alwyn runs towards the melee, brandishing his greatsword. "Begone, foul beasts! The Warmaster commands it!"

Move to E12 before turning undead. I got a bonus domain with my Ordained Champion PrC; I took Glory, so Alwyn's even more of a undead-turning hardass. Turn check 11+5=16, so I can turn undead with up to 6 HD. Damage 19 HD, if they have 2 or less (or 3 or less if we round up, as I turn undead like a 5th level cleric) HD, they are destroyed.

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

If they’re normal zombies, that should take care of them one way or another.

Elisile's arrow finds its target, winging the masked freak. He clutches his arm in pain. As Alwyn calls down the wrath of Gorum, the zombies all fall apart with an unpleasant squelch, disassembled limbs and organs flopping down across the walkway.

Male Dwarf Ranger/7 XP- 35674

Dravite drops his Ogre Hook at his feet(free action), un-shoulders his bow(move action), and fires off an arrow at one of the cult member archers (the one in Q18) but the shot goes wide. 1d20+8=10 to hit, 1d8+5(+3 str, +2 favored human)=11 damage.
"DAMN!! Steady-eyed, da ol' ranger said, steady-eyed..."

Illes.

HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

"Ah, now we're talking," Illes draws an arrow and pulls it back in his bow, "Finally someone who'll notice an arrow sticking out of their chests! Five gold each to the first to drop one?! Who's in?"

So saying Illes immediately proceeds to cheat by firing at the same one Elisile hit.

Shortbow vs O3 8+7 = 15
Unlikely damage: 1+2 = 3

Inspire Courage Round 1 of 5

HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

Haha. What would poor Larken say now? Gambling on murder.
Vethran up

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

Oops. I delayed last round, so I think they go before me (assuming they're sharing init with the undead). Post deleted pending enemy actions.

More crossbow bolts whizz in. The stalwarts dodge and weave, but Illes and Vethran take a few nicks nevertheless. Illes takes 4 damage, Vethran takes 2.

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

Vethran winces as the bolt bites into his hip, but intones a spell through clenched teeth to protect himself. Cast mage armor on myself. He then unlimbers his crossbow and moves to the side of the walkway nearest his attackers. Move to N11, drawing crossbow as part of that movement.

Male Dwarf Ranger/7 XP- 35674

"Heh! Looks like a couple more arrows in yer hide will be makin' one o' de cultists inta de winner! I'm in fer 5 gold, Illes, but less yappin' an' more duckin' arrows be in order!"

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

"Hudak, get the two on the nothern edge, and I'll get the one on the south!"

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

I.....will run to N3; I think I can do it; however running is 4 times your move rate in a straight line; though I note that Carl Lewis and Jesse Owens could run pretty quick around a circular edge of a track; however, if I can just do a double move, (which I think the RAW would imply) I think I can make it to i3. This counting edges is somewhat tricky.

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

Elisile runs towards the edge of the platform, leaps off into space, growing leathery dragon wings briefly that guide her towards the cultist at T8. She touches down in T9, the wings disappearing again. Used Sudden Shift to gain fly speed and then double move. Note that Elisile’s AC is currently 25 in terms of this dude attacking her.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

Crom....

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Here's the MAP again.

Alwyn runs along the southern walkkway towards the masked cultist.

Double move to I19.

I’ve always felt that the “run in a straight line” thing is to prevent using the run action to effectively give you extra movement in manouvering around the battle field and behind enemies. Changing direction whilst running is clearly a no-no, but running around a curve seems in the spirit of the rules, if not actually by the RAW. IMO.

I'm going to have to insist on double moves rather than running. The surface isn't that safe anyway. So Hudak is at I3. For Alwyn, I don't think I19 is really accessible - try I20 instead.

Dravite.

Male Dwarf Ranger/7 XP- 35674

"Cayden Cailean, guide me arrows to their mark!" Rapid shot at the one in Q18-1d20+6=18 to hit, 1d8+5=7 damage, 1d20+6=26 possible crit, 1d8+5=7 damage, 1d20+6=15 reconfirm roll, 1d8+5=6, 1d8+5=12. So if the Crit is confirmed with 15, then it does 25 damage.

Dravite's arrows slip between the bars of the cell door, hitting shoulder and throat. The figure flails back, dropping his crossbow, and crumples to the floor.

Q18 down. Illes, then Vethran.

Dravite.

It's all good.

HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

"What the hells?" Illes looks down at the gash where an arrow grazed him, but but the time he looks up both Hudak and Elisile are closing on his target. As he rotates scanning for another masked freak, he sees Dravite drop the first one. "Oh you dwarven bastard! Nice shot beardy." Then he fires on the remaining gimp masked face-faker(?).

Shortbow vs T8: 17+7 = 24
Damage: 4+2 = 6

Inspire Courage Round 2 of 5

Illes' shot hits the crossbowman in the arm. He yelps in pain.

Vethran, then the cultists.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

I think it's rude to marginalize their religion by calling them......GAAAAAAH!!! Political threads.....melting....brain...

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

Vethran levels up his crossbow, takes aim, and clicks off a bolt towards the cultist being fired on by his cousin.

Attack: 8 + 4 = 12. Damage: 1. Woo.

Vethran's bolt is deflected by a bar and pings away into the pit below.

The cultist (sorry - person of unusual religious affiliation) nearest Elisile drops his bow, flicks open his war razor and slahes at the elf. Only her hardened, scaly new integument stops her getting her throat slashed open from the wicked cut. (Rolled a 20 but didn't confirm the crit - 5 damage.) The other fires at Alwyn as he approaches, the bolt thudding into his forearm. (Another 20, confirmed, but lousy damage: 4.)

Hudak.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

Completes his run to N3; to hit 17 total against the cultist; damage(?) 15.

Hudak hacks down the masked fiend in a single blow.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

"CROM!!!"

Male Dwarf Ranger/7 XP- 35674

"Heh, looks like I be 5 gold richer, eh Illes!"

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Alwyn's face twists in annoyance as Dravite's crossbow bolt drops the cultist closest to him. Without a target, he keeps running towards the last remaining enemy.

Double move to T15.

Male Dwarf Ranger/7 XP- 35674

"Sorrie Padre! Didn' ye see da big 'Dravite's Kill' sign on dat one's chest? Run if'n ye be wantin' blood, cause dat sign be movin' ta de last one!"

Dravite.

Rapid shot the last dude-1d20+6=22to hit, 1d8+5=8 damage, 1d20+6=20 to hit, 1d8+5=6 damage.
"Too bad it ain't 5 gold each!"

Yeah, I think Elisile got missed.

Elisilizard hisses, the leaps at the cultist, savagely clawing and biting, most unlike her normal refined fighting style. Claw 1: 17+8+1 = 26. Damage: 4+1+1 = 6, Claw 2: 3, Bite: 14+6+1 = 21. Damage: 1+1+1 = 3.

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

Fakey, if we’re both going after the same target, you might want to apply –4 to those shots to avoid hitting Elisile!

Elisile's troglodyte form grabs the masked form and savages him with bite and claw. As he staggers back, Dravite's two arrows slam into him, and he collapses gurgling to the floor.

End of combat.
